Scarlett nodded, a bit in thought when Adelhein mentioned the reason for why he ended up there, while she might have liked a bit more elaboration perhaps, that could come later possibly.

“It sounds you reason for being here..and political situation back at home has had challenges it’s fair to say.”

“Alternation magecraft doesn’t so far off like you say, as far as end results go in ability at least..I will say that I believe that transformation magic does have its own unique benefits which are different than what alternation magecraft offers..I’m glad that you’re interested just the same.”
She’d give him a bit of a smile.

It was curious to hear Gilgamesh speak so casually about gods of this world and meeting them, she wasn’t exactly sure if that was something one really wanted to do, unless it was Zephyrus bestowing you gift or something, but even that might be for dire reasons..gods didn’t usually get involved directly after all from what Scarlett understood.

Didn’t sound like they’d sparing, fair enough as far as Scarlett was concerned, there were other means to train and frankly she really wasn’t sure how well Aqua would be able to manage herself in a PVP for the time being even if it was training with how she sort of just freaked out even during the exam golem where she knew she couldn’t really be hurt hurt, but there’d be time to improve that.

Scarlett looked around when the area shifted, a bit surprised at first before speaking once more. “Very nice Adelhein..once again I find myself rather impressed. She then saw the tall golem, thankfully not looking quite on the level of the exam one with size and ornamentation but still impressive, a more serious expression took hold as she assumed a battle stance at seeing it.

“Another metallic friend for us to beat up on..got it.”

She hadn’t quite been expecting Adelhein to hurt himself..with the bleeding, but then it became apparent it was for training purposes. Hopefully that might be more up Aqua’s ally for the time being.

“Seeing Demeter’s impressive ability, Scarlett nodded, “Very well then, I will say that I can’t really use my ranged magic and move yet simultaneously, so I’ll be using my battle magic unless there’s some set up where we can get this big guy in my more limited range.” She’d explain clearly for everyone.

With that Scarlett ran up as fire energy came from her fist shortly from when she brought it back to try to strike full force, a steely glint of determination in her eyes, and she’d attempt to strike the golem shortly after the others did their attacks to hopefully take advantage of any would be recoiling from the golem so it’d be less likely to be able to block her out right.

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer

“I’m certainly glad you think so. This space was created for training purposes, allowing to be done without worrying about structural damage.” Adelhein said, looking over his shoulder towards Scarlett with a slight pained expression from his wound. Despite his words, that was going to be the first actual test of the chamber itself and the young magus certainly hoped that things were up to standard. Equally, he was just as glad that the teleportation had gone off without any problem, lest the group end up stuck inside a wall or between floors. That last part, however, he would never admit having been a possibility.

Demeter’s spikes would hit against the mercurial golem’s liquid surface, encountering quite of resistance, but managing to penetrate it shallowly. The metallic skin ended up changing color slightly, thanks to the poison which now mixed with its own composition, darkening it.

The Appraisal of the golem revealed some information about it. To no surprise, it was a [Construct], a carapace given [Core], which ended up doting it with a lower and limited type of consciousness. Quite a few other information were shown as only [????], hinting that the Appraisal had not been of sufficient grade to fully reveal the creature’s information. Two things were clear: the room itself was feeding it mana to keep it functional and its [Function] had changed from [Stand By] to [Engage].

The last bit was shown in practice, as soon as the hulking golem began to move, breaking off the spikes which had been breached its skin. Each running step was accompanied by a loud, echoing thud, as the creature’s visage become larger and larger. It didn’t take long for the golem to manage to cover about 20ft.

Aureus, walking into range for his own magic, attempted to cast his [Granite Punisher]. However, as soon as the mana started to take shape, it fizzled in a loud, buzzing sound as it dissipated into the air in a cloud of faint blue dust. It looked like the elf lacked the high enough concentration [Focus] or the natural talents [Componentless Magic] to physically move and use spells in the same round. Things would have been different if he had teleported or been moved by some exterior force.

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer
6a914243-7f9e-4ca1-bfe4-bef0fdd14499.jpg

The young magus, looking over his shoulder, watched the fizzling with a critical gaze. He was aware that the caster’s movements could end up influencing the success of produced magecraft. “Aureus, try again without moving this time around. Your mana ended up dispersing as soon as you began moving.” His tone held no judgement what-so-ever, only really interested about the results of the first assault.

There was a silver-lining as far as the fizzling was concerned. For now, the golem appeared to ignore the elf, instead charging towards the dryad and covering 10ft of distance.

Its movement was interrupted with Scarlett closing in on it. Her flaming fist hitting and sinking against the mercurial surface, causing a small ripple around on the target area. The burning was quickly extinguished as its liquid surface quickly shifted around.

Metal Golem.png

It seems that now, identifying both Scarlett and Demeter as targets, the construct, siphoning mana from the training chamber, before thrusting its sword forward. The tip of the blade extended, rapidly, with a whip-like quality that resembled some of Adelhein’s magecraft. [Singular attack, line attack, dual targeting (Scarlett, Demeter)]

Artoria
Saber-Alter-5-fixed.png

Artoria had been watching the training from the side-lines, her golden gaze surveying the attack on the golem with a cold, purely analytical and intently gaze, like herself was their instructor. Her pitch-black sword, at some point, had been drawn from the sheath, its tip poking at the reinforced floor, as her gauntlets were resting on top of its pommel. “Good opening. Now, let’s see how you can handle its counter-attack.” The faintest of smiles was present on her lips, breaking her otherwise stoic façade. However, the intense tapping of her armored index betrayed the barely constrained eagerness to join the fray.

