Maplehollow arose from her sleep. It was the first time she had slept in moons with Silverpaw still missing. She sighed overwhelmed with sadness of the missing she cat and her apprentice. I need to go tell Dreamstar to pick a new deputy, she thought. A deputy hadn't been chosen in a moon since but given all the death it was hard. She approached her leaders den with heavy paws, prepared to fight to convince her this time. "Dreamstar," she called in a soft but stern voice. "We need to find a deputy," straight to the point, Maplehollow looked at her leader with an unwavering gaze.

@Jinx @Flutterby (last chance for flutter)

Dream star lifted her head, her eyes glazed and her fur matted. She sat up slowly, for being so young she look as if she was an elder. "I'm well aware of that, but who? Is any cat even worthy of title of deputy?" She said her voice was horse from the lack of water, her small frail body from the lack of food.

@DemonKitten

Maplehollow gave an inward sigh. "Are you saying you do not trust your warriors? It isn't their fault for all these tragedies," She meowed softly. It felt like she was losing her leader in more ways than one. Trained to heal and care for her clan, yet, she was watching her leader wither away from her. "Perhaps an older warrior? Badgerlily? or even one of your parents? They are wise and have seen much terror to help guide you through these tough times," She meowed gently, but would it do any good.

@Jinx

How long have I been gone? The now-not-so-tiny cat wondered. Its been moons, Ive been walking for almost two. I can't believe this happened, to me of all cats. Silverpaw trudged along, tiredness making her hold her head and tail down. I'll never find the way back.. this is hopeless. Stupid Twolegs.. Suddenly, she caught a faint scent on the wind. Could it be? Silverpaw opened her mouth, drawing in the scent. Yes! That was the smell of Shadeclan! The cat took off as fast as she could, just barely managing a slow lope. Soon, she found herself on the banks of the river, and after crossing to the other side, she made her way upstream. At last, the medicine cat apprentice found the Shimmerclan scent marker, the edge of the territory. The edge of home. After being kidnapped by Twolegs, taken away, escaping and wandering for a moon and a half, she was home. The cat let out an overjoyed meow, which came out more like a raspy squeak, and ran to camp. With a deep breath, she entered camp, quite a bit larger and sporting new scars, mostly on her muzzle and ears. "Maplehollow?" She called, although a little weakly; the first cat she wanted to see was her beloved mentor.

The voice was almost unfamiliar to her ear, but how could she forget her beloved apprentice. Maplehollow flicked her ears to the source of the sound and, once sure, ran out of Dreamstar's den and towards the entrance. "Silverpaw!" She meowed happily. "Finally good news for all this sadness," she purred as she rubbed muzzles with her returned apprentice. "Where have you been? What a strange scent you have? Are you injured? Hungry? Thirsty? Oh never mind all of that! I knew you would return," she rubbed her scent all over Silverpaw. "Dreamstar! There is grand news!" She called to her leader.

@Jinx @Flutterby

Silverpaw enthusiastically rubbed muzzles with her mentor, purring low in her throat. "I-I was coming back from following that loner, and some Twoleg kits grabbed me and wrapped me in a strange leaf. I couldnt get away. They.. they locked me in a metal den for a few days, and then put me in a monster and we traveled for a very long time. I think they were changing dens. I got away as soon as I could, I clawed a hole in a weak spot of their den. But it was so hard to find my way back." She explained briefly, still brushing against Maplehollow's fur. Her scent was so comforting, just the smell of Shimmerclan was a welcome home. "Im just tired from traveling. I could use some dock." She added, lifting a forepaw to show cracked, nearly bleeding pads. "How is everything?" She asked, wondering why Maplehollow looked so extremely tired.

Maplehollow looked back at Silverpaw and at her paw. "Let us go to the den and talk," She mowed as she led her apprentice back to the place she belonged. She grabbed the dock and placed it in front of Silverpaw. "As for everything..." She paused. Technically they had been better off than Shadeclan, but yet they suffered equally. "Lightningstar. I just can't get her to get out of her stupor," Maplehollow sighed as she gave a quick lick to her apprentices cheek which was a tad dirty. "But we will worry about that later," She purred as she pointed towards Silverpaw's nest. "You go and rest while I take care of everything," Maplehollow felt some life come back to her at the return of her apprentice.

