Shinobi [Inactive]

Hitomi's eyes tensed at the word.

Gripping hold of his katana now if that was at all possible .

"What wedding...?" He asked gritting his teeth

"Oh, she hasn't told you?"

Kenji laughed in that sinister kind of way that made you wish you could kill him just with one look.

"We're engaged! Isn't that beautiful?" He lifted his hand and motioned to Eva's left hand as well, where there were black tattoos mimicking rings around both of their ring fingers. Eva stopped struggling and just stared at Hitomi, wanting to explain but knowing the blade against her neck would only cut deeper if she tried to do anything more than breathe. Kenji stroked Eva's hair slowly, looking down at her while she didn't bother to exchange the sentiment. She had gotten used to his behaviors, for the most part, but his touch still bothered her as much as his voice did.

"You'd so willingly slit your fiancée's throat? You won't harm her! Let go of her now!" Hitomi spat quickly

Eva shut her eyes, knowing what was next.

This was just how Kenji was...how he had always been since she was forced with him 7 years ago.

Kenji chuckled to himself momentarily.

"Oh, won't I?"

In a swift motion he ran his blade across Eva's entire chest, shoulder to shoulder, a train of blood chasing after the opening and slipping down to stain her skin and clothing. As reaction, Eva's sword still pressed against the back of his neck slit mercilessly across the back of Kenji's neck to create a similar incision. Kenji dropped Eva, who kneeled to the ground and allowed her eyes to wash over in blue, not making a single motion towards her wound, while Kenji wrapped his palm against the back of his neck. He just laughed again, staring into Hitomi's eyes in jest.

"See? We're a loving couple."

"Eva!" He cried out before glaring at Kenji

"Get out of my house!" Hitomi instinctively threw a dagger towards Kenji.

Kenji swiftly fell to his knees, the dagger barely passing over his head as he reared up to see Hitomi's anger growing more apparent.

He loved seeing the man this way. Though Kenji had never before met this Hitomi character, he knew of the past he had with his fiance, and more importantly, knew that he was searching to the very thing he was protecting.

Amaya.

Eva didn't seem to flinch, but another shot of some odd energy shot through her, this time coming from the back of her neck. It seemed to cause a spark beneath her skull, as she instantly looked to Hitomi with an apologetic smile.

"Sorry, Hitomi. I tried."

Kenji smirked, gripping Eva's left hand and pulling her through the opening of the door. With that, they vanished into the dark.
"The Council, please. I've brought back Eve."

"Yes, Sergeant Kenji."

Eva walked at Kenji's side, neither of them touching or looking at one another as they walked further into the darkened hall towards the red-stained doors. Eva breathed carefully, still not feeling right, and knowing the Council was bound to see something about her was different.

Kenji's abrupt voice ceased her thoughts. "I certainly hope, for your sake, Lord Mikami is in a dazzling mood."

"Shut up, Kenji." Eva hissed, ignoring the feel of his hand tightening around her palm in a forced hand hold.

"There's the little sweetheart I know," he chided with a smile, as he pushed open the red doors and revealed the circular Council room. Sitting in tall chairs reaching above their heads, a group of 9 men surrounded the two, one man in particular deciding to stand to his feet as they entered. His hair was white from age, and his skin pale from the lack of light, but his pitch black robe sifted behind him as he furiously approached the two young forms.

"Eve, what the hell happened to you," he growled, approaching the girl and immediately striking her across the face. She didn't make a sound, just allowed her head to be slammed to the side and her eyes fall to the ground in hopes that he wouldn't see the blue.

"I'm sorry, Father."

The older man stood up straight, ignoring the apology and facing Kenji now with a stern, grim expression.

"With the wedding taking place in just a few days, I expected more surveillance over my daughter," he coughed, while Kenji tightened his grip on Eve's hand.

"An old bow got in the way, sir," he looked pathetically towards the girl who still refused eye contact, "Apparently I'm not suitable."

The white-haired man snagged Eve's chin in his grasp and forced her to look up at him. Immediately he noted the blue in her eyes and he held back a gasp.

"My god....."

"EVA!" Hitomi ran to the window and screamed into the darkness.

They were gone. Gone.

"No... No.. NOO!"
Hitomi instinctively picked up a chair next to him and slammed it against the wall in a burst of fury. Splinters flew and filled the air. Hitomi let out a howling cry of anguish.

In a sudden focus of energy, his feet picked up and carried him back downstairs. Black bodies and body parts flung about the room, pools of blood continuing to grow larger– Hitomi strode past them in urgency moving towards his computer.

"Where is she? Where did he take her?" He began typing furiously on the keyboard.

"There you go, dear. All finished."

Eva rested her head back against the reclining chair, finally breathing at a normal pace as the woman retracted the needle from her arm. Eighteen shots later, and she still wouldn't move. Her mind was wandering somewhere else.

