I ought to not have much work for the next few days but it's likely to pick back up in the coming weeks, and it involves a lot of travelling with no guaranteed wi-fi so my posting will not be super consistent for the foreseeable future. I should be able to warn at least three days in advance for days of inactivity.

No worries, as long as you communicate with us. Just make sure to maneuver your character properly or leave me with some instructions whenever you expect to be away for more than a week without a chance to post. Guess in Star Trek terms, each episode tends to focus on one or a few persons. Once things settle down, it will be your character's turn in the limelight.

NPCs will respond organically to PCs. Don't be alarmed if I come up with a new post without anyone else chipping in. However, I won't advance the plot this way. It would just consist mainly of characters talking or doing some minor things. I'm hoping that this way, things will never get boring and the world might seem alive without causing future posts to become 'out of sync' or 'out of touch'

However, I'll try to limit it according to the flow of time. I've just made a short post of dialogue.

EDIT: If NPC reactions do clash with the next post, I'll be the one editing my post or outright deleting it if I have to, you guys don't have to worry about it.

Okay, let me know when you'll be able to join us. Conjunctivitis is tough. Had a couple of those in my youth. I was still able to see (probably a different kind of Conjunctivitis), but I'd wish that I don't have to use my eyes... :(

Anyway, how is the rest of you doing?

I can normally see, but I put this salve in my eyes after which evererything is in a haze for hours. Especially letters.

Brings back memories. For me though, the doctor prescribed eyedrops. Man, I remember that my eyes were practically sealed shut by the gunk and pus that'd leak out of my eyes every morning.

I'm not in nearly as dire straits, but I'm ill. I've got plans for a post, but I keep dithering over how to do it. Working on it, but it's slow going, sorry. I get like this.

Yeah well, you still have the other half of the week, so no problem.

Get well soon :)

I decided to take the counselor/doctor path, because I saw there was enough of science by now. Working on bio now.

Yeah, depending on who turns up in play, I may respec Kimberly to be in Ops or Engineering or something else not already covered. Just to round out the roles.

We have an epidemic it seems. I feel a little better but had to catch up on work first.

You don't say. Just a few weeks ago, I was truly bedridden for the first time in my life. A rather vicious strain of flu it seems that gave me a real combo - fever, cold, flu, cough and headaches to match. Couldn't sleep for a night, so I really get to suffer for another extra 8 hours, so I guess you can add insomnia to the list :( Thank God all that was past, and before I created this RP...

Nice :) Can't wait to see it. If you need to ask anything about any RP-specific lore, go ahead.

Actually that goes for everyone - if you've hit a stumbling block because of RP lore, go ahead. I haven't created character sheets for the other NPCs, but you can always request information about them, if it's something your character should know.

Although the Captain will naturally have something to say about that. Most likely, Kimberly will still be on the bridge though, unless there's an emergency elsewhere on the ship. However, I don't mind splitting the gang up at times... It'd have to depend on the plot's direction though.

I'll put it a different way; depending on who turns in a character sheet for what position, I'm happy to leave Kimberly in Communications or I'm also happy to have her occupy another position that is on the bridge but isn't covered by someone else. Whatever makes for easier plot and story for you, boss. :)

Raven: I think as a counselor/doctor (even if only in training) I should have their psychological profiles and list of medical conditions at least XD

Kimberly is pretty versatile anyway, right...with an android memory.

lol thanks... Although I try to make the story/plot as realistic as possible, so it'll all depend on the leadership and demands on the ship. You guys will know more as the plot progresses, since there's going to be a briefing/conference.

And your character will most likely be made counselor for the lack of such personnel. With an optimal crew of 141, the USS Vigilance wouldn't have one... And the USS Vigilance is currently undermanned. Anyway, let me know the information you need for your post and I'll make those information freely available. I think it's better this way than to try to write up everything. I'll also try to provide you with any information that you might need. I'll even create a lore page for information that I've dispensed for all to use in case they need them.

One glaring thing is that the part about the Kraekiran biology/physiology/psychology is largely incomplete.

But of course, if you've watched the TOS episode...

Yeeeeeah, well, I'm trying to avoid going full Commander Data in this RP. I envision the 24th century Galor androids as much better at passing for human (they actually look it, plus even in the original Star Trek they evidenced some slight emotion which is the basis for Kimberly's Emotion Emulation software that lets her approach things emotionally). I also envision them as being not quite as strong, certainly not as fast and probably not as 'smart'. The 23rd century varieties could loadshare their memories and processing power to solve difficult problems. With Kimberly being a 24th century version, post-Federation and designed for long-range deployment, I imagine her actual capacity and pure processing power is well above a human but well below Data.

Which is to say, I'm only offering to have her switch jobs from an OOC perspective, to better support the story. Other than some basic engineering skills she 'remembers' from three other versions of herself working as enlisted corpmen in Starfleet Engineering, I'd rather she largely stuck to what she was good at. Partly because I don't want the game to be all about her solving stuff, partly because it's friendlier to let others play to their strengths, and partly because I enjoy having my characters encounter situations they don't know how to solve. :)

Original Series had a lot of interesting concepts that make you wonder "Hey, whatever happened with that in the 24th century?"

I'll admit, I enjoy that thought experiment more with the Mudd androids. The sharing of information between units is an element I've only ever seen done by the Geth of Mass Effect or the Cylons in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. Which makes character development from that premise very fun for me. :)

That makes sense, in all ways. We'll see how it goes. Good to know that she won't freeze up because of a paradox :)
