"Oh, no, you didn't do anything wrong, I just-" Elam started, but was interrupted by the bell. "...Don't worry about it," he finished quietly after the bell stopped, deciding to save his previous sentence for later.

As Elam got his test back, he could only stare at it with confused disbelief, glancing briefly at Aio as she whispered to him. I had to have guessed my way through half that test, the chances of me passing had to be slim at best. How'd...eh, it probably doesn't matter that much. Maybe I just guessed right enough times.

"For those of you who've passed, your next test awaits. You will be assigned a special mission that will test your strength, endurance, and more importantly, the bond you and your partner have with each other. Remember that only two teams are allowed on missions at a time. "Aiko, Elam, Dante, and Kurumi-- You are to report to Lord Death after class."

That was quick, Elam thought sullenly as Sakura asked the class for a definition on Soul Resonance and a student farther back began answering. Guess I'm getting the express lane because Aiko's technically already in E.A.T. Great. Well, hopefully Lord Death is as amicable as I've heard. From what I've seen of him in the media he certainly doesn't look like the literal living embodiment of death. Maybe he's got a more intimidating presence in person.

Elam settled farther into his seat, partially listening to Sakura's lesson and partially lost in thought as the class wore on.

Frey snickered. Cross, although had avoided her with clever movements as papers flew through the air, had turned away from her once she had covered her eyes. This would mean that the raven haired boy believed it would do some sort of damage to him. In a way, it would, if she were to shoot her soul wavelength at him, but that would be boring. Frey had not fought anyone for a long time, having beaten all her classmates to the ground at her old school. She still practiced daily, though.

Kaid had stood silent the whole time, even as Cross spoke to her using quite flowery language. The raven smiled, for Cross had no idea what he had just gotten into.

It was true the informant was quite observant, and could watch expressions and personalities, but Kaid was a loose screw.

Whenever Kiad was broken by something, she would fill the hole with another emotion. This was hard to pick up on for most people.

It was a fiasco many years ago that had brought the truth to light. Frey had just finished her social studies homework in a cold night in November. Her new friend, Kiad, went out to get the mail. Before Frey knew it, Kaid had slipped and broke her arm. She had immediately dashed outside, and after comforting her from her crying, Kaid went silent.

The brunette stood up and kicked the mailbox again and again repeatedly, all the while yelling profanities into the windy night.

Kaid was not short tempered, but when something really got to her, sadness turns into anger to protect her dear heart.

Frey, on the other hand, never really got angry. She did inside, perhaps, but never showed anything physically. She saw things such as that a sign of weakness. Drowning herself in self satisfaction.

"It's not very nice to gossip about someone who is in the room." Frey said teasingly, buying time.

Kaid looked up, all traces of tears gone. Instead, the same demonic eyes Frey had. Kaid screamed out in anger repeatedly slamming her fists against the desk.

"YOU CAN'T TREAT ME LIKE A LITTLE KID!" She yelled, her voice not wavering in the slightest. "YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO OR CAN'T DO."

By this point, bystanders watched in fear at Kaid's yells.

"Mr. Cross, sir." Frey began with an awfully sincere and kind face. Her eyes were closed as she smiled amiably towards to other. It was if the two had completely swapped personas. "I know a way we can settle this without a fight."

Before he could reply, Frey raised her hand in the air as the aggressive Kaid flew into her hand, now fully transformed into a sleek black sword lined with a deep red.

And then she vanished.

He felt someone whisper into his ear from behind him.

"Checkmate."

"This is checkmate, huh." he whispered into the air, eyes closed and a smile on his face, "I tried to play nice, but now you're just being annoying." he placed his fingers together in front of himself, tips pressed together lightly.

Leaning back suddenly, he attempted to meet face to invisible face with his phantom aggressor, his smile slightly crooked and entirely wrong. Even if it weren't upside down, it had the sort of quality that comes from a madness buried deep within one's soul. Still, it was a pain... that the bell had rang before he could make his next move. Not only that, but she had gotten out of his line of sight, making her a harder target to hit if he did need to continue into actual combat. Not that he expected that to occur just yet, but so far every normal reaction was exactly the opposite of what this pair had in store for him. It was as if she were reading his reading of her, and acting in accordance to his expectations.

The infinite possibilities began to sift through his mind. First the impossible faded from thought, leaving a clear selection of patterns. 'She's claimed checkmate. She's acting exactly how I don't expect her to act. I think she won't attack me in class, but she's gone invisible. This means that if she did attack me, only I would know, and that's because I'd be bleeding out. Of course, the teacher can probably see right through her illusion, if it is one. Death scythes were on another power level, and this is the NOT class. Still, that doesn't mean that, like most teachers, this one wasn't crazy in the head. So I should expect to get attacked, but she's been reading my every action and reaction so far. She knows that's what I'm expecting, so she's expecting my counter-attack. With her invisible, she could be at any point around me, with only that last whisper as a point of reference.'