"That should take care of his serum, so no more mind control, darling," the woman tried to comfort her, rubbing Eva's shoulder blade as she neatly lined up 18 viles of red liquid. So much blood....Eva stared at it. She knew it was hers but she was starting to fall asleep with it's loss. Eighteen viles...so much...

"You'll feel a bit dizzy for awhile, but I know Kenji has been setting up your bedroom nice and comfy so you can just lie down and sleep the rest of the day, if you want to," the nurse smiled, innocent, and yet her eyes of black told Eva otherwise, "We had to take a lot of blood out of you, poor thing! That evil man that took you certainly knew what he was doing-thought we'd never get it all out! But there you have it," she patted Eva's hand, "all better."

Eva blinked, trying to refocus. She definitely felt different, and dizzy, and incredibly tired....but her mind wasn't where it used to be.

Hitome....I have to talk to Hitome...

"Thank you-" Eva quietly said, trying to display a smile for the kind lady assisting her, "do you think I could get some fresh air for a moment?"

"Well....Lady Eve...I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to have you leave until Kenji comes by to pick you up and take you to your room-"

"Oh please," Eva begged like an angel, looking up at the woman with so much hope and beauty she couldn't muster any more, "Kenji won't mind. I'll come right back, I just think I need a little bit of fresh air to help with the dizziness."

The woman looked preciously back at Eva with a wink and understanding smile.

"Go on ahead, madame. I will send him to the balconies when he comes by."

"Thank you."

Eva had to prop herself against the wall in order to walk a straight line, but she kept her wits about her as she turned silently into one of the vacant office spaces. She saw a computer still humming, and approached it with the intention of only finding Hitome's contact. But when she looked into the computer's glass, it scanned her eyes in order to identify the user. It showed that her eyes were losing the blue hue they had before, and most of her iris was black....

f.uck

Eva glanced over the documents she was searching and opened a file. If she knew Hitome, he would already be on his own computer and looking for her location. The least she could do was make his job easier.

She found the contact information, reading:

Hitome Maru

Execution: Confirmed (immediate action initiated 17:03 minutes ago)

Computer surveillance code: 892zHIT07431

They had already confirmed his execution.

Hitomi was next on their hit list.

Eva quickly typed in the surveillance code and within second a screen popped up on the side of her computer that showed her everything Hitomi was typing at that very moment. Of course, just as she thought. He was looking for the Shinobi location.

She quickly formed an IM projection onto her screen and sent it through like a virus to Hitomi's computer. It read:

"It's Eva. They're after you. Run."

Typing feverishly on the computer, Hitomi was able to hone in on the gps signal being giving off from the transmitters that were in Eva's body.

"What? No. This isn't righ– Oh... no!"

He was receiving multiple signals all at once. She was alive, but separated— suddenly, an IM came up on his screen reading:

"It's Eva. They're after you. Run."

She's alive! But for how long and how much of her will be left by the time he reaches her?

Hitomi rose from the computer and reached for a backpack from under his bed. With it, he walked to the counter emptying supplies into his backpack. Vials, syringes, needles, notes, everything he would need to help Eva should he find her again. He then moved again towards the wall next to his bed.

"Open Gear"

Another panel in the wall shifted away revealing a new suit. It was a lightweight and high-tech piece of work that he'd been working on. Much like the previous suit, it offered things like camouflage, sonar, protection, etc. This suit utilized his neural pathways to an extreme— the suit connected with him and it became a part of his body, offering him new strength, quickness and heightened senses.

Hitomi suddenly grew quiet and listened. Soft foot steps moved above him. Black soldiers had entered his home again. One of them looked up and saw his blackened comrade pinned to the ceiling— a trickle of blood roll down and off his boot onto the floor.

"He did that?" a shiver ran through his spine as he stared in horror at the dead soldier now above him.

"Apparently he was offered a job at Shinobi long ago and he turned it down."

"Do you think he's still here?"

Hitomi walking silently to his backpack and strapped it tight into the curve of his back, then reached for his sword lodging it in its place between his back and backpack. His suit magnetically hung on to it and it stuck there. A serious face donned his expression as his crystal visor fell over his eyes, now partially covered by the computer screen unfolding from the near his ear. His eyes burned red with fury.

Let's go

Hitomi why the hell aren't you responding...

Eva looked over her shoulder towards the door to confirm that no one was on their way in, and logged off of the computer, shutting it down fully. She carefully walked to the door, closing it gently behind her and casually made her way to the hangar.

There stood a beautiful glass case, impenetrable, and reading with black numbers all across the front like a live computer. It seemed to sense her presence.

"Name."

"Eve Mikami the Third."

Easy as that, the to front doors of the case lifted, revealing the beautiful sight she had missed.

