"With this word, we shall make our mark...

Enlightenment

. It is the future of the Hume, and the fate of our race." - Unknown Author

Long ago, the states of Arida did not exist. Everything was ruled by a race of beings simply known as the Yhamar; the Awoken in their tongue. They ruled the world with an iron fist, and had an advanced civilization of scientists, revolutionaries and thinkers. Then suddenly they vanished, leaving their civilization and culture in ruins. This gave The Hume; Humanity a chance to rise.

When Humanity began to rise, they found the remnants of old Yhamar technology and culture, and they reformed their civilization around it. As suddenly as they disappeared, the Yhamar returned to behold their former civilization flooded with masses of Hume. With this discovery, the Yhamar went on a quest for the strategic genocide of Humanity.

Several generations later, the first strike at Humanity was dealt at the hands of the Yhamar. This blow was dealt when the Yhamar revealed their existence the the denizens of their fallen civilization, and began to strike them down with immense force. Over the years, this genocide became a controlled punishment; and eventually radical Yhamar thinkers began to develop a device known only as the Brander, and used it to cull and control masses of Hume.

The Brander's purpose was to mark the Hume and separate them into different castes of slavery; but as before, the Yhamar vanished, unable to finish the mass branding of the Hume. Those that were branded were impregnated with unbridled power, and were called the Enlightened. Their brands they; what they call Runesigns, carry the power that an Enlightened wields. As a final parting gift, the Yhamar made it so that the Enlightened Runesigns were unstable, and virtually uncontrollable. As a result, Enlightened around the world were unwillingly destroying the remnants of Yhamar civilization, along with taxing and harming the growth of Humanity.

One century later, all visible traces of Yhamar civilization was gone, and the Enlightened were the first to be blamed. The Enlightened were seen as monsters, and a plague to Humanity. They were cast out as exiles, though some stayed in defiance, and lived long enough to make a positive contribution to the world.

That was until the Golden Age started...

Recently, the Enlightened have made a significant impact on the nation of Ardia. They bind the states; Ferris, Panthea, Pandora, Arumales and Jarne in a rigid harmony. They did this through the Enlightened Council, founded on the principle that every state has a council of Enlightened to guide it for the sake of Ardia. This peace was halted when all the members of the council across all of the states had been assassinated; all at the same time.

This caused accusations to rise, and those eventually led to an all out bout of total warfare.

The Struggle For Ardia

Now, it seems that things will only get worse in the world. Enlightened Cults are rising and taking advantage of the chaos caused by the warfare. This only adds to the stress that Ardia is under, and it only tempers more and more with the fragile breaking point of annihilation.

Will this be the end of Ardia?

Thank you for your interest. What do you find interesting about it?
I've always like the whole ancient civilization coming back to mess with humanity idea kinda cool and people with powers is cool too :)

As in the game system/mechanics, the checks and balances. The supernatural templates from new World of Darkness or FATE?

I guess you can say that. Of course there are balances and checks to ensure the proper amount of action can be done.

I would join. Do i have to be part of a state? You said the enlightened were unstable... so can i be a rouge sort of guy?
