“You showed me how insufficient were all my pretensions to please a woman worthy of being pleased.”

This Season's Ladies

Lady of Devonshire
The younger sister of the Duke, she has enjoyed the life of a free spirit, able to stay at home and learn all there is about the world. Much more interested in literature than her social endeavors, it came as a surprise when her mother announced that she would be partaking in this year’s season. Debuting and being pranced around like some show pony is the last thing she wants but she can’t say no to her mother.

Daughter of the Marquesses of Essex - taken by social
Once considered a jewel of London high society, she has once again returned to London to find a husband. You see, she thought she had stumbled upon the perfect suitor about two years ago, a newcomer who had an abundance of wealth and a charming smile, and he was incredibly fond of her. They courted and were quickly engaged, everything was going according to plan. However, right before the wedding, he had convinced her to elope with him, but he did it to steal her inheritance. He managed to get away with half, leaving behind a broken heart. Her presence this season is causing quite a stir among the ladies and gentlemen.

Daughter of Earl Langley - Taken by junegloom
This diamond in the rough is someone who has lived a life of luxury, adopted by her wealthy aunt and uncle who raised her as their own. She’s known nothing outside of the world they have spun for her and they intend to keep it that way. However, there are whispers among the high class that she doesn’t belong among them, I mean, after all, she doesn’t even look related to either of them.

The Eldest Daughter of Baron Fitzroy
As the eldest daughter, she has always been expected to set the standards for the family. She must choose the perfect husband and save her other sisters from possibly losing the family fortune when her father dies. It’s a difficult price to pay when you have five younger sisters and a sickly mother who can’t fight against her husband’s demands. From the start, she has been doing everything in her power to become the perfect wife, but in the process, it seems like she’s only succeeded in losing herself.

The Daughter of Viscount Brisbane
The only daughter of Viscount Brisbane, she’s been groomed by her aunt since birth on how to become the perfect bride. With no mother to call her own, she grew up with the strong hand of her father and the controlling gaze of her aunt, never allowing her to have a hair out of place or a nail that was ever so slightly chipped. The season is her first taste of freedom and frankly, it would be a waste for her not to enjoy it. So who can fault this newly debuted dove the chance to spread her wings and have some fun?

The Daughter of Viscount Berkely
Raised out in the countryside far away from London’s high society, she was never forced to endure what most of these girls go through. There was no poking and prodding when her corset wasn’t laced tight enough and she didn’t get in trouble for sneaking an extra piece of cake. But now she’s in the public eye and she has to pretend like she knows what she’s doing, even though she hasn’t got a clue. Let’s just hope she doesn’t attract unwanted attention and end up in a nasty scandal.

The Youngest Daughter of Baron Huxley
Her older sister ran away with a farmer and never looked back, leaving [Blank] to pick up where she left off. It was a lot of responsibility to fall on her shoulders, especially since she wasn’t expecting it nor was she planning on debuting for at least two years. Naturally, it’s difficult for a girl who hasn’t been training continuously to step into society and secure a match. She’s pitied by many in society and those in the season this year don’t even feel threatened by her. But maybe they should.

The Second Eldest Daughter of the Earl of Durham
If reputation and status mean anything to you, it certainly doesn’t for her. Rumors have surrounded her since she first debuted at the young age of 17 years old and hasn’t been back in society since. There are stories about her and she never confirms or denies them. The most recent one is her previously being the mistress of a very wealthy and powerful man, but the wife found out and that’s why she’s back in the season, hoping to find someone to tie her down. Now, who would be brave enough to do that?

The Daughter of the Earl of Dorset
A wonderful and perfect daughter, truly a sight to behold. But what's this? It seems her attention has been stolen quite quickly by a certain gentleman. Always finding ways to speak with him, it's become the talk of the ton how she is holding out for him to finally ask for her hand. But will her heart's desire ever be returned? Or will her potential matches fade into the background as she waits, hoping for a fairy tale that will never come true...

The Youngest Daughter of Viscount Bolton
Her debut year, this lovely flower has been quite eager to experience the season after watching her sisters excitedly prepare for it over the years. The stories of romance and drama are far too much for her not to happily indulge in. But perhaps she's too eager. Quite the gossip, you will always find her spreading rumors and gossip she hears, unable to keep it to herself. This lack of restraint may not look badly upon her, but it certainly casts a light on whoever she finds entertaining. Let's see if this season's top gossip will keep her own reputation unmarked.

This Season’s Gentlemen
The Duke of Devonshire - Taken by social
Not one to settle down, he hasn’t attended the season since he was 18 years old. He has always been very quiet about his personal life, only rumors about him having a lover hidden away in the countryside giving any information about him. However, since the untimely death of his father, he is now forced to choose a future wife, much to his own disappointment. There’s a possibility he is only doing it for a show as his heart may be completely taken by the one he has kept hidden from the public eye for oh so long.

The Oldest Son of Baron Lyly
Entitled and full of himself, he is rather disliked by this season’s gentlemen. Maybe it’s jealousy, or maybe it’s because this boy has a bad attitude, but he is the one who is known to cause quite a stir. Whether it’s because he messed with someone’s engagement or toyed with a girl’s heart, but he has a reputation for making a mess of every social season he attends. Maybe this year he will finally decide to keep his hands to himself and find someone worth settling down with.