Two long swords in completely iron sheaths, a collection of wrist knives, and a suit much more fitting for her: A black body suit with carefully placed armor and guards. She sighed a sigh of complete relief....but at the same time it seemed to flood into her mind all of the damage that she had done....

She had turned into a murderer....a cold blooded murderer.

She was killing people just like her.

Something snapped in the back of her neck, sending a shock through her spine that was there as if to correct her thoughts. She tried to ignore it and put on the armor quietly.

Feeling and weighing the swords in her hand she released her breath again.

She had one last thing to do before she left

Eva took the edge of the sword and pressed it deep within the floor right in front of the glass case holding all of the weaponry. She used it to spell out a single phrase: F.uck you ALL

She didn't want to ever be back to this place again. She turned to leave.

"Going somewhere sweetheart?"

Kenji stood there casually within the entrance of the door, Eva putting both swords into the scabbards on her back. She smirked gently, nearing him tauntingly.

"Sorry, hunny, it seems I just have cold feet..." she said, bringing an identical smirk to his face. He withdrew a long knife from one of the sheathes on his thigh, twirling it carefully in front of him.

"Let me help, baby...you don't need both of them anyway..." he took a step towards her, and she towards him, still with that fake smile.

"You don't really want an arranged bride, do you hun?"

"On the contrary, I can't wait for the marriage," he laughed, almost nose to nose with her, neither giving the other any power. "I'll marry any b.itch to inherit the last shard of Amaya."

She knew that was the reason the marriage had been arranged, why her father leaned so heavily on Kenji, and why Kenji so desperately agreed to the marriage. Now that she understood everything about Amaya....she actually realized the danger even her people were in.

He wanted Amaya to gain control of Shinobi.

With just a laugh, Eva closed her eyes and vanished beneath a bed of black smoke.

Her reappearance was directly behind a flock of her own men walking into Hitome's home. She illegally had to concentrate her chakra to do this....she'd never done that before. She'd never gone against protocol...

She shrugged it off and burst through the door, following the men in black right through Hitomi's front door. Without breaking her own comfort, she withdrew both swords and spoke in the middle of the group of men.

They were trainees. That meant the real threats were on their way still.

She thrust her sword into the air and shouted with authority.

"Section 14 of the Shinobi, I override your mission by stating placement, Mikami, Eve!"

At this, all heads turned to her and all of the bodies in black knelt to the ground in a hush.

Hitomi let out a shutter.

Wait! Was that Eva's voice?!

If it was, how the hell did she get back here? And more- what the hell is she doing here? Either she was sent here with the men or ....she escaped somehow?

Hitomi's mind raced as he gripped harder on his swords preparing for a fight.

Part of her enjoyed it. But another part of her just realized how awful it was that she did.

She had spun once in a circle, both blades held out to her sides as the wave of force threw in a hurricane formation around the room. When she stood, ten very decapitated heads were starting to slide off of ten very still bodies.

She leaned down the spiral staircase, seeing Hitomi standing there, prepared for attack. She tried to smile, feeling the familiar pain zap through the back of her neck again while she spoke.

"Hey, you're house is a mess."

To see Eva standing there was a relief. His hands relaxed over their weapons and his shoulders dropped at the sight of her lovely face. Hitomi's eyes grew bright as he found the blue in hers to look back into.

"Wild party last night. Had I known you be coming over, I'd have cleaned up some," he said walking over to her as he kicked a severed head out of his way.

He stopped in front of her and looked at her for a moment breathing deeply in.

"Are you hurt? What did they do to you?"

She just stared into his eyes. She hesitated, then gave into a choppy sigh.

"Nothing, I'm fine-"

she saw a flash of Kenji scolding her as soon as they got to the Base...how he had suffocated her against a wall while having his way before they went before her father....how her father had created a fresh new cut on her lip from striking her across the face....how her body convulsed when they injected needle after needle into her skin and held her down.....

She blinked, breathing in and faking another smile, entering back into their reality.

"I'm control free though, sorry to say," she lifted her arms, showing the wounds still lightly bleeding and bruising from the needles, "Took them 18 f.ucking tries, and half of the blood in my body, but I'm Hitomi-control free."

She leaned up against the last ledge of the stair, passing him and staring away from him. It hurt to look at his eyes.

"Sorry my fiance is a d.ick by the way. I would say he isn't always like that, but he actually is."

"Eva," his voice trailed off as he reached out for her hand. "Your wounds." He pointedly stared towards them. He wanted to help somehow. "Come downstairs while we still have time left, I can give you some medicine that will help the pain and dizziness." He looked back to her. "Please?"

Taking her by the hand, he led her slowly down to the table where hours earlier they were having a completely different conversation.

"Here, sit down." He patted the table letting go of her hand as he then walked over to his counter opening some cupboards.

A silence fell over the room as he was trying to think what to ask...

