Star Fox Alpha is set in the Lylat System where nearly all species in the galaxy are Humanoid Animals, for over 100 years, since the Lylat System's formation of planets, the entire universe has been at peace with only little to no disputes whatsoever, resulting in what became known, as the "Century of Peace", however, all that changed when the Lylat Wars began 17 years ago when the banished mad scientist by the name of Andross had declared war against the Royal Cornerian Federation Forces, intending to seize absolute power for himself by taking over the entire galaxy, starting with its capital of peace, the planet Corneria.
In order to stop Andross' army full of cutthroats and other sorts, especially the both famed and feared star-pilot mercenary group known, as Star Wolf Omega that answer directly to Andross himself, the Cornerian Army now has to rely on the help of their own star-pilot mercenary group known, as Star Fox Alpha, that directly opposes Andross and his mad ambitions of universal conquest and slaughter.
The team is made up of four crew-members:
Fox James McCloud Junior, age 17, leader of the Star Fox team and who effective immediately took the reigns of the team upon reestablishing it after its previous disbanding around the time he was only just born, a young hot headed freedom fighter of justice, Fox leads the team into very many perilous dangers, being the first one to jump into danger immediately and taking charge, refusing to let anyone else die before him or die at all whatsoever, a trait that he shares with his deceased father James who he never knew, despite being leader of the team, he is very brash and tends to make decisions based on his emotions and gut feelings rather then following orders from higher ups, something he even did back when he studied at the Royal Cornerian Space Flight Academy and was kicked out of because of so, nevertheless, Fox stays true to himself and lives up to his father's motto: "Never Give Up, Trust Your Instincts", this is the creed that Fox has always followed ever since he was only just a boy, now a young man, Fox has a lot of responsibilities resting on his shoulders but intends to fulfill them no matter what, in order to both live up to his father's legacy and especially protect the Lylat System from the threat of Andross, the man responsible for Fox's father's death...
Falco Lombardi, age 18, ace pilot of the Star Fox team and who likes to consider himself its 2nd in command, if Fox is hot headed then Falco is hot tempered, always getting flared up when taking things the wrong way, like Fox, Falco was kicked out of the academy due to not listening to orders and now, having nowhere else to go, Fox had offered him a place on the new Star Fox team, having recognized his skills, Fox and Falco are rivals in every sense of the word, Falco even claims that if Fox is not careful, he will take the lead and will rename the team Star Falco instead, taking this, as a challenge to better one another's skills in star-piloting, Fox competes with Falco both on and off of missions, something that the team mentor Peppy reprimands the two young star-pilots for, Falco can be slightly narcissistic at times but when the going gets tough, he is always there to back others up, a soft side of him that he refuses to acknowledge no matter what, due to being so prideful...
Slippy Toad, age 16, ace mechanic of the Star Fox team and the first friend Fox ever made whilst studying at the academy, Slippy has always been called a klutz due to him repeatedly falling hologram space training, everyone told Slippy to simply just give up and accept his destined place in life, however, Slippy refuses to do so and fights against fate itself, he revealed to Fox personally having shared bunks with him at the academy that the reason he attended the academy in the first place was so that he could prove himself to others and that someone like himself, having come from a backwater planet, can make it big in life through hard work and sheer effort no matter what others say of and tell him, Slippy intends to prove himself no matter what and when he heard that Fox was going to restart the Star Fox team, out of himself, Fox and Falco, he is the only one to leave the academy voluntarily and wishes to help Fox save the galaxy, thus he joins the new Star Fox team and together alongside Fox, Falco and Peppy, they train together using the latest technology Slippy can get his hands on and build for the Star Fox team, being the one responsible for building the new Arwing Type As for the crew to pilot, although Slippy is a great mechanic and tinkerer, especially including wanting to prove himself, sometimes he feels out of place with the others, he feels, as though he doesn't belong on the team despite encouragement from Fox himself, always falling behind, trailing after the others and barely managing to stay alive on missions through pure luck, as Slippy puts it, wondering if joining the crew was a bad idea...
Peppy Hare, age 37, mentor of the Star Fox team, as well, as the team's oldest member, he served on both teams of Star Fox led by the McCloud family, previously James McCloud's team 16 years ago and now currently his son Fox's team during the Lylat Wars, Peppy felt tremendous guilt in what he felt was a part that he played that led to James' death at the hands of Andross almost a decade and a half ago...because of that, he temporarily went into retirement and had refused to teach Fox how to learn to become a star-pilot just like his father was, however, upon seeing Fox's determination and conviction, his will to never give up no matter what, even after he got kicked out of the academy, Peppy was inspired by Fox's selfless actions, seeing his father in him, he decided to come out of retirement and lead the new Star Fox team that Fox was putting together alongside both Slippy and Falco, Peppy teaches the three how the world of space mercenaries works and what opponents that are expected to be up against if they join in the Lylat Wars, he warns them of the threat of Andross and of how extremely dangerous he is, nevertheless, he sees the youngsters preparing to risk their lives willingly if it means they can put an end to the Lylat Wars, wanting to see Fox carry on his father's legacy of the Star Fox team, it is Peppy who encourages Fox to rename the team Team Star Fox Alpha, as Alpha meant "New Beginnings", this was to be the new beginning of the new Star Fox team, taking a liking to the name, Fox re-dubs Star Fox, as Star Fox Alpha and altogether, the four of them now march head onward into the jaws of death, never looking back and never stopping, as they intend to stop the evil of Andross once and for all...
