Despite their not-so-silent feud, Duncan wasn’t surprised that Aiden followed him outside. They had similar thoughts about the car. As Duncan started working on the tires, he casually remarked, “I didn’t think anyone was going to make a big fuss about our hunger. Kinda glad you did, even if it led to me butchering the tires on this baby.” With a grin, he muttered, “Not that I’m ever that hungry, what with my constant companionship…”

After that, he was silent. At least, until he heard the window break.

If it was his window…

Duncan had to see what was happening, so he stood and ran around the side of the house to see the carnage. And there was a lot of it. Stopping next to the girl’s bloody and scratched up hand, he glanced at Teddy. “This is a shitstorm, right? Do we at least get to suck the life out of her?”

Nate could not take care of it. After some indistinguishable murmurs, there was a slam, and Zach stared up at the window again. Was… was that newb attacking the girl? Well, that wasn’t fair! How come he got to drink her blood, and he and the others didn’t have a crack at her? That bastard!

He soon regretted this anger (for once) as the girl crashed through the window, glass and all, and landed, hard, on the ground next to him. Of course, the glass cut him, too, but he would heal. The girl, however… oh boy. That looked pretty bad.

Any remaining anger Zach had, he now directed to the window above him. “Great job!” he yelled, sarcastic, of course.

It wasn’t long before the others started coming to see what the crashing window was all about. Teddy didn’t say anything, but Duncan, of course, when he came to look at the apparently comatose body, asked if they got to at least drink her blood now. Zach growled, “I’m not drinking that.”

Wait a second. Where was that other girl? Shouldn’t she be here screaming at them?

Yet again, what Bella had predicted might happen, did not happen. Where the hell was her inner Lily right now? Actually, where was Lily right now? Bella had run back inside to save her friend, but it would seem that she was the one who needed saving. Coming face to face with two of the six vampires apparently living in her family home left her spazzy and just plain terrified, but she wasn't about to back down. She needed to find Lily, and maybe smack her for thinking that them separating was a good idea. There was strength in numbers, damn it, not this one on one shit.

The vampire behind the other one spoke first, telling her that they weren't going to hurt her. She scoffed at that, just as the blonde in front nodded. Really? Did they think she was stupid? Did they think-

What the hell was that?

The sound of glass shattering followed by a dull thud made Bella's blood run cold. Her eyes widened, and the shoes fell from her hands as she spun on her bare heel, pushing off from the ground to run outside. She felt as though she were moving in slow motion. The blonde vampire passed her, and though she should have figured out where the other one was, she couldn't bring herself to care.

Lily-

Bella seemed to be the last one to arrive at the scene. The others were all looking something, and Bella froze. Regaining her composure a second later, she shoved through them, spotting her bloodied best friend on the ground. Tears sprung to her eyes as she cried out Lily's name, falling to her knees and reaching for her. She didn't care about the blood that transferred from the other blonde to her. She didn't give a damn that her clothes were ruined, or about the others staring down at them.

Through her tears, she pulled Lily closer to her, trying not to hurt her more in the process. Lifting her head, she focused on the one staring down out of the window. "What have you done?!"

Nate couldn't focus on anything else as he reached for Lily, wanting nothing more than to sink his fangs into her soft flesh and tear it open. The thing about Nate, since he was considered a 'young' vampire, was that he lacked the control that alot of the older vampires had. The longer a vampire lived, the more they could control those base urges that all vampires had. Some of them chose to ignore those urges completely, or they ignored the control. For the latter type of vampires, it usually wasn't long before they were killed by their own kind.

Nate didn't want to die, but he still struggled with those basic urges. Right now he was hungry and he wanted to feed, and Lily was right there... But as with most things in his life, it didn't quite go as planned. One minute he was lunging at her, the next, he heard the sound of splintering glass and then she was gone from his arms.

He'd tried, damn it.

He'd tried to grab her.

Maybe not to save her, he realized later. He'd wanted to grab her to feed. But when he felt himself going further than he should have, his vampiric mind sped up to realize that she was falling. He'd grabbed for her then, too, but it was too late. Peering down at the terrible, awful sight before him, he didn't know what to do. When Bella shrieked up at him, he withdrew into the window.