A sudden explosion of actions and reactions filled Cross' every thought, his face becoming one of insane glee, and in a sudden motion he held out his hand, "It's not official until we shake on it, is it? A handshake to signify defeat... is rather fitting for someone as relaxed as I am." he knew, for an absolute fact in his mind, that she wouldn't take such obvious bait.

Isaac paid full attention to what's being said and glanced at the notes,'it's more complicated that i thought but then again i haven't been in school for about two years so it's to be expected even though i'm smart time and effort play a huge roll in a place like this'. Issac noticed her smile and next to silently said"You're a odd one but not in a bad way, you remind me of a girl from my past, even though i don't remember her face i do remember she has the exact same personally as you". Isaac went silent when he realized he was disturbing the teacher class even if just a little, for some odd reason he wants to keep holding bases hand even if's just for a little longer not normally like him having some of his memory's come back made him a little emotional but couldn't exactly say that to bas.

Frey reappeared, only to vanish again. She circled her prey like a hawk, stepping lightly around the table.

Regardless to how Kaid had over reacted earlier, the raven was interested in Cross. If she killed him now she wouldn't have the opportunity to mess around with him. Cross had similar interests, which was a shame that the two could not get a long. Pure spite echoed in his presence. Although Frey wanted to fight, she would best not get involved until they were outside. Inexplicably, Cross was eyeing around the room for his next move.

"Do you want to hear the truth?" Frey asked, not bothering to wait for an answer. "You interest me." She whispered from beside him. Frey knew he wasn't going to play her game, and frowned at that. "Although this whole scene looks like I'm trying to avenge Kaid, I'm really not."

Frey tapped her foot on the desk as she re appeared. "You probably just reminded her of some kid from her past." The raven spoke, not bothering to utter and reassurances to her friend. "You find me annoying, correct? We really aren't that different, Kid." She said ominously, regardless of Cross's age. When she noticed Cross was not making a move she spoke back. "You think this little game I'm playing is stupid, so you refuse to play it." She huffed sarcastically.

"Stop talking crap, Frey, and beat him to the ground!" Kaid yelled, whilst said raven merely rolled her eyes. "You know what? Never mind. You aren't going to do jack shi**."

"You and me are alike. I am more narcissistic and annoying, but we share similar interests. You are intriguingly eloquent in your speech and movements, as am I. Although I have the upper hand in this game, I will give you a chance to redeem yourself." She said thoughtfully, "I would only kill you if I wanted to. I do things for myself you see. I have a system."

What went unnoticed was the multiple 'I's' in that single sentence. Kaid on the other hand was growing extremely restless, but didn't feel like fighting at this point. The brunette liked Cross, and was not going to fight him over something as trivial as this. She turned back into her human form, eyes still glowing black. "I like you too, you are pretty interesting, while you are a bit unpredictable." Her eyes turned back to their regular brown. "But if you look at everything that has happened in the last few minutes you might understand why I would be angry."

"I would ask Frey to apologize, but she won't." Kaid sighed, holding her hand out. "Can we just call truce for now?"

By this point Frey had left the room completely, or vanished. Either way, she was gone.

"Frey has a lot of problems." Kaid began. "I'm not going to go into some huge sob story, because you probably have a backstory just as bad, but she is mean to people on purpose to get them to get away from her. She has a huge barrier around her. Depending on if she vanished just now or not, metaphorically and physically. She wants to have an image of power. Once you get past the taunts and smirks you are met with the real person underneath. Someone who does bad things is not necessarily bad. I just want her to have some friends, which might pull her out of all of this. Just because she is manipulative and narcissistic, doesn't mean she isn't lonely. Everyone deserves friends. So do you think you could just try?"

THE TWINS & SILVER (Angel too)

(Since her player is busy. I'll just bring her into class)

Late.... We're late.... I-I got careless.... Connor mentally chided himself as he shakily reached for the door knob. Chloe and the other two, on the other hand, seemed perfectly fine. Chloe was smiling even. Oh goodie~ We're late! I get to rub this into his face when his mood improves. Chloe thought to herself with devilish delight as Connor turned the knob and opened the door.

Late... Tardy... This is not good.... "G-good morning P-P-Professor... P-p-pardon our... lateness." Connor apologized with a short bow before walking to his desk. The others went to their own seats and started taking down notes. Connor's was neat and meticulous with small mini-notes based on additional knowledge and appliance. Chloe's notes, on the other end of the spectrum, was bare-bones and abridged to the point of bulletpoints and small doodles that seem random but are analogies of the topic.

To say the two were like butter and margerine would be an understatement.

CROSS

Thrown for another loop. He was getting exactly what he expected to get, but from the completely wrong person. Worse than that, she was apologizing for the whole situation. Even if the whole handshake tactic was meant to be a ploy to attack the girls, this was too much to take advantage of, even for him as he was right now.