These are the four heroes that will forever change the outcome of the Lylat Wars, for better...or, for worse...
Besides Team Star Fox Alpha, there are others who are also very skilled in the ways of star-crafts, one group of people being for such examples their rivals, Team Star Wolf Omega.
Just like Star Fox, they too are made up of a four person cell:
Wolf O'Donnell, age 39, leader of Team Star Wolf Omega and the former once rival of Fox's father James McCloud, during James' time, as the leader of Star Fox, Wolf was already a renowned criminal throughout the galaxy, leading space pirates and amassing a bounty of over 500,000,000 Cornerian credits, Wolf and James once had a dogfight in space that had resulted in the former's defeat, however, James refused to take him in for his bounty nor kill him, as he believed in two things, one, that Wolf would make a great rival for James and especially two, that just like James himself, Wolf was a free spirit, wanting to be free of both rules and regulations...it was from this point that Wolf had looked on at the leader of Star Fox with a begrudging respect but had sworn to himself that one day he would take his head once Wolf was on a level that had matched James', however, Wolf would never get the chance for a rematch...as it was then around that time that Andross had made his move against the Lylat System and had seemingly killed James McCloud...for whatever reason, afterwards, Wolf had joined Andross' army and had worked his way up to becoming his 2nd in command of his entire army, joining Wolf would be the rest of his team that would also serve, as commanders in Andross' army and deciding to take a page out of Star Fox, Wolf had christened his team by the name of Team Star Wolf Omega with the Omega in the name meant to bring fear and tyranny to all, as it had meant "Final Endings" for all that dared opposed Star Wolf, however, what is Wolf TRULY up to? by joining the ranks of Andross...
Leon Powalski, age 37, 2nd in command of Star Wolf and a cold blooded assassin, he seeks pleasure in both war and death and had joined Star Wolf for the sole reason of killing others just so that he can keep himself amused...however, he was inducted into the team by Wolf after seeing his skills in action, Leon at the time tried to kill Wolf but Wolf showed superior skill against Leon, forcing the latter to make a deal with him, if Leon lost then he would serve, as a member of Star Wolf onward, until the day that Wolf either dies or Leon kills him...seeing this to be fun, Leon had graciously accepted Wolf's terms and had joined him on Star Wolf, as part of Andross' army to invade the Lylat System, all the while searching for a chance to back-stab Wolf and become the new leader of Star Wolf, wanting to rename it, as Star Leon...
Pigma Dengar, age 36, a former member of Star Fox and the one who led Fox's father James to his demise at the hands of Andross 17 years prior...besides Andross, Fox also wishes to take down Pigma for the part that he played in his father's death, for if not for Pigma's betrayal, everything that is happening now wouldn't be otherwise...Pigma is believed by many to be the instigator of the Lylat Wars, helping Andross begin his plan of universal domination in return wanting riches beyond riches that anyone could hardly begin to imagine...Pigma is a selfish swine and a greedy hog to say the least, everything that's happened is because of him but he does not care, only caring about stuffing his face full of money and food, believing that money and power are the only "true" things that can make any single person happy, whether people agree with him or not, he does not care, as long, as he gets what he himself wants...
Andrew Oikonny, age 18, the youngest of Star Wolf and is the only one who is truly loyal to his uncle, Andross' cause...Andrew wishes to be just like his uncle in every sense, not caring about his evil traits, being misguided for what he believes is Andross' rule offering the entire Lylat System a chance at "true peace" should they simply give in and surrender to his rule, Andross is the only family that Andrew has ever known, his family having died due to unknown reasons that Andross says is the fault of the Cornerian Army, the ones responsible for Andrew's parents' deaths...Andrew had vowed to his uncle personally that he would bring him General Pepper's head on a silver platter and will stop at nothing until he has achieved this single minded objective in order to please Andross, Andrew seeing his uncle, as his personal savior, due to Andrew's "undying loyalty", Andross has placed him among the ranks of Star Wolf, wanting him to serve, as Andross' eyes and ears on the other members, not trusting them, as each and every single one of them has their own agenda and it is possible that they will back-stab Andross if they feel like it, Andrew humbly accepts this task with the highest honors, all the while remaining ignorantly unaware of his uncle's real persona...
These are the sworn rivals of Team Star Fox Alpha, Team Star Wolf Omega...