"Those bruises on your sides and hip— did Kenji give those to you?" He was trying to be delicate, he didn't want to bring up too much of a painful reminder if he was right. He walked over to her with a box of medicine he began to shuffle through.

She sat down on the table, running her palm across it longways

Long time no see....

She was surprised by the question, not sure how to answer. She figured she would jump past the truth and just tell him the important information.

"My father promised me to him years ago," she started, shifting her weight on the table and letting her eyes wander, "and I happen to come with a special prize," she nodded towards Hitomi's belt, smirking like it was common knowledge, "Your pretty little Amaya shard number 9 is part of the crown I'm given at the wedding." She looked down and tried to laugh.

Hitomi stopped and stared at her.

"You're f.ucking me."

Here all this time, and that's why that dick of a fiancé treated her so terribly. He didn't care about her, he just wanted Ayame. Hitomi reached out his hand silently expecting her to give him her hand.

She very carefully placed her left hand in his palm, not sure what he was about to do. It just made her notice the black ring tattoo on her ring finger. She remembered being 13 years old and having the tattoo put into her skin without control.

"Nah, if I was f.ucking you, you'd know it." she smirked, feeling his hand in hers.

Her hand was cold to the touch. Severe lack of blood would.

Hitomi opened up a bit of parchment revealing a small metal penny like object. It was perfectly circular, and silver and completely smooth on each side. "This may sting a bit but it'll help with the pain and blood loss."

He flipped it over so it would land in her hand. After removing the parchment away it saw it there sitting in her hand.

"Hold it there with your hand open. It'll absorb away into your bloodstream soon."

Hitomi went back to the box of medicine shuffling through again.

"Why would your father do such a stupid thing like that to you when you young? I remember us playing when we were little... Until one day. That must have been the day your father decided to have you marry Kenji."

"I don't remember....I guess that would make sense," she said quietly, trying to recall that day a little better. "I know my father hated you more than anything. You refused to join Shinobi when you turned 13, the deployment age, and when I told him that I didn't want to join either, he told me I didn't have a choice. He thought Kenji was perfect, skilled, focused, everything. He was just sucking up to my dad, even that young....he had joined two years earlier and was already on the Ayame assignment. So Kenji must have realized that by marrying me, he could incidentally inherit the 9th shard." she shook her head, laughing at the situation, "My father must have fallen for Kenji's wooing. We were engaged that day...we were given these tattoos to secure it and they injected me," she pointed to the back of her neck. "That's when I started changing...I guess I just gave up....I'm sorry, I don't know."

She watched the medicine absorb into her palm almost completely, tilting her head in a thoughtful daze.

"I figure he plans on killing me as soon as we're married..." she muttered almost to herself, staring at the black ring on her finger, "And I guess I just kind of figured I'd make the most of life before I was offed."

Hitomi walked around behind the table to look at her neck. He brushed his hand over her skin and couldn't feel anything, but saw a small black hole where the needle must have gone.

"So willingly to death without so much as a fight— doesn't sound like you." He took a syringe and needle and drew up a vial of a clear liquid.

"i'm giving you something I made a while back. There's a special flower that I found some time ago– I was able to synthesize it into a oil like medicine... It actually is a key ingredient in the serum I gave you earlier which they extracted. Don't worry, no mind control this time."

He placed the needle head directly over the injection sight and dripped the liquid onto her skin. Each drop absorbed into the back of her neck like water in dry soil.

"I don't know if it'll help with whatever they'd given you, but I do know that it can't be bad for you."

He walked back around and put away the medicine.

She was quiet for a moment, feeling the serum seep into her skin. "Thanks" she said dryly, looking to the ground. She felt her body jolt forward a bit in her seat, as if some muscle spasm disagreed with her. She grabbed the back of her neck again and tapped it.

"Can you perform surgery?"

He smiled lightly, but with his back to her, had it not been for his tone of voice, she'd have never known. "Well, after everything I've been through..." he threw up his hands and above them, purple light flooded the ceiling again and images appeared. Images of him all broken and bloodied.

"The past few days haven't been the first time I've dealt with Shinobi." He threw up different pictures, ones of him with broken bones, charred skin, and all manners of after effects from being tortured. "Had I never found that flower on the mountain one day... I'd be worse then gone."

He flung up a before and after picture. There was no comparison. One picture had him tattered and scarred with bruises and blood, while the other looked as if he had never been harmed at all. No scars or marks or bruises or blood.

"That's when I started creating the nano-'robot' serum you had earlier. My body began to shut down in ways I never thought it could, but thankfully, the serum helped reserve my decaying body. My blood is full of the serum— it helped keep me alive. Ever since, I've been like brand new."

He opened his arms so that Eva could see the lack of scars on his strong arms.

"So... yes, I more or less had to teach myself how to perform. Most of it through trial and error." he grimaced slightly with a smile.
