Slippery Scales of Decipet

BeyondOblivion

Two Thousand Club
"I can do this. I can." Aaron Garronson groaned as another plant crawled at his leg. He'd made his way about a mile into the forest, yet he had seen no beast nor even bird around. It was a bit infuriating, especialy because he needed to get to them.

"Agh!" He tripped over a root and sighed. He wasn't very brave, as one could see. He was slightly tall but skinny, with blue eyes and a slim body. He had no freckles, but a tint darker skin than most. His hair was combed back, yet was now full of dirt and leaves from his expedenture. He wasn't very strong, as evidenced by his small arms.

"Come on... I just... just need to find a creature, kill it..." He gulped hard, shivering and looking down.

Emma slept, her tail coiled up beneath her, in the cave she called home. She never really got many visitors (Except her Arachne friend, who she kept telling to stop leaving her webs all over the place), so she wasn't really concerned about decoration. It was just a simple, one-room cave with enough space to comfortably fit a party of about 15-20 people. Yawning as she woke from her slumber, she stretched and uncoiled her tail. What should she do today, she thought to herself? She'd eaten the day before, so she wasn't hungry at all. Perhaps she'd see how Arna was doing.

"Come on, come on! Why aren't they any damn animals when I need them!" He sighed and came up to yet another patch of seemingly endless trees. The sun was beginning to dim, yet he had to find a beast. If he didn't kill one... he didn't want to think of what his father, the lord of the Garron Estate, would do to him. He sighed and continued on, crunching loudly through the undergrowth.

Emma slithered on out of her cave, looking at the sky as she did. Woah, was it that late already? Maybe the nap she took wasn't such a great idea, seeing how long it lasted. Shrugging her shoulders, she continued on to the Spider Queen's nest, about a five minute walk from her cave. Well, five minutes to a Lamia, anyway. The time it took to cover the distance was different depending on what you were, really. Arna could easily cover this much ground in three, maybe even two minutes if she hurried.

As he began to near the edge of his limit, he was about to give up when he heard the slithering. He froze and whispered, "A giant snake... I'll lie and say it was a serpent beast or something..." He nervously bega nto follow her uknowningly, gulping the further he realized they were getting. Soon he was running to keep up with her.

Now Aaron was cute, as most women would say. As such, he hated to get dirty. He'd rather do bookwork out of the few tomes they owned rather than this. Yet he had to. Soon he realized he'd gotten just ahead of her, and climbed a tree. As it came near, the branch snapped, not dropping him but alerting her.

As Emma slithered along, she heard a branch snap, and stopped. Looking up at where the sound came from, she at first assumed it was a Slime or something trying to ambush her. She was surprised when she saw a Human man in the tree. She quickly checked to see if he was armed and, seeing his weapon (I don't know if it's a sword or what, but I assume he has a weapon), hissed at him angrily. If this guy thought he was going to kill her, he was wrong.

Drawing his knife, Aaron looked down at the creature and he gasped. The shock of both having the branch snap and seeing the anthropomorphic life form sent him out of the tree and onto the ground. He dropped his knife and he scrambled up to his feet, yet the knife was close to her, so there was no hope in getting it. He reached for his bow, only to feel he'd forgotten it. He gulped, realizing he was unarmed. He back towards a nearby tree, shaking in fear.

Emma picked up the knife that had fallen next to her and laughed at the Human's clumsiness "Is that all? How funny!" She said, as she held the dagger in a reverse grip "Come on, you don't have anything else? You can't have expected to kill a Lamia with only a dagger, could you? I know you're hiding something else in those clothes of yours..."

He looked around and gulped. Why had he not taken the sword?! He knew it was clumsy, but that was his best weapon! He looked around and snapped off a tree branch, taking a shaking fighting stance, "I-I'll... I'll fight you yet!" He awaited, eyes filled with fear. He thought this was just a normal snake!