"So. You weren't looking for friends for yourself... you were looking for a friend for her. Or, both of you together, rather. I see." he took the hand, but didn't follow through. No puppet strings were attached at the contact. No gripping paralysis or feelings of dread overcame the girl. Just... a normal handshake. It had been a long time since he'd had human contact that wasn't part of some greater plan. His hand, Kaid might notice, felt cold even though it was warm to the touch, like the air around it was chilled unnaturally. "Fine. We'll call this a truce. Maybe even a friendship. I need to study anyways, I hear we're learning about Soul Resonance today." the subject was something he felt he needed a lot more information on, given his previous successful failures in the art. Successful resonance with terrible results... it was driving him to madness that he couldn't be a better Meister.

Turning his chair again, Cross brought himself to sit facing the proper direction, pulling his hand gently away from Kaid first, and then resumed his half-relaxed sitting position with his chair leaned back and his arms on his chest. But now he was smiling, slightly. It wasn't even the twisted smile from a moment ago.

The bell rang. The teacher began to speak. It seemed nobody took any real notice of the two who had been mid-combat. Maybe to them it hadn't looked like fighting, because they didn't see the clash of steel or shower of blood, but it had been a tough fight nonetheless. Cross, thinking that it might be over now, focused a bit of his attention toward the front of the room, though he kept his attention split between that, Kaid, and the possible locations of Frey.

Kaid returned to her desk, which was the row diagonally behind Cross's. She felt embarrassed that she had even got angry at the male, and was now fuming in her seat. She had a reason to be angry, but it was poorly executed. For the first time in forever, she was horrified at the shameful act she was a part of moments before. She doubted Frey would kill him. If she did, she would be on the bad side...Or was she not already?

Frey did bad things. She cheated, she lied, she stole. She hurt people, she destroyed places, she killed things. But she had never killed a human being before. Kaid believed she had the power to be able to do so, but still had enough humanity left to support her real will. Frey, although above the rest of the students when it came to academics, thought herself to be above humanity. A villain straight out of a book; She wanted to represent pure death. If someone were to meet her, they would have quite possibly thought it as a childish dream, merely a phase. Kaid, who had a unique bond with her meister, believed differently.

Many years ago, when Kaid first had met Frey, they were incompatible. Frey believed differently back then. She was much kinder, even though she was in an even rougher patch than she was now. The personality she had now was not fake, rather, another part of it. It wasn't just for show, either. Although she wanted an air of supremacy, she wanted to get her hands into whatever illegal acts she could be involved in. What could be seen as simply a rebellious teenager phase, was in reality a deal with the devil. Kaid had obviously disproved of it, and so did her father. One day, she just...Stopped.

Kaid was overjoyed that Frey had stopped at the tipping point. If she were to go any farther, she could really hurt someone, or herself. Being boring is better than being a killer. The raven, although had an aura of evil, was quite nice when you got to know her. She never openly cared about anyone but Kaid, to which her reasoning would be that she enjoys herself when Kaid is happy, therefore does such things for herself. Kaid never understood why she acted like she wanted to be alone.

Frey was not stupid, she was far from it. Even in social matters, before the huge personality disorder, she was very respectable and always had knowledge others didn't. She could have had that life, but she chose to be different. Kaid was a wolf dressed in sheep skin, and Frey was a sheep dressed in wolf skin. Frey, who is still very menacing, and powerful, had a heart of gold deep down. Kaid...She was always happy, and amiable to those around her, but deep down, she was horrible. She was not as selfish and Frey, or narcissistic. But she was prone to over reacting and breaking other people to shreds without realizing. At least Frey tried to avoid most people.

Kaid, unfortunately, seemed to be occupied by her thoughts this period.

Sakura smiled approvingly at Dante's response, and nodded to confirm he was correct. Though considering Dante's wavelength and abilities, the professor wasn't surprised he answered first.

"Very good, Dante. Soul Resonance allows-"

The sound of the door opening caused Sakura to stop mid-sentence. The four late students: Chloe, Connor, Angel, and Silver had finally arrived. Connor apologized quickly, stuttering as he made his way towards his seat with the others trailing close behind. Sakura arched an eyebrow, a deathly serious expression on her face.

"Don't be tardy again." Sakura told them sternly. She made it seem like it was a life-or-death situation, and many students felt a wave of fear wash over them. The room was quiet. Too quiet. As soon as she turned her back to the class, some students let out a sigh of relief, like a heavy burden had been lifted form their shoulders. Sakura began pacing slowly.

"Soul Resonance is a special technique used by Meisters and Weapons, in which they synchronize their souls' wavelength with one another. By doing so, they can release highly powerful techniques." She paused for a moment to let students take notes, before beginning again.

"Now, most of you have not achieved Soul Resonance yet, and that's perfectly okay. Soul Resonance is hard to achieve, and requires practice. In order to achieve Soul Resonance, both meister and weapon must be calm and of one mind. Should one of the souls not be in sync, techniques can not be performed. If a technique is being used and one soul loses focus, the technique will lose power or direction. Common reasons for souls not to sync are fear, arguing, stress, and other factors." Sakura told the class, facing them once more and looking around the room.