Gilgamesh

And, from Adelhein’s side, Gilgamesh observed the training with a wide smile present on her lips, eyes drinking greedily from the impromptu entertainment. It wasn’t exactly of the quality she wanted, but she would get her kicks from wherever she could. She would move behind the young magus, leaning forward and downward, until her face was just beside his own. “What an interesting little group you assembled, Adelhein~” She said in a low and husky tone, lips brushing against the shell of his ear as her narrowing crimson gaze burned intently towards Aqua, who was in front of the pair, testing the blue-haired girl’s concentration, among other things. “Oh yes, I believe I have a reward to give you later…”

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer
6a914243-7f9e-4ca1-bfe4-bef0fdd14499.jpg

The dual, opposing sensations of the cold water around his injured hand and the hot breath against his ear, made a few goosebumps appear on Adelhein’s exposed arm, his concentration also being tested. His eyes focused the best they could on Aqua’s work on his hand, the wound closing ever so slightly, bit-by-bit. The water ended-up gaining a slight pinkish hue, thanks to be blood which was mixed with it. “... good work. Keeping… your concentration is the most difficult part. Even more in high-stress situations. Try to increase your mana flow along the wound.” He advised, accompanying her work.

Golem is:
0ft from Scarlett
0ft from Aureus
50ft from Demeter

Aqua would continue pouring mana into the water than covered both of their hands, her eyes were closed as she tried to put all of her focus into the effort. Hearing Adelhein's encouragement, she pressed more mana into it in hopes it would give her better result. Though, now that she's alone with only Adelhein & Gilgamesh around, maybe its time for her to ask something. She slowly opened her eyes, her pupils were glowing blue as she's still channeling her magic.

"Can I... Can I ask something? D-did you perhaps, got into this, err.... world, through a summoning circle?"

Action:
1) Healing Practice - Magic F, Water Affinity F, Magic School F (Meta Magic: Magic Duration F), Non-lethal F, Medicine F, Empathy F, Focus F - Pour a constant gentle mana to an injury in an attempt to heal it

All that she managed to glean from the construct was that it was, indeed a construct with a core.

That and the fact that it was fairly durable.

"I guess that shouldn't surprise me."

Oh well. It's not like Demeter ever needed that much of an understanding of a foe to fight it. As the construct began to extend its sword, the young fae immediately began to counter. A field of roots would erupt from the ground below Scarlett, Aureus and the construct's feet. Some would rocket towards the machine and attempt to pierce its armored hide once more. Others would strike at its arm and blade in an attempt to deflect its attack. And others would simply rise into the air in the space between Demeter and the construct to act as cover and intercept its attack.

Two more spikes of root would rise just before Demeter, crossed over one another, to work in combination with her initial assault to intercept the long-ranged attack, deflect it, and [counter] the construct.

A tried and true combination attack to begin the battle proper. Aureus and Scarlett would find not a single spike directed towards them; nor would the dryad's assault hinder their movements. Would it be enough to defend against the construct's strength?

They'd find the answer to that question real soon.

Actions (3/3)
1) Cast [Root Eruption] +2 to counter the construct's ranged attack and do some damage. Spell was centered 10ft in front of the construct, 40ft away from Demeter.
2&3) Cast [Root Burst] twice to combo with [Root Eruption] and increase its effectiveness.
Root Eruption- Magic E, Componentless Magic E, Energized E, Magic School E, Deflect (1) E, Indirect E, Blight [Bludgeoning] E, Continuous E, Incurable E, Magic AOE F, Selective Magic F, Magic Range [Metamagic] E- Demeter summons roots spikes from a solid surface to impale foes. These spikes can be summoned from the earth, walls, ceilings or even her own body. Each root is coated in a poison that simultaneously acts as a blood thinner and anti-coagulant; effectively causing a target to hemorrhage an unnatural amount of blood from any wounds taken from this move if not properly treated.- 1 action- 100ft Range- 15ft A.O.E.- 1 post duration- Grade E- 0 post cooldown.

Root Burst- Magic F, Componentless Magic F Energized F, Magic School F, Deflect (1) F, Indirect F, Blight [Bludgeoning] F, Continuous F, Incurable F, Magic Range [Metamagic] F- A weaker variant of Root Eruption lacking area of effect that Demeter can cast up to thrice in rapid succession. Often used in combination with Root Eruption.- 1 action- 30ft Range- 1 post duration- Grade F- 0 post cooldown

Aureus Albion

Aureus winced as the heat of the moment made him lose focus and his energy simply fizzled and bounced back, causing him some pain. He overheard Adelhein's comment, and that got him thinking. It was true. Channeling mana while moving was a difficult task.

With his teacher's advice in mind, Aureus tried again. Taking a deep breath, he clasped his hands, and casted them forward. The mana built with more ease this time around. The elf could even feel some sort of surge within him, strengthening his flowing mana from his feet all the way to his hands.

