Fantasy Slayers: Modern Maniacs

Terra entered the cafeteria and spotted Jane looking around for a seat. She walked up to her, her lunchbag hanging from her wrist. If I'm going to have to work with the other Slayers, I should get to know them better, she reasoned with herself. Working up enough courage, she asked Jane if she wanted to sit with her.

Luke was already at a table, one to himself at that, for he wasn't feeling himself. He allowed his eyes to drift over his notebook, re-reading his entry from the night before. He was only joined by his sports drinks on the table, not food was there, as part of his diet.

Takao walks out to his car and gets in heading over to the local McDonalds and buying 6 Milkshakes. I'm such a kind friend he thought to himself. Upon arriving to school he carries the two drink carriers filled with milkshakes and walked over to the two girls. "I got milkshakes!"

(well would you rather us all really sit through class like we're actually in school? lol)


Jane shot a small smile at Terra as she walked up to her. Then she looked at Takao. "Wow, we slay a few trolls and suddenly we're all best friends?" She asked, chuckling slightly.

"Come on even if I didn't like you guys we would have to get along anyway, were probably going to be working with each other for a long long time." Takao notices Luke by himself. "Lets go sit by your lover Jane." Takao laughs

Terra frowned slightly. "Well, no, but I just thought...nevermind me."

In a friendly gesture he pushes Terra along with them. "Come on you, you're coming to sit with us too." He smiles brightly

"Not my lover!" She said. "But Takao, Terra...nothing against you guys, you're both really sweet....but I kinda wanna be alone right now....sorry." She said, still upset and thinking about what she told him and Luke earlier. Why can't I stop thinking about it? She thought to herself. "I'll pay you back for the shake later," she said, smiling at him softly and giving him and Terra both friendly hugs and taking one shake, chocolate, her favorite. She then trailed off to a table close to where Luke was sitting, the table she chose was empty.

"Oh..alrighty then. We'll catch up with you later then!" He turns toward Terra and smiles as the blush wipes across his face. "So umm Terra do you wanna sit together?" He was a bit hesitant to ask because he was so nervous she would not like him

Jane starts to slowly eat her food and pops in one of her her earbuds as she sits alone at the table. She shoots a couple of glances at Luke, wondering why his jock friends aren't sitting with him. Her glance then turns to Terra and Takao, grinning at them.

Luke wasn't alone long, his jocks came, slightly late from getting food out of campus. They all sat down, taking their usual seats, leaving Luke beside to of his usual admirers. He doesn't falter, only gives a couple sarcastic remarks and continues to read his notebook. He hasn't noticed Jane yet, not even Takao or Terra, seemingly caught up in what he wrote.

Jane pulled out her drawing of her and the others as the Slayers. She revised it in her head as she ate her lunch. A couple of jocks sitting with Luke noticed her at the other table alone and shot goofy glances, nudging each other and whispering stupid things to each other about her. Jane was blasting Black Veil Brides in her earbud, letting the other earbud rest on her shoulder.

Luke noticed his friends and leaned over the table, slugging one in the shoulder before excusing himself. He said something inaudible to the group that left them a little speechless, but with that he walked over to Jane. He sat down, not waiting for an invitation, his face had imminent sympathy in it. "Hey, what's a pretty girl like you sitting alone for?" His voice said flirtatious, but his eyes said sincereness.

Her eyes left the Slayer drawing, she set it down. Her eyes then looked to Luke. "Well, I see we're not about privacy in this school. Just eating my lunch." She responded. 
Jane scooted the drawing away from her and Luke (@Huntrey ) as she ate, keeping her eyes glancing up at Luke from time to time. "Why aren't you eating?" She asked him, mouth semi-full of food.

Amelia looked around the cafeteria for a place to sit. She settled in at her usual table with some of her friends in band. She wanted to tell them everything, but that was a terrible idea. Realizing that she hadn't brought a lunch, Amelia excused herself and went to wait in the lunch line. She scanned the room for Connor (@Beowulf ) because she felt bad for ditching him in the hallway earlier. He seemed to be the only one interested in her feelings. It made sense in a way. They were both academics. How could be count on her to compete of her mind was elsewhere?

Jane finished the shake (@KroNicc115 ) had gotten her while she waited for Luke (@Huntrey ) to answer her question. She quickly glanced over to see Amelia standing in the lunch line. Happy to see she was alright, she gave Amelia a small wave.

Takao was sitting down with Terra (@CloudKitteh at this point and he started to get hungry. At this point he didn't really care what he ate. Walking to the lunch line he sees Amelia. He walks up to her and stands by her in line. "Hey Amelia!" He smiled and looked at the mediocre food that was being served.

"Well, my protein shakes have all the necessary nutrients, so eating isn't worth it." Luke replied, "Can I ask you what this is?". He reached his hand over her to begin to scoot the drawing towards him. He needed to talk to her about the outburst in Mr. Grey's, but an ice breaker would probably help this go smoother.

Jane nodded, "But don't you....I don't know...miss food?" She asked and watched as he scooted the drawing to him. "It's nothing, just a random sketch I did in 2nd period." She said, thinking of it as just her way of visualizing the Slayers.

"I still eat smart one." He rolled his eyes, and looked at the drawing, "Oh wow, seems like you paired the group up. Terra and Takao on this side, Amelia and Conner over here, and you and I in the middle." He gave her a smug look, "That's interesting, you want to tell me what you mean by it?".

"Simple. The brains are there, the shy but awesome ones are here, and the two main fighters are here." She said, giving a smug look back.

 

[Hibiscus]

"Oh yea, exactly what I was thinking." He laughed, but cleared his throat, allowing a more stern look to cross his face. "Look I-I know what you said in there wasn't easy to say, but I'm glad you trust me enough to tell me. I'm really sorry that something like that happened.". He looked away, the scolding, the anger, and rejection was likely to come.

"What are you ta--...oh...yeah, that." Jane sighed. "It's not something I usually talk about. Besides, all we have to talk about being Slayers..." She said, feeling like she'd rather only talk to him when they were fighting monsters together. Not that she didn't appreciate him, she did. Jane just...hated this subject.

"Well I was hoping we could talk about more then just about being slayers." She really was unaware that he wanted to be good friends, not just a jock and tomboy on opposite ends of the world.

"Being a Slayer's all we could ever talk about. We' not exactly into the same things." She commented. "But...thanks for checking in on me. Appreciate it."