Upon hearing this, Aiko became lost in her thoughts, wondering if Elam would be ready to achieve Soul Resonance. She was pulled back out when her mother began speaking again.

"Does anyone have any questions?" The professor asked, glancing around the room. She noticed one of the student's pets, a Jackal, came up to her and dropped a package at her feet. Without making it too much of a distraction, Sakura quickly scooped it up and set it down onto her desk, continuing to glance around the room.

Chloe was in the midst of doodling a small sketch of her using a megaphone with the megaphone labled as Silver when an interesting thought crossed her mind. Huh.... I always wondered how I could do it while my Brother can't. Maybe I can get some answers now!

"Uh, Professor? I have a question." She said raising her hand. "How does Soul Menace work? I mean it feels like taking your own Soul, pushing it around for a bit and then it goes.... uh.... 'Ka-blooie!' out of your hand. Just wondering the more technical way of how it works I guess." She finished off her question with a small nervous laugh before waiting for an answer.

@The Velveteen Rabbit

Kaid's thoughts were interrupted by Frey, who slammed the door open, causing the room to go silent. Although late, Frey had a bored facial expression echoing that of disinterest. Even the students who came through the door and were ridiculed by Sakura were there earlier than the raven haired girl.

"Before you ask any questions, no I am not late. Two, I simply left to blow off steam, and three, I had absolutely nothing to do with the drinking fountain that is on the floor in the hallway." Frey stated, as if she was reading off a manual.

@Pinkalyn @The Velveteen Rabbit

On the opposite side of the classroom was Chloe and her partner, and as soon as Aiko recognized her voice, the white-haired meister glanced over to the girl. She asked Sakura about Soul Menace, and how it worked exactly. A wave of guilt hit Aiko immediately, causing her to look away for a moment. Even though she had attempted an apology the day before, Chloe was not awake to hear it, making her words meaningless. Aiko originally planned on apologizing sometime after class, but it seemed that was unlikely now.

Besides, she didn't want to keep Lord Death waiting.

"Soul Menace is a technique that allows someone to strike their opponent by channeling their own Soul Wavelength without the usage of a weapon. This results in an electrical-like attack with a powerful conclusive force capable of even damaging a weapon in their weapon form. It's a particularly dangerous technique, and can be extremely deadly if someone cannot control it very well." Sakura explained to Chloe, smiling slightly after the explanation. Before she had time to ask if anyone else had any more questions, one of the newer students Sakura did not know very well slammed the door open, a bored expression on her face. Silence filled the room.

"Before you ask any questions, no I am not late. Two, I simply left to blow off steam, and three, I had absolutely nothing to do with the drinking fountain that is on the floor in the hallway."

As she always did when she was irritated, Sakura arched an eyebrow questioningly, seriousness invading her expression. One disruption was enough... but two in the same day? That was crossing the line.

"First off, if you are going to leave, tell me beforehand. Two, do not kick the door open, and three, if you ever disrupt my class again, I will be sending both you AND your partner to remedial lessons. Now, please have a seat." Sakura's voice became increasingly more and more angry, causing students in the room to sink low behind their desks, as if to protect themselves from a nuclear explosion. The professor tore her crimson gaze away from Frey, and turned back towards the class, letting out a deep sigh.

"Does anyone else have any more ques-"

Sakura was once again interrupted, this time by the deafening screech of old wheels rolling down the hallway. The door was kicked open, revealing Riku sitting happily on his office chair, a grin on his face. Before he could even open his mouth, a clipboard was flung at him, somehow managing to chop him perfectly on the head and causing him to fall over, office chair and all tumbling down with him. He twitched on the floor, blood streaming down his head where the clipboard had struck. A single wheel on his fallen chair spun furiously, creating a symphony of squeaking that filled the classroom and the hallway. The whole class burst into laughter, and even Aiko couldn't help but giggle quietly.

"This had better be good, Riku." Sakura snarled as he began to sit up, shaking the dizziness from his vision. He laughed sheepishly, somehow already sitting on his office chair and adjusting his glasses.

"Aiko and Chloe need to report to the infirmary for a quick check-up." He explained, grinning as usual. Aiko looked up at the sound of her name, exchanging glances with Elam, and then Chloe. Sakura cleared her throat loudly, managing to push away the anger she felt for the time being.

"Very well. Aiko, Chloe, please follow professor Riku to the infirmary."

Aiko nodded, and stood up from her chair slowly, beginning to approach her father who's head was still bleeding profusely. Sakura was still fuming slightly, but trying her best to hold it down as Riku flashed her one of his trademark smiles.

Frey sighed. "If you insist." She said, flashing her pitch black pupils at the teacher. And with narrowed eyes and a ferocious grin, she made her way back to where Kaid was seated. She didn't bother to spare a glance at Cross when walking by, and thumped down onto the chair.

"When will you learn..." Kaid began, resting her hands on the table. "When will you learn that your actions have consequences?"