Once again, with a subtle pulse of energy, pillars of solid rock erupted around the golem. These were aimed at its lower legs, in an attempt to make their opponent lose balance.

As he tried this second go, thoughts of his first adventure resurfaced. In which all he tried turned bad. Earning his companions' apathy and even contempt. Feeling like quite the opposite of now. He had his doubts about rising to the expectations, but at least this battle, much like the previous one, he felt more comfortable in battle.

1 - Aim at construct
2 - Granite Punisher (+Magic Circle)- Transmutation F, Earth Affinity F, Magic AoE F, Magic E, Spell Duration F, Selective Magic F, Alchemy F, Energized E, Magic Targets F, Magic Range F - Within established magical parameters (15 ft aoe, 30 ft range, 1 hour duration, 1 target) of the ability, user creates a surge of transmuted floor into granite beams able to deal blunt damage in/from various directions - Grade E - 0 Post Cooldown

Scarlett was on her feet now, trying her best to survey the field while fighting. She knew full well her abilities had a long way to go if she wanted to become truly strong, and right now she was feeling that there was plenty of room for improvement, even as her blast fist magic struck the construct it didn't do all that much when it could simply rearrange it's structure some to help better adsorb the blow, her fire going out.
So far the most successful had been Demeter with her attack no doubt showing a good deal of power, but even with that the golem was undeterred.

"The design of this golem is impressive!" She'd call out. Unfortunately others had less success with Aureus's magic not moving through him properly due to a lack of focus and component less casting abilities like Demeter had, thankfully he was quickly adjusting with Adelhein's feedback to cast again this time without moving.

Scarlett saw the attack coming, and Demeter's move to try to stop the attack in it's tracks..she had options but had to decid quick she'd eventually decide on her course of action, while a bit of a gamble, even she knew that combindigng their abilities should allow for a possible counter even if their opponent was much stronger than them. So, instead of running around and trying to hit the thing again with her magical fist ability, just like Aureus she'd concentrate without moving and try to go for a Team up

With the two other casters not all that far from her, Scarlett grabbed her gem catalyst and with some quick gesturing of her hands out in front of her as she spoke forth the words, "Crimson Gale...!" and after the combination of the hand gestures and words suddenly a very localized and concentrated crimson reddish purplish fiery blast of hot wind came forth twirling violently blowing against the golem's blade attack.

It was all up to their joint power now..if they'd be successful in their counter or not.

Actions:
1. Crimson Gale - Magic E, Magic range F, Magic Targets F, Fire affinity F, Wind Affinity F to help counter the golem's counter. E Grade, 1 post cooldown.

Artoria
Saber-Alter-5-fixed.png

Artoria, who had been watching the unfolding training exercise with great interest, eventually shifted her attention, curious to how the healing of her Master’s self-inflicted wound was progressing. On that note, she certainly expected Aqua to be thankful for that opportunity, one that had its cost in precious blood.

Her barely-contained eagerness to join the blows against the construct changed, abruptly, to a massive annoyance as she caught the sight of the golden one’s closeness to Adelhein. Gritting her teeth, she growled. “Do you really have to engage in that sort of behavior so openly? That is hardly proper, and you are clearly distracting my Master.” The displeasure in her cold tone was palpable.

Gilgamesh
5ec7067a-593e-480e-be56-b13bb9c3da5b.jpg

In response, Gilgamesh looked over her shoulder with a taunting grin, crimson eyes locked on the golden ones. “If I’m distracting little Adelhein, that is excellent. A magus need to have a steely concentration after all, don’t they? Consider it a special type of training.” A challenge was thrown in the air. The Sumerian King’s logic, albeit twisted to fit her own whims, couldn’t be fully discarded. “Step up your game~” Leaving the corrupted despot with that, her attention shifted to the healing once more.

Fully pressing her golden armor against Adelhein’s back, an eyebrow was raised to Aqua’s question which wasn’t too clear as to who it was directed to. “Very well, I shall satiate your curiosity.” Beginning in a rather haughty tone, she continued. “I was brought to this world, via a summoning circle, thanks to my dear Adelhein here.” Giving a tentative nuzzle against his neck for a moment, she fully disengaged off him, straightened her back once more, taking a single step towards the girl. “You have a certain… glint on you, different from most lowly-mongrels of this world.” Her eyes narrowed, in a wolfish manner, silently urging her to expand on it.

The redoubled effort from Aqua bore excellent fruit in healing the wound. The flesh was mended, blood no more dripping from the cut. No mark remained on the palm of Adelhein’s hand, as if the wound had never taken place to begin with.

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer
6a914243-7f9e-4ca1-bfe4-bef0fdd14499.jpg

Adelhein, who had fainting blush on his cheeks, was glad that the interaction between both his Servants had actually improved, greatly (if one could believe it), ever since Gilgamesh had been summoned. And, seeing the exemplary success of Aqua’s first attempt of healing, there was a moment he was filled with pride with his teachings being so easily absorbed, producing results already. “Excellent work, it seems you are a natural in using healing magecraft. Further practice, honing mana concentration, will allow for faster healing.”