The Son of the Earl of Kent
A sweetheart and someone everyone wants a piece of, he’s the perfect husband. Sweet, understanding, kind, smart, what’s not to like? Unfortunately, it seems like his gaze is controlled by his all-knowing mother who knows all the gossip that surrounds every leading lady of this year’s season. With someone like her by his side, he’ll be lucky to sneak one dance in before June hits us with its lovely summer weather.

The Son of Viscount Haddington
Have you ever heard of Viscount Haddington and his son? No? Well, neither have I for that matter! A complete dark horse, nothing but an air of mystery surrounds him, and honestly, he hasn’t done anything to show off his character in the slightest. Just a blank slate and someone the other men need to look out for. I mean how often does a mysterious stranger grace our popular social season with a spotless reputation?

The Son of Earl Langley - Taken by junegloom
Haven’t you heard? He’s been abroad in Greece for the last three years, soaking up the wonderful oceanside sun and the unique culture the country has to offer. But now he’s back in London and he’s here to show everyone what he’s learned. He may not have stayed in the city of love, but certainly, something has turned this man into a casanova that nobody expected to see.

The Former Prince of Westphalia
A prince without a kingdom, how sad. The monarchy ended this year and now this ex-royal is looking for a wife to fill the emptiness in his new home. He is known for his cold exterior and piercing gaze, but maybe there’s more to this prince than you know. He lost his family, his palace, and his title, all he has left is his life and money, and honestly, who can say no to that?

The Oldest Son of the Duke Talbot
Being the oldest son of any family must be difficult, but especially so for this particular suitor. His sister is quite famous for marrying a duke who is related to our loving royal family, and naturally high expectations are finding their way to him as well. He has a name and reputation to uphold, hopefully following in the footsteps of his sister and finding quite a perfect match. But what will he do about his family's fortune slowly running out? Wouldn’t it just be embarrassing if he found himself to be just a poor pauper while his sister lives the life of a royal? I’d hate to hear what his father would say.

The Youngest Son of Baron Fitzgerald
Our darling Baron Fitzgerald has done nothing but gift London with the finest bachelors every season. They are all quite dazzling and managed to find equally precious wives within the first month of the event. So why on Earth is this one so different? A son of a Baron who cannot match his brothers in anything other than academics? Why it’s simply laughable! I do hope he can do more than that or he may be the first Fitzgerald to attend every social season until he is an old man.

The Earl of Cornwall
One does not simply become an Earl on a random Tuesday afternoon. Or at least, that's what I assumed. However, I have been proven wrong by the announcement that the title of Earl of Cornwall has been inherited by a... doctor? Oh, Heavens. Well, it seems that our dearly departed Earl left the physical world with no heir to his titles, and instead it fell upon the shoulders of a cousin, someone who had never even stepped in Cornwall in his life. Now thrust into high society, he must find his footing and secure a match. Everyone wants an Earldom but not everyone can keep one. He better act fast or he will be left behind with the scavengers and they are far worse than any illness he has treated before.

The Son of Viscount Stanton
A man of the world, nobody has seen Viscount Stanton's son since he was about 17 years old. It has been some time since then. Some say he got lost at sea, others whisper that he perished in a war, but nothing has been confirmed. His mother, tight-lipped as ever, has only spoken of her son's accomplishments while his father has hidden away during the season, not daring to make a remark. But now, years later, he has returned to London for the season. He looks much different than anyone remembers, maybe it's from the foreign sun, but it looks positively dashing on him. Any doubts or questions anyone has certainly been pushed to the side now that he has returned... But is it really him?

  • The Duke
    of Devonshire.
Dearest Percival has not been apart of the season since he was 18 years old. There are rumors that he has a lover quietly tucked away at one of his estates, but he has always refused such things. Quite a catch, his title alone is able to turn heads as he is more than capable of providing a comfortable life for any lady! Romance is not a priority but he doesn't need love it seems, just someone to keep the pressure off of him. Whoever he picks surely will be the talk of the ton.

reputation. his reputation is nothing short of being clean as a whistle. he entered high society at the young age of 18 where he stole the hearts of all in attendance. he did not choose a bride but he did spend time with a few noble ladies who were quite enamored with him. however, he disappeared quickly after the season and never returned. he showed little interest in marriage which isn't exactly the most enticing thing for a young woman in society, but his newly acquired title as duke certainly is.

    Face Claim
    Saoirse Ronan from Little Women
    Height

    Hair
    Blonde, windswept, and always frizzy.
    Eyes
    Blue
    Modifications

    None
    Distinguishing Features
None, aside from a permanent, effervescent smile, and a thousand freckles dancing across her face.

    Likes
Horseback riding, long walks in nature, animals, sweets, dancing, the feeling of the grass beneath her toes, reading, enjoying a glass of brandy from time to time, going to the theatre. Philosophical debates.
    Dislikes
Being fussed over, piano (she was forced to learn and plays quite poorly), having to wear "these damned, bloody corsets," gossip, and those who engage in it far too frequently. Two-faced bitches. Arrogance. Vanity. Being the center of attention.
    Hobbies
Hunting - she used to do it with her father all the time. Archery. Gardening. Bird watching. Dancing. Chess and card games, though she's only ever played with her father.

