It's a bit early to plan but what do you think about Keishiro and Itsuki working at the same school? Itsuki's only a part-time art teacher's assistant, however, that'd give them another way to interact aside from the wagashi shop.

Well, considering Itsuki's kind of ahead of the game intellectually (meaning, he probably finished university a little sooner), maybe 4 months or so considering his age? Definitely more recent than long. I imagine them being the "eye candy" senseis, so a lot of the students pushed them together to get double the intensity.