Thoughts, wondering what sort of reward Gilgamesh had planned, made his heartbeat increase a few notches. That was only momentarily, however, as Aqua had posed the question about how he came into that place. “It wasn’t a summoning circle. Rather, it was something much different.” Gently pulling his left hand from Aqua’s grasp, he would put on his glove and fix the sleeve of his coat. “Artoria and my coming here was a by-product of being drenched by the black mud, the contents of the Holy Grail after its destruction. Gilgamesh was summoned later on.”

Gilgamesh
5ec7067a-593e-480e-be56-b13bb9c3da5b.jpg

“Inside a dingy cavern no less, but I suppose it was what was available at the time.” Waving her gauntleted hand dismissively, she had already forgiven the grave slight against her self-perceived grandeur.

One thing that the Sumerian King had mentioned piqued Adelhein’s interest. Trusting that she was right about Aqua’s origins, he also asked. “How about yourself? It seems you aren’t a native to this world.”

Meanwhile, the battle against the mercurial golem continued with no punches being pulled.

Aureus’ spell had been successful, as expected, this time around. His [Granite Punisher] being uncontested, the construct having not detected the elf as a target up to that point. The pillars of rocks, which burst out of the flooring surface hit the being’s legs at full-force, rippling through its liquid surface enough to make its balance shift. The extended-blade accuracy, that aimed to pierce both Scarlett and Demeter, suffered, skewing it upwards. (+1) {Assuming Selective Magic F is being used to either Spare Allies or Target the Golem, as both have the same effect in this scenario.}

Demeter’s [Root Eruption] in tandem with the dual [Root Burst] would fully deflect the incoming attack. The bursting, spiked roots aimed towards the creature’s arm and sword would both pierce the limb and manage to further push the blade away. The extended-blade continued to shoot in a blinking speed, yet the tip by then was severely miss-aligned, piercing space instead. The ones aimed at its body would find better purchase in its malleable surface, piercing deeper than previously. {Assuming Selective Magic F is being used to either Spare Allies or Target the Golem, as both have the same effect in this scenario.}

And finally, came in Scarlett’s [Crimson Gale]. The violent, burning and twirling tornado blew at full force against mercurial golem, burnt marks etched along the constructs’ surface. In addition, the attack was set the piercing roots from Demeter’s magic ablaze, creating a [FIRE HAZARD F] on the golem’s position, dealing further fire-ticking damage to the being.

At the end of the assault that came from the trio, roots had been burnt, the pillars shattered. Slumping over, the mercurial golem’s surface now found itself entirely charcoal black. A pool of mercury had been formed from its oozing wounds around its feet and the bright, yellow glint in its eyes had been extinguished.

Little by little, the droplets of mercury, infused with mana, began crawling back towards the golem, making it in ONE PIECE once more.

ONE PIECE.jpg

The mana from the chamber shifted wildly, despite the only physical manifestations being soft currents of a bluish color. It all centered around the golem, in which its surface rippled, healing all the abuse and damage it had sustained. And, once more, its amber eyes were alight with its unnatural color. However, the golem didn’t move after its ‘resurrection’ per se.

Artoria
Saber-Alter-5-fixed.png

Artoria, who hadn’t missed the assault done by the trio looked satisfied with the results obtained, apparently having already moved on from the golden fool’s overt display towards her Master, for now. “It seems the training dummy has taken enough damage to be felled and returned to its original state. Acceptable.” While her tone lacked warmth as usual, there was perhaps a small hint of approval in it. None of them appeared to be a liability.

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer
6a914243-7f9e-4ca1-bfe4-bef0fdd14499.jpg

“Thank you for the compliment. There is a limitation to this specific golem, however: it is bounded to this chamber.” Adelhein said, certainly proud of hearing Scarlett’s complimenting his creation. It had been shown to be serviceable, despite its limitations. The young magus had also witnessed the counter-assault against the golem and was pleased with the had happened. “The group cohesion seems to be working great so far. Nice work.”

The praise came with Adelhein extending his hand forward, towards the golem and, upon channeling his mana, he uttered. “Spatium Inordinatio!” Liquid metal would burst from the surface of the floor, enveloping the mercurial mechanoid and the surrounding space would twist momentarily.

At the same time, further away, a globe of also liquid metal would form, at ground level, before melting away, revealing the very same golem. It had been teleported further away, from where it had been.

“For this next activity we will try to extend the range of our magecraft in exchange for its power.” Raising the index of his right finger towards the ceiling of the chamber, he began his explanation. “This is achieved by focusing your mana and efforts in attempting to increase FLUX of mana, increasing its range, area, duration or how many targets you are attempting to affect at once.” Turning towards Aqua, he motioned towards the golem. “I wish you to join this exercise as well.” Then he shifted his attention towards Gilgamesh. “You too, Gilgamesh.”

Gilgamesh
5ec7067a-593e-480e-be56-b13bb9c3da5b.jpg

“Oh?” A raised brow adorned the golden Servant’s visage momentarily, before a smile appeared on her lips. “Alright then, this might prove entertaining.”

Ability Flux allows for either Magic or Fighting Style be decreased by one grade to increase the grade of an augmenter by one grade. Example:
Normal Ability - Magic E, Magic Range F -> Cooldown E
FLUX Ability - Magic F (reduced from E), Magic Range E (increased from F) -> Cooldown E
NOTE: All other skills that make up the ability can't be HIGHER than the reduced grade of either Magic or Fighting Style. So, in the case of the given FLUX Ability, no other skill could be higher than F. Meta Magic Augmenters can also be FLUXED, following the same rules.
Enjoy!