Knowing he couldn't hide forever, he jumped from the window to the area down below, landing carefully on his feet. "I'm so sorry." He whispered, his voice cracking and breaking as he spoke. "I didn't mean to..."

Aiden smirked at Duncan's comment, giving the other vampire a slight eyeroll that he wasn't sure if the other would even see. "Someone had to say it. There hasn't been anyone here, living here, for us to feed off of in forever. Not to mention there's fucking six of us. We always have to fucking share, and I'm sick of it." He couldn't hide the bitterness from his voice as he leaned into the drivers side, popping the hood. Waltzing around to the hood to pop it, he started fiddling with the wires inside.

"You could have said something, too. I know you feel the same way. Teddy can't back down to us if we all take a stand-" A semi distant shattering and crash shut him up quicker than he'd ever stopped talking before. Lifting his head, he looked in Duncan's direction first. When he saw the serious look on the other playboy vampires face, his suspicions were confirmed.

Something bad had happened.

"Fuck." He followed the other vampire to the scene, looking down at the blonde who'd fallen from the window. At Duncan's question, he looked over at him, resisting the urge to punch the shirtless vampire. "Duncan, you fucking moron. There's barely enough blood left in her for one of us, and there's no way you're the only one who gets to eat."

The other girl appeared then, shoving past them to get to her friend. It was an uncomfortable scene to watch, honestly. Grimacing, he glanced over at Teddy, hating himself for doing so. But it wasn't like he knew what to do. Crossing his arms, Aiden tried to appear uninterested, even as Nate appeared. "Someone could give her blood."

Sam wanted to comfort the girl. After all, despite the fact that they were vampires and had to feed, it would be a much smoother process if the girls were comfortable with the situation. They were here, now, and wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. Teddy would explain that to them, Sam hoped, sooner rather than later. But of course, both girls had to be alive as well, and when he heard the thud from outside Sam couldn't help but assume the worst.

He followed the others outside, closing his eyes for a second as he spotted the girl on the ground. "Shit." The curse was mumbled, but when he opened his eyes, Bella was already there. Duncan was trying to finish the other girl, Lily, off. Aiden was complaining about Duncan, and Zachary was stating that he wasn't feeding from the almost dead girl. "Jesus."

But then Aiden spoke again, and Sam's gaze shifted over to him. "That would save her." He admitted, glancing at Teddy. Would their leader do it? But then, he hadn't been the one to shove the girl out of the window. His gaze shifted to Nate as he appeared, teary-eyed and apologetic. Without missing a beat, Sam nodded. "Aiden isn't far from a solution, for once."

Looking back at the girls, Sam took a step forward. "Bella, we can save your friend. But we need you to say the okay first."

It seemed like only seconds had passed since she’d lost consciousness, but it must’ve been at least a few minutes, as she heard all sorts of voices arguing around her. Then she felt her head move, though not of her own accord, onto something not-ground-like, so needless to say, she was a bit confused. Her eyelids fluttered a little bit, and after some struggling, she managed to open her eyes to see Bella above her, glaring at the vampires around them with tears in her eyes.

They were… talking about saving her? And it involved blood? (Well, of course it did, these were vampires, so duh!)

“Why not… ask me…?” she croaked, glaring weakly at Sam, who’d spoken last. “One of you… just save me… already…” Then she winced, finally registering exactly how much pain she was in. Damn, she’d really screwed herself over on this one, hadn’t she? Bella was probably going to kill her after she didn’t die.

“I don’t care who… just do the thing… you dumbasses…”

Although the tension in the air could’ve used some dissipating, Duncan’s arrival and question about “sucking the life” out of Lily couldn’t have had worse timing. Thankfully, Aiden was right behind him, and although the way he scolded Duncan still talked about feeding from her, at least it veered the conversation away… sort of?

At least, when Aiden mentioned one of them could give Lily blood. Sam confirmed that that could indeed save her, but the question was, who would do it? Zach clearly wasn’t going to do it, and Duncan probably wouldn’t. Teddy finally looked at Nate, he said, “It’s going to have to be you, Nate. You’re the one who caused this, so you should fix it. Of course, it will come with some… side effects… and some other things I’ll have to tell you about.” He sighed. “But it will save her, although she’ll have to stay here afterwards.”