@Flutterby

The scent of the medicine den was achingly familiar, and Silverpaw felt the weight of the last two moons lifted off her shoulders. This is home. The apprentice took the dock leaf gratefully, carefully treating her own paws. The soothing herb added to her relief, making her begin to purr softly, overjoyed to have come home. But from Maplehollow's reaction to her question, it seemed that things were going badly for all. "I did notice she was looking rather.. lifeless." She meowed softly, glancing at the entrance of the den worriedly. "But surely our new deputy is keeping things running..?" She added, looking at her mentor inquiringly, asking several questions at once. Even so, when Maplehollow pointed to her next, still just as she had left it, Silverpaw couldnt resist. She padded over, sniffing the moss. It didnt hold much of her scent anymore, but when she began to climb in, it was as if she had never left it. Curling up in it, she peered over at Maplehollow, feeling a swell of affection for her mentor. Even after two moons, she welcomed her with an open heart. The apprentice tried to stay awake, to continue catching up, but her eyes grew so heavy that she fell asleep, without even realizing it.

Badgerlily entered camp in silence, Gingerpaw and Briarpaw shortly behind. The disappearances of their medicine apprentice had been hard on all though as she sniffs the air the familiar scent hit the shecat. An overjoyed shout exitted Gingerpaw as he raced from his brother and Badgerlily and went for the medicine den to check for himself. "Silverpaw!" He called. It would make things slightly better having her back. The apprentice had been a huge help for them all after all of their losses.

His eyes lit up seeing the young shecat and quickly he greets her. "You're back!" The tom cheers before realizing that Maplehollow and she were in mid conversation. "Sorry!" He tells them and backs out of the den fast enough to run into an awaiting Badgerlily. She gives the cat a short hiss then looks into the den. "I am sorry Maplehollow but has Dreamstar eaten today..?" Her concern for their leader runs deep and having had few chances at seeing the shecat, it didn't look too good. "Welcome back Silverpaw." She whispered seeing that she fell asleep then looks back to Maplehollow.

((Sorry my post kind of sucks..))

Dream star watched as silver paw entered the camp, she sighed as she looked around at her warriors. Witch warrior would make a good deputy and maybe leader, she thought long and hard going over all the warriors names in her head and there ups and downs.

She sighed not knowing who to pick, she went to stand up but as soon as she felt dizzy. She knew it was from not eating and drinking for the past couple days. She sat back down, he head spinning. She wished she would of eaten and drank but the idea of picking a deputy a moon late! Got to her, she knew it was Custom that a deputy was to picked that day before moon high. She looked up to the sky and prayed to star clan that she had made the right choice. She got up and pushed past the dizziness, she gathered the strength she had left and lept up to the high rock.

"All cats old enough to catch there own pray, meet here under the high rock for a clan meeting!" Her raspy voice rung around the clearing as she waited for he cats to come.

(Sorry it's bad but ya)

@everyone in shimmer clan!!)

((It was just fine @Jinx :) ))

Before Badgerlily could be given a response from the medicine cat her attention was shifted elsewhere. "A meeting.." She mumbles surprised and quietly leaves the den and follows behind the other two apprentices who were walking before her. Her eyes glance up to their leader and it is hard to restrain the shocked gasp that threatened to erupt from her throat. 'Oh, Dreamstar...' Shefalls in line, at the back of everyone else as usual but allows herself to search around. She had yet to see Wasppaw all day which causes a brief panic inside her chest.

Maplehollow purrs at Gingerpaw. "She will be better later to visit," She meowed and looked over at Silverpaw who was falling deep into a sleep. Maplehollow turned back to Baderlily at her words of concern. "No, not much. Not much in awhile," she sighed as they were all called for a clan meeting. "Maybe that is a good sign," She meowed with hope in her pretty turquoise eyes. She let Silverpaw stay and guided the others outside the den to the clan meeting.

@Jinx @Flutterby @ShadedRose

Wildsong and Stonesong trotted out of the warriors den together, looking like a single cat if seen from the wrong angle. "She looks terrible.." Wildsong whispered to her brother, who merely flicked his tail over her shoulders. They sat down together, in the middle of the thinning crowd, and looked up respectfully. Even Wildsong was silent, a rare state for the rambunctious she-cat.