    Personality
Florence is incredibly strong-willed, self-assured, and very, very opinionated. She's not afraid to speak her mind - something that consistently lands her into trouble - nor is she one to suffer fools. She sees right through people and has no qualms letting you know her opinions of you, good or bad. Free-spirited and restless; she would rather spend her free time riding through long, open fields on horseback rather than pacing back and forth from drawing room to drawing room. She also can be rather hot-tempered and incredibly stubborn, which has pushed away some friendships in the past. This also means she isn't afraid to blatantly turn down any suitor her mother pushes her way if they don't meet her impossible standards.

Very naive when it comes to conducting herself in high society, and finds all these rules surrounding it so very frivolous.

    Family
    • Viscount Johnathan Berkely - 52 years old
    • Viscountess Eliza Berkely - 42 years old
    • Aunt Charlotte - 45 years old
    Reputation
While some admire Florence for her outspoken honesty, some consider her to be quite rude, and completely lacking in social graces.

    Rumors or Scandals

    Background
    • Father, though a wealthy and well-respected Viscount, was an introverted man who hated society and wanted nothing else but to hide in the woods. Mother, for whatever reason her family couldn't describe, fell in love with him, married him, and moved all the way out to the countryside with him. They shared a quiet, happy life, caring for farm animals, enjoying their time as a newly wed couple, and dreaming of having of large family.
    • Before long, Florence was born. Mother and Father were overjoyed, of course, but there was also a part of them that was disappointed that she wasn't a boy. Nevertheless, Florence's birth was joyously celebrated equally by both of them.
    • A couple years later, Mother and Father tried endlessly for another, but after many failed attempts and painful miscarriages later, they realized their hopes were all in vain. Nevertheless, even though Father wanted a son, he eventually came to accept that perhaps he wasn't meant to have any. And as Florence got older, the two would bond over shared past-times that a father would otherwise enjoy with a son, such as shooting, archery, and even playing cards. Mother permitted this, so long as Florence kept up with her studies.
    • Like most girls from affluent families, Florence learned to play piano, sing, do needlework, as well as studied French and Latin. She was an incredibly lazy student, who often distracted herself with daydreaming rather than focusing on her lessons. Her tutors were constantly exasperated with her, and described her as being "entirely helpless and impossible to teach." It didn't help that she would arrive late to her lessons each time, and always after having been out riding all day. Mother indulged Florence's behavior, knowing that she was very much the same when she was her age.
    • And so this is how she lived her life - prancing through fields and trotting through the wet grass with mud beneath her boots, blissfully unaware of life beyond the family's estate.

    Questions

"How do you feel about the gossip that's already circulating?"

"Ugh. How can anyone actually believe all that nonsense. Clearly none of it is true. Are people truly that incapable of thinking for themselves?"

"Are you excited to be part of the season?"
"Hardly. But mother is forcing me to take part, so it appears I have little choice. That's quite alright though, my plan is to scare them all off so that none of them will even consider asking for my hand."

"Do you think you'll be married by the end of the season?"
    "Heavens, no.

    overview.
Burdened by the weight of her family’s lofty expectations, Cressida Brisbane enters the Season with a singular, secret wish: love. Behind the poised and perfect facade of grace and refinement carefully constructed to meet the ever-watchful gaze of her father and aunt lies the hopeful optimist, yearning for something far beyond the life laid out before her. In the presence of others, she is the very image of composure, a young woman every bit the epitome of elegance and propriety. Yet, when alone or allowed a moment of freedom, she is like a delicate flower, eager to bloom and experience a life untouched by the constraints of her familial duty.

Cressida is a deeply sensitive soul, one who craves not just affection, but a genuine connection that transcends societal roles and expectations. Beneath her graceful exterior is a kind-hearted and empathetic young woman who dares to dream of a life far more vibrant and adventurous than the one dictated by her family’s plans. In the quiet moments of solitude, she devours books, yearning to experience the adventures she reads about—hoping, perhaps foolishly, that such beautiful words might not be confined to just the pages of novels...but become her own reality.

Torn between the weight of social duty and her deep-seated desires for independence and passion, Cressida hopes to catch the eye of a suitor who will see her for more than just her beauty or her family’s title. She longs for someone who will offer not just marriage, but freedom—the key to escape the gilded cage that has held her captive for so long. And so, as the Season unfolds, Cressida's heart is filled with both trepidation and hope, as she dares to dream of a life that might, at last, be her own.

    history.
Cressida Eleanor Brisbane was born into a world of high expectations, but her life, though framed in opulence, was marred by tragedy and emotional distance. She was the only daughter of Viscount Brisbane, a man who had been deeply in love with his late wife, Lady Helena Brisbane. Lady Helena had been his heart, his confidante, and his equal and their love had been the talk of society, admired for its rare depth and sincerity, devoid of pretense. But tragically, when Cressida was still a mere infant, her mother passed away unexpectedly, leaving her father devastated.

