All of a sudden the Stonewarg was pushed outside his vision, replaced by a familiar face. "Get on up. We were winning!" that person said, and Gerel could barely make out the hand through the shock. He grabbed at it, pulling himself up and nearly collapsing once again from the pain blossoming from the claw wounds with every movement. It wasn't the worst pain he experienced in his life, but it was up there; those claws dug deep. More than anything else, he was numb from the shock. He was losing blood at a concerning rate. There was a battle to be fought, and Gerel fought the battle to stay conscious. The whispers kept pointing locations of enemies to him, growing softer and softer as his companions made quick work of the Stonewarg packs. He found himself leaning heavily onto Aldaf for support, his breath coming in short pants, vision swimming, dipping into darkness. His eyes wandered every which way, looking for someone, wanting to see if she was doing alright.

"K-Kari... how is--" were the last words from Gerel's mouth before he slipped into nothingness.

Aldaf held Gerel's unconscious body. "FERRO! MAN DOWN!" He shouted before lifting the poor guy in his arms and running to cover. He laid Gerel out in the snow, pulling out some supplied from his pack. "Hey, stay with me, Hawk-eye! TALON!" Aldaf shouted at Gerel's bird. He managed to get Gerel's coat off of his body, pressing some spare bandages to his wounds. He used some rope to secure it in place. "Come on, come on... FERRO!" He screamed. He noticed Katja nearby. "Oi! Hoot-Hoot!" He moved quickly, fetching Katja from her spot. "Come on, the open's not a place to nap. Plus Gerel needs your help." He grabbed Katja's arm, lifting her up and carrying her over to Gerel. "I'll cover you, but you need to do something until Ferro gets here." He pulled out his daggers, looking for Zeke.

Serik regrouped with his band just to find Gerel leaning against Aldaf, all limping and bloody. "Gerel! Oh no, not him!" He cried.

Serik then spotted a cranny between the rock. It's large enough for several humans to take refuge but would heavily hinder the beasts to get to them. "There is a little cranny to hide over there! I will get Ferro!" He said to Aldaf and then ran off. A stonewarg ran after him but he juked it off as it tried to pounce, getting it to crash against a rock instead. Serik spotted Ferro not far away.

"Ferro!" He called as loud as he could. "Quick! We got a person down over here!" He shouted and then notice another stonewarg running at him. "I am tired of running away now, you unholy monster!" He screamed and jammed an arrow in the beast eye. The stonewarg reared up, howling in pain just to get another clear shot on its belly by Serik. The monster fell and died. Serik then headed to regroup with the band again.

Katja watched the chaos that happened around her, trying to keep light on her feet as she did, though, all her nerves were making her incredibly jumpy. She couldn’t help but to squeal whenever someone ran past her, or one of those horrific beasts snapped its massive toothy maw at her.

She was running out of darts, but the sound of something approaching caught her attention. She whirled around, prepares to shoot whatever it was with her last dart, only to find it was Aldaf, running up to her and bundling her off to a secluded-ish corner of the fight, where someone was laying on the ground bleeding-

“Oh my gods! Gerel!” She shrieked, falling to her knees and propping his upper body in her lap. “oh my gods, okay! No, this is fine I can deal with this-“ she leaned over and pressed an ear to his chest.
“He’s still alive, that’s good. Heartbeat is still strong, though there’s no telling how long that will last- no time, no time! Oh, gods, guide my hands, here we go! Keep those creepy things away from us!”

She slung the knapsack off her back and tossed it to the ground beside her, trying to dig through it with one hand while trying to keep pressure on the wound...s. Oh gods, there’s a lot to keep track of.

“I’M GOING TO NEED HELP OVER HERE!” She shouted into the air, finally pulling a large piece of folded up cloth out of her bag, which she immediately unfolded until it could cover all the claw marks and laid it across him. Then without even a moment she leaned quite heavily on the cloth with her forearms to try to keep an even pressure on it and stop the bleeding.