Crossing his arms and staring up at the sky, he muttered, “At least one of us will never have to go hungry again.”

It was too bad Aiden had to go and be all logical. He was right, though—there wasn’t enough blood left in the girl for any of them to sate their hunger. Even with Zach refusing to drink from her in this state, there would barely be a mouthful for each of them.

Nate was apologizing profusely, Aiden was suggesting one of them give the girl blood to save her, and Sam was wondering who should do it. Teddy, being all leader-y (thank God it wasn’t him—so much work involved), told Nate he should do it, and frankly, he agreed. Of course, knowing exactly what Teddy meant by “side effects,” he grinned wickedly at Nate and said, “Lucky bastard.” Then, glancing at the other girl—the not injured one—he said, “She’ll be fine, but Teddy’s right; she’ll have to stay here with us. And you’re not exactly allowed to leave, either. Besides, Aiden and I messed up your car, sooooooooo….” he trailed off, standing up to stand beside Aiden.

This day had certainly taken an unexpected turn.

But hey, now they would probably have a constant blood source, right? ~~One could dream.~~

The other girl finally showed up, but she mostly yelled at Nate, who kinda deserved it. Then Aiden and Sam came out, both of them suggesting something along the lines of giving the girl blood so that she would survive. But did they really want that? Wouldn’t she try to escape again, and tell the nearest town about them? Then again, it didn’t really seem like she capable of something like that—revealing their existence, that is. After all, she was the one who hadn’t been surprised by it.

But that probably meant nothing.

Finally, Teddy told Nate to give the girl blood while the others reassured the other girl that she would be fine. He scoffed, not really sure what all the fuss about their blood shortage was about. “If you’re all so goddamn hungry, just go to town and attack someone. It’s that simple. Humans never figure it out.”

Still, what would giving a mortal vampire blood do to her? What were they all hiding?

Very quickly, this house was turning into a nightmare. Not only had they arrived to find SIX VAMPIRES, but now Lily was on the verge of death. Bella pulled Lily closer to her, the sobs wreaking her body at the thought of losing her very best friend. Separating had been a stupid idea, and if Lily lived through this, she was going to give her SUCH a talking to! Sniffing, Bella looked down to see that Lily's eyes were fluttering open. Though they were unfocused at first, Bella could tell the instant she recognized her.

"Lily!" Bella bit her lip, laughing some through her tears at her friends comment. Who else in the world would be on their deathbed, and calling the vampires surrounding them dumbasses? The tall blonde one spoke, directing his words at Nate, the one who'd jumped out of the window. It was his fault, apparently, so he had to be the one to save her.

Although he mentioned some side effects, and that made Bella shift some, looking in his direction. "What are the side effects?" She questioned, looking around at the rest of the vampires. Some looked almost guilty, some annoyed, and even one of them looked bored. But none of them spoke up to answer her question.

Nate knew he'd fucked up. He could see the look of disappointment on Teddy's face, though he tried to ignore it. Duncan and Aiden were being retarded as usual, and Zach didn't look like he knew what was going on. Sam, ever the calm and collected one, stepped towards teh girls and told Bella they needed her okay to save her friend.

But then Lily actually woke up, and Nate felt a surge of relief wash over him. That is, until it became clear that she wasn't going to be okay on her own, and Teddy looked at Nate to heal her. He shrank back from everyones scrutiny; he'd never been good in the spotlight. "I..." His gaze shifted from Teddy back to the girls, and then back. "I..."

Bella needed to know the side effects, but Nate knew that if he didn't act soon it wouldn't matter. Slowly, he approached the pair, holding up his hands as he sank to his knees beside them. Lifting his wrist to his mouth, he hesitated only a second before tearing the soft skin there. He looked at Bella, and then lowered the bleeding wrist to Lily's mouth so she could drink.

Pretty proud of himself for voicing the solution (and having that pointed out to the others), Aiden crossed his arms over his chest and grinned smugly at Duncan and the others. He surely wasn't going to give her blood. Aiden knew there were side effects of feeding a human vampire blood, but he wasn't sure what they were, and he didn't want to find out.

