[Sulfurix and Gilmore] Ranch loss

Harrison had knelt by the river side, content with watching the water rush past any rocks in the river. It was tempting to jump in and go for a swim, but he decided against that for now. Maybe some other time he could... He hadn't paid much attention when Vixi got out of the water, just assuming she was done for now.

At her words, his brows began to crease slightly as he turned his head, only to shoot them up in surprise moments later to seeing a /deer fawn/ letting the woman that close to it. "Holy..." He trailed off, slowly getting up and even more slowly going over, reaching up to take his hat off hesitantly as his dark blue-green eyes stared at the young fawn. "It's just...going to let you pet it?" He practically whispered, blinking in surprise as he moved closer. But, not wanting to scare the young fawn off, Harry stood back a few steps.

Vixi smiles as she pet the fawn. It was so cute.Vixi sighed."mother must of abandoned it, but why."vixi said looking around. She sighed and went to her saddle bag. She grabbed a rope. And walked back to the fawn she gently made a halter and put it on the fawn."such a good deer." Vixi says. She sighed and moved the fawn to stand. It stood and made a noise then fell. She sighed and picked it up. Vixi sighed. "Here hold it like this." She shows him and then hands him the fawn. She gets Thair and puts her shoes and hat back on and gets on."okay hand it to me. You can stay or follow me your choice. "She says.

He stood close by, curiously watching the young fawn as she pet it. "Is it sick?" He asked hesitantly, but, still worried he might scare it off, kept his respectful distance from the young fawn even as she went and got the rope to slide a makeshift halter onto its head. He flinched as the fawn tried to get up with her help, only to fall. Maybe that was why the mother left... It was either too weak to stand, or maybe something happened when it was born? A twisted leg perhaps?

Harrison's eyes wised when she suddenly told him to hold the fawn, just getting a glimpse of what to do before the fawn was in his arms. "Oh.." he looked down to the equally confused fawn staring at him with bewildered eyes. "You'll be safe now, huh?" He mused, an actual smile threatening to pull at the edges of his lips before pushing it away and going over to where Vixi was now perched on the horse. Since he was tall, it wasn't a problem leaning the fawn up to the girl so she could take it from him. "I'll follow, I'd probably get myself lost out here since I don't know the trails like you," he admitted before taking a step back once he was sure she had the fawn in her arms. Harrison shifted the hat on his head before going and untying Zoey's reins from what branch they were fastened on, and then getting himself up into the saddle. He shifted awkwardly on the saddle to get used to the way he had to sit before taking the reins in his hands to follow after her.

Vixi took the Fawn and rode back. She rode faster then on the ride there. She stopped outside the barn. Vixi slowly hopped off Thai once she sure she could. She held the Fawn and walked to the barn and found an empty stall. She placed the fawn inside closing the door. She went to tie up thair and grab some things from inside."I need you to grab blankets down the hall third door. Grab about 5."She says. She heated up milk and put it in the bottle. Vixi walked out and to the barn. She grabbed hay and fixed up the stall it hadn't been used in months, so it was clean. Vixi held the fawn in her lap and used the bottle to feed him. Vixi smiles as the fawn goes after it hungrily. "Its okay little guy."She said holding him.

He followed after quickly as she went to the barn, sliding off Zoey once there. Since Vixi was taking care of the fawn, he took both of the horses back to their stalls and took their saddles and such off before catching her command. "Alright," he responded, shutting the stall doors to go jogging down the hall to the third door. Harrison went in, hand on the handle, and reached onto a shelft to snag five blankets. Once he was sure they were good and clean, by shaking them out, he went back to the stall she had cleaned out for the fawn, walking over. He pushed the stall door open quietly so he wouldn't startle the fawn any more than it already was.

Harry slowly went over and crouched down beside her, dropping the blankets down but taking one to gentle tug it over the fawn's small form. "Poor lil guy," he uttered quietly, letting one knee drop down tithe ground, arm bent over his other leg that wasn't against the ground as he crouched there. "What are you going to call him?" He questioned curiously, figuring she was going to keep the fawn here considering its mother had left it out in the open for itself, and what else could be done with it? Calling an animal service would most likely end the young fawn into a zoo or something. He blinked before glancing up to her, and then breaking his gaze away once more to look at the gas with his typical 'avoid eye contact at all costs' thing he had going on for some reason.