Kari

The chaos exploded, and Kari was acting without thinking. Arrows and darts flew all about her, and then the mist vanished. The stonewargs on the cliff started in fear, seeing well enough to realize their cover had been removed. They then began to descent down the cliffs all at once, joining the beasts already in the midst of the group.
She had a bola at the ready and when a beast came near she flung it, but not at its legs, at its neck. The twine wrapped itself around the creature's throat in a deadly embrace, the weight of the stones binding it tight. The creature threw itself aside violently and began thrashing about, clawing at its throat. It was no longer interested in her head.
"Kari!" Ferro's voice was not gentle. "Magic! Fire will scare them!"
"I don't use magic!" She shot back. She wouldn't, she didn't want anything the gods had to offer.
"Damn your pride girl! We need it!"
Kari looked about, they seemed to be doing more than fine. The moment's distraction however allowed a beast to close the distance to her. She turned just in time to see two arrows sprout from its body like deadly flowers, blossoming in eagle-feather petals.
She grinned at Gerel...and then time slowed. She saw the creature charging, her face fell, she was moving too. Claws flashed, red blood flew as the creature opened his chest.
"GEREL!!!" Kari screamed, and suddenly the battle was a distant thing. Kari's pulse roared in her ears.

Ferro was alerted to the shouting, and swore colourfully. He whistled once and ran to them. A great shadow descended through the cloud and Emerald was amongst the stonewargs, a hot plume of fire sent several sprawling in terror. She landed on one and tore its throat out with frightening swiftness.
Gerel lay there, bloody and faint, Kari looked at him, just as her brother had been...then, the rage came.

She stepped past Gerel, and the people gathered about him, to where many of the beasts had regrouped, they snarled at her, breath rising in clouds. Tears ran down her cheeks, and in response to their growling, she hit them with a wave of bright flame. It came fast, bright and hot as the sun. There were five beasts, and they all shrieked and jumped back, one unfortunate enough to have been closer than the others went tearing away shrieking as its coat blazed.
"No more." She whispered, and then she roared at them "I WILL NOT LOSE ANOTHER SOUL TO MONSTERS!!!"
The fire swirled up and around her, stretching out towards the beasts, who scattered just as they had from Emerald's flame.
There were several circling, looking for an opening, but between the dragon, the arrows, darts and now a fire mage, the others began to loose heart and fled.

Kari didn't have time to bother with those left. They could try and get to her, she didn't care, she only thought of Gerel, bleeding in the grass.
Ferro was there, and Katja and Serik too, the others were fighting still and they needed to be.
Emerald closed the distance and would work with the fighters to finish the job.
Kari all but collpased at Gerel's side. Her whole body was trembling. She drew in a sharp breath when she saw the amount of blood soaking through the cloth.
"Let me see the wound! Gods we need to stop the bleeding..Gerel! Can you hear what I'm saying? Hey!" She reached down and took his head in both hands. "You are going to be all right? Got it?"
With Kajta's okay she pulled back the cloth and bit her lip. The gashes were deep, but his ribs remained unbroken, there was no serious damage...just blood...too much blood.
She took a deep breath and looked at those gathered. "I'm going to cauterize the cuts."

As Zeke walked beside Ferro as the group walk through the plain, he observed the high stoned cliff on their sides, perfect for a surprise assault. When he noticed Ferro stopped, he only then caught the sight of the thick mist surrounding them. Zeke tensed a bit and then grabbed a hold of his signature weapon. He placed the chains around his forearm and tightly held the chain with his left arm, while his right carried his steel sickle. Somehow, Zeke felt his hand go numb along with his heart. His earlier conversation with Aldaf has truly made Zeke unfocused and unsettled.

Just breathe, Zeke. You've separated yourself from your family anyways. How hard could it be when it is just a mere stranger?

When a boulder was hurled towards them, he was unfortunate to have a late reaction due to his troubled mind and the boulder happened to hit his sickle right off of his right hand. Zeke dove for his sickle and when he had a better look at his pinky finger, he noticed that it was bent in an awful and awkward way. He felt a buzzing pain coming from his broken finger. Zeke held in a cry of pain as he ignored his pinky's deformity. Zeke grabbed his scythe, and once the fog was lifted, all hell broke loose as the group finally had an advantage. Before, arrows and darts were flying everywhere into the fog, Zeke even saw Gerel's masterful display of archery. And now, Zeke's drawing of the beasts was almost flattering compared to the creatures before him.

