The New Jedi Order

Creation

Luke Skywalker founded the New Jedi Order from the ashes of the previously demolished Jedi Order, which was obliterated by Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, and the Galactic Empire. After the war was finished, Luke met other Jedi and Force sensitives, and he later recruited them to join his new Order.

Headquarters

The Jedi Praxeum: This was the first HQ used by Luke early on in the new Order's history. There, he trained many students of various ages in the ways of the Jedi. Among the teachers there would include masters Tionne and Kyle Katarn. The Jedi Academy would remain one of the New Jedi Order's primary training facilities until it was destroyed by the Yuuzhan Vong, who transformed it and the area around it to suit their needs.

Jedi Academy on Ossus: Ossus was one of the main headquarters of the Jedi Order thousands of years prior, before it was almost destroyed in a plot by Exar Kun. The planet held many artifacts, which were recovered by Luke Skywalker and his students, who created a new base ther

The Hidden Temple: The Hidden Temple on Taivas served as a hiding place for the New Jedi Order

Shedu Maad Academy:

Shedu Maad was a planet in the Hapes Cluster, located within its Transitory Mists region. It was used as a hidden base for the Jedi Coalition after they evacuated their temporary base at Endor. It was here that the Coalition defeated Darth Caedus and ended the Second Galactic Civil War. A Jedi academy was established on the planet after the war and was still in use as of 44 ABY.

Lothal Temple:

The Temple on the planet Lothal was an ancient building established and maintained by the Jedi Order prior to the execution of Order 66. It was a place where Jedi Masters would take their Padawans to determine their readiness to become Jedi.

This temple had a hidden entrance, which could only be revealed by both master and apprentice working together using the Force to lift the exposed portion. This would rise in a corkscrew, counter-clockwise motion. If one of the pair lost focus, the outer building would sink back down into the ground.

Once inside, the apprentice must continue on alone, cut off from the master waiting at the entrance area. Should the apprentice fail the tests and never return, the master would remain trapped inside the temple forever, unable to raise up the building alone. Thusly, masters that brought their Padawans to take the tests put their own life into their student's hands.

Learning and teaching the ways of the Force

Philosophies

In the new Jedi Order, emphasis was placed on learning through experience. While formal classes were held, students were also asked to establish their own training programs, developing their own individual approaches to the Force. Initially, not all students were satisfied with this model, most notably Corran Horn who eventually left the Order (only to return some time later).

Luke Skywalker oversaw the teaching, but did also delegate teaching responsibilities to students so-called Jedi Trainers who were specifically skilled at certain areas. Thus, for example Kam Solusar would instruct his fellow students in lightsaber combat in the early days of the New Jedi Order, while Corran Horn, who used to be a law enforcer with CorSec would teach unarmed combat and self-defense. Tionne Solusar would specialize in Jedi lore and pass on her knowledge to her fellow students.

With time there were enough skilled Jedi Knights, and some Jedi Masters, in the new order to start approximating the Master-Padawan model of the Old Order. However, since there were still only few members of the New Order, Masters would be assigned multiple students. In accordance with the learning-by-doing principle, students would accompany Masters on missions to gain experience and they would sometimes be sent on missions on their own. One student who benefited particularly much from this model, was Jaden Korr who was apprenticed to Katarn. Katarn's other student, Rosh Penin, however was unhappy with this model, and was once heard complaining to a fellow Jedi student that he felt his talents were not fostered and that he felt Katarn was holding him back. Korr rose to become one of the most skilled Knights of the New Order while Penin turned to the dark side, but was eventually redeemed, having learned a lesson about patience.

The teachings of the New Order differed from those of the Old in several ways, and were closer to those practiced by the Jedi before the Great Sith War. Jedi were allowed to marry and have families, and each Jedi Master could train multiple apprentices. Jedi were allowed to use conventional weapons and armor besides their lightsabers, and the wearing of the Jedi robes, while popular, was no longer mandatory. For a long time, the Order was also much less centrally controlled, with each Jedi being given much greater personal freedom and responsibility.

Jedi High Council: formerly known as the Masters' Council, was the leading body of the New Jedi Order founded by Luke Skywalker. As of 35 ABY, the Masters' Council had formed as an informal body responsible for the leadership of the Order. However, at the conclusion of the Swarm War, Grand Master Skywalker formed an official High Council, from the loose collection of Jedi Masters, that mirrored the Council of the Jedi Order of the Galactic Republic. Both the Masters' Council and its successor consisted of the Order's twelve wisest and most powerful Masters.