Frey shrugged, as she took out her notebook. Although she had quite the reputation, after being called out by multiple teachers on behalf of students believing her to be a witch, she was a good student. Above everyone else. That was why she thought herself to be so great.

Greatness, in Frey's eyes, comes with consequences. She was a thinker; One who questions things. She was interested mostly in human law, and soul wavelengths. The only reason she wasn't kicked out by this point was her over the top honor grades when it came to academics, and her extensive knowledge on soul wavelengths.

So what if she had to do something as stupid as
pay for the damage inflicted on the drinking fountain. She could simply ring up one if the many people in which are in her debt. She had a systen, and she was sticking to it.

"You alright?" Frey muttered quietly, as if she was discussing something as vile as murder plans. She wasn't one to express how concerned she felt about other people on the outside, and ended up hiding it most of the time.

Kaid just smiled.

"Yeah."

"Hm...." Chloe hummed as she listened to the explanation and was doodling a picture of a cactus-Connor poking a stickfigure when another person entered the room.

Oho~ She's got spunk! I think I like her. Chloe thought as the girl went to her seat after being chewed out by Professor Sakura. But then.... BOOM! The door opened a third time as Professor Riku, who she vaguely remembered from the infirmary and from yesterday's fight burst into the room. Only to be KOed by a clipboard.

"That's probably gonna leave a mark," Connor muttered from his seat while Chloe giggled. That happy feeling soon stopped when Chloe heard the phrase, "infirmary for a quick check-up".

"E-eh....?" Chloe was stunned. She didn't mind doctors. They're usually nice, friendly and would give her a lolipop once its all done but.... Dr Stein is not in that list. "C-Check up...?" She squeaked and gulped before slowly standing up. Connor shot her a look of encouragement as Chloe slowly approached Professor Riku.

Please let me come back with all my organs and limbs....

CROSS

Cross couldn't help chuckling quietly as his pencil returned to its diligent task of writing down everything going on in the classroom, rather methodically. Without the enhanced dexterity afforded by his strings, rather than the direct use of his hand, he was writing much faster than would normally be possible for him, as he attempted to take in every detail without fail. Of course, some things escaped his notice, primarily those things he thought would be of no consequence if not written, but he made every effort not to let even that happen.

This class. It was like watching structured chaos. A huge group of disorganized children all looking for something. Power, friends, enemies. Each one had lives, goals, futures. Well, most had futures, presumably. He couldn't really guarantee that for anyone. Still, out of all these prospective future heroes, he hadn't seen what he was looking for. Someone who was, beyond reasonable doubt, compatible with him. He was a meister with no weapon, and that meant he was at a huge disadvantage. The children around him, they all seemed to be pairing up quite naturally, and quickly. All while Cross sat there looking like a lazy bum because he knew... deep down he was very well aware of what he did to weapons he wielded.

-memory flashback- "Don't ever touch me again, you freak!" the girl yelled at cross as she threw her bag at him in a desperate attempt to keep some distance between them. He hadn't done anything more than hold her for a moment, but for this weak girl that was more than she could handle. Just the touch of his unnatural soul... it felt like it was attempting to consume her, and she was having no part of it. She was the first of several attempts to find a partner, and all of them ended in similar fashion. It didn't matter who it was. Men, women, swords scythes and all manner of unconventional weapon... none of them could stand to be in contact with him for very long. At first he thought it was their fault for being flimsy and unworthy, but as time passed he came to understand that his own inner-workings were the cause of his bane. Something inside of him didn't quite... /work/. -end flashback-

Snapped from his reverie by the sound of a loud thunk, Cross looked up at the room, realizing several important changes including but not limited to Frey's return. Some students had been assigned tasks already, and others were snickering at what appeared to be a teacher struck down by a clipboard. He began updating his notes where he left off, the gaps in information left apparent with a reminder to himself to pay more attention. He'd be going over the notes several times that night, and with a task as great as his, there was no room for error.

The teacher spoke of Soul Resonance, and Soul Menace, two important subjects to Cross. The first, for obvious reasons, and the second... because he'd realized his own form of offensive wavelength. This could be his chance to get more information on how it all worked, so he raised his hand and began to speak out loud before the teacher could call on him, but only when she seemed to not be talking, "So, ma'am, what if...." he began his statement, almost slipping tactically in front of the whole class by revealing his detriment, "Rather, how do you find a compatible weapon? What if someone, say a slacker like me, can't find a weapon that works with his soul wavelength? Is there a way to measure or compare wavelengths? Or do I just have to keep picking up every weapon that comes my way until one fits?"

@The Velveteen Rabbit @kitshi

KAITORE

Kai sat idly at her desk, eyes wide as she did her best to absorb everything that was happening around her, but not really absorbing any information beyond that given by the teacher. The main lesson today seemed to be not to interrupt her when she was talking, given the amount of force she threw that piece of wood with, and the angry glares late students were receiving. It all made her very glad to have been on time.