Besides the enemies of Star Fox, there are also their allies:
Bill Grey, age 17, a young commanding officer in the Cornerian military and Fox's best friend from his academy days, unlike Fox and Slippy, who Bill knew closely during those said academy days, he didn't agree with the idea of becoming a mercenary and so decided to stay on in the military after Fox, Slippy and also Falco had left the academy, Bill quickly rose up through the ranks until eventually he became the commander of both the Husky and Bulldog units within the army, although Bill disagrees with the ideas of mercenary related things and especially mercenaries themselves, despite being a young pup that wishes to stay true to the law and uphold the rules, he still treasures Fox and the others, as his dear good friends and before Fox had left the academy, he and Bill promised each other that whenever and wherever one another was in trouble, they would always be there for the other respectively, always willing to help them out in a pinch with no return favor in exchange whatsoever, showing the strength of their true bond of friendship and the level of trust they place into each other again respectively, Bill is the youngest Cornerian officer in history to be given a commanding post, something that some older officers and some of the higher ups tend to look down upon him, as being "cocky", nevertheless, Bill aims to prove himself, as he is given the position of the "watchdog" over the Cornerian base on the planet of Katina, where here, Bill and his troops fight off the armies of Andross from Venom currently invading the planet, it is also rumored that he is in somewhat of a relationship with a certain feline...
Katt Monroe, age 19, a freelance mercenary who works on her own, Katt is a former flame of Falco's past both before and during their academy days, they are childhood friends that grew up together with one another and upon sometime during her years within the academy, she was kicked out before Falco due to disobedience when in actuality, she ignored the rules in order to save a fellow cadet's life, however, some of the higher ups failing to realize this and realizing herself that the Cornerian army was not, as "perfect", as it may have seemed on the outside, Katt left the academy and broke off her relationship with Falco, not wanting him to follow after her and wanting him to live his own life, resulting in some of Falco's personality traits that he has today, during her jobs alone working for Corneria, as a highly paid mercenary, Katt was soon reunited with the cadet whose life she saved, Bill Grey and somehow, someway, one way or another...the two ended up in a sort of relationship that although they try to manage they are finding difficult due to Bill's dislike of mercenaries and due to Katt's playful nature of playfully flirting with others, something that Bill, being a strict and honest person wanting to follow the rules has trouble trying to accept and adjust to, nevertheless, the two find themselves caring for one another and although they are stuck within the positions that they hold, the two promise each other that they will find some way to be together, this has led to Falco forming a jealous rivalry with Bill over his past feelings for Katt...
Generalissimo Pepper, age 40, commander in chief over all of Corneria, Pepper is a hound-dog that serves, as the symbol of peace for the entire Lylat System, he is the guiding light that helps serves keep both peace and stability among all of the peoples living within the entire universe due to his honorable character and sense of both right and wrong, he once took James McCloud under his wing to serve, as his protege, however, James preferred a life of freedom rather then regulations and thus, he had turned down the General's wishful proposal of James taking over for him with James going on to form the Star Fox mercenary squad, of which Pepper would eventually fund after seeing that there was a good use for them, Pepper ever since he was a child was best friends with the former leading scientist of Corneria's science, research and development division Andross who over time became mad with power and had starting craving for more, eventually, his dangerous experimentation had led to destruction upon Corneria, forcing Pepper with heartbreak to demote Andross of his rank and ultimately banish him to the planet Venom, where it was believed he would not survive its toxic air fumes...however, after Star Fox was reduced to only Peppy, James having sacrificed himself to save the former after Pigma had betray the team and Andross had carried out James and Peppy's death sentences with the latter barely making it alive to Corneria, Pepper has now begun to fear greatly what Andross has become and what he might be able to be capable of doing within the future...
Finally, the primary enemy of Team Star Fox Alpha:
Andross, age 41, the evil emperor of the invading forces of Venom and the man who plunged the entire Lylat System into the Lylat Wars...the man responsible for the supposed death of James McCloud, Andross was once the genius scientist of Corneria, serving, as the both founder and leader of its science, research and development department, trying to create machines among other things to better further the state of not just Corneria but the whole universe...he was once childhood friends with Pepper, Generalissimo of Corneria and the two had promised one another that they would help in their own ways better further the advancement of all the species living in the Lylat System, that was their childhood dream...however...with the passing of time, Andross' vision and version of both his and Pepper's childhood dream became distorted, until eventually, Andross' mind was corrupted by insanity, he started making weapons of war without anyone realizing, testing them on Corneria and all of its planet's cities, needing "test subjects", upon discovery of Andross and his dark desires and schemes, Pepper was forced with no choice whatsoever but to banish Andross, to ensure that he would never again hurt and kill others...he was banished to the barren toxic planet of Venom, where here for the following years, Andross began plotting, scheming his revenge, in order to finally begin his bid of both complete and utter universal conquest over the entire Lylat System...he has gathered many followers and now has started the Lylat Wars against the armies of Corneria, intending to strike down his old friend Pepper without mercy, not so much, as showing even a single bit of regret and remorse for his actions...Team Star Fox Alpha has now been sent in to deal with this very man, this very huge threat to the entire universe, as now the battle for all of Lylat itself...was about to begin!