The Jedi Codes

The Original Jedi Code

Emotion, yet peace.

Ignorance, yet knowledge.

Passion, yet serenity.

Chaos, yet harmony.

Death, yet the Force.

The Old Orders Jedi Code

There is no emotion, there is peace.

There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.

There is no passion, there is serenity.

There is no chaos, there is harmony.

There is no death, there is the Force.

The New Jedi Order's Code

Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.

Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect.

Jedi respect all life, in any form.

Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.

Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.

The Junior Jedi Oath

I promise to uphold the Jedi Code. I promise to respect all life and to help those weaker than myself, to use the Force only for good, never to draw my lightsaber in anger, only to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to find new ways to improve myself so that I may be an example to others, and to defend the Galxay

Crystal Code

The crystal code was a mantra traditionally recited by a Jedi while witnessing his/her student assembling his/her lightsaber. However, this was not a constant, as a separate tradition held that Jedi students should fabricate and assemble their lightsabers in private, without their master's guidance or intervention.

The crystal is the heart of the blade.

The heart is the crystal of the Jedi.

The Jedi is the crystal of the Force.

The Force is the blade of the heart.

All are intertwined.

The crystal, the blade, the Jedi.

We are one.

Je'daii Oath

There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.

There is no fear; there is power.

I am the heart of the Force.

I am the revealing fire of light.

I am the mystery of darkness

In balance with chaos and harmony,

Immortal in the Force.

The One Sith

At some point before 30 ABY, a Sith known as Darth Krayt founded the One Sith or the New Sith Order on Korriban, the ancient Sith burial world. In this new Sith cult, most of the followers were trained from birth, sported a red-and-black tattooed appearance and carried lightsabers with a yorik coral-styled hilt design. This Sith Order was considered heretical by the holocrons of Darth Andeddu and Darth Bane.

Organization

Unlike the previous incarnation of the Sith Krayt abolished the Rule of Two, Darth Bane's ancient dictate commanding that there could be only two Sith at any one time—Master and apprentice. Instead, there would be the Rule of One—that One being the Sith Order itself, under which there would be many Sith, all trained to follow the Dark Lord of the Sith with blind obedience, even at the cost of their own lives. Eschewing the unisex usage of Lord by the Order of Darth Bane, the One Sith restored the title of Sith Lady for its female members, such as Lady Maladi, Lady Rauder or Lady Talon.

Among the One Sith of both sexes, those who had proven both their power and loyalty were bestowed the title and rank of Darth.

Sith Intelligence and Assassination(Darth Nix)

Sith Intelligence and Assassination was an organization within the One Sith tasked with information gathering, interrogation and political assassination intended to further the goals of the Dark Lord of the Sith and strengthen its power.

Hands(Darth Vindicaa)

Hand was the name Darth Krayt gave to his personal assassins. Lord Krayt bestowed this rank only to his most loyal and deadliest followers, such as Darth Talon.

Fist(Darth Inexor)

Fist was the title held by the Sith Lord who served as the supreme commander of the Sith military forces.

Voice/Regent(Darth Tigran)

The Sith Lord who held the ranks of Voice and Regent was the second in command of the One Sith, serving as advisor to the Dark Lord of the Sith and as his caretaker and mouthpiece during Lord Krayt's periods in stasis.

Loremaster(Darth Kroan)

The Loremaster was a Sith Lord who kept the number of Sith artifacts and records attained by the Order.

Inquisitor(Darth Homiiz)

Inquisitors were Sith Lords responsible for extracting information of enemy prisoners. They employed a number of techniques, ranging from imprisonment and interrogation to torture.

Troopers(Darth Stalker/Leader)

Sith troopers were strong Force-sensitives beings, who were secretly chosen by Darth Krayt shortly after their birth and augmented through cybernetic implants in order to turn them into servants of unquestionable loyalty and obedience to Krayt and the dark side.

Sith Bases

These places served as the training academys and military bases of the One Sith Order. They contained secrect opens onlly allies, sith masters and students knew of and otherwise kept the temples hidden with sith magics and guarded with thralls.