Zeke raised his arms up high and propelled his chains upwards, gathering momentum. Once he propelled it towards an incoming Stonewarg, it securely wrapped around its flat snout and Zeke held his ground as he gave his chains a slight tug towards him, bringing the creature closer. Zeke then skillfully wrapped the leftover chains around his elbows as the creature neared him, keeping the creature restrained until he can time it perfectly. Once the Stonewarg was close enough, Zeke carefully dodged its aggressive claws, as he delivered the final blow to its throat. Once he pierced the skin, Zeke aggressively sliced it open to free his sickle, letting the creature's blood drench Zeke's upper body.

However, Zeke was smart enough to know that Stonewargs hunt in groups, so he expected more to come. When Zeke turned around, he was greeted by a confused Stonewarg who was figuring out where Zeke must've gone, even though Zeke himself was only a few metres in front of the confused Stonewarg. Zeke intentionally drenched himself in the Stonewarg's blood as a decent strategy to lower their guard. Zeke took that time to propel his mini scythe over to the beast's neck, ending its life with pure precision.

When Zeke heard a few screams coming from his teammates, he wondered what was going on. That was until Zeke could see a wall of flame erupt in just a few distances away from Zeke. What the-- Kari? He questioned himself. Zeke looked to the ground and once again start an internal conflict he knows fully well that will not end well. While Zeke was distracted by his own thoughts, Zeke was once again attacked by another Stonewarg, and this time, Zeke was sure he was about to die. As the Stonewarg nearly embraced him with its sharp and lethal claws, he suddenly remembered Aldaf's embrace he received in the morning and how Zeke has treated him poorly for it.

So, this is what I get for caring, huh? Being vulnerable truly sucks.

Just then, before death could engulf Zeke in its soothing embrace, a flash of green zipped before his eyes and saw the green-scaled dragon, Emerald standing before him. Zeke breathed a sigh of relief as he felt his fists tightened, disregarding the fact that his pinky was completely broken. The word 'pathetic' echoed in his mind, as he felt his anger bubble up inside him. His pride has just been shot down and he didn't like that one bit. So, he used his blood-drenched scent and his light footsteps to his advantage as he swiftly slit the underbelly of a standing Stonewarg. He continued to do so as he let his anger and frustration out towards these beasts he considers ugly.

I AM NOT WEAK! He yelled at himself as he felt a slight static at his palm. He paid no attention to that, however. He was only focusing on letting his emotions out through... healthy ways necessary. In the meantime, Stitt was carefully analyzing her friend's expression as she sat idly on the crook of his neck, hidden from anything and anyone.

Aldaf saw Zeke go down, Emerald save him. He saw Zeke, standing alone. He rushed over, throwing himself at a Stonewarg coming up behind Zeke. The beast toppled to the ground as Aldaf stabbed it with his daggers. He began to rip apart the beast, its claws still twitching as it let out a vicious howl of pain.

"YOU! STAY! AWAY! FROM! HIM!" He scream-grunted, stabbing any part of the Stonewarg his daggers could pierce. His daggers were covered in blood, the underbelly of the beast bleeding from dozens of stabs and cuts. His eyes were filled with a vengeful bloodlust.

Aldaf stood up, the Stonewarg blood staining his clothes. He looked incredibly pissed, an expression no one had seen him wear before. He put away his daggers, pulled out his bow and shot a second Stonewarg right in its eyes before tossing his boomerang and hitting it in the gut. It fell to the ground with a screech of agony before lying still.

He staggered over to Zeke, his daggers pulled out again. "Hey." His voice was exhausted, the previous anger and rage in his voice gone.

Matthias
Too late, Matthias felt the beast’s presence like a rush of air coming at his flank. He wheeled, trying to put up a defensive stance. Too late. He braced.

The shrill cry of a predator bird caught both man and monster’s attention. Before either could react Talon was tearing strips of flesh off of the Stonewarg’s face. It groaned, its attention diverted from Matthias, and swiped its massive arms through the air fruitlessly trying to swat the bird away. Talon, however, was too nimble, deftly avoiding its attacks. Matthias chopped off its left arm above the elbow then drove his blade up between the creature’s ribs, piercing its heart. When its body slumped Matthias thanked the bird for its help in his own language, for he did not speak the language of birds. He felt that the sentiment was received.