Dream star looked around the clearing to see if most of her cats where there she was going to start even if there where some cats missing. "Cats of shimmer clan" she said her raspy voice rang out "it is time for me to chose a deputy, and yes I know it is late a moon late, but that dose not matter." She said as her lifeless eyes looked at her warriors. "I know I haven't been the leader you all needed this moon and I am sorry for this." She said sorrow filled her eyes. "But that aside, your new deputy will be." She stopped looking at her cats holding all of them would approve her choice and that star clan would to.

Briarpaw stared up at the leader of Shimmer clan, his eyes glancing over he lifeless eyes and frail body. It wouldn't take a genius to tell that she was ill from grieving much too hard. He simply looks away however. He hadn't seen his mentor since that morning and wonders where she may have gone off to. Probably chasing after her brother... Sighing soundlessly, his eyes shift to Gingerpaw looking up to their leader as though everything would be fine. Mouse brain. He keeps from hissing and turns his head back to the she cat. His ear twitches at her mention of naming the new deputy and glances around in curiosity.

Badgerlily looks around at the cats that soon follow and take their seats all around. She takes in a slow breath hoping that Dreamstar wouldn't regret her choice. All of their fellow clanmates were worthy in their own way. Everyone of them are loyal and prepared to take on the future along side their leader.

Redsage entered the camp, late for the ceremony. She had been...out... What she was doing, she would rather keep to herself. She made her way next to Mistyrose who seemed fixated on the leader. Nightshade was just a few tail lengths in front of her causing her to sigh, but it was time to give up. She waited for Dreamstar's choice and could see her brother twitch in anticipation. If only she knew what was going through his mind.

Dream star looked to stone song who sat in the crowd. "Stone song, will be shimmer clans new deputy." She said, she coughed a little before continuing. "You have proving your self loyal and a good fighter. Always ready to protect the clan you love." She said her weak voice losing its power as she said so. "I realize he has not yet have an apprentice but I ashore you all he will soon have one." She said narrowing her eyes at the cats looks and meows of out burst. "I have said these words before blue fire and I hope she and the rest of star clan agree with my choice." She looked up to the sky. "That is all." She said leapin down from her high rock, as she hit the ground it felt that as if she could not breath but she soon could. She waved her tail to tone song hoping he saw and would soon come to her after he got congratulated.

When she was in side her den and hit the ground with a thuds and her breathing was shallow but she was still awake. She breathed in and out before she let sleep consume her that she desperately needed.

@Flutterby @ShadedRose @DemonKitten @PlaguedWithInsanity

Stonesong sat very still, not even twitching a whisker as his name was said. He was shocked, completely blindsided by his sudden promotion. But he didnt let it show, he simply raised his chin and gazed up at his leader dutifully until she finished speaking.

Wildsong, of course, could barely contain herself. As soon as her brother's name was called, her head snapped to the side to look at him. Then, realizing Dreamstar wasnt done, she snapped it back to attention. At last, Dreastar was finished, and Wildsong loudly proclaimed her brother's name, rubbing against him firmly in congratulations.

Briarpaw's tail lashed from side to side. He watched and listened carefully up til the new deputy was finally pronounced. 'Stonesong? Huh.' He hadn't thought about the cat as deputy but stands nevertheless once everything's done and heads away from all the cheers of excitement. He wasn't interested in any of it. Gingerpaw, on the other paw, jumped up and down excitedly cheering for their new deputy. He is certain that Stonesong will do them all proud. "Stonesong, Stonesong!" The apprentice cheered though out the corner of his eye he catches sight of Badgerlily looking somewhat upset. The thought was quickly dismissed however upon looking over. Her eyes remained clear and a quiet pur could be heard. This was nothing like the chaos going on behind her walls. 'Stonesong?! He hasn't even been a mentor!' She was hissing to herself and as soon as the cheers quieted down a little, she stands to leave. She needed to be away for just a few minutes. Something in her was triggered and by the time she makes it out of camp she's completely livid. She had always wanted to be appointed deputy and being the same age as Stonesong helps nothing. She takes in a deep breath once further into their territory and decides to go ahead and patrol the borders...again, she was already out and about anyway.

"You are loyal to this clan despite who rules it." She whispers to herself while trying to relax. Her claws digging into the softer soil when reaching the fishing hole, she looks down before lashing out, slicing two fish from the water and throwing them back onto the bank. Easy kills to say the least.