The loss of his wife shattered the Viscount in ways beyond repair. He was never the same after her death; his grief, which had consumed him for years, became an impenetrable wall. He could not bear the sight of his daughter without seeing the reminder of his beloved Helena in her features— the same green eyes, the same delicate chin. Every smile, every laugh, seemed to echo the absence of the woman he could never replace. Over time, this sorrow turned into bitterness and the once-affectionate father grew cold, distant, and even resentful toward his daughter whose only fault was that she looked the very image of her late mother.

Cressida, who had craved her father’s affection, grew up in a house where love was unfortunately a rare commodity. The Viscount’s sharp eyes and icy demeanor turned her childhood into one of quiet obedience, where any misstep…no matter how small…was met with disappointment and sometimes punishment. Cressida learned to keep her head down and her heart even lower, hiding the yearning for affection that had been denied to her since birth behind a crafted smile.

Into this emotionally barren environment stepped Lady Augusta Brisbane, the Viscount’s elder sister. A woman of great social standing and ambition, Lady Augusta had never approved of her brother's choice in wife. To her, Lady Helena had been beneath him— far too simple and unpolished for the Viscount whose name carried with it a noble history and power. Augusta had always viewed her sister-in-law as a…temporary lapse in judgment and she could never fully hide her disdain for the woman who had been her brother’s greatest love.

When Lady Helena passed, Lady Augusta’s influence over her brother grew even stronger. She took it upon herself to raise Cressida though it was not out of any love for her niece, but as a means of ensuring the family name remained untainted by what she perceived as the "weakness" of Lady Helena’s legacy. Augusta’s methods were harsh, her love nonexistent, and she made it clear from the beginning that perfection was the only acceptable standard. Cressida was molded in Augusta’s image— always poised, always pristine, and never permitted to show any sign of individuality lest she desired punishment. Every moment of Cressida's life was scrutinized, from the curl of her hair to the way she held her teacup with no room for failure. Books and freedom were replaced by rigid lessons in etiquette and securing the perfect match.

To Cressida, this world felt absolutely suffocating. She often wondered why her father looked at her with a mix of disdain and indifference but never had the courage to ask. She had never known the softness of a mother’s love and with each passing year, the distance between herself and her father grew ever wider until the two could hardly stand to see each other.

The coming Season, her first real taste of London society, was something Cressida had longed for with both excitement and trepidation. It was the moment that had been carefully, strenuously planned for her entire life. This was the moment when she would be presented to the ton, her beauty and lineage on full display, and her future as a wife secured in the hands of some suitor her aunt and father deemed appropriate. For Cressida, it was more than just a debut— it was a chance to break free from the chains of her upbringing. The rules of society, though they weighed heavily upon her, were also her first taste of freedom. There would be escorts to be sure but there would be opportunity and even…hopefully…a little adventure? Here, in the glittering ballrooms and crowded parlors of London, she could see the world she had been denied all her life— a world of choice, of passion, of possibility…and of love.

For the first time, Cressida could feel the stirrings of something inside her, a desire not just to be the perfect debutante but to be more than her father’s unfortunate heir and more than her aunt’s meticulously crafted doll. The Season, though it was intended to be her greatest trial, was also her chance to experience life in a way she never had before. While suitors would probably try to court her with polite words and chaste glances, Cressida slowly began to understand what it felt like to truly, truthfully, desire something beyond her station. Adventure was waiting.

Though it may come at the cost of defying those who have shaped her life, Cressida is more than ready to live it on her own terms.

She just needs to find a suitable match.

    Reputation.
Cressida has an unbesmirchable reputation after years of being groomed and molded to be the perfect wife to an eligible suitor. Polished like a glittering gem, she is the very epitome of refined beauty. Cressida would be an ideal match for a prestigous marriage and a suitor would not want for much more in a strategic match. She has a reputation for being a little cold and aloof when chaperoned by her family but on the rare moments she is alone, her warmth and true personality shines through.

    Rumors or Scandals.
With an aunt as ambitious and overbearing as Augusta, there may be some whisper or chatter that Augusta sees Cressida as more of a tool for securing a powerful marriage...one that would benefit the Brisbane family name. Under her aunt's relentless control, only the most advantageous of matches would be considered...but is that what Cressida wants?

    family.
    Viscount Reginald Brisbane
Once a man full of warmth and affection, he was deeply in love with his late wife, whose untimely death left a permanent shadow over his heart. Since her passing, Viscount Brisbane has grown cold and distant, particularly toward his only daughter, Cressida, whom he resents for the simple fact of being a constant reminder of his loss. Despite his high status and wealth, his life is now driven more by duty and propriety than by any true joy or connection. His heart remains locked away, and while he maintains his noble title and responsibilities with stoic precision, the tenderness he once held for his family has withered, replaced by a hard, almost unapproachable exterior. Though he would never show it, part of him longs for a world where love and warmth could once again take root— if only he could find a way to allow himself to feel it.
    Augusta Brisbane-Wyndham
As the controlling figure fiercely dedicated to order and propriety in her niece Cressida’s life, Augusta believes in the importance of maintaining the family’s honor and social standing above all else, viewing any deviation from this path with disdain. She always considers her family's station and she sees her niece’s indulgences as a direct challenge to the family’s reputation. Augusta’s marriage to the late Lord Wyndham brought with it both privilege and responsibility and she has never allowed herself to falter in her duties. A woman of tradition and great ambition, she has shaped her world with the utmost precision, yet there is a part of her that secretly envies the freedom and passion she quashes in those around her, particularly in Cressida. Always careful with her own reputation, Augusta is fiercely loyal to her family but that loyalty is tempered by a cold pragmatism, one that values social duty over personal happiness.