Acutely, Matthias heard what had undoubtedly been a cry for help. Instinct nudged him toward the source of the noise, but necessity turned him to face the two Stonewargs scrabbling up the sheer side of the cliff face. He prayed to the gods for the source of the cry, that their pleas would be answered, and also, that his blade would find its mark in these twisted abominations’ hides.

He struck.

The battle was decided. The flames, though still far enough off to not pose any real danger, burned hot enough that Matthias felt uneasy to be so near to them. Dragon fire... Mage fire.

Ferro’s Skybeast and the girl, the fire mage, had more or less routed the rest of the pack. They had won.

Matthias cleaned the gore from his blade and joined the others, leaving the carcasses of the two Stonewargs to their fitting ends. He stood away from the group, close enough to judge the severity of the boy’s injuries, but not too close that he was in the way. His countenance was grim, as always. He offered no comfort. He had none to give. And none for himself.

Caliban Lupei

The chaos only grew. There was blood, fire, and death everywhere. The wargs were mostly scattered and devastated but one of their own had gone down. Caliban didn't even waste time looking at anything else as he made his way swiftly to their fallen comrade. Aldaf was there at his side long before he was. As he approached he dug in his jacket and withdrew a second small brown bottle. He held it out, the smile gone completely for the first time, replaced by a scowl of grim determination. No one was going to die, not now. They were too close to their goal.

"Take this. In small enough quantities it acts as a local numbing agent. It won't heal him, but it will greatly reduce the pain. Take the tip of a single finger preferably covered in clean cloth and dip it into the solution lightly. But only the tip of your finger. Too much won't cause any more damage, but it could temporarily paralyze the area and that isn't going to help anyone. Swipe it around the edges of the wounds gently, don't press too hard. I'm sorry there isn't more I can do."

Aldaf approached and nodded to Cal, taking the bottle and pulling out a small cloth from his pack. He did as instructed, lightly wiping the cloth around Gerel's wounds. "Thank you." He shook the cloth off once he was done, then returned to Zeke, holding his hand and examining his broken pinkie.
"Damnit, Gryphon-head. What the fuck did you do to your hand?" His touch was gentle but firm. "We might need to check out a healer once we get back, because I don't think we can do anything besides bandaging it at the moment."
Aldaf put his hand on Zeke's shoulder. "Damn you, Zeke. It's like you have a death wish or something." He picked up Zeke gently, carrying him over to everyone else.

Caliban Lupei

Caliban took a few steps back, surveying their surroundings again a bit more closely this time. Turning his attention back to the group at large, the smile that was so familiar was still not present. Determination burned in his eyes, balls of brilliant flame like small suns.

"No one dies today. That is an outcome I do not accept. We may not truly know each other very well but everyone here is a good person. I won't allow good people to die if there's something I can do to help."

They were strong words, and the look he gave them said he damn well meant every one. No matter what, they would all see the end of this. They were a team now, and that meant something to him. They were more than just words to him, and the people were more than just strangers. Sure, they hadn't known each other very long but he could feel it. For some reason he could just tell. They were good people at heart. And good people didn't deserve to die up on some mountain somewhere.

Zeke silently ignored Aldaf's greetings and carefully rolled his chains that were almost scattered during his rampage. As soon as he snuck his weapon to his belt, he silently made his way to the main group. From where he stood, he could see Gerel's unconscious body and about everyone in the group was present. Zeke's eyes trailed down Gerel's bloodied form and then Zeke looked down at this own fingers.

Deep breaths, Zeke. It's just your pinky. You can still fix it. Zeke thought to himself as he pitied the unconscious boy. Zeke has never properly had a proper talk to the boy, because of the thick atmosphere around the two. After all, Zeke was the first one to provoke the boy ever since the two had met eye-to-eye for the first time. As he was drowning his own thoughts, there was Aldaf, who was continuing to speak, but Zeke blocked him off and coldly ignore the boy. When Aldaf asked him if he had a death wish, he so badly wanted to respond with a witty remark, but Zeke held his tongue as the buzz he felt on his pinky grew.