It's actually a male fawn."His name will be Buck. He isn't the first fawn I have saved, but the first one I am not releasing back into the forest to be killed by a damn hunter." Vixi says and watched the fawn go after the bottle. She wrapped the blanket around him and smiles leaning down. Slow down buddy I will get you another one. Could you please lay those blankets out on the Hay over there and grab me another bottle. The formula for the milk and directions on the counter. We feed baby pigs like this all the time."Vixi says. She looked at him and grabbed his hand."thank you."She says to him.

Irish Ice Queen

"Buck," he repeated the name as he listened to what else she was saying. He started to pick up the blankets when she told him to lay them out, and then to go get some more formula, only stopping from standing up when his hand was suddenly seized by her own hand. "Anything to help," he replied, giving her a soft nod of his head before standing up with the blankets. Harrison went and ser them out over the hay where she told him to, making sure to layer them up slightly so the fawn would be comfortable on the hay. Once done, he stood again and headed for the stall door.

He headed over to where the formula was on the counter, grabbing the bottle of it to read the instructions, and then following step by step to make another bottle (having found another bottle to use in a cabinet overhead). Once making sure the milk wasn't too hot or too cold, by dropping some on his wrist like he had seen someone do at some point, he headed back to the stall. He stooped back down, offering her the full bottle. "Want me to go wash that one?" He offering, sticking his hand out to take the bottle the fawn had downed rather quickly.

Vixi nods" please and thank you." She says and hands it to him. The fawn tried to get up making a baby noise. Vixi sighed it was so pitiful. Vixi gave him the new bottle and held it for him.she PE his head and sighed. This was going to be a long night. She wasn't going to leave this baby fawn defenseless in the barn. She sighed and picked the fawn up and toom it the bed.she layed back feeding the fawn a blanket over her. The fawn finished the bottle and fell asleep on her. Vixi sighed and closed her eye's petting the fawn. She was getting tired relaxing there. It had been a while since she just layed down. She heard Harrison walk back and her eye's open."oh hey, you can do what ever you like.looks like I am not leaving here for a while."She says. She gave him a small smile. "Can I ask you something."

He took the bottle and brought it back to the counter, finding soap and a cloth to wash it out. He made sure it was nice and clean before drying it off and setting it to the side to air dry a bit more before walking back. He was starting to pat his hands against his pants when he made it back to the stall, looking in only to find Vixi with the fawn asleep against her. He rose a brow to what she said, but nodded anyway, "sure." Harry leaned against the stall door quietly and looked over to her, but--as always--he broke off whatever eye contact he had made to look to the small form of the fawn and whatever breaths it was drawing into its lungs.

She sighed. "Are you okay you seem pissed half the time no smile. I can't have some angry around the animals. "Vixi finally says as she moves to sit up and the fawn let out noise till she wrapped her arms around itm she sighed. He never smiled and never kept eye contact for long.Vixi watched him closely and dissected every mood he made. Had she been to hard on him. Was he scared if her?

Irish Ice Queen

He blinked to her words, letting his eyes shift up to actually make eye contact for a few split seconds before glancing off, looking out of the stall for a moment and then looking back. "Nah, I'm not ah, always ticked" he tried, giving a small shrug. "I guess I see where you'd get that from though," he uttered, lifting a hand to rub the back of his neck for a moment, in an almost awkwardly apologetic way. Truth be told, after his parents split, he changed as well. Hitting the heel of the boot against the floor slightly, he could feel his shoulders go up into a shrug. "I haven't been a big 'smiler' for a while, I guess," he moved his hand away from his neck to let it push against his other hand, leaning his forearms against the stall door. He was bad at explaining himself, obviously, but he never meant to look so...grumpy, per say. His mother always did tell him to smile more, he just never realized he didn't smile until it was brought up. Harrison lifted his gaze back up for a split second to search her face--as if trying to make sure what he said wouldn't be taken the wrong way--before once again slowly letting his gaze shift to the small fawn in her lap.