personality
Helmut is a conflicting person at heart. Cold and distant, yet romantic and open, he is a walking, talking contradiction that demonstrates the conflict between his two sides. Having been raised by his mother mostly, who had taught him about love and cherishing those around you, those lessons stuck closest to his heart. However, upon his arrival in the royal Westphalian palace, these views of commoner values were denigrated by those around him with backhanded words he was too young to understand. He grew up lonely, isolated and combative against German nobility, causing him to develop that cold, hard shell he is known for today.

Honest to a fault, Helmut will find no reason to sugarcoat his words: as a prince, he had the right to speak his mind as clearly as he wanted, and even after his family fell, he felt comfortable continuing his behaviour. If he did not like a person, man or woman, he did not find it necessary to prattle honeyed lies and make a quiet escape. Many could consider him hard around the edges and a complete disgrace to polite society, but he had no reason to play along by the rules he hated so much.

However unconventional he may be however, he is a man of the heart. He had loved his mother until her very death, and he had hoped to be able to give that broken and lonely heart to someone one day--someone honest and true to themselves, whom he would have had no shame to present to his mother. With her gone however, he can only keep her ghost in his mind as he looks forward in his life. If he were to marry, he would marry for love, and his family's fall from grace would be the perfect moment for him to break free and live his own life.

An adept at sports and academics, Helmut will enjoy both an intellectual discourse of ancient texts and philosophies as well as a healthy competition of horse riding or croquet. Or, if he truly desires a connection, perhaps he will offer a private horse ride with the one who captured his interest. Horses have been his most faithful companion, after all.

backstory
Helmut was born to Miss Edith, a fair maiden of common blood, in the town of Steinfurt. As a bastard son with no father, he and his mother faced heavy prejudice and lived a very harsh life, but the love his mother had for him was incomparable to anything else. Miss Edith would have moved mountain and river for her son to get the best he could, and that included working from dawn til dusk while leaving him with their neighbours and their children. Life was simpler when it was just the two of them, and while they lacked in gold and silver, they had more than enough love to share between one another. Even today, Helmut will look back at his childhood days with envy and melancholy for what was, and indeed what could have been had his father not found him.

Indeed, it was quite a shock when, as a young boy of ten, he came home to find a nobleman and an army at his door. His mother, in agony at having to let her son depart for the Rosenberg estate as a rightful son of the Lord, had wept more than she'd ever had before. No amount of begging from either party had moved the nobleman, a vassal of his father, to allow Miss Edith to come along; and so Helmut departed for the Rosenberg estate alone and scared, without a familiar face in sight.

He never lost touch with his mother however. After learning how to read, write, and speak in a formal manner, he sent letter after letter to his mother's home, some being pleas to come back while others were open letters of rage towards the Rosenbergs. Sigismund Rosenberg, though he was his father, was a miserable man with an even more miserable wife, and had three pureborn children apart from Helmut which took priority over him. Even though he'd dragged him there by the nape of his neck, he'd simply stuck him in a room and gave him enough attendants to acknowledge him as 'his own.' Though perhaps it had been for the best, since Helmut had no need for a father figure and was quite combattant and argumentative around the backhanded nature of the nobility. In fact, both parties were in agreement when Helmut requested to get education further away from home, and thus he went to Bavaria from the age of twelve to seventeen and was taught horse riding, hunting, and basic latin along with the sons of a Bavarian Lord, Otto Von Hoffman.

Those five years were by far the best years of his life. He had been content and had gotten a taste of luxury and belonging with the Von Hoffmans, and would have stayed longer had his mother not fallen deathly ill. Distraught at the fate of his mother, Helmut had rushed back to Steinfurt and his familial home to spend as much time with his mother as she could afford. Though he'd ended up with less time than planned and his mother's soul left her body behind after a mere three months of fighting, leaving him motherless and alone.

Until 1807, when the Rosenbergs came to power and became kings, Helmut stayed in his home town. He spent this time in a dazed blur, his melancholy growing bigger by the day as he shut himself in his home for longer and longer. It wasn't until a vassal of the new Westphalian Kingdom came to his door to drag him back that he went home, his hair longer and wilder, his eyes more cold and brooding, and his attitude sharper and more aggressive. At his father's coronation, he was given the name 'Florian,' in honour of Steinfurt's flower culture, and an allowance he would never see the bottom of. Even though he was an illegitimate child, he was now called a prince, and would be treated as such. Lavish clothes, food, and activities surrounded him at all times, though they now felt emptier than ever before.