A few moments ago, he saw Caliban gave Aldaf some type of bottle that could help to numb his fingers. Now he really wished he could've snuck some in with him while he had Caliban's coat last night. For now, he will just wait and regain his energy. When Zeke tried to touch his deformed finger, he surprisingly felt nothing, but the buzzy feeling was still there and his finger was still twisted in an awkward position. Zeke felt a slight movement from inside his scarf and when he tugged his scarf down, he was greeted by Stitt's worried baby blue eyes.

"I'll be fine, Stitt. It's just a finger." When Zeke waved his pinky around the little creature, Stitt zoomed over to it and inspected it with her paws. When Zeke looked over his shoulders, he was greeted by the sight of Gerel's unconscious body, to which he cringed at the gruesome sight. Zeke took off his bloodied scarf and wrapped it around his long ebony hair and shook some dried blood on his face.

Aldaf noticed Zeke ignoring him. He huffed, grabbed his shoulders and turned Zeke to look at him. "Look at me, you asshole!" He said firmly, a bit louder than he wanted. "Look at me! For once in your whole Gods be damned life, STOP BEING A STUBBORN ASSHOLE!" His eyes were angry, but only because of the situation. He wanted to get through to Zeke. Aldaf exhaled a sigh.
"I'm worried about you, Zeke. You're trying so desperately to keep yourself separate from everyone." He started to calm down. "I can't let you go off and die. Not after what you told me yesterday."
His eyes were a piercing emerald, and he knew what Zeke had been mulling over back at the cave. "So, god damnit Zeke, even if you punch me in the goddamn face or stab me in the leg, bash my head with a rock or leave me to starve, I don't give a shit. I won't let you just push everyone away. It hurts, Zeke."
He spoke from experience, an experience he's only told one other about. He sighed again. "So stop being such an arrogant asshole and talk to me."

Despite all their efforts, the stonewargs still seemed to have the upperhand. Much to her distress, she found that Gerel had been gravely injured in the process. While she was tempted to run to her friend and check on him, several others were already tending to him and she honestly didn't know if she would be of any help in that situation.

Thanks to Serik's warning, Marylka turned just in time to see the second Stonewarg charging towards her. She dived out of the way, narrowly avoiding it's slashing claws. Drawing on her magic once more, she pressed her hands to the ground and froze the space where it stood. It's next step caused the beast to go down with a yelp of surprise. Before it could regain it's footing, Marylka stabbed it in the neck with the kindjal still clutched in her hand, bursting an artery and splattering blood across her front. At the back of her mind, Marylka noted that her magic had somehow become significantly stronger. She was certain that had she used as much magic as she just did a year ago, she would have passed out from the exhaustion alone.

Just as she thought they were done for, a blast of fire, bright and burning, came forth, chasing the rest of the stonewargs away. Kari...
When the smoke had cleared and silence settled over them once more, Marylka slumped down onto the ground. She rubbed the sweat from her face, unknowingly smearing the streak of warg blood as well. It was then she remembered her friend. With a gasp, she dragged herself over to the group. "Oh gods, how is he?!"

Seeing that the others were busying themselves with taking care of the other injured, Cal made his way over to Lea. With those in immediate danger being looked after by others, he could turn his attention to everything else. He held out his hand, cracking his usual smile down at her when he reached her side.

"Hey there dork, need a hand? Sorry. I saw one of the others bleeding and just kind of went to tunnel vision."

He still looked rather ashamed of himself for not helping her up sooner. He would probably be kicking himself about it for the next few days.

Once Aldaf grabbed a hold of Zeke's shoulder, Stitt suddenly flew away to Zeke's distaste. As Aldaf literally gushed his feeling out to Zeke. Zeke felt the numbness swept over him once more as he felt his pinky twitch in anticipation. Zeke also noticed that Aldaf said 'Zeke's' name properly and somehow, that made Zeke's heart skip a slight beat. However, Zeke shook his head as he clutches his heart tightly in an attempt to subdue his heartbeat. Zeke doesn't know what emotion he was feeling, but it made him weak to his knees, and he didn't like that one bit.

When Zeke finally had enough, the feeling of numbness swept over him once more, Zeke preferred it when he doesn't feel anything anyways, he thinks it's a good way to get through life. "Didn't I tell you to get your hands away from me?" Zeke slowly wrapped his left knuckles with his golden knuckle behind his back. Zeke roughly shoved Aldaf's hands away from him as he continued to speak. "In Westeros, that would be considered as an assault, so don't call me an asshole, when you yourself is being one right at this moment. And if you think that I'm going to die with merely a broken finger, then you've clearly underestimated my talents." Therefore, you see me as a weakling, therefore, the more reason to separate myself from you. He thought as he felt his left hand clenched in frustration, holding his golden dusters.

