One last drawing for the night. I’ve been giving an awful lot of attention to the heroes of this story, but it wouldn’t hurt if I gave some limelight to the villains now would it? GrumpySwallow

Since Odessa and Lunaris only have written descriptions for their appearances, I thought it’d be a neat exercise to make a proper visualization for it! (Please note that this is in NO WAY shape or form the canon designs for these characters and is merely my own interpretation of what they could possibly look like)

Here are a few fun facts about the design process:

• My inspiration for how to design Odessa was basically the idea of “What is Pit but gorl and evil”, which felt the most fitting considering she was once a priest of Palutena. So if you took away the himation, you’d find that her outfit would harken quite a bit to Pit’s, especially with the matching scarf, navy under suit, and hidden shoulder pauldron.
• To add on to this originally she was also going to wear a laurel but I thought that might be a bit too angelic considering her character lmao. So instead a I gave her jewelry a head piece that has a wheel shaped design. Since her backstory is all about rejecting the gods having a motif of something that very much represents humanity’s own creation felt very fitting.
• To allude to her connection with the underworld I tried to use a shade of purple that was a bit similar to Medusa’s fit
• Next for Lunaris I struggled a bit on how to make a design since we don’t know too much about his backstory. As well his color palette of gold silver and blue lent itself towards a lot more brighter design which made it a bit harder to convey that villainous feeling. But, taking sesign cues from prior Zelda villains (Such as Ghirahim, Astor, and Vaati) I came with something that fit the given description but also had its own flair for dramatics
• I know it wasn’t mentioned in the sacred texts, but I thought making the gauntlets huge and unwieldy would help to further suggest the idea that Lunaris has captured something with an extraordinary amount of power that even he, with all of his magical talent, is barely able to control. And, to further allude to that idea, I added some chains to the gauntlets for a little extra spice.
• Now, what does his face look like? Heck if I know! But in order to draw the mask I first drew a face to get an idea or where the masks eyeholes and mouth should lie. So, taking inspiration from the prior bad guys mentioned as well as Vexen from Kingdom Hearts, I made a lil sketch of what this evil wizard could potentially look like. I’ll be excited to see if he look’s something like this or something something completely different. Who knows, maybe he doesn’t even have a face!!

• He seems like the type of guy to swear up and down that his hair is dirty blonde, not brown lol
• Also he’s wearing eyeliner to really help make his eyes pop! But being under that mask causes it to smudge a whole lot much to his displeasure

SheepKing Those are AMAZING! I just woke up and these are the first things I got to see! You've made my morning! I really should do drawings of my villains, but then again, one of the fun things about typed descriptions is that it allows players to come up with their own ideas as to how characters look, and I've always enjoyed seeing other peoples' interpretations based off those descriptions! The thought process behind your designs are fun to read too!

I hadn't thought too hard about Krook's scale color because my dumb brain thinks "green" by default, but he looks great in grey! I had a giggle at Mugorl's bellybutton!

The "shoulder pauldron" that Pit wears is actually a fibula, a brooch that is used to fasten garments. It's pretty much a fancy safety pin! Most ancient Greek outfits were pretty much one piece of cloth that was arranged in different ways and pinned to make different outfits. Pit wears an exomis, which is a tunic worn by workers, athletes, and light infantry. Typically the garments are pinned over the left shoulder so that the right arm had free mobility. I used to think it odd that Pit's exomis was pinned over the right shoulder as he's shown to prefer using his right hand, but I'm also under the assumption that he may be ambidextrous, so I guess that doesn't matter. The laurel crown is generally used as a symbol of triumph or authority. This is by no means a criticism, I'm just a nerd! XD I adore Greece, and Greek myth and culture, and it's a dream of mine to visit one day.