Golem is:
80ft from Scarlett
80ft from Aureus
130ft from Demeter
80ft from Aqua
80ft from Gilgamesh

The fall of the construct gave Demeter a good idea of its strength.

More importantly, the fact that she could handle it. And that meant that she could spend less time just trying to last in a bout against it and more time experimenting with her abilities. And that was good. Experimentation was at the foundation of actual growth and understanding. Now challenge was also integral to mastery of any skill, but not if it preceded experimentation. Put simply...

...there was nothing to be gained from playing a game where you didn't fully understand the rules and, consequently, how to manipulate them.

"Congratulations on your first robot kill," Demeter said to both Aureus and Scarlett, "It definitely won't be your last if you make a habit of adventuring, I can tell you that."

Adelhein began to describe a concept known as "Flux"; no doubt something he'd read about in one of his many textbooks on arcana. The concept was relatively simple. Sacrifice some of the energy that one was expending on force, and direct it towards control. And that control, in this instance, would manifest in a far greater casting range for the same amount of effort.

Demeter shrugged.

"Alright, I'll give it a try."

She extended a hand towards the machine and began to focus her mana towards the floor beneath its feet; admittedly not much difference in range here when compared to her standard casting distance. And as she took her time to manifest the spell, she would speak to Aureus and Scarlett. And, to be honest, she might've put a few ideas in Adelhein's head as well.

"Since already know we can defeat the bot, I'm thinking we should experiment with other ways of defeating our enemies. Like... when me and Adelhein skewer people, my roots and his steel combine to pierce an enemy with more force; and the poison of our attacks mix as well. Just now, I punched holes through the construct's body and my roots carried Scarlett's flames and burned it up from the inside. So-"

It's hard to say if what happened next would've impressed or disappointed every Adelhein and his two knights. A explosion of jagged roots erupted from the floor roughly 500ft behind the construct. And while it maintained the effective area of a proper [Root Eruption], it only seemed to carry as much penetrative power as a standard [Root Burst]. Demeter looked to be surprised by her own spell. To say that she'd succeeded in "fluxing' her ability to increase its range was an understatement. However...

"Hehe. Aim needs a little work."

Quite a bit of work, actually.

"But um... I think we should practice more than just 'blasting' things. I mean, look what happened back at the college. Even now I'm not convinced that we would've actually been able to take down that construct even if we had all worked together. And, in the end, we didn't even have to to get the treasure and get you guys a passing grade. Sometimes we will be able to just stomp out our enemy with a head-first approach, like today. And that's great when it does happen. But..."

She glanced over at Scarlett and Aureus, then back over towards Adelhein.

"We should also have options that we can make use of if raw force isn't going to cut it. Options that we're confident in. And an escape plan for when it's clear that making it back home in one piece is the best that you can hope for."

Despite the implications of her words, Demeter spoke with an extremely upbeat tone. As far as she was concerned? It was better to prepare for the worst when you could than to pretend like every adventure would be ideal for one's capabilities. It was something she felt on her first adventure with Adelhein when she could barely manage her stamina. Then, again, in her journey through Widersia when she was just barely strong enough to counter the horde of machines they fought. If she was given the opportunity to properly prepare for situations like that in a controlled environment like this?

Then she was more than happy to make use of.

"Let's go ahead and practice 'flux', because that is a useful technique to know. But I really want to try a few things out, afterwards? I have some ideas on how we can put our abilities together to deal with an enemy that we might not be able to overpower. Especially with you," Demeter turned to Aureus; that man who could literally transmute decent portions of matter into other substances, "I'm not.. entirely sure how much of it will actually work, but hey. If there was ever a time to try stuff and fail, it's now. You know, when the enemy isn't actually trying to kill you. Adelhein and the metal maids will patch us back up if we mess up."

She chucked for a moment before turning back to Adelhein.

"Right?"

With the whole fighting a rather strong golem situation, Scarlett wasn't paying much attention to Adelhein's summons, thankfully otherwise it would have definitely caught her off guard and stolen her attention from the mission at hand.

Instead she was relieved to see that all of their attacks had gone off and hit the golem in some capacity. Surprisingly even her fiery wind had synergy which she hadn't even considered when being used in tandem with Demeter's root magic attack, it seemed like they had created some sort of burning combination which worked well to inflict more damage against their target, Scarlett would need to take that into consideration moving forward...the types of synergy which was possible.

Once again Aureus also showed himself to be quite helpful with his ground attacks, if they were all going to be working together moving forward more, this was looking much more promising.

Hearing Artoria say acceptable caused Scarlett to grin a bit when she realized that the golem shifting had just been a confirmation that they had been able to defeat it in whatever this first trial stage was,

"Well of course it was acceptable, there was an Ashford on this team." She'd say a bit light heartedly but almost sort of serious with a chuckle.

However hearing the praise from Adelhein pleased Scarlett quite a good deal too. She'd look to Adelhein and give a bit of a soft smile. "Considering we haven't been together that long, I think that went quite well you two." She'd add more seriously.

"Oh thanks, and cool root trick back there, didn't know it'd pair so well with my fire to be honest." She'd reply to Demeter.

