Slam Dunk

Nyssa couldn't help but laugh at his definition. "You're funny. But the thing is, I had the exact same feeling about pe. But just few minutes back you taught me how to make it simple" she says with a smile "in the same way, English can be made really simple. You just need someone who can teach you."

Kyle scoffed. "Well if there is someone out there, please due help me." She said, looking at her. "All of my friends have meager passing grades, not sure I will ever find someone."

She looked at him with sympathy. "I can help you" she said with enthusiasm. Then hoping that she didn't sound too eager she added as quickly as possible "if you want me to. I mean, I'm pretty good at it. If you really need any help, I will be willing to help you out" she nodded.

Kyle flashed one of his charming smiles at her. "Alright then. Please explain Ms. English Major." He asked, sliding his paper towards her desk and his book as well as he waited for her to explain.

Nyssa's heart skipped a beat at his smile. 'My goodness! How can one be so good looking and have such a nice smile' she wondered as she took his paper and book. She smiles as she saw that it was one of Shakespearean sonnets. "Well! The first thing you need to know about Shakespeare is that he always rights about love. Always! He believed that it was the only thing worth writing about and also the only thing which was very difficult to be expressed in words."

"This sonnet compares modern love to the love which existed before. He says that in previous times love used to be worshipped. That it never faded with time. That people loved another, for all that they were inside and not just for their looks. He believed that love was a connection between two souls. He then states how people have ruined that word in the recent times. Love is used very easily and mostly to deceit. He also states that true love rarely exists in this modern world because people are too busy running behind other worldly pleasures that they've failed to see the most beautiful thing that ever existed right within them."

Saying thus, she passes his book back with a smile. Her cheeks felt warm, due to a faint blush. She was so existed to explain that she had just rambled on for 5 complete minutes without giving a break. She takes a deep breathe and then looks back up to him.

Kyle smiled, looking at her. "Wow. How did you get that from something that makes less sense than the Chinese menu in the cafeteria." He joked, looking at her.

Nyssa laughed. "Well it's pretty simple you see" she says intimating him for when he taught her at the gym "you just place your hand like this over the page and go line by line, writing down whatever you understand from it. Even if it's just a word. Then by the end you'll have a huge set of sentences or words. Just form them all into proper meaningful sentences as if you're writing a story and voila" she smiled.

Kyle laughed at her way of teaching, feeling her gentle hand over his calloused one. He smiled at her. "You know, you have the brains of a genius." He said, smiling at her. For some reason, he really wanted to forget about his girlfriend right now and be with her, even though she hadn't even given her name to him yet.

Nyssa blushed at his words. His smile made her want to just sit there and keep on teaching him but that mental picture came to sudden halt as she remembered that he had a girlfriend. At once she becomes aware that her hand is still on him and takes it back, going pink in the face. "Well thank you. You're a genius in the gym" she replied

Kyle smiled, looking at her. "Well, yeah. I have been doing sports forever. The only problem is that my parents want me to be a doctor. Only problem, not smart enough." He said.

Nyssa sighs "Parents! Well I'm pretty sure you're smart. You just don't want to be. Because if you're smart, girls won't swarm after you, would they?" She almost bit her tongue. Damn! What had she just said. That was rude she told herself. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it in a bad away. "

Kyle looked at her, a bit insulted. "It's fine." He said, sitting up strait and leaning back in his chair. He hand never heard that before, since all the girls that he had been with had been the ones to follow him.

She hit her head with her hand. She leaned over "Hey I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. I just wanted to say that you're better than you think you are. It just came out wrong. I'm really sorry"

Kyle nodded, looking at her. He gave her another smile, leaning back. "Well, ok then." He said in a soft smooth tone. He continued along with the lesson.

Nyssa nodded back at him. She felt as if someone had just gutted her insides. For the first time someone was talking to her with interest, and things were going so smooth and she ruined it. She didn't know what came over her all of a sudden. This boy had made her feel she could say anything and she had, without realizing that they didn't even know each other before today.

Kyle did most of his work, finding that they had no homework left. But all to soon, the bell rang. It was 7th period after all, and he had to catch a bus. Smiling at her, he said "See ya around Mystery girl.", walking off towards his locker. He pulled out his I pod, looking at the inside of his locker, seeing a picture of him and Vivian in the corner. He took it out and looked at it, and crumpled it up, tossing it in the recycle can. He quickly took out his phone and plugged in his earphones, his mind resting on the girl in his English class.

Nyssa couldn't concentrate on the class any more so she just played with her pen till the bell rang, and for the first time, she felt that the class was too long. As soon as the class got over she turned to apologize again but he was already up, and saying bye he left. She sighed. Slowly she put her things in the bag and walked out the class. She stayed near the school, so as she walked back home, her thoughts were clouded with the blue eyed guy and his sweet smile.

[Da Next Day]

Kyle woke up the next morning, groaning. He had fallen asleep drawing, inexplicably, the picture of the Mystery Girl in his PE class. He flushed quickly, taking the sketch pad and hiding it back under his pillow. He smiled as he went to go take a shower, making himself smell like fresh rain and apples. He smiled, brushing his teeth and making sure every hair was in place, and grabbing a quick bite to eat before dashing out the door to catch the bus.

For the first time Nyssa cared about how she looked, as she stood in front of the mirror that day. She didn't understand why, but she had picked her favorite jeans to go with a deep blue shirt which was the same color as Kyle's eyes. Kyle! She sighed. Just the thought of this name had sent a warm surge through her body. She shrugged it out thinking she was being stupid as she picked up her bag and walked to the school. She was always early, but today she left even earlier than normal hoping to catch the blue eyed guy before the first hour

Kyle was not having a great morning. He ended up being quite late, and went racing though the door. "Incoming!" He yelled, his mouth full of toast as he was running. He turned a sharp corner, running into someone, sending her to the floor. "Ahh, so sorry.... Mystery girl?" He asked, looking at her with surprise.

Nyssa was tired of waiting. The bell had already rung but he wasn't there yet. A bit disappointed, she picks her bag and starts walking down the corridor when someone runs into her. She catches herself from falling and looks up to see that it was none other than the one she had been waiting for. Her face lit up with a smile "Nyssa." She said.

Kyle felt his smile reach past his eyes. "Cool name." He said. He was about to say something else when the bell rang. "Shit." He mumbled, waving at her. "Bye!" He said, looking back at her and dashing towards his Chemistry class.

Nyssa couldn't take her eyes off him when he flashed his beautiful smile. It took her a second to realize that he had already dashed into a class. She chuckles at her own self as she runs to her math class.

Kyle passed the first to classes, math and science, thinking about Nyssa. Nyssa. Such a beautiful name. He write it in neat penmanship on the top of his paper, sketching a small picture of her in the margins of his notebook. Blushing as he soon realized with he was doing, he closed his book and packed up, the bell ringing soon after.

Nyssa sat in class, her mind far off, as far as the chemistry class. She couldn't stop thinking about him. His name, his eyes, his smile, the way he had held her hand yesterday during gym class. She couldn't get enough of it. It was as if someone had put a Kyle movie in her head on repeat. The moment the bell rang, she snatched her bag and ran out, and there he was, in the hallway, walking to his next class. She just stood and adored him for a second, before heading in his direction and pretending that she wasn't going there to meet him.