In an attempt to separate himself from his family, Helmut enrolled in the University of Heideilberg to study philosophy, leaving the capital palace and his home to pursue his studies. He stayed there for another five long years, leisurely learning whatever it was that fascinated him all while continuing his patronage to the university to ensure his enrollment would prevail no matter his grades, and he had enjoyed his time as much as one could right before being dethroned.

What an irony. He had been extremely happy to learn of British forces recapturing the Rhineland and, for a moment, felt completely free of his name. The problem was, he was a prince of this dynasty, and couldn't openly rejoice just yet. And so, with nothing else to do but this, he publily renounced the title and refused to fight for his father in exchange of being able to keep his wealth. It was all he had left after all, and if he wanted to start anew, he would need it.

Now, he just had to figure out what an English social season was, and who he would like to spend the rest of his life with. That's not a tall order, is it?
Love Language
Touch: Helmut gets incredibly needy and demanding with affection once he gets attached, and reciprocates the love tenfold
MBTI
INTJ: The Architect.
Father
Sigismund Rosenberg. He and his father do not see eye to eye on many things, and in fact, absolutely hate being in the presence of one another. The elder Lord Rosenberg, however, has kept his youngest son in his household to maintain the illusion of a strong marriage with his wife. Helmut would rather never go back to his household again, and will sooner proclaim the entire Rosenberg family dead to him than acknowledge them as his trueblood relatives.
Mother
'Miss' Edith. Helmut was very close with his mother before her passing, and holds deep melancholy in his heart even to this day for her absence. He very rarely talks about her however, not being able to stand whatever insult another person might throw at her memory. The nobility is, after all, incredibly callous towards the common class, and he would never let anybody tarnish her memory and spirit beyond the grave.
Oldest Brother
Adelbert David Rosenberg. As the oldest, purest son of Sigismund Rosenberg, Adel has been a pompous, arrogant thorn in Helmut's side. He relentlessly tormented Helmut during their childhoods and often insulted Miss Edith and whatever other connection Helmut had had before coming to the estate. Though he had started as a young boy being led by his mother, his cruel behaviour continued well past the point of acceptable childhood behaviour, and the two brothers--if you could even call them that--cannot stay in the same room as one another to this day. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find them on the same estate.
Second Oldest Brother
Niklaus Wenzel Rosenberg. Niklaus was a special case. Previously having been the middle child--not loved by his mother for coming last and not loved by his father for coming first--he clung onto Helmut's status as illegitimate and younger to relentlessly torment him and bring him down. After all, if there was someone below him, he stood to gain affection from his parents. After Helmut left, he went back to being a forgotten middle child, and still harbours deep resentment for his younger half-brother... though it truly isn't his fault their parents are so cruel to him.
YOUNGEST SISTER
Anna Maria Rosenberg. Also known as the blooming rose of the family, she is the precious youngest sister everybody would dream of... Except for Helmut, that is. Don't let her appearance fool you, she can be just as vicious as her brothers in matters of tormenting and hate. Though their relationship became better once Helmut departed for Heidelberg University, their animosity turning into calm indifference and a slow exchange of letters, and they have--by far--the friendlest relationship between siblings yet. Neither one of them loves each other however, and they would rather keep it that way.
REPUTATION
Helmut does not have the cleanest reputation: he is known as abrasive, cold and brutally tactless in many social circles. However, he is also known as a former prince with riches beyond one's comprehension, which wields a dual sword.
RUMOURS AND SCANDALS
Is an illegitimate child of common descent.
How do you feel about the gossip that's already circulating?
"Gossip will run in high society like a hare will run from a predator--it is an inevitable fact of life, and I hardly find it necessary to pay special attention to it."
Are you excited to be part of the season?
"A part of me is interested in seeing these new faces London seems to love, but I can't say I'm all too excited about jumping into false pleasantries and pits of lies."
Do you think you'll be married by the end of the season?
"I'm unsure. Maybe I will be, maybe I won't be. I'd like to see what the future holds for me before making judgement."

IMPORTANT INFO
─ PRUE ( prudence lavinia bolton )
─ 𐙚 Nicknames: everyone calls her prue. her family, though, has called her prudie most of her life.
─ Sexuality: heterosexual
─ Gender: cisgendered female
─ Age: twenty
─ Birthday: february 24th - pisces
─ Role: the youngest daughter of viscount bolton

VISUALS
─ Height: 5'4"
─ Hair: dark brown and long. somehow, it's natural state seems to defy the rules of style, insisting on having a slight bend that would keep it from being perfectly pin straight but disallow it to be defined as a wave. luckily, she's tuned into all the latest fashions, so it's almost always properly put up and you'll rarely find a hair out of place.
─ Eyes: dark brown.
─ Body Modifications: earlobe piercings.
── SCARS 𐙚 she has a smalls scar behind her left ear where a vase fell on her as a child and cut her. she learned not to play so rowdily in the house after that. it's not typically visible due to the perfectly styled ringlets in her hair.
── DISTINGUISHING FEATURES 𐙚 round cheeks, full lips, large eyes, sweet smile.
─ Faceclaim: adelaide kane