Still, even with her attention up front, her eyes kept wandering over to Dustin. She wasn't taking notes. She didn't really learn from study like this, even though a knowledge of the fundamentals was good for her to know. Mainly, she learned from action, and so everything she was being told in class right now she had planned to incorporate into training later that day. That's why she couldn't help watching Dustin's face as the teacher spoke of resonance. Would Dustin be able to wield her? To truly use her to her full potential in combat, and cause them both to grow?

She closed her eyes, focusing on that image. Of Dustin being able to draw her blade, and strike down their foes. To control her with precision and grace, a firm hand on her hilt while one by one the monsters of the world dropped around them...

Nearby, Dustin and the teacher might hear the thunk of Kai's head hitting the desk as her daydreaming sends her to sleep. She wouldn't have admitted it, but the trip to the school had been a very long, multiple day process and she'd lost enough sleep just to get there on time. Now she was getting in her lost rest right there, at the front of the class.

@The Velveteen Rabbit @PlaguedWithInsanity

"You give up." Frey snickered, just loud enough for Cross to hear. Kaid frowned to herself at this.

Although she felt bad for thinking this, she truly believed Frey would never have a weapon that could stay faithful to her. Kaid was the only option Frey ever had, rather, the only chance she had at becoming a meister. There was no way anyone would have stuck with her, as she was narcissistic, manipulative, and overall didn't seem to care about anyone or anything. The brunette girl also had vices, for she was blunt, cocky at times and had a tendency to hurt from little things. Kaid noticed in this moment that she always looked at the good, but never the bad. She saw Frey as an aberrance, someone who deviated from the normal lifestyle. The raven questioned if acts were morally good or bad, and what made them bad in the first place. Although the girl had many issues, Kaid couldn't help but see the good in her.

Deep down, Frey cared about the people close by. She moved out of her brother's apartment years ago so he wouldn't get involved with her, knowing that he could become a weakness to her and get hurt. Frey wanted the upper hand in everything. She was an amazingly skilled fighter, better than most. But in a class such as this, filled with heroines who are just as good or even better, to put in perspective; she was born into the villain. Frey was amazing at what she did, she was determined, hardworking, and very clever. She, herself, could probably never jump from sky scraper to sky scraper without having to catch her breath, or hide everything she feels.

People who had met Frey and Kaid back in middle school would call them the 'Ambiguously Gay Duo." Neither of us were bothered by it, (mostly because there really wasn't anything offensive in the title) and had wondered if it was a reference. Still, at first glance, Kaid looked like Frey's lackey. Frey, even back then had confidence, she was a charming, villainous self-riser. Many people hated her, but they couldn't help but respect the girl, for she was always searching for knowledge. If Kaid didn't have such an enormous fan club, surely Frey would have had fans flocking to her daily. But maybe that was for the best.

Kaid, although she had a fanclub after meeting Frey, (which seemed to be the beginning of a much better life) she was still lonely. Boys ogled her for her cute, petite body, and could care less about her personality or what her hobbies included. So she paid no mind to them.

Rolling her pen off the table with a sigh, she began to brainstorm ideas for questions to ask their teacher. She wanted to at least look like she was paying attention. Her awareness turned to Frey, who was furiously scribbling down notes at lightning speed as if she was in a contest. Kaid looked down at Cross, who was writing just as fast. The brunette swore she could see flames covering the two's pens and pencils. She felt a bead of sweat roll down the side of her head as she giggled mostly to herself. Frey at this point wanted to beat Cross at pretty much anything, which she guessed must have included the rate in which one was to write notes. Cross didn't seem to notice. She wondered how long this 'rivalry' (if that was what one would call it) would last.

When the two girls approached Riku, he grinned widely, scooting his office chair back a bit to give them some room to exit.

"Alright, kiddies, to the infirmary!" He proclaimed boisterously, suddenly launching his chair down the hallway at a preposterous speed with a push of his foot, just barely missing a group of students who had to dive out of his way to prevent from getting run over by the maniac on an office chair. Aiko watched her father until he disappeared around the corner, vanishing from view. She could still hear his laugh bouncing off of the hallway walls, despite how far away he was from her and Chloe. She let out a soft sigh, chuckling softly soon after.

"I apologize in advanced if my father ever runs you over. That chair of his is notorious for injuring students." She murmured to Chloe as they began walking towards the infirmary, smiling warmly towards her. A hint of shame tainted her heart, and for a brief moment, a flashback from their duel popped into her mind. She managed to push the memory away, but the shame remained.

"Chloe," Aiko began quietly, stopping in her place and facing the brown-haired meister. Her gaze became sympathetic, and her face was soft with emotion.

"I wanted to say that I'm sorry for everything that happened yesterday. Things got out of control, and I ended up hurting you because of it." She bowed deeply in front of her for a moment, before returning to a normal stance, smiling brightly as she always did. Her hands suddenly reached out, gently grabbing both of hers in a gentle squeeze.