"You did a great job with Rock move too it's helped us avoid getting struck down twice now Aureus." She'd also compliment him.

She then listened for further instructions, as Adelhein spoke giving him her attention, noticing how he made the golem shift and she saw now it was farther away from them, as he explained the next stage.

"flux..flux right I think I remember learning about this." She'd repeat, looking like she was in thought for a moment. Regardless she was ready to give it a try, but she also heard Demeter speak up.

Seeing Demeter get ready she'd continue to listen and also start focusing on her magic to attempt a flux variety of her Crimson gale, while it did whip up into a localized tornado like pattern, it still wasn't nearly as strong as she wanted, and she imagined with practice and growing he power, she'd be able to hit multiple targets with more fully developed ones, or even one really large one if she wanted too, but all things considered it was far from the worst F grade attack she'd seen if she did say so herself.

"I think you raise some great points Demeter, I gotta say though, I believe that Adelhein has taken that scenario into consideration and has some skills we can develop on the whole escape for your life deal, even if running isn't usually really my style." She'd state sounding like she had blind confidence and what she was saying was factual without knowing.

"Either way, I'm cool hearing and trying ideas for training we can do that you have."

Upon seeing Demeter's example with her roots, Scarlett would try to focus like Adelhein said and increase her range by lowering her power.

After some time of focus and gripping her gem catalyst in one hand, making similar hand gestures, but this time they looked a bit quicker than before, Scarlett looked right at the golem and said this time in a Terran dialect "[Distant Crimson Wind!]"

Scarlett then tried to hit the golem with a Flux: Distant Crimson Wind - Magic F, Magic range E, Magic Targets F, Fire affinity F, Wind Affinity F
Scarlett focuses her mana to try to increase it's flux in order to give her crimson wind attack greater range, instead of 30 ft, hitting up to 100 ft.

The fiery wind, presuming that the cast was successful looked less intense but also spread significantly farther out toward her target in distance as she increased the range on it.

Actions: 1. Cast
Flux: Distant Crimson Wind - Magic F, Magic range E, Magic Targets F, Fire affinity F, Wind Affinity F

on golem.

Aqua let out a sigh of relief as her healing attempt was successful. It's a small step and she surely still had a lot to learn, but this made her more confident on her healing ability. Gilgamesh mentioned something about her being different, but Aqua didn't think of herself as anything special so she just gave the Sumerian King a puzzled look.

As Adelhein told his story, Aqua quickly whipped out a small notebook and frantically noted down the verbatim like a researcher interviewing a subject. She didn't expect Adelhein to suddenly asked about her origin though, she was panicking for a moment, trying to come up with a made up story or an excuse to get off from the question. Until she realized that she shouldn't keep escaping from her past. She already vowed to herself to accept it the moment she confessed to her parents, if she keeps hiding it that would be like as if she took one step backward.

"I g-guess you can say that... but, I have a biological parents here. I am as native to this world as my neighbor, but I'm also as foreign as you..."

"S-sorry, i-if that sounds pretentious." She felts rather silly hearing her own words, but that's just how she feels about her position now. She used to think of herself as a parasitic alien entity that took over someone's child, but now she thought, or at least wanted to think of herself as both a reincarnator and as a native.

The combat team managed to defeat the golem and Adelhein conjured another one some distance away, this time he also urged Aqua to join and she simply nodded. Aqua tucked the crystal necklace back into her shirt and grabbed her staff. She pointed the staff toward the golem. Hearing what Demeter said about experimenting, maybe she would use this opportunity to try new spells.

"I-I agree. b-but I'm not great at thinking about strategy so f-feel free to tell me if there's something I can do." She chimed her agreement.

Now focusing towards the golem, she started her chant. Since she's trying a new spell, she would be extra careful not to accidentally harm anyone else other than her target. Gradually a vortex would be formed above the golem before a dark rain poured over the golem. Scarlett's distant wind made the acids drops spread even more.

Action:
1) Use Acid Rain (flux) - Magic E F, Magic Range F E, Magic AoE F, Magic Selective F, Water Affinity F, Vorpal F, Indirect F, Blight (Acid) F, Incurable F - Conjures a rain of acid that melts flesh and corrode metal, affect a 15 ft radius within 30 80 ft away

Aureus Albion

Aureus couldn't help but smile nervously. He did it. He helped. A little, at least. It felt good not being admonished for his uselessness for once. Riding the high from his small personal victory, he remained unaware of the struggles, if you can even call it that, of his teacher. "Thank you..." he replied to Demeter, mildly confused. It was nice, yes, but his tone was shaky nevertheless. "Thank you for... er, appreciating it..." He replied to Scarlett, even more clumsily. Words of compliment and how to reciprocate them was still a work that needed plenty of progress.

Once the dummy was defeated, Adelhein was quick to adjust it, as well as the room, for the next exercise he had in mind.

"Distance focus, huh...." Aureus thought out loud. Attempting to figure out how to reconfigure his mental efforts to achieve such a thing. Demeter spoke up yet again, and Aureus listened intently. It was clear she was way more put together both as a mage and as a fighter. Same went for Scarlett.