PERSONALITY
𐙚 ─ Virtues:
  • outgoing - prudence is a very extraverted girl, finding joy in speaking to others and making friends. she seems to be most herself and happiest when around others, often seeking out company. she's bubbly, a natural conversationalist. she loves people, and loves speaking to them even more. not to fret! she is not too domineering in conversation, and her interest in others makes her a good listener as well.
  • happy - from afar, many remark on just how bright and happy prue can be. her joy endows her with a sweet and loving nature, giving her the ability to be kindhearted and caring to those around her. she will pick up any sister who is in need of help. she finds the positive side of everything, having an optimistic outlook on life.
  • proper - after a lifetime of watching her older siblings all debut and conduct themselves in society, prudence knows just about everything you're supposed to do. she can be quite a stickler for the rules. she would never intentionally act out and often gently reminds others when they're miss-stepping and not showing proper decorum.
  • confident - the young woman is very sure of herself. she lacks an insecurity that many new debuts have, acting with conviction and certainty when conducting herself. while she does appeal to the rules and proper behavior, she enjoys making her own decisions and is not often keen on being told what to do.
  • romantic - don't you just love love? prudence sure does. especially the more frivolous aspects of it, where she may be wooed and desired. with more than one sister who has had a successful season, she has the luxury to be searching for her perfect match. a true romance is really what's motivating her this season. she wants the complete package: love, drama, and a proposal by the end of the season.
𐙚 ─ Vices:
  • gossip - prue's most glaring vice is the one she revels in the most: she loves to gossip. she cannot help herself. she is drawn to drama and anything interesting, often seeking the novel. she has a way of coaxing interesting bits of information out of you and eavesdropping on your conversations. she doesn't spread the gossip maliciously, though. she almost always bears no ill-intent when sharing. she is just so overeager to share with others, that she physically cannot keep to herself. be wary if you entrust her with your secret. if she were to withhold information from anyone her head just may explode.
  • emotional - some may say dramatic, kinder folk will choose emotional to describe dear prudie. she wears her heart on her sleeve and feels her feelings very intensely. she is easy to upset, even with her cheery disposition. she is no stranger to tears or excusing herself from a gathering with a flare.
  • selfish - while she likes people and does her best to treat them with kindness, ultimately, she looks out for herself. her needs will almost always come above the needs of others. she's been a little spoiled as the youngest daughter, she's used to getting what she wants.
  • oblivious - while she's hyperaware of what's going on with everyone else, she is blissfully unaware of how she is perceived in society. she doesn't respond well to subtle slights and does much better when someone is honest and upfront with her. it lends to a stubbornness that doesn't quite fit with her typical agreeable nature. when prue has made up her mind about something, she is unlikely to change.
  • idealist - prudence's head is up in the clouds. she often spends time day dreaming and fantasizing. she's so caught up in her own mind and the lives of everyone else, she can rarely see what is right in front of her.

─ Likes: romance, gossip, drama, dancing, spending time with friends, anything new, fashion, music, warm weather, animals, birds, stories(reading, but she prefers hearing a tale recounted in person), being wooed, theatre, having fun, her family, boys, spending time in town.
─ Dislikes: boredom, the quiet, being alone, horses, breaking rules, dark colors, rude people, being ignored, the cold, sour moods, being bossed around, mean people, cakes.
─ Hobbies: birdkeeping(she has two songbirds that she cherishes and cares for), singing, violin, embroidery, dancing, studying foreign language.

RELATIONS
─ Family:

    • prudence has always been fairly close to her father. the tales he told when he came home from trips either alone or with his sons had sparked her initial interest in gossip. whatever stories he had to tell when coming back to the family home had always piqued her interest. she would settle down next to him and hang on his every word. she's quite proud to be a bolton, especially with her father at the head of the family.
  • viscountess ann bolton - mother - deceased
    • the viscountess passed when prudie was young. at age 11, she had lost her mother to illness. she was close to her before her passing, but has mostly healed from the loss. she turned to her sisters for a matronly role, and they did not disappoint.
  • sarah banfield - older sister - living
    • after their mother passed away, sarah took on the care of her younger sisters. prudence is close with all of her sisters, but sarah is the oldest and most motherly out of the six of them. she often turns to sarah when she needs some mature advice. in turn, sarah has spoiled prudence whenever she could. prudence cried when sarah got married and left the home.
  • letitia abery - older sister - living
    • letty and prudie probably have the most strained relationship of the bolton siblings. they never really saw eye-to-eye. the gap in their ages didn't help settle their differences either. letty sees prue has a spoiled little girl who needs to mind her business. prudence thinks that letty is a stuck-up who thinks she is better than everyone else and would be a spinster if not for sarah.
  • martha giles - older sister - living
    • martha is a quiet and reserved girl, so she and prudence have a rather neutral relationship. they love and care for each other, but aren't as close to each other the way they are with some of their other sisters.
  • honora comerford - older sister - living
    • honora was prudence's first peak into the life of society girls and the courting seasons. honora usually has a secret to share with prue, accompanied by a playful wink. honora is sweet, but grown up and free-spirited. the boltons were surprised when she found a husband in her first season. they were certain she'd sit on the wall and wait as long as possible before getting married.
  • timothy bolton - older brother - living
    • like honora, timothy is a free-spirit and is quite taken with prudence. he has helped in her spoiling, and offers her stories and gossip from his own travels. timothy is a little immature and has refused to court anyone, despite expectations for him to marry. instead, he hangs around the fringes of the social season and freely shares what he overhears with prudence. she loves his affection and hangs on every word he has to offer.
  • esther acomb - older sister - living
  • louisa fletcher - older sister - living
    • as the sisters closest to prudence's age, esther and louisa are her best friends in the family. they fueled the fire of little, gossip-hungry prudie by recalling the events of each night both in social seasons they were old enough to observe and social seasons they were old enough to participate in. both girls are boy obsessed and loved to listen to the stories about others. if these three are together, you can be certain they are up to no good.