"I'd really like us to be friends, despite what happened yesterday. I hope none of this ruined the beginning of our friendship with one another." Aiko tilted her head slightly, never losing her smile. She could only hope Chloe would forgive her, maybe not now, but in the future.

As soon as her husband was out of sight, and the door closed once again, Sakura sighed deeply before turning to Cross and beginning to answer his question about partnership.

"Finding a partner will be particularly difficult, especially for someone with your type of unique wavelength. In all honesty though, there is no direct way to find a partner. It takes time. But when you've found your partner, you'll know it. It's an indescribable feeling. However, it is said that opposites are more compatible with one another." Sakura explained thoroughly, hoping she'd answered him well enough. If not, she awaited a follow-up question from him.

CROSS

Cross didn't look thoroughly satisfied with that answer, but at the very least it was something. The way she called him out on his wavelength being unique, though. He wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. He knew that the school had run some tests, but he had never been certain just how much they knew about him. If, perhaps, Death knew something about him that he himself did not. If he were completely honest, he didn't understand his wavelength.

He didn't feel like pressing the matter further, though. So he let the teachers simple answer pass for now. He could always follow up later, or see if he could uncover the results of his tests soon. With a half-smile he waved it off, nodding to the teacher and letting her continue her lecture.

"Ehehe! Oh its alright. I kinda like your dad's antics. Reminds me of my Aunt," Chloe replied with a chuckle and a bright grin. She then hummed a small tune to calm herself down. I'm sure its nothing to worry about Chloe... Just a small check up... You can ask about the muscle ache! O-or the difficulty getting sleep due to said ache! ..... Idon'twannaseethatMadDoctoragain... Also.... Aiko's with me.... Yeah.... Aiko... She shook that thought from her head and was in the process of thinking happy thoughts when she heard Aiko call out her name and stopping.

"A-Aiko? What's-" she asked before Aiko poured out her apology with a bow, effectively catching her waaaaaay off-guard.
Oooookaaaaay? She's apologizing, check. And now.... Chloe's cheeks reddened slightly when Aiko suddenly grabbed both her hands and gave them a gentle squeeze. She was shocked but her face simply showed that emotionless mask her Brother is known for having when he's thinking. She stared at Aiko's hands then at her earnest smile for a moment.

"Why are you apologizing....?" Chloe asked quietly, her brown eyes staring into Aiko's. A small smile creeped up on her features before she burst out laughing and practically glomped Aiko in the hallway.

"I should be the one apologizing, you Dunce! I wanted to use that technique first! I wanted to win no matter what I had to do! This was Karma! My Karma!" Chloe cried out before wincing, her hug tightening slightly. "Ow.... So yeah... I'll be your friend... and... I'm sorry... for being brash...." She apologized quietly, some tears leaking from her eyes due to the combination of emotional release and pain.

Kin looked over to his new neighbor and gave her a smile before realizing how pretty the girl was. She resembled the African princesses he would see in his mother's expedition photos. "Uh... uh, hi. Uhm, I don't think you've missed much. Mostly introductions." Kin continued to smile at the caramel coated girl. "Here's my notes so far, hope you can read it. And no need to buy me lunch, though I wouldn't mind having some with you."

@Kintaro Fujimori[/URL]
"The name's Kin, Kin Anubi. Wow, your parents sound pretty cool. My mom was an explorer of sorts too. Actually Dr. Allrasid sounds kinda familiar..." Kin noticed the doglike animal, no... wait, jackal. "She's really cool, wait did you say guard?" Kin then listened to her question about having a partner and only staying at her parents' mansion. This girl is pretty awesome, to say the least.

"Why are you apologizing...?"

Aiko heard the brown-haired meister ask in a quiet whisper, throwing her off guard slightly. Her warm expression turned into a dumbfounded one as Chloe burst out laughing, launching herself towards Aiko and embracing her tightly. She stumbled back a few steps, but managed to stand her ground after regaining herself.

For several moments, Aiko was speechless, only standing there silently without saying a word. Although she had a feeling that Chloe would forgive her in the end, she never would have imagined it like this. Aiko felt an overwhelming sense of relief, and her body naturally lost its tenseness. Listening carefully to Chloe's next words, she too began laughing, although not as abruptly or as loudly. They were soft, joyful little laughs; like the calm rejoice of a chiming, golden bell. With a breathtakingly warm smile, Aiko gently wrapped her arms around the meister, only lightly, so she did not hurt her further.

"It's okay. And thank you, Chloe... It really means a lot to me." Aiko murmured to her quietly, pulling away and staring at her with a bright smile on her face. The status of Chloe's health worried her, especially after their embrace and how she was in pain because of it. With a slight pivot of her foot, Aiko turned so the side of her body was facing Chloe, but she never turned her head, or broke eye contact. Her hand grasped Chloe's gently, tugging ever so slightly.

"Come on... Let's catch up to my father at the infirmary, he's probably waiting for us." She flashed her a small smile once more before turning completely and beginning to walk down the hallway, following after her father's trail.