Temple of the Sith:
formed from what used to be the new Jedi Temple, was a building located on Coruscant. After having served the New Jedi Order since the end of the Yuuzhan Vong War, it was captured by the One Sith secretly of the battles with the lost tribe. This temple was overseen by the Voice of the dark lord of the sith. It was here that the Hands also awaited word from the master

Sith academy of Honoghr: established by the Brotherhood of Darkness, and was active near the end of the New Sith Wars, the sith used it to train Warriors and Marauders. Here these warriors would learn to focus their emotions into a raging battle fury. Sorcerers of the dark side would mold these warriors into ravenous beasts, used for the sole purpose of destroying enemies of the Brotherhood of Darkness. During the rise of Darth Krayts sith order, they secretly retook this academy to train there warriors, the Marauders where enhanced with vong implants.

Sith academy of Iridonia: established by the Brotherhood of Darkness near the end of the New Sith Wars, the Sith used it to train adepts and acolytes. Trainees here were apprenticed to Sith Masters. The skills learned here equipped adepts with abilities on par with Jedi Knights. When Darth Krayt's One Sith Order was first established, Iridonia was amongst the first world to secretly pledge its allegiance to the new Dark Lord. Since Zabraks were traditionally a species that produced many Force-sensitives, Iridonia contributed more apprentices to the One Sith than any other world.

The Sith Academy of Umbara: established by the Brotherhood of Darkness near the end of the New Sith Wars. One of several academies established for Sith training during the era, the Umbaran academy was utilized for training Sith assassins and spies. Taught the ways of the dark side of the Force, and schooled in secrecy and deception, students of the Umbaran academy preferred to use the Force to kill, and became some of the deadliest assassins in the galaxy. During Darth Krayts rise, it did this still and doubled as the base of Sith Intelligence and Assassination.

Darth Krayts Fortress: Once the fortress of Belia Darzu was an abandoned stronghold on the planet Tython, once housed by the ancient Shi'ido changeling Dark Lord of the Sith, Belia Darzu. From here, Darzu would perform her alchemical experiments. Her greatest experiments included the union of metal machinery with living things. These technobeasts, as they were called, resided in Darzu's fortress long after her death. In 990 BBY, Darth Bane traveled to Tython in search of the fortress, after receiving information that the secret of creating Holocrons could be found there. When Darth Krayt came here, he took over the fort and the planet at large, he used it to make his Sith Troopers, and build his force's that slowly spread through out the galaxy, and he personality oversaw the progress. The fort was also where the leaders of the sith, the new aged Dark Council, met with the dark lord to plan.

The Sith Code

known asQotsisajak in Sith language, was the mantra that reinforced the core beliefs of the Sith Order. It was considered the dark side counterpart to the Jedi Code, and was first authored on the planet Korriban in6900 BBY by the Jedi heretic Sorzus Syn. The code remained remarkably unchanged through the millennia, as the Sith Lord Darth Bane still taught the words of Sorzus Syn when he began rebuilding the Sith Order around 1000 BBY, after the Seventh Battle of Ruusan.

The Sith Code, as written by Sorzus Syn and taught by Darth Bane

Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.

There also existed a version of the code in Sith language, known asQotsisajak—literally "Way of the Sith doctrine"

Knights Of The Empire/Imperial Knights

The Imperial Knights, formally theKnights of the Empire, were an order of Force-practitioners loyal to theEmperor of the Fel Empire. They were fully trained in the ways of the Forceand rejected the dark side of the Force, unlike previous Imperial Force-based organizations. Though they did not draw on the dark side, they did not strictly follow the light side either, and were viewed as Gray by the New Jedi Order.

The Imperial Knights swore loyalty to their Emperor, serving the Force as embodied by him. However, if the Emperor were to ever fall to the dark side, it was the duty of the Imperial Knights to either remove him from power or bring him back to the light, as ultimately, it was the Force and the Empire to which they owed their allegiance.

Organization and philosophy

The Imperial Knights are a highly-organized order, dedicated to the preservation of the Empire and the defense of the Emperor, and were sometimes referred to as "Imperial Jedi".

It was said that the first loyalty of the Imperial Knights was not to the Force, but to the Empire as personified in the Emperor. Imperial Knights were in the service of the Emperor for life, and the punishment for leaving the Order or disobeying the Emperor was death. However, there was an exception to this law. Although the Imperial Knights ultimately served the Force through the Emperor, this was only true if he himself served the light side of the Force. If he were ever to turn to the dark side, their duty was to either bring him back to the light or remove him from power. This policy was put into place at the time of the Order's founding, and as such, the Imperial Knights did ultimately owe their allegiance to the Empire and the Force. According to Master Treis Sinde, the Imperial Knights served the Force by serving an Empire that brought order, with their duty being to the Emperor. Sinde also asserted that sacrificing innocents when necessary for the greater good was the Imperial way.

