Seeking another long-term RP partner for original settings

No problem, take your time hashing it out. I'm just going to make an effort to respond to another RP I'm participating in within the next hour and then I'll probably head out for tonight, so no rush if you don't feel like knocking it out this evening.

Cool, nice to hear. No need to reveal everything to me now if you'd prefer to keep reveal certain aspects during the RP. Would you like to try and get things rolling at some point over the next few days?

Hi!

If you're still open and accepting, I was wondering if you and I could work something out? I would send you a PM myself but I am under new member restrictions for a bit, so when you have the time and are interested, would you be so kind as to send me a PM?

No sweat if you aren't available to kick it off right off the bat with a lengthy reply exchange session, but we could probably start putting everything into position, at the very least.

And hi, @SpecialK. My hands are a little full currently in that I'm trying to kick off a few different RPs right now, but I am actively seeking a fuller rotation of regular players, so if you're willing to be a little patient with me at first regarding time and mental effort constraints, I would be glad to talk over some ideas with you.

I am a dystopia fan who for many, many years have read and written within the genre, and you seem really cool! One dystopic, sociopolitical commentary could would be really cool to set up in both a post apocalyptic or a cyber-industrial punk world!

I am a detailed "grown up" who likes deep character development and hate the mundane, run of the mill character.

Thanks for your interest. Cyberpunk dystopias are definitely a topic of interest for me and I'd be willing to kick around some ideas with someone else who can dig the subject matter. As you might have observed, I'm in the process of kicking off a few different RPs and my time might be a little limited for the immediate future, but I've only got 1 proper active RP at the moment, so I'm definitely looking to meet some new players who have a similar mindset. At the very least, I should be able to find the time to kick around some ideas if you're willing to be patient with any potential slowness on my end.

Absoloutly! Send me a pm when you are ready and got the time!

Hey, @Ilani the Archer. Just wanted to say that I wrote up some simple tables for minor encounters and adventures. No need to follow them to the letter if you have an idea for an adventure or encounter of your own, but they could prove handy if we're drawing a blank but still want to shake things up a bit. The results with multiple options are meant to provide a little bit of choice.

Wha

1: Slay enemy

2: Solve mystery

3: Acquire something

4: Prevent something

5: Negotiation/Bargain

6: Protection/Rescue

Where

1: Village/City/Outpost

2: Cave/Tomb/Dungeon

3: Forest/Mountains/Field

4: River/Lake/Seaside

5: Palace/Temple/Castle

6: Road/Path/Trail

Complication

1: New/Old Enemy

2: Trap/Curse/Spell

3: Need item(s)/Information/Person

4: Perilous environment/Obstacle

5: Puzzle/Labyrinth

6: Deception/Conspiracy

Minor encounters

1: Merchant/Caravan/Performer

2: Officials/Aristocrats/Guards

3: Local(s)/Outlander(s)

4: Acquaintance/Friend/Enemy

5: Scoundrel(s)

6: Battle!
I believe I'm about ready to start, but there are a few details we should probably sort out before we start:

- Name of the world/country/starting area

- Any distinctive dialect or prose that might be used in the RP

- The dragon's name

- The scene/time/tone of the intro scene

So just let me know if you have any preferences or ideas regarding these aspects and if we're both ready then I can have the thread up before the weekend at least.

The name of the world we should probably work together on. Lil is going to have a cockney accent (I'll try to stay consant with that), I have a few ideas for the name of the dragon, and as for the last one I have no idea

Alright, sounds good on the accent. No sweat if it presents challenges during a scene or two. I probably won't give Hauki any kind of accent that's outside of my normal repretoire, but I'll play up the educated and socially isolated aspects of his personality in his dialog and avoid any modern terminology or phrases. We can also experiment with NPC dialects if we want to mix things up a bit.

I'll brainstorm some name ideas for the world, region, and dragon and try to post back in a few hours. Some ideas there may stick out, but feel free to tweak or provide any suggestions or variations on my ideas or bring some of your own.

And if we want to go with a relatively open intro, it could just start with Hauki leaving his master's lair (I'm thinking some kind of tower) to go find Lil and tell her that he hasn't returned. All that would really require is Hauki somehow knowing where to find her (maybe she told him in a letter or something). I'm fine with the intro just being a relatively simple bit of exposition and not a big dramatic sticking point unless you can think of something you'd like to do.

Alright then, I could run with that idea. I think it would present a good compromise between having them know each other reasonably well, but still not exactly being day-to-day peers due to different life circumstances.

I cranked out a few name ideas real quick as well. Even if we're not totally feeling one of these, they might provide a starting point and some names to refer back to for NPCs and locations and such.

Dragon

Terotomar

Thelharaan

Heldreth

I like Karult for the dragon. Easy to remember/spell.

Scios sounds good for the country.

Aramore sounds like a riverside city. Troutport, Pearlshaw and Adderfield sound like fishing towns on the coast. So mabye one of those?

Cool, I would be willing to run with those names if you like them. And yeah, a port city could be a good place to start because it's a relatively metropolitan area for the setting where we can have many different kinds of people while still making it feel plausible. I suppose it's a question of whether you want to start with a a big, bustling port city, or a smaller and more pastoral seaside village.

[QUOTE="Ilani the Archer]Let's do a port city. Lil is more likely to be there

Okay then. I believe that's most of the details we'll need to get started. So unless any last minute details come up, I should be able to cook up an intro post hopefully within a day or so and have the thread up.

@Ilani the Archer

I've got an intro post just about ready to go. Just wondering, do you have any ideas or preferences for the name of the thread?

My intro post is about 1,200 words and to be honest, I feel like it's kind of clumsy since I'm trying to do a little character building along with getting the exposition out there. But I think it's very serviceable in terms of getting us in a position where we'll be ready to start doing things together without a ton of expository replies. Feel free to handle your intro however you feel is appropriate, though.

Oh yeah, not sure if it goes without saying, but I obviously expect that my average post length will be much shorter for this RP. Since this is a dice-based game, I imagine we will fluctuate between varying degrees of detail when dramatically appropriate.

No, I don't really care about the name of the thread.

I am a more of a casual writer myself so the shorter pist lengths will be fine.

@Ilani the Archer

Alright, got a thread running here. I'll edit in the rules and character sheets sometime relatively soon, but I'm going to take a little break for now.

Also I changed the name of my character's master since the old one was kind of close to the name we're using for the dragon. Not really a big deal one way or another.