Dream star was asleep in her den, her ears twitched as she awoke in a clearing. She looked around and saw cats with sparkling pelts some shining more than others. She stood there until a cat walked out of the group of cats. "Dream star," said a voice. "I am aware you have appointed a new deputy that has NOT had an apprentice." He said his green eyes narrowing. "You know that it is star clan will and the warrior code that the new to be leader or if to be leader, when being deputy they must have mentored a cat." He said staring at her, dream star held her ground and puffed out her chest. "I know this, and I am we'll aware of it as we'll. but who else would have been worthy he is loyal and prepared to die for his clan protecting it." She said looking at the cat but before he could say more she awoke with a jump.

"Oh man what have I done, I angered star clan." She muttered to her self as she stood up and padded out of her den, her once lit less eyes shown as she walked past the group of cats. "I'm leaving you in charge while I'm gone, Stone song." She said not even looking at the Tom as she past him. She darted out of the camp entrance.

Dream star ran through the forest as fast as her scrawny hungry body could go. She was panting a storm as she ran, she needed to be alone and collect her thoughts, when she got back she would need to go talk with star clan. She was so deep in thought she didn't see the stream in front of her and she slipped in letting out a yelp.

Sorry it sucks))

Splash.

Badgerlily's head shot up from where it was staring down into the water. She had been lost in the stream and therefor had not heard the approaching paw steps. Turning her head to see where the ripples reach the surface, she bolts down stream before diving in. There had been no time to think it over or be logical. She opens her eyes once down in it and glances all around searching the bottom and then looking in the direction the stream flows. Oh my Star Clan! Spotting Dreamstar causes her heart to freeze but body to keep moving. She has to get the she cat and then get out before she passes out. Kicking her legs as hard as she can, a bubble of air forms around her face giving her enough oxygen to stay under water longer.

Finally after fighting through the water, she makes it to her clan leader and grabs her by the scruff. The bubble disappears then and Badgerlily is left to pull them both out and onto the shore. Her heart beats fast out of exhaustion before leaning over Dreamstar and quickly leans down to hear her heartbeat. "Dreamstar, hang on..I'll go and get Maplehollow!" She tells her leader though stops knowing better than to just abandon her. "Hold on." The she cat stands up straight and pushes lightly onto the other's side forcing any and all unnecessary water from her lungs. After doing this she steps back waiting cautiously for the cat to breath in.

(Jinx's post makes it a new day)

Maplehollow was in her den organizing her herbs in glee. Silverpaw's return had done wonders for the medicine cat and now she looked as if she was her old self again. "Silverpaw," She called to the she-cat. "Shall we go gather herbs today? There are a few things I want to get for Dreamstar, perhaps it will make her feel better," she meowed with an ending sigh. Though Maplehollow was feeling better, it seemed their leader would never recover from her tragic leadership. At least she has a deputy to assist her, Maplehollow thought.

@Flutterby

Redsage stretched as she went to gather her apprentice for an assessment today. It seemed the tom believed in his abilities quite a bit so she thought she would test his hunting abilities today and perhaps his fighting abilities tomorrow. "Briarpaw." the red she-cat called with a slight yawn. "How about a hunting assessment today?" she asked the tom as she gave one last stretch.

@ShadedRose

Nightshade had already been out hunting this morning as he carried back a couple voles, leaving a bird he had caught behind. I guess I should get Gingerpaw, he grumbled not enjoying how the tom reminded him too much of his sister. He dropped the freshkill in the pile and noticed that Redsage was already in the apprentice den probably getting her own apprentice. As petty as it is, I will wait until she is gone, He meowed as he grabbed some breakfast for himself. I'll send the apprentice on a tracking hunt for that bird I left to see how his senses have developed, he though cleverly and bit into his mouse.

Silverpaw stretched as she climbed out of her nest. Sleeping in the familiar moss had left her feeling rested and at home. She treated her paws again carefully, wincing at the soreness. In a few days, they would be good as new, but in the meantime they were still little sensitive. At the sound of Maplehollow's voice, she pricked her ears. "Of course!" She called, standing and licking her chest a few times. "Im going to grab a bite first." She said, trotting out of the den happily. a few cats in the clearing stopped and stared- apparently news of her return hadnt spread through the camp completely yet.

Wildsong and Stonesong were standing near the entrance of the camp, Wildsong listening attentively as Stonesong organized the rest of the day's patrols. He was concise and smart, trying to assign each cat to what they did best.