"I agree. Nate should do it." He shrugged and took a step away from the bloody scene, watching at Nate stepped forward to do what he had to do. Wrinkling his nose slightly, he tilted his head, interested nonetheless. Vampire blood would save her, for sure. And Teddy had mentioned that she would have to stay here.

Turning to face Teddy, Aiden made sure to catch his attention. "So she'll have to stay here... forever?" He asked, just at Nate lowered his wrist to Lily's mouth. "And what do you mean, one of us won't go hungry?" Taking a few steps in Teddy's direction, Aiden tilted his head. "Are you telling me only he will get to feed from her now? What about the other one? Five of us can't share one human..."

Grateful that Nate agreed to be the one to save her, Sam kept quiet as he started towards the girls. Just observing as Nate moved slowly, not wanting to startle Bella, he bit his wrist and lowered the bloody thing to Lily's lips. And then he heard Aiden speaking from somewhere behind him, and Sam groaned inwardly. Leave it to him to fuck the moment up. He saw Bella's head snap up and jerk in their direction.

"We'll explain it all to you, I promise." Sam tried to reassure her, though he saw the anger flash in her eyes. "There are side effects, yes, but if Nate didn't feed her his blood then she would die and none of it would matter." She didn't move, probably wanting to stay by her friend, but he could see the anger and other emotions in her gaze. Fear, surprise, confusion... He understood how she felt. Or rather, he empathized.

"For now, just make sure she's alright." He nodded towards Lily, who as of yet, hadn't started drinking the blood. She didn't need much; just a touch.

Lily was starting to lose consciousness again, but she did catch the part about "side effects." Thankfully, Bella was on top of it and demanded to know what they meant by that. She wasn't able to hear the answer, however, because there was something in front of her mouth.

Ah. This must be the blood. She didn't think this was going to happen while she was still conscious, but she wasn't about to complain... after all, her life was on the line. So she took a sip of the blood, but since it kept flowing, she kinda kept drinking it... why was this stuff so awful? Like, seriously, what the hell?

She didn't have long to think about it, because then she drifted off into sleepy time once again...

It was to be expected, of course, that very few of the group knew of the process Teddy was thinking of. Duncan wasn't nearly as old as he, but he knew - Teddy had no idea how, maybe the one who'd turned him had mentioned it - and of course Sam knew. The others, however, did not. That didn't stop Nate from stepping up to save the girl he was responsible for injuring.

Bella was a little less receptive. She demanded answers about the side effects he'd mentioned, and Aiden stepped in to ask about them, too, especially about the feeding.

Oh, he needed a drink or something...

With a glance at Duncan and Sam, he pinched the bridge of his nose. "By giving her his blood, Nate is binding his soul to Lily's. She'll now be linked to him. It's called a Chalice or some other old term. Basically it means that he's allowed to feed from her whenever he wants because she's his source of blood." With a hard stare at Aiden, he said, "That is what I meant by he'll never go hungry. Any of us can feed from her as well... but only if we have Nate's permission."

With a sigh, he added, "We're not subjecting Bella to our whims. You will not feed from her, even if you can't help yourself. That's how we ended up here." Looking back at Bella again, he finished, "And that is why your friend must stay here. With a vampire's blood coursing through her veins, she can really only be here, with vampires. She's not necessarily immortal, but she will heal a little faster now."

Duncan crossed his arms and barely listened as Teddy explained the parameters of what Nate was doing to save Lily. Aiden was a little too pissed about this all - surely someone like him, who claimed to be the better player, would be able to seduce enough girls, wouldn't he? Geez, it was like they didn't like working for their meals.

As Teddy finished up his explanation to appease Bella and Aiden, Duncan noticed that Lily had drunken Nate's blood and promptly passed out. "Someone better take her inside. It's going to take a little while for Nate's blood to take." Lifting his hands, he grinned. "But I ain't carrying her!"

Bending down so he was at eye-level with Bella, he smirked. "So, want Aiden and I to try and fix the car we broke, or are you gonna stay here and wait for the princess to awake?"