"Hmph." Emma replied, flipping the dagger into a forward grip. This guy may be clumsy, but he's stubborn. Two qualities that, Emma admitted, were probably the worst attributes you could couple with each other in a person "If you wish to fight me, come, then. I'll give you the first move."

He gulped nervously before he charged, holding the stick in an attack position. Yet a swift trip from a root and then her own tail sent him on the ground. He groaned and coughed, getting up and backing away. He shivered in fear.

Emma laughed at this display and, before he could back away from her, her tail wrapped around his ankle and up his leg, pulling him towards her "Where do you think you're going?" She asked him, as she grabbed the stick in his hand and put the knife to his heart "...If I was fighting you seriously, you'd be dead right now."

He gasped hard and his eyes went wide, shivering and realizing his position. He looked into her dead orbs and shivered, "please... please don't kill me! I-I'll never come back honest!" He squirmed a bit, whimpering.

"But how could I let you back into the forest alone, after that display? If you encountered a Slime, you'd be mauled instantly. Come, I'll take you to my home. Perhaps we can at least make you worth something before I eat you." Emma replied, ripping the stick from the man's hands and withdrawing the dagger, using her free hand to pull him up and lead him back towards her cave, keeping a firm grip on his arm.

"W-what is a slime?!" Hd gasped, attempting to resist but ultimately failing. He was dragged helplessly away by the Lamia, unable to escape her clutch. After a long walk, he saw a cave and panicked again, "I-I swear, never never I'll never be of anything threat, I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" He squirmed, all in futility.

"Then shut up and stop struggling, and maybe I'll think about it." Emma hissed back at him as they entered the cave "But your struggling and yelling at me isn't helping your case. Do. You. Understand?" This guy was irritating her, but she figured this was a normal reaction to the situation. She had to shut him up somehow, though, before he attracted attention to them.

((I have to say, I Like her character))

Aaron nodded and fell to the ground on the cave, the aching in his legs overcoming him. Seeing the inside, he blinked and cocked his head slightly, "this... actually isn't what I was expecting. This looks like a room in the castle!"

(Thanks ( :) ) I like playing her)

Emma raised an eyebrow, wondering what kind of castle it was to have a room like this "What were you expecting?" She asked, out of curiosity, a bit annoyed at his falling to the ground. She said nothing of it, though, and waited for his answer.

"I-I... Well... I was expecting it to be much less... clean and... organized." He gulped nervously and slowly got his feet, "I mean... I-I thought you'd have chains, a mat and... nothing else." He looked around, taking it in.

"Chains and a mat..." Emma repeated, looking thoughtful "Now there's an idea. It'd be better than the nothing I have right now, anyway." She said, grinning. She'd have to look into that, in case she found someone else. She couldn't count how many times she'd had to let a meal run away because she was holding another one at the time.

He nervously began to crawl to the other end of the cave, shivering in fear still. He knew to keep silent, lest he desired his head to be freed from his shoulders. He slowly looked into her eyes, "I-I'm... Aaron..."

Emma's tail unwrapped from the man's leg as he did so, figuring that she was between him and the exit, he couldn't leave even if he had the guts to try while she was here. She blinked as he introduced himself to her. Did he really just...? Nobody had done that before, her meals preferring to stay anonymous from her "...Emma. Nice to meet you."

He nodded to her, gently pushing her slithering appendage away from him. He nervously pulled his collar, looking down at the ground. He figured that, as long as he stayed quiet and complied, he'd live.

"So..." Emma started, coiling her tail up beneath her "What's a Human like you doing in this forest, hunting a Lamia, of all things? Especially with your level of skill, and only a knife for a weapon." She asked, genuinely curious. She hadn't seen reckless bravery like this since her Arachne friend first took control of her nest.

He looked down and awkwardly scuffed his feet, "My father is the lord of the estate about five miles north of here. He said that either I have ot kill a beast and bring back proof or else I don't come back at all. He said that I'm not... well that I'm a very manly person."
