Yeah, I wanna *TRY* to get a post in tomorrow before dinner (that’s just a bit of me time I have) so I’m not holding anyone back since I’m unsure I’ll be able to get a post in this weekend BUT I really really REALLY wanna respond to Dark Pit and Co. Byleth and Layton's group in the Battlefield Fortress may be the easiest group to hop into as it is a small group and there's no major event going on at the moment. Responses for this group are faster as well as it's just Ploegy and I. At the moment, they are outside the castle and making introductions after doing battle with a small horde of Lizalfos.

There is also Samus's group (Samus, Pikachu, Peach, Zelda, Cream & Cheese, Dark Pit) at the Lake Shore, but response times for this group are a little slower if you don't mind that. Taking Samus's ship, they've just arrived at the Lake Shore where they met up with Dark Pit, Nurse Joy, the Lake Scientist, and Big the Cat (All but Dark Pit being NPCs).

Captain Falcon's group is just Falcon, Yoshi, and Shadow the Hedgehog. They are in the Swamp where they have been escorted to a Kokiri village. Response times for this group can be very quick or very slow depending on player activity.

I've also recommended Byleth's group to Zeke's player, who just joined. The two of you could also form your own team together and pick a different starting point if you want.
