Dear SHIPS,
I am a huge fan of your blog and always enjoy reading about the cases that you guys have solved. However, I have found myself being rather nervous to contact you guys because I'm unsure of whether or not you would believe me. But I could really use your help right now. I am an avid hiker and camper. My backyard is connected to the woods which has a little walking path. But lately I find myself hesitant to enter those woods to do my daily walking or to even have a little camp out. I think there's something hanging around in those woods, but I don't know what. I can hear sticks and rocks being banged against the trees, there's this foul odor of like... sulfur and rotten meat that is so bad I have to dash back inside. My dogs are getting pretty stirred up too and something is putting them on edge. At night, I'm afraid to go onto my back porch for a smoke because I swear to you that I can hear growling and rustling bushes coming from the woods. Something is in there and I have been thinking about moving to get away from it. Please, I would appreciate it if you could come check things out.

What you just read is one of the many emails that the Sleepy Hollow Investigation of Paranormal Society (SHIPS) gets on a frequent basis from people in need of their help. A group dedicated to helping those plagued with paranormal activity or being tormented by cryptids. Whatever stands in their way, they will get to the bottom of it. Goatman? No problem! Bigfoot? No problem! Headless Horseman? Already on the case! Sometimes they solve cases where it turns out to be a person in a mask and costume but that's alright! Haunted Ship? No biggie for them!

the founder is the person who started this whole thing. they respond to all blog posts of those that requesting the society's help and they will accept or decline requests. being an avid believer in the paranormal, they're hesitant about declining requests no matter how outlandish it seems. even if the mystery turns out to be a hoax and it was somebody in a mask and costume, they still had fun investigating.
cameraperson

this person is the one who films everything to get the footage up on the society's blog as well as social media platforms. this is to help people believe in the paranormal and provide proof that the paranormal is the real thing. they start rolling when they're given the signal and will film for any signs of the paranormal. not only that but they'll take pictures too as a means of capturing the paranormal on camera in a photo.

this person is very sensitive to the paranormal. they can either see spirits, hear spirits, feel spirits, have visions, etc. you can pick which ability they have with this. but they will know when there are spirits lingering around a place.
the helper

the founder cannot be leading things all on their own! they need some help here! well, that is where the helper comes into play! the helper is there to help the founder out with everything. equipment, playing back recordings, everything. if the founder is unsure of something, they will go to the helper! if the helper is unsure about something, they can go to the founder!

basically the book nerds / bookworms of the whole group. they'll enjoy reading books about urban legends and cryptids. they'll be spending their time at the library to look through old books, newspapers, property history and records, just everything you can think of.

these two are very tech savvy. they handle getting the group's blog up, editing the blog, everything. if a case requires anything technology to be used like getting into computers or even security cameras, these two are the ones you go to. they will handle the society's online newspaper website as well!
unbeliever

the unbeliever is someone who thinks logically and rationally. everything paranormal related must have some sort of real, rational explanation. they'll think it is a hoax or a prank and will refuse to believe it. if it turns out to be a person in a mask, they'll laugh in the faces of the other group members. they just cannot bring themselves to believe in the paranormal and in cryptids.
artist

the artist is someone who will sit down with clients and will draw out what the clients describe seeing, if anything. even if it's just a silhouette or a shadow. but the artist can provide insight as to what the group may be up against. can they see spirits too? that is up to the person applying for this role.

Realistic faceclaims only! What I mean by this is real people. Actors, Models, Musicians, etc. AI art, drawings, Picrew, or anime faceclaims will not be allowed in this roleplay.

This roleplay is not first come first serve. It is application based so if you see someone applying for a role that you want to apply for then go for it! I will be choosing who I think will fit best into the roleplay.

Discord is required for OOC. Roleplay and Applications will take place onsite here on RPN. However, while we are getting applications up... there will be a temporary onsite OOC for us to chat!

Please give others enough to work with! One liner responses will not be accepted here nor will one paragraph responses. Please try to go for at least 3 or more paragraphs per response.
