Fantasy Shadowside: The war of light and dark

John turned to her, he wore the mark of one of the noble Angel families, the Dragon Blade, filled with pure Light. "Ah, an Angel? What are you doing, slacking off while on patrol?" his face sinister.

Ariel didn't react to his taunting, you can't kill him, she thought to herself, so do your job. "No," she said calmly, taking out her sword and hearing it buzz faintly with light energy. "I think a better question is, what are you doing here? Killing people? Stealing their things? What happened, did you get left behind by your little shadowside friends?"

John let out a little laugh, "No" He lifted his sword and slammed it into the ground "I'm here to save the lives you and your precious Empire can't, that there" he pointed to the dead Raider, "He is a Raider, he is evil, I exterminate Evil"

Ariel looked at him incredulously, "There just something that's keeping me from believing that..." She said, trailing off as if trying to figure out what that something was, "oh, it's the fact that your a shadowside. Why would you get rid of evil when that's what you are?"

John began laughing almost uncontrollably. He suddenly stopped, he lifted his head and looked her in the eyes, "We are not Evil, it is the holy Arch Angels that are Evil" memories started to come back to him, bits of why he died and who killed him, who he really was. "Just because you are told something doesn't make it true, Dark is far from Evil, it is those who discriminate, people like you and the Arch Angels!"

"You strayed from the correct path." She said, "whatever happened to you was a consequence of that, and your own fault." And she completely believed in what she was saying. "Now I'll ask you one more time, you need to come with me. You can come peacefully, or you can fight me. It's your choice."

"I remember who I was" He grinned, "I remember what Killed me and why". "According to your records I've been dead for the past 3 to 4 weeks, an Angel of Nobility killed in a tragic cross fire between the Light and the Dark. I remember hearing of it, oh how the people mourned the Head of the House of Hawk, with no body found and with no evidence to say otherwise"

"Obviously, whatever you did was bad enough for them to want to cover it up." Ariel countered. This was getting tedious, it was taking way to long and needed to move along. She had other thing to do than this. "Maybe you she be honored, they chose to make you look like a kind of hero, instead of making an example out of you and exposing you as a monster."

"They made me look like a coward, I saved innocents, made friends and helped the Dark because of what I discovered about the Arch Angels, that is why 'They', the Arch Angels murdered me, it was the good deeds I had done that saved me" His wings appeared, "I'm all for serving the Good, I despise all Evil, and I always have"

Fane had to slip away since so many still needed help. He was getting exhausted. Well this was more consuming then I thought it would be.... Light shot into the sky and caught his attention. He went to where it had originated and saw two people talking. He tried to listen in and it sounded more like arguing.

Fane stayed back and continued to observe since he didn't know if one or the other might be trouble.

"Either way, you must come with me. The council will decide your fate." She said. Ariel still didn't believe him, and even if the arch angels did do that, it was for a good reason.

"I refuse, I will not go to your corrupt council, now if you don't mind me I'm going to check for any survivors and save them, a job you should be doing" He lifted his sword out of the ground and sheathed it, "The Light cannot exist without the Dark because it will have no reason for existence but the Dark can exist without the Light for their existence is not the corrupt and destroy it's other half" John turned around, "I will not be murdered in cold blood again by those worthless pidgins"

So although one is an angel, what is the other? They look ready to fight judging by thier body posture. Then John turned his back and was going to walk away. Fane raised his left hand and it started glowing yellow. He was preparing Shield of Energy to stop any conflict before it started. He watched the angel carefully, ready to intervene.

Ariel frowned, looks like this will be a fight, she thought. She started to approach the shadowsider, folding her wings carefully against her back. She started to approach more quickly, figuring that if she could knock him unconscious, then it would be much easier and much quicker. And he wouldn't put up a fight when she took him to the council.

Fane jumped forward and put his left hand out. A thin, translucent, yellow wall came between John and Ariel. He kept his hand up and got closer so they could hear properly, "Ma'am are you not of the Glorious Light Empire like myself? If so then why would you attack this man even if he is part of the Shadowside Alliance?" He stood there looking at the angel with a straight face and waiting for a response.

Ariel looked at the man who had put up the wall. "Because it's what I must do. We do not know who was responsible for these raids, but it was likely the shadow side, so I must take him in for questioning." she told him. "Now, remove this wall, or you will be obstructing the work of the angels. And there will be consequences." She added the last part, just for good measure.

"Ah, someone of Dragon Kin? The Empire made me slaughter some of your people, nevermore" John could sense the strange person by gripping his blade, he began to take flight, he turned to them "I wish not for a fight because I can obviously see you are trying to be good, and I only kill Evil"

Fane wasn't sure how to take the news of his people being killed. He resented them but they were still part of him. He lowered his left hand and the wall disappeared, but the magic still glowed yellow on his hand. "See now, he means no harm, angel. You can leave him be right?"

Soon enough Luna awoke in a tent Deep in the Darkwoods. groaning she looks around "What a dream..." she says groggily before seeing she was a tent. quickly investigating she found her skin tan and hair black. feeling extra teeth in her mouth she looks in a basin and sees the face of a werewolf in human form. her face. she had become a child of the beast god and goddess of passion. a werewolf.

Ariel watched as the shadowsider flew away, but she doubted that that was the last she would see of him. "For now, yes." She said looking back to the new guy. "But next time I see him I cannot promise that." This one seemed to be on my side, meaning a member if the empire. "It's... Noble of you to want to save him, but I don't believe the shadowside are worth saving." She told him.

"Fair enough. Also I only assumed since you are an angel, you are sided with the Light. Would you be able to give a good enough reason why both sides hate each other? Most people give me answers of past happenings, these answers do not seem valid to me. Have we not lived in peace for some time now?" Fane said this while smiling since he now knew she was someome with honor and respect. He let the yellow magic disperse completely from his hand and relaxed.

Ariel thought about what he asked but when it came down to it, she didn't really have an answer. At least not one that didn't involve the events of the past. But she decided to give a kind of answer anyways. "I suppose it's the natural order of things. The dark and the light are not supposed to like each other, and as a soldier of the light... My job is to fight the dark." She rationalized. "The first thing I ever learned was that the shadowside was the enemy and must be eliminated. Peace for a time doesn't mean anything, if the shadowside can be eliminated, then there can be permanent peace."

"Well I admit that is a better answer than everyone else. However, I still think we can coexist. Light and dark exist naturally together, just because they are not sentient like us doesn't make it any different." Fane stopped and thought for a second, "No matter what happens in the future, the present danger of the raiders needs to be solved. I think I'll be heading back home now, if you should need assistance just search for Fane Jumal. I'm a hand for hire, mercenary, or whatever you really want to call that job."

"And should you ever require the presence of an angel, I am known by the name Ariel." She told him, "And hopefully whatever is going on can be resolved soon." She stretched out her wings and prepared to take to the skies, she should get back and inform one of her superiors what happened here. "I hope to see you again, Fane Jumal, and I hope under better circumstances."

"I hope so too. Farewell, Ariel." Fane turned and headed back towards his home. He hoped no one would need help as he was barely able to put up that wall earlier. He trudged on and tried to figure out who was behind all this madness.