During that frustrating moment, Zeke swiftly gave Aldaf a swift punch in the jaw and after he did that, Zeke avoided eye contact and turned his back to him, facing Stitt, who had a look of pure surprise and worry. Yes, Zeke's punches were not the strongest, but they're also not the most feeble ones either. "You said I could, so if you touch me again next time, I promise I won't hesitate." And I keep my promises well-kept. I hate broken ones.

Zeke silently prayed to the gods above that he made the right decision. Hopefully, he'll hate me enough to never speak to me again.

Aldaf felt his jaw move out of place. It stung. He silently grabbed a hold of his jaw and popped it back into place, his head still turned from Zeke's punch. He turned, looking at Zeke. "Come on then." He stood there firmly, staring at Zeke with determined eyes. "Come on. Show me how you feel, Zeke. Hit me again." Aldaf stood, braced for impact.
"Do it!" He shouted at Zeke. His voice was firm, but not angry. Determined, but not furious.

The sounds of a fight came from behind them, and Cal turned around to see what the fuss was about, having thought they were done with their battle. Seeing that two of their team were at each others throats, something inside him snapped just a little. Turns out, there was in fact a limit to his good cheer. He stormed over to the group, looking the closest to truly angry that he had ever been in front of them before. It was truly a shock, and not something he would have done in a different situation. But they had to work together or they could all very well end up dead.

"Enough!"

Just one single word, and it carried like thunder across the mountain.

"We are a team. Like it or not, we have to work together or none of us may make it off this mountain alive. One of us is on the ground bleeding, now is not the time for a pissing match! We all have things to work through, that's fine. But can we please focus on getting out of here alive, all of us? There are bigger things to worry about."

Aldaf stood down, but leaned in to whisper to Cal. "I needed to talk to him, Cal." He walked away without another word, the snow crunching lightly below him as he moved over to Gerel. He did so deliberately, but halfway there he gingerly touched his shoulder and flinched. He stopped, feeling both of his arms. He winced the tiniest bit before grabbing his arms and popping them back into place with sickening cracking sounds as he groaned. "Fuck, that hurt." He murmured before kneeling beside Gerel.

Caliban Lupei

The rage and irritation drained quickly from his face as Caliban put that usual smile back in its place. Shouting would do no one any good right now, and cooler heads should prevail in these kinds of situations. Turning to face everyone, he addressed the assembled team.

"Look. I get it, I do. But right now, the survival of everyone here should take first priority. Everything else comes afterwards. We survive, then we mend. We're in a dangerous situation right now and it's only going to get worse as we go. One of us has lost a good bit of blood, one of his has a badly injured hand, and several of us have many more minor injuries. And this is just the first encounter we've had on this mountain together. If we don't work together, chances are good that no one will make it home. That is just a reality we have to accept for the moment. Yes, some of us get on the others nerves. Yes, some of us are hiding things because we don't know everyone around us well enough to be comfortable revealing that information. Is it possible that the time we've forgotten could hold answers to some of those questions? Sure. But for the moment, our survival may very well be determined by whether or not we can work as a cohesive team. Before we go any further, we all have to understand that entirely. Would I prefer it if we all got along? That goes without saying, absolutely. Everyone here seems to be a decent sort of person. But we will have time for that. Think of it like this. We can discuss our feelings here on this cold, horrifying, dangerous mountain or we could discuss our feelings after we get our beasts and can fly through the sky and feel the wind blow through our hair."

Aldaf sighed as he popped his shoulder somewhat back into place from ramming the Stonewarg. It stung and hurt, but he's dealt with worse.
"Cal, I get it. I know you want us to work together, and that we can work out our issues while we travel. I get it. I 100% get it. But sometimes, things need to be said and need to be said immediately. I don't want anyone to die up here, same as you. Now, can you do me a favor and just push my arm up into my shoulder? I think I dislocated it from ramming one of the Stonewargs. I can't get it right myself."
Aldaf knew about keeping himself in working order until he got home, but that was the extent of what he knew.