She raised and eyebrow. She sighed. "Well I need you to change that , especially around my animals."She says she set the fawn down and stood. "Animals pick up on vibes and I dont want my animals upset in any way." Vixi said leading him out of the stall. She closed and locked it. Vixi walked up to un saddle the horse's. She brushed Thair out and then Did the same for Zoey. She walked out and closed up the barn."I am going up to check on my father see you for dinner. "She says. Vixi walked to See her father. She took care of him and spent some time reading to him, when he was asleep vixi went down and started dinner. She was lost in thought. She heard a noise and turned seeing Harrison. "Jesus say something next time."She says

He nodded slowly, "I'm sorry," he uttered whole heartedly as she past by him out of the stall door. When she wasn't looking, Harrison started to make odd smiles, honestly not used to smiling except to his mother and sister, and on those rare occasions when one would sneak up on him. He quickly wiped the weird look he was making at himself when she had turned back to him. "Yes, alright. I'll see you for dinner," he replied, mentally smacking himself for not trying to smile. Once the door was shut, he let out a groan and hit his head against a wall. "You're an idiot, Harry." He mumbled to himself before forcing an airy chuckle from his lungs. Turning on his heel, he headed to the door and pushed it open gently, before turning and shutting it, making sure it latched closed.

Harrison waundered about for a few minutes, kicking small stones and thinking. He hoped his mother was home safe from her new job, and that his sister had made it home safely. Maybe he could call them after dinner... Just to check up. Yeah. Nodding to himself in confirmation, he turned and headed for the house. He shoved his hands into his pockets casually, glancing to his truck. He'd get his guitar out later... Tilting his head back, he silently slid in the house incase Vixi's father was asleep, and went over to the kitchen. He had walked a few steps in before stopping as she turned, brows raising slightly to her sudden alarm. "Ah- sorry." He finally popped a small smile onto his face. Surprised by the action himself, it dropped quickly before he raised a hand to run at the back of his neck again. He was an awkward fool at times.

She smirked and shook her head."well since your here might as well earn your keep."She said jokingly. She moved over so he could wash his hands."wash your hands And then I need you to cut the steak in strips."She says" it should be thawed by now."She says. She went back to making the salad and and walked to the stove. She stirred her pots and sighed. "Sorry if I seemed like a bitch earlier. I just am very protective of my animals is all." Vixi stopped hearing noises out side. She looked back confused. "What in the hell?" She asked."watch this a second. "She says. She went outside and came back in. "Town is having some party. " She says

Irish Ice Queen

He gave a nod before walking to the sink, turning on the water and washing his hands clean from whatever had built up on the during the day. Once he finished, and dried his hands, he picked up the knife and started to slice the steak into slices on the cutting board where the thawed out meat was. Harrison stayed quiet for a moment before he creased his brows and looked over to Vixi. "No, I understand. Even my mom tells me to smile more--guess I just give off a bad vibe," he said, turning away, but unable to hide the twinkle of amusement in his deep blue-green eyes. He got nagged for that a lot, he just never...seemed to be able to break the bad habit.

He glanced over his shoulder as she started to go outside, glancing to the stove he was told to watch--so nothing would burn--every few moments as he sliced the meat until she returned. "They are?" He asked, tilting his head. "Wonder why..." he uttered under his breath, though slightly loud enough for her to hear. He sliced the last steak, using the knife to push all the strips together. "What do you want me to do with the meat?" He questioned, tilting his head. Okay, so Harry wasn't a five star chef, more like a two star. When it came to frozen foods, he could do that. Home cooked? Not so much. Just the thought of how this would smell cooked make his stomach want to growl for dinner like the hungry teenage guy he was.

Vixi sighed." Probably just a party for the locals. I don't go to them much. Unless I go for the bar. I haven't been in a while. Now the steak goes in the frying pan. Careful when you put it in the grease will jump at you." Vixi says as she removed the food from the stove and made plates up and covered them. She started making something else with dough. She let him cook the steak. Vixi went to work on the desert once it was done she put it in the oven and checked the meat."perfect awesome. "She says. She smiled and looked at him. She wiped flour on his cheek. She was still a teenage girl, and wanted to make him smile.

Irish Ice Queen

"It sounds like a fun time," he mused. Harrison took the steak strips and started to drop them into the frying pan, once or twice jolting his hand away and shaking it from a drop of grease jumping out. But that could be expected, with Harry cooking at least. He watched the meat cook, flipping it when he thought necessary so it'd cook throughout and wouldn't burn.