Well, this was just fantastic, wasn't it? These damn chicks were probably going to be here forever, Nate would now be able to drink as much blood as he wanted (and probably accidentally kill the girl again), and why? Because they hadn't just killed the girls the moment they'd walked in! Or erased their memories or whatever!

"Well that's just great!" he muttered once Teddy was done his explanation of this "Chalice" stuff. "How the hell did we get into this mess, anyway? Wouldn't it have been simpler to drive the girls out?"

Duncan said something about carrying the girl inside now that she was unconscious, and he growled, "You do it, Nate. I don't care enough to not drop her." Glaring at Bella, he added, "If you're staying, do yourself a favor and stay out of my way. Then you won't end up like your friend."

And with that, he stormed away.

There was no time for the tall blonde vampire to fully explain the side effects for Bella to make the decision whether or not to allow Nate to feed his blood to Lily. With her lips pursed and her eyes watching him like a hawk, Bella allowed Nate to kneel down beside her and her fallen friend. She appreciated how he looked at her first, as though questioning whether it was okay. She didn't say yes or no, but she did allow him to lower his bitten wrist to Lily's mouth.

Wrinkling her nose slightly, Bella watched the process for a moment until she heard Theodore talking. Turning her head to look at him, she couldn't tell if he was just uncomfortable talking about the side effects or if he would just rather be elsewhere. Anywhere else. Or perhaps a combination of both... She spent more time mulling over that than she should have, and almost missed the effects themselves.

When she looked back down at Lily, Nate had moved his wrist away from her mouth and she'd seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep. Someone mentioned how she should be taken inside, but Bella was still iffy about being separated from her. Sensing a presence to her side, she jerked her head in that direction to find Duncan at eye level with her.

Immediately, she narrowed her eyes at him. "You can back up, first of all." Her eyes darted in the direction of the car, then landed back on Duncan. "Fix the car. That way when I find out a way to take Lily with me, we can leave."

Nate didn't miss that Bella hadn't actually given him permission to give Lily his blood, but she hadn't denied him, either. Taking that as a yes, he lowered his bleeding wrist to Lily's mouth, where she started to drink. At first, the only way he could describe the sensation was to say it tickled. But the more she drank, the more his blood actually started flowing. He'd never shared blood with a human before, and the feeling was incredible.

Very quickly, the tickling sensation disappeared, replaced with something much more intimate. He could feel his cheeks burning, knowing the eyes of the others were most likely on him and Lily. Probably moreso the latter, but still, he was involved and he hated being the center of attention, especially with a feeling like that coursing through his veins.

His lips parted and he could hear himself breathing heavily. Thankfully, no one seemed to notice, and when his blood started trickling down Lily's face he realized she wasn't drinking anymore. She was asleep. Quickly he moved his wrist away and tried to wipe the blood away as best he could, though really he just ended up smearing it.

Hearing Duncan over his shoulder, he tensed, turning his head just enough to see Bella glaring at him. Duncan, that is. "I'll take her inside."

Aiden could do little more than stare at Teddy during the older vampire's explanation. He didn't miss Teddy's direct comment at him, either, about how he wouldn't feed from her because that's how they got into this mess in the first place. Also, needing Nate's permission to feed from her? That was not going to happen. Nate didn't control who fed from who, no matter if he saved her life or not. Scoffing, he turned away from Teddy, not bothering to disguise an eye roll.

Crossing his arms, he watched as Zachary stalked off. "God, is he ever not in a bad mood? I can't." Nate had finished feeding the girl his blood, and was failing at trying to wipe it off. Duncan was in Bella's face, and Aiden found himself hoping that she slapped him. Nate's offer to take her inside was quiet, but of course he heard it. So he still wanted to play Prince Charming, eh? Two could play at that game.

Swooping in on Bella's other side, he carefully- but quickly- scooped the sleeping Lily into his arms. Winking at Bella when her head whipped in his direction, he started off towards the house. "I don't think she'll be able to leave, but you're welcome to try and figure something out. In the meantime, I'll make sure Lily has a comfortable bed to wake up in." Whistling jauntily, he disappeared inside.