@Wandering Hollow

"It is a formality at the DWMA for meisters and weapons to live together, for it strengthens the bond between them. I strongly suggest you speak with your father, and move in to your own apartment in Death City. It will take longer for you and your partner to bond if someone is constantly interfering with your interactions." The professor told Kabehchet, smiling only slightly. It seemed the students wanted to learn more and more, and Sakura was happy to provide information for them. However, things were getting a bit off task.

With a sudden clap of her hands, Sakura placed them on her hips, looking a bit excited.

"Now, let's get back to the lesson. If anyone has any more questions they'd like to ask, please see me after class and speak with me then." She informed her students, before beginning to move on. Sakura took a few steps towards her desk, leaning against the sturdy edge and crossing her legs in an upright, yet relaxed position.

"As many of you know, we have quite a few E.A.T students here today, and I'd like to take advantage of that a little bit." She then smiled slightly, looking in Dante's general direction with a mischievous gleam in her crimson eyes.

"Dante, would you please give the class a demonstration of Soul Resonance? Without your partner, if you will."

"Yeah.... Let's go, Ai. Can I call you Ai?" Chloe said with a small giggle, letting herself be pulled along by Aiko's grip. Ah... That went well. Hm. I don't feel scared anymore... Chloe happily thought to herself. A small happy feeling welled up in her chest as she felt a small bond develop.

"So uh.... Ai? Can I ask you something?" Chloe started. She always wondered about this for quite a while when she first heard about it.

"You seem like the popular and nice type so.... Why didn't you get a Partner when you first joined the EAT class?" She asked, hoping not to be too blunt about it.

Connor Branwen

Connor was feeling... stressed. Not about the class or the topic but more towards his sister, Chloe. Another check-up? What's wrong? Is she alright? But she should be fine with Dr Stien right? He started thinking in panic. His hand shook, making his neat notes look more lopsided and his face was pale. A cold sweat trickled down his forehead as he listened to the lesson, his eyes glancing at the clock.

"She'll be fine.... She'll be fine.... Silver's here so she's not gonna fight.... She's fine, Connor.... Get a grip on yourself...." he muttered under his breath to try and calm himself down. Although he looks more like a nervous wreck then anything.

Dante took a deep breath.. Teaching Kurumi was one thing, helping to teach a whole class was another deal entirely... He adjusted the headphones on his neck as he stood. "Yes ma'am.." he answered respectfully as he made his way down to the front of the class.. He kept his back to the class as he slipped his headphones up over his ears, pushing a button so the music played. He turned to face the rest of the class, his head bobbing a little to the music.

"Soul resonace usually involves a Meister and a weapon, and it is generally a fairly difficult technique... I'm a rare exception to that rule... my soul is, you could say, in constant resonance... when a meister wears me, I instantly resonate with them, so they can use much greater techniques."

He closed his eyes, his head still bobbing to the music as his body manifested itself as armor. In the center of his chest a soul dial appeared, currently pointing to the number 1.

"Usually, I'm only at a 1 on my personal resonance scale. My speed and strength both increase at higher numbers, but it's a touch tiring.. I'm afraid I cant show off any techniques like Witch Hunter though. I'd have to turn the dial up past 5, and a single person cant handle more power than that. It tears apart the body from the inside out" Dante explained, turning the dial slowly up to five. After he turned it above 2, music seemed to come from his body, perfectly in time to the bobbing of his head.

To anyone able to see souls, his soul expanded a little with each turn, growing larger and more powerful with each turn of the dial. His soul even had headphones on the side of it.

"This is my fifth level resonance. If I go any higher, my body will actually start to break apart trying to hold in the power. With a meister though, I can push the dial to ten, as the power is cycled between Meister and weapon. If I choose to amplify the abilities of another weapon and meister, the level is dependant on how well they resonate without me. I won't bore you with the specifics of that now though." He shook his head.

"Now, enough explaining, sonce I was asked to do a demonstration.." he chuckled softly. "You guys should cover your ears" he waited a few seconds before he suddenly lunged forward, a sonic boom errupting from where he started, sending a small shockwave that may just knock over people in the first two rows as he suddenly moved blindinly fast around the room, a gust of wind following him before he came to stop back at the front of the class. He shook out his hair as he watched the class recover from that 'demonstration', laughing softly.

"So.. any questions on soul resonance so far? Ask me anything on the subject, it's kind of my whole deal..." he turned the dial down to one, the music that filled the room dying off as he let his body return to its normal, non weaponized form. He crossed his arms over his chest as his eyes scanned the room for questions, wondering just how the class would respond.

Kin was a little shocked that the girl wanted to be partners so quick. Not that he didn't want to be partners, of course. "Well I think coffee would be a good start, especially since you think I'm adorable and whatnot." Kin smiled at Kabehchet but then noticed a student coming to the front of the class. Suddenly he was zooming around the classroom at break neck speeds. It was an interesting sight to see self soul resonance and the music wasn't so bad either.