He paused to the flour being wiped on his cheek, blinking before looking over at her, then trying to look to his cheek. "Wha-," he lifted a hand to wipe it off his cheek and onto his finger before quickly wiping it onto her nose. A slight smile started to quirk the edges of his mouth before he flipped the meat again so it wouldn't burn.

She laughed and let him cook the meat. Once it was done she took it off and put it ona plate. She put it on the table and got him the nose with cake batter. She had wiped the flour off.

"Eh we could go after this if you want"she says and smiles. By the way I think you have something right here." She says and points to his nose.vixi laughs and winks at him. She hadn't had any one around to mess with in a while.

He watched as she put the meat onto a plate, already grabbing a few things to place in the sink. He turn his head to look over, feeling the cake batter on his nose suddenly. "Sure," He crossed his eyes to look at the cake batter on his nose, sticking his tongue out to touch the tip of his nose. wiggling his nose slightly, he gave up and lifted his hand to wipe the batter off and then lick it off his finger. "Delicious," he mused, a smile finally pulled at his features.

Vixi laughs and shook her headm she ate her plate slowly and silently. Once finished she cleaned up and put the food away. She smiled. "Give me a few." Vixi went up and changed. She cleaned up and dressed in a checkered sleeveless top. She tied it up and put her hat, jeans and boots on. She walked down her hair curled from the shower."ready, let's go to town."vixi says and grabs keys off a key holder. She smiles. "Not the only one with a truck."She walks back out the back door and heads for her truck.

Harrison sat down and ate silently as well, enjoying the home cooked meal that was placed out before him. He honestly couldn't remember the last time his mother ever cooked something that didn't come form a box or a can. When they finished, he helped her clean up the kitchen from the mess made from cooking dinner. "Alright," he gave her a nod as she headed off. Harrison leaned against the counter, pulling out his phone for a moment. He rose a brow to his sister's text message, and decided he'd call in a bit. He looked up from replying to his sister when Vixi came back down, tilting his head to her changed outfit and hair. "Fancy," he mused before pushing himself off the counter, sliding his phone into his pocket again.

"I hope you're a good driver then," he found himself, surprisingly, teasing her playfully. He could be that social butterfly like he was years ago, it just came out in small doses.

Vixi smirks." Fancy? For me yes. Now come on city slicker." Vixi winked at him." I am from the country not an invalid." She says at his driving comment.

Vixi drove to town took about 30 mins. She parked and got out the town was lit up and music was playing. There was a bunch going on. Vixi smiles and walks up to the entrance. She pay a for the two of them and smiles at him."so can you dance at all?"She asks him with a small smile.

Irish Ice Queen

After the arrived to the town, Harrison let his gaze shift over the lights that were tied up before getting out and following her up to the gate. "Oh, you don't need to do that," he tried to stop her before she paid, feeling bad that she had paid for him. Even if him and his family were in a tight spot, he always felt bad about anyone paying for anything for him--call in blind pride maybe. At her question though, he lifted a hand and rubbed the back of his neck. "Depends on what kind, I guess," he stated. Playing guitar and--not that he'd ever admit it--singing were what he typically did. But, with a little sister and a dad that walked out, Lindsey often made him help her learn all these dances she wanted to know. Some he'd deny ever even knowing about.

Vixi smiles." Dont worry about it my treat. How about country style dancing?" Vixi asked him. She walked with him around the fair well the town. There were games, rides, and much more. The town didn't normally do stuff like this so it was rare when they did.

Vixi smiles when they reach the dance floor. She watched from the side line. She smiles at him, Watch your a fast learner a man saw her and held out his hand to her. Vixi winked at Harrison, and took the hand. She danced to the music and laughs. She finally made it back to him."Join?"She asks

Irish Ice Queen

"I don't know much about country style dancing," he said, following after her into the fair. He hadn't been to one of these since he was a kid...and the memory seemed to bring one ghost of a smile to his face as they went along.

When they got to the dance floor, he arched a brow and looked to her. "Yeah," he mused, watching as a man came and whisked her off to dance. Harrison watched carefully and counted the beats like he did with Lindsey. It..it looked like fun, he'd have to admit. By the time she made it back to him, he had to stop his foot from tapping. "Yeah, it looks fun," he said as he pushed himself from the pope he had leaned against. Harrison held out his hand for her to take, pretty sure he already knew all the steps to the dance. It didn't seem too hard. And if he made a fool of himself, he'd laugh it off.