Sam kept quiet, sensing the tension in the air. Though it mostly stemmed from Bella, she wasn't the only one to be feeling on edge. He didn't seem to need to explain to her that Lily wouldn't be able to leave, as Aiden took care of that on his way inside the house with Lily. "Make sure you go to the spare bedroom, Aiden." Sam called in after him, hearing the chuckle in response. Zachary had already stalked away, which wasn't unusual for him.

"Duncan, I'd move out of her way before you get hit." Sam commented casually, starting inside after Aiden. "Come on, Nate. We can make sure Aiden doesn't make a fool of himself." Though he didn't look back, he heard the younger vampire scurrying to his feet and then starting after him. Hearing that Aiden had already made his way upstairs, he glanced back at Nate and shook his head.

"He never listens. Come on." Without warning, he sped off and ended up at Aiden's door just as Aiden rounded the corner. The other vampire didn't seem surprised to see Sam blocking his way, but he did stop walking. "Guest room, Aiden." Sam reminded him, nodding towards the decorated yet vacant room in the opposite direction.

With some hesitation and a dragged out eye roll, Aiden spun on his heel and started for the other bedroom, where he deposited Lily on top of the comforter. "Fine, fine." He muttered, knowing Sam was in the doorway again, Nate right behind him.

Lily had the type of dream that was definitely influenced by something happening outside of it. She was floating on a cloud, but it wasn’t a fluffy cloud; it was actually kind of firm and, for some reason, made her feel really indignant. But when she glanced around, she couldn’t tell where she was. Was she being moved somewhere?

The cloud stopped. And then it was… softer. She rolled onto her side and felt something beneath her hand. When she blinked at it, she realized she was waking up. It was getting a little darker outside, and she was alive. That was certainly something. And, unless she was mistaken, her wounds were healed, because she didn’t feel hurt anymore. Nice.

What wasn’t nice? Three vampire boys standing in the room with her.

“Tell me you three weren’t planning on doing something awful to me in my sleep,” she snapped, reaching up to wipe at her mouth, only to come away with blood. (Well, that was good news, in a way. She hadn’t been drooling in her sleep.) Leveling an even glare at all three boys, she said, “I’m not going to ask what the hell I am now. Frankly, I don’t care. What I do care about is whether you dumbasses have food I can eat anywhere in this goddamn house.”

Pointing at Nate, she added, “Also, now that it appears I’ll be here for a while, I need to know: how are you so adorable?”

Something else occurred to her (and no, it wasn’t the embarrassing state of her question). She pointed at Aiden and growled, “And what the fuck did you do with my rabbit?”

Teddy watched as Aiden whisked Lily away, followed by Sam and Nate, thank goodness. Hearing the tail end of Bella’s response to Duncan, he reminded her, “She can’t leave, not unless you plan on taking Nate with you. Being too far away from him could harm her.”

He sighed, gesturing to the front of the house. “C’mon, Duncan, I’ll help you fix the car. Don’t know why you had to break it in the first place…” He knew why, of course, and a small part of him appreciated how smart he was for doing it, but he couldn’t help but think that this wasn’t going to reflect well on them in Bella’s eyes. Not that she was fond of them to begin with.

Duncan (and possibly Bella, but who knows) followed him back to the car, and as soon as he saw the tires, he groaned. “Duncannnn.” He pointed at the tires, hoping Duncan would take the hint and attempt to fix his handiwork.

Seeing the hood popped, Teddy glanced inside and rubbed his head. “This is far out of my expertise…” He had no idea how cars worked; it wasn’t his time period.

The girl had fire. He’d give her that. Both of them did, but this one, at least, reacted. He held up his hands and stood up, backing away as she asked before grinning down at her. Teddy had to shatter her dreams of leaving with her friend, but he could at least fix her car and possibly convince her he wasn’t so bad to spend time with… in bed.

Rolling his eyes at Teddy being bossy-boss, he followed his comrade around to the front of the house, not even feeling guilty at how much damage he and Aiden had caused. While Teddy approached the hood, Duncan crouched by the tires. “Hope you got some extras of those,” he called to Bella. “At least one of these is fucked up beyond repair.”

Dang, his handiwork was good.

He started fiddling with the tire, not even noticing that Zach had arrived sometime in the interim of their arrival and Teddy not knowing how to fix a car.