The Imperial Knights were trained in many of the same philosophies and techniques as the Jedi, but differed markedly in their credos and method. The Imperial Knights viewed the Force as a tool–a powerful one to be respected, but not one that they spent time contemplating and meditating on. They knew the dangers of falling to the dark side, and believed that the Force could not be used out of anger or selfishness. Managing one's emotions and controlling one's fear in the face of adversity was a paramount aspect of Imperial Knight ideology. The strict mental discipline and obedience to orders that was part of their training made Imperial Knights less susceptible to the strong emotions that would draw students of the Jedi over to the dark side.Despite not drawing on the dark side, the Imperial Knights were said to not strictly follow the light side either, obeying the orders of the Emperor before anything else. As such, the Jedi viewed the Imperial Knights as "gray".The Imperial Knights were also considered Gray Jedi by the Jedi Order due to the Jedi's belief that they did not truly follow the way of the Force.

Training

Recruitment within the Imperial Knights was limited to those who demonstrated loyalty to the Emperor, in addition to potential in the Force. Upon being identified, a potential student would be drafted into Imperial service to study under a veteran Knight on the Imperial capital of Bastion, and would continue studying under that master until their own knighthood was warranted, although other Knights would occasionally assist in their training. Training could be very harsh, but not cruel, and could often take years, but no student ever failed in their training, as the Emperor demanded and always received success. In training, a student would learn all they needed to know in order to defend the Emperor against all those who would harm him. Upon completing their training, they would serve the Emperor as a bodyguard and agent, fighting until the death. Their training saw them learn to use the Force in order to transform themselves into living weapons and shields.

Mastery

Several Imperial Knights bore the title of Master. Master Antares Draco was officially in command of the Order, and was at the head of its disciplined command structure. The title of Master was reserved for only the highest-ranking Imperial Knights, with the designation subject to Jagged Fel's approval. Imperial Knights were permitted to take on one apprentice at a time, but only after having mastered their own skills to a sufficient degree. There was very little differentiation between those who had trained apprentices and those who had not, owing to the fact that the Imperial Knights had little time for any master save for the rightful Emperor of the galaxy.

A unique position within the organization was that of master armorer. The master armorer crafted specialized suits of life-preserving armor for Knights who had been severely injured.

Armor and equipment

Each Imperial Knight carried a standardized White lightsaber that produced a white blade. This symbolized the order's unity, as well as the fact that each member was less than the organization that they served. The lightsabers were crafted using synthetic crystals, using knowledge from Palpatine's Book of Anger, in a process bereft of ceremony or significance. To an Imperial Knight, a lightsaber was merely a tool, and their training devoted as much attention to fighting in vehicles, bare-handed, and with the Force.

The standard uniform was a suit of crimson armor, that was made from the same material found in the armor of Darth Vader. It was interwoven with small threads of phrik filament to provide additional resistance to lightsaber attacks. The Imperial insignia was printed on the left shoulder pad and right gauntlet; the gauntlet itself was composed of pure cortosis, rendering any lightsaber blade that touched it useless for several minutes. The uniform also included a black hood and cape. As skilled masters of the Force, Imperial Knights knew how to get the most out of their armor.

The master armorer of the Imperial Knights crafted specialized life-preserving armor for Knights who had been severely injured.

Powers and abilities

The Imperial Knights were fully-trained Force-Users, and were sometimes referred to as "fully-trained Jedi".They were looked upon as inferior by the Sith, often being referred to as "Fel's Forcelings" yet some in the galaxy maintained that there was no denying their discipline, ability, or power. The Imperial Knights were said to be among the most talented and dangerous Force-users in the galaxy, and every bit as capable of in the use of the Force as the Jedi.

The Imperial Knights made extensive use of their combat armor, and were as such, were constantly prepared for combat. They trained strictly for combat and not contemplation, having even developed two new combat forms, the more aggressive Praetoria Vonil and the defensive minded Praetoria Ishu. They also learned to fight using many of the same lightsaber combat techniques as the Jedi. The Imperial Knights were warriors rather than negotiators, a fact that they would never make excuses for. Their training saw them learn how to use the Force to transform themselves into living weapons and shields.

The Imperial Knights were skilled with various uses of the Force, such as levitation,mind-tricks,and lightsaber combat. As with other Force-using groups, proficiency with a lightsaber varied from one Imperial Knight to the next.

Knights were also said to be very skilled behind the controls of a fighter.