After carefully observing the two of them, along with a returning Aqua, he decided to give it a go. Aureus faced the golem, and clasped his hands together, making his mana flow through his catalyst gloves, tuning out of the strategy chat between Demeter and Scarlett. He slowly separated them, a small fire ball forming between them. He proceeded to aim it at the golem while holding it in front of his palm, feeding it air impurities and mana as he set up the shot.

A sharp exhale later, Aureus' Fire Needle darted towards the golem. Growing so weak in the trajectory that, while hitting the golem, it barely caused a ripple.

Sighing in mild disappointment, he turned back to the other trainees. "Talk about underwhelming..." his voiced thought was set aside as he picked up on Demeter addressing him. "I'll do my best to make your ideas work" Aureus stated, feeling happy he was being considered.

“Foreign and yet native?” Adelhein appeared to be a bit puzzled by Aqua’s situation, not really understanding how that was even possible. Reincarnation was something he had not a single clue about it.

Gilgamesh
5ec7067a-593e-480e-be56-b13bb9c3da5b.jpg

Gilgamesh, on the other hand, having lived in a time much different than the one which the young magus did, narrowed her crimson eyes a bit further. “Ah, I see, a stray soul from another time and place.” After piecing the blue-haired girl’s situation together, her attention shifted away fully, her interest having disappeared as quickly as it had been born.

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer
6a914243-7f9e-4ca1-bfe4-bef0fdd14499.jpg

Demeter’s failed attempt to hit the golem, with the roots manifesting quite a bit of distance from its intended target, made Adelhein raise his eyebrow. Crossing his arms, he brought his right hand to his chin, appearing to be in thought for a moment. “Now we know who can snipe a target from far away.” He said, with a bit of a grin, already thinking of the applications for the dryad’s long-range magic. Just had to get the aim down.

“The best way to learn the interaction between different magecraft, just as it happened between Scarlett and Demeter’s magecraft, is through test and experimentation. And this is the best environment for it, to be sure. One that allows for opportunity without too much danger.” He added to Demeter’s own words.

But then, when the topic moved over to alternative ways to deal with problems, mainly escaping being mentioned, there was a slight shift. And that shift wasn’t on Adelhein, but rather, on both Artoria and Gilgamesh. They certainly shared Scarlett’s opinion of running away, but on a much higher, and different, degree.

Artoria
Saber-Alter-5-fixed.png

With a scowl on her face, the corrupted king’s gauntleted hand pressed itself closed, the ebony armor groaning with the strength being put behind it. “I suppose if my Master’s life is in jeopardy, then a momentary retreat is acceptable, if only gather our strength and then come back to deliver a total, crushing victory.” The very idea of retreating didn’t sit well with her, but if it is pragmatic to do so, Artoria wouldn’t be against it.

Gilgamesh
5ec7067a-593e-480e-be56-b13bb9c3da5b.jpg

“Can’t be gracing impudent, unworthy whelps with my presence so freely. In those situations, the decision of retreat will be made, if only to stave off any possible boredom or undeserving ogling eyes.” Gilgamesh chimed in, with a rather serious expression not seen so far. Retreat would be a personal decision, rather than a situational imposition, as she would rather frame it.

Regardless of the crux of the matter, retreat was sometimes the only option, and even someone as young as Adelhein knew that. After all, pragmatism took the forefront of his mind, rather than foolish idealism. “We certainly do need to have the tools if an escape is necessary.” He began, his crimson eyes sliding towards Scarlett and appreciating the trust she placed in his foresight, despite their short time together. He couldn’t fumble this.

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer
6a914243-7f9e-4ca1-bfe4-bef0fdd14499.jpg

“We already have some great movement tools available to us, namely our ability to teleport as a group. I think that one was crucial for us to escape that construct so cleanly, along with sticking that construct deeper into the ground.” Crossing his arms, he started conjecturing. “Maybe my barrier could be used as a temporary wall, allowing us to get away… but I’m sure we have many more options that can still be revealed.” The last bit was delivered with quite a bit of confidence. The only thing the group had to employ would be creativity on how their specialties could be combined.

And, as the others attempted their own hand at the FLUX exercise, they would be successful against the mercurial golem. Scarlett’s long distance fiery gust of wind, albeit with reduced strength, would blow against the construct, bringing with the acidic rain conjured by Aqua, pelting the liquid surface of the being. Aureus’ Fire Needle would be able to capitalize on wake that had been caused by the wind, traveling towards the target and hitting it.

Gilgamesh
5ec7067a-593e-480e-be56-b13bb9c3da5b.jpg

Gilgamesh would join in the assault against the golem. With a rather bored expression on her face, she would lift her right hand, palm open, just at the height of her face. Mana quickly began condensing behind her, taking the form of a singular weapon: a sword. And, after a lazy flick of her wrist, the ephemeral weapon with a soft, blue hue would be launched towards the golem.

The attacks made by Aqua, Aureus, Scarlett and Gilgamesh had all hit their intended target, however, the golem had barely flinched with the joint impact. They would also notice that their magical attack (all the five) would lack a greater impact area (AoE), longer persistence before disappearing (Duration) and also couldn’t be split towards different targets (Targets).

At the very next moment, the mercurial being begun marching towards the group, more specifically, towards the four who had managed to hit them, repeating the same pattern of behavior as before. The heavy, pounding steps echoing throughout the chamber towards them. It would successfully walk about 50ft towards them.