Zeke was surprised, to say the least. He expected the green-eyed boy to stand down, after his rough punch. Zeke didn't mean to give it his all, but his frustration took the best in him and the punch alone, made him exhausted. So, Zeke was forever thankful for Caliban's interference, because he wouldn't be able to land a rough punch like that again, because of the sore muscles he currently has. And besides, Zeke would've just refused to anyway if it were to ever come to that.

And he had the guts to call ME a stubborn asshole. Zeke momentarily closed his eyes, before opening them to meet Stitt's blue eyes. Zeke wrapped his long scarf around his neck clumsily as he sat down near the group. Not so far, but it is near enough to hear some of the ongoing conversations. At the moment, Zeke wondered what would happen to the heavily injured guy a few feet away from him, would the group leave him behind because he will just pose as a 'deadweight'? Or will they stick to their sickly sweet motives and bring him along? Zeke quietly observed the group as the same scenario rang over his head when he was a little helpless kid. They clearly left him behind because he was WEAK.

Will they do the same thing with Gerel? That was the only question that bothered him. Will I see them differently if they didn't? At the moment, he's just a mere observer, waiting for the right time to speak up.

"I somehow agree with Blondie, over here. I just want this whole thing to be over with, so it would be nice if we don't start anything." Zeke told the group, but his eyes stayed with Aldaf longer than usual, as if he was addressing him.

Serik was just sitting right next to Gerel the entire time the band were fending off the stonewargs. Ferro’s dragon Emerald and Kari destroyed most of them with their fire and eventually put an end to the beasts. Everyone gathered up with the band again

“Come on, friend Gerel. You must be strong. Everyone is here for you.” Serik spoke to the unconscious young man.

A small fight broke then out between Ezekiel and Aldaf. Serik didn’t catch what they were fighting about but it surprised him since Ezekiel seemed to have behaved much better from the start. He even started talking to Serik earlier, so why were they fighting about again, he had no idea. However, it irritated him. Gerel was in near death state and they were fighting like everyone else were not there... Fortunately, Caliban put and end to it with his speech. Serik began to admire this Sudentarian man more.

In that place between consciousness and darkness, Gerel stood on that plain in Estendor beneath a gray sky, with that strange cloud of feathers and lightning flashing all around him. Before his eyes, the feathers begin to coalesce into something familiar... a horse, one who unfurled wings of deepest blue, one whose horn reflected Casseus' fury. "Awaken, child," a voice echoed around him. "Your companions need you still. And we have yet to meet. You have yet to prove yourself worthy of the path forward. Awaken."

"Awaken."

"AWAKEN."

Searing pain. White hot burning pain. Gerel jerked awake, barely keeping his screams in by gritting his teeth. Through the whiteness bordering his vision he saw people around him, but he could not make them out... except for her. Kari knelt beside him, hands glowing with magic. Briefly he remembered her surprise -- and disgust -- at her own magic, but another round of pain nearly blacked him out a second time. He held on, letting his anger and embarrassment at himself stoke his consciousness awake. He was the first one who fell. The first one who became a burden to the rest. Guilt gripped at his heart, stronger than the pain of cauterizing his wounds.

Yet, Kari was there, eyes full of determination, lips drawn tight in concentration. Gerel felt the guilt slowly fading away, replaced by a familiar warmth. He raised a hand and placed it on Kari's shoulder, gripping it in gratitude. He was finally awake, though weak from the blood loss. But he would not let it hinder him, or their journey, or his companions. Not again.

At least Kari was safe. At least he was able to do that much.

Caliban Lupei

Cal made his way over to Aldaf and, once out of earshot of the others, whispered as he helped set the man's shoulder.

"Look. I'm worried about him too, but right now we need to focus on getting out of here alive. Also, grit your teeth. This isn't going to feel good."

Caliban swiftly popped the joint back into place, cracking loudly.

"If this situation were different, if we weren't all in danger of being mauled to death by terrifying monsters on a freezing mountain, I would be right by your side doing everything I could to help Zeke. But living comes first. Though once we make it out of this alive, you have my aid if you want it. I don't know why but...I get the strange feeling that at least a few of us have met before."
