Wow okay rpn not giving me notifications. So rude

I'm replaying Prof. Layton and the Curious Village, and I'm amused at the idea of some of the teams being in a town full of puzzle-lovers, with some of the Smash Brothers losing their patience over it.

"Excuse me, can you please tell me where I may find (blank)?"

"Oh-ho! Sure I can tell you where it is, but what fun is that? Solve this puzzle, and you'll have your answer!"


"Pardon me, but I've lost (blank). Have you seen it?"

"Hmm, maybe, maybe not. Maybe solving this puzzle will jog my memory!"


"This is a nice restaurant. What is the special for today?"

"To know what our Special of the Day is, you must solve this puzzle!"


"AH-CHOO!"

"Bless you! ... Oh! That reminds me of a rather charming puzzle!"

I feel like at least half my characters are annoyed or too bad at puzzles lol

Joker would be instantly contemplating alternative ways to go about things and Byleth probably is the only one relatively unfazed by it all. The others are a lost cause lol

After hanging around Layton and Luke for a bit, Byleth quickly realizes that this is how their world works. Best to just accept it!

I can see some of the fighters struggling with a 50 Picarat puzzle. Layton gently reminds them that they have plenty of Hint Coins to use, but they stubbornly refuse to use them.

One fighter finally snaps when they're given a sliding puzzle!

Mythra is irritated by puzzles but at least Pyra is willing to try and help with them though she’s not all to great at them. She’s at least more patient though

Byleth is simply adaptable even though he isn’t all to experienced with puzzle solving. He can at least offer his perspective on things and think through it logically

Layton and Mythra would be a fun interaction. Layton is so mellow and polite, and doesn't get riled up at all by her attitude. I can see her getting into childish arguments with Luke.

Layton: My dear, I see you are getting quite frustrated with this one. Why don't we have a cup of tea and come back to this one later? There's no shame in taking a break.

Mythra and Pit actually attempt to solve a puzzle between them. Somehow this results in something getting blown up. The puzzle still wasn't solved. They eventually manage to solve one (it's a 10 Picarat puzzle lol) and they're like, "YAY! WE'RE NOT SIMPLETONS!!"

Meanwhile Sora is standing almost completely still, staring at a puzzle. Everyone thinks he’s deep in thought but really he has exactly no thoughts. Roxas on the other hand is slowly getting more and more irritated

I feel like Princess Zelda would be one of the few fighters who'd appreciate and enjoy Layton's puzzles. Occasionally, other fighters have to tell Layton to stay focused!

I like Grumpy's headcanons, so I thought I'd share one that's been floating around in my own head.

Snake asking lots of unnecessary questions during dialogue scenes, especially on topics he admits he's knowledgeable about, is a popular meme in the community. I like to think that Snake does this tactically - the people he ends up fighting are prone to going into looooooong rants about their history, motives, and philosophical beliefs. Long enough to get a good look at the battlefield, or catch your breath, or even just buy time for your comrades to advise you about the situation over Codec. And making your enemies think you're less capable than you really are is always strategically valuable.

This gets a bit less plausible when he's doing this with his own allies, but I still like to this he's just curious and wants them to elaborate on a topic, or REALLY wants to make sure he understands what's going on.

But on that topic, I like to HC that Donald and Goofy probably kinda homeschool (or just teach in general) stuff that he should know when they have free time. So while he misses out on a lot, he does pick up some stuff

Probably the same reason the English dub of KI:U decided Pit is illiterate despite him being able to read check lists and maps in KI NES and KI: OM&M. Now I have to wonder if Sora not being able to count is an English dub thing, or if it's in the original Japanese script.

Yeah I’m not sure if it is an English dub thing or not. It doesn’t bother me that much and for the most part I take it as Sora self deprecating as a joke because he knows he’s not all that smart

It is adorable which is why I really like the idea of it and it fits well with Goofy’s character Donald on the other hand probably would only teach Sora how to be selfish with his magic lmao As for Max, who knows if he exists in the KH universe. Would be neat if he did

It'd be kind of sweet if Luke ends up joining Zelda, Pittoo, and Roxas's group. Luke is quite taken with Zelda, and Zelda thinks he's absolutely adorable. Meanwhile, the two boys grumble because they believe they'll have to babysit Luke. While Luke is not a fighter, he is a courageous boy and very clever, and that eventually earns him Roxas and Dark Pit's respect.

I can see a scene where Luke is facing down a bunch of enemies. He's terrified, but he stands between them and Zelda anyway because a true gentleman never abandons a lady in trouble! Before the monsters could descend upon them, though, Roxas and Pittoo show up to take care of business! One of them comments on how foolish it is for Luke to try and fight an entire horde when he has no fighting ability of his own, but then expresses admiration for his courage. While the boys keep the horde busy, Luke is free to use his cleverness to help take down the creatures and win the fight. Afterward, Luke is officially one of them!

The pillars, yes. Lunaris, not so much. The overall situation, yes. Aswell as all of the experimentations with Jenova's cells and the Pokemon

The Pillars' existence isn't widespread knowledge in the Smash Realm. It's a pretty closely guarded secret. Remember that Master Hand only gave the Great Deku Tree hints as to who the other Pillar guardians are, while there's no knowledge on where Crazy Hand hid his. Even the history book Lunaris used in my last Lunaris post only briefly mentions their existence.