─ Reputation: currently, the bolton reputation is pristine. the bolton girls have all done well in securing marriages free of scandal, most of them in their first seasons. the viscount is generally well-liked by the ton, though pitied for never finding a wife after the passing of the viscountess. the bolton girls and timothy have all avoided any scandal that would tarnish the family reputation, a precedent that prudence is expected to follow. those who have known her about the ton since her childhood are aware of her love of drama and stories, though it has not put her under any harsh light. as a rule follower, she has always been seen as a proper young lady who will represent her family well this social season.
─ Rumors + Scandals: fortunately, there are no rumors or scandals regarding prudence to be heard of! unfortunately for the others, she knows all about those surrounding them. sometimes, her own speculation becomes lasting rumor. it is best advised to be cautious in what you say around her. she has a way of drawing the secrets you keep out of you.

BACKGROUND
─ 𐙚 Background:
  • prudence's life was easy enough. she was born in late february as the final child of viscount and viscountess bolton. with several siblings ahead of her in the lineage, including a singular brother who would be expected to take on the duties of their father, prudie was free to live life however she saw fit. she grew up particularly close to the two sisters closest to her own age, forming a small trio whose bond was so tight they'd do anything for each other. the girls would stay up late, sharing about the boys the liked, what they heard the adults talking about, and who they saw in town. prudence grew close with most of her siblings, except for letitia. sarah is the oldest at 28 years old.
  • her love for gossip really originates with her father, who would return home from travels with stories to tell. as the bolton children aged, most became less and less interested in their old man's stories. that was not the case for prudence. she loved hearing the tales he had to share, and would cuddle up next to him by the fire to hear the child and woman-friendly version of everything that happened. she began dreaming of going on her own travels one day, who she'd meet, and what would happen.
  • as daughter of a viscount and sister to relatively well-behaved children, she never had to worry about anything. finances were always in order, she could always afford what she'd wanted, and there was never any threat of scandal on the horizon. the majority of her family took the time to spoil her when they could, doting on the baby of the family.
  • prudence's mother, the viscountess passed from illness when prudence was just 11. her oldest sister, sarah, stepped in to takeover the matronly duties of the home, despite preparing for her debut the following season. stepping into ann's role further bonded prudence to sarah. she sees her as a second mother and feels quite strongly about her.
  • with the love she feels for most of her siblings, she is always excited when her sisters come to visit. they are all married now, and no longer live in the home. the baron estate is currently inhabited by just prudence, her brother, and her father. while none of her sisters' husbands are notably grand men, they all are well enough off that the girls should not have to worry about their futures. sarah, martha, and honora all have children. letitia is the only bolton sister to have taken more than one season to get married.
  • prue has always been around the fringes of the social season, either overhearing her sisters swap stories at the end of the night, catching wind of gossip between the adults when in town, or witnessing it herself when she was finally old enough to observe from the sidelines. she's always had a fantasy of being swept up in a whirlwind romance, complete with pearl-grabbing drama. but in a way where she doesn't break any of the rules, of course. or gets her heart broken. she has heard just about everything about everyone in the ton about this point. she hardly ever forgets a juicy piece of gossip.
  • her main passions in her studies are language and music. she adores singing and often spends time studying french, german, and italian. though, she has been taught to play violin too.
  • her father brought her back two song birds from his travels a couple years ago. she absolutely adores them and takes care of them whenever she can. she'll hum melodies back and forth with them. their names are gibbs and ignaz.
  • there was an incident in her youth where she was bit by a horse. she's had a healthy fear of them ever since. horse bites hurt a lot.
  • growing up so close to her sisters, she has not had many friendships outside of the bolton family. however, she adores the bond that forms between two girls and feels most herself when she has close friendships to rely on.
  • prudence has always been a stickler for the rules, unless it has to do with her spreading gossip.

QUESTIONS
How do you feel about the gossip that's already circulating?
𐙚 ─ "About whom? There's quite a few out in the air. You'll have to be more specific. I feel excited. There is love in the air and drama on the horizon. I cannot wait for it all to unfold!"

Are you excited to be part of the season?
𐙚 ─ "Oh, absolutely! I've been waiting for this day since Sarah's debut. I've always wanted to be a part of the season. I'll be restless until we truly start."

Do you think you'll be married by the end of the season?