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer
6a914243-7f9e-4ca1-bfe4-bef0fdd14499.jpg

Regardless of the potency of the spells that had been used, Adelhein looked pretty satisfied with the results of each one of them. The objective was successfully achieved after all. “That was pretty good. Now comes dealing with the golem, but in different manners other than raw force, just as Demeter suggested.” He would say, looking towards the five of them. As to the dryad’s question/affirmation, the young magus nodded. “That is right. While the golem lacks lethal capabilities, I will handle wounds if necessary. At least, those that Aqua can’t heal herself.” He concluded, looking at the blue-haired girl, already assigning her that responsibility.

Golem is:
30ft from Scarlett
30ft from Aureus
80ft from Demeter
30ft from Aqua
30ft from Gilgamesh

Some, like Aureus, Aqua and Adelhein, valued pragmatism as much as Demeter did. Others, like Gilgamesh, Scarlett and Artoria, still found value in strategy and mindfulness, even if they weren't too keen on the idea of retreat. Either way, it looked like everyone was open to the idea experimentation. And luckily...

...they had the perfect test subject making its way over.

"I thought back to when Aureus made that pit of sand below the construct, and I wondered if he could've turned the ground into a pit of acid. Or spikes. Or just an empty hole that the machine might've had trouble escaping from." She began, watching the construct get closer, "Then I thought about Adelhein making spikes. Or a cage. Or really anything that might've ruined someone's day if they were in the wrong place."

Truth be told, Demeter wasn't sure how well either of them could've performed those tasks, or if these were tactics that they could learn with practice. But the powers of transmutation and allomantic construction both lended themselves to far more deadly and debilitation tactics than simply slowing enemies down or producing armor for allies, respectfully. Especially when combined with complementary skills.

"And then I wondered, what if I could put the enemy there, myself?"

With a raised brow, Demeter would point her finger towards the sky and cast [Canopy Drop] on the machine that seemed entirely focused on her allies.

Teleporting an unwilling target was very different from a willing ally, but a skill that Demeter would gladly hone if it showed promise. If her spell failed, then the group would need to brace itself for the construct's next attack. Not much of an issue, in the grand scheme of things. But if it succeeded, then the machine would vanish from sight, leaving nothing behind but a pile of dried leaves and a shadow. An incredibly large shadow that would loom over them and mark its decent from far above its previous position.

Actions (1/3):
1)Cast [Canopy Drop] on the Training Construct to move it 100ft into the air and send it hurtling back down that same distance onto the training room floor just 30ft away from the others and well within range of their attacks (eventually).
[Canopy Drop]- Magic E, Componentless Magic E, Teleport E(1), Energized E, Magic School E, Magic Range [Metamagic] E- Demeter teleports a target 100ft into the air; leaving it in a freefall before it hits the ground with tremendous force. In the event of environmental hazards, she will prioritize relocating the target to best make use of them, rather than just the force of gravity. The target's destination can be any place that she can either see, sense, or has previously been to, herself.- 1 action- 100ft range- 100ft teleport distance- 1 post duration- Grade E- 0 post cooldown.

"Can't say I thought much about my magic interacting with others this way before..but you're right this is a great space for experimenting." She'd nod to Adelhein.

She listened to what the two summons had to say on the matter of retreating. "A position to use a strategic follow up to secure a victory would be a most ideal circumstance." She agreed with that notion, of course minus Adelhein's life being endangered, that wasn't an ideal situation that Scarlett hoped the group would have to get into.

Gilgamesh had a much different attitude to which Scarlett chuckled a bit after hearing, "I'm with you, I plan on getting so strong that our enemies will be the ones retreating from us, and if we leave it's because they aren't worth our time."

She was also in agreement with Adelhein at the next part.

"The...TWT..Temporary-Wall-Teleport technique, perhaps we should come up with some acronyms for different field plans and or phrases that we'll recognize as a group for a battle plan which our enemies won't, like for example TWT would suggest whoever puts up a barrier while another one moves the group away from the action/incoming attack, I think that sort of strategy could be useful for what it sounds like we'll be doing."
Scarlett shared.

Scarlett was of course pleased to see the flux worked as she smiled more confidently after. "I think that'll come in useful, thanks for the run down."

Even as their attacks hit the golem wasn't looking worse for wear as it approached on them. When she heard what Adelhein said next, she nodded, unfortunately knowing that her utility magic and or abilities weren't exactly super developed yet to deal with foes in more creative ways other than using force and maybe her moving around for the time being, but for now, as she watched if Demeter could teleport the golem, she'd send forth a cautionary attack of fire and wind again, on the chance that it didn't work, holding her ground.

She gripped the gem and did her hand gestures again before calling out in the higher class Terran dialect from The duchy once more, "[Crimson Gale!]"

Actions:
1. Crimson Gale - Magic E, Magic range F, Magic Targets F, Fire affinity F, Wind Affinity F = E Grade, 1 post cooldown.

Aureus Albion

Aureus mildly dissociated from the conversation, focusing on the gist of what he overheard. Manipulating his mana in unconventional ways... The feeling, albeit brand new, was surprisingly familiar. Even if the final result was weak, the concept was understandable. He may be able to refine it into something more useful down the road.

Once he focused back on the mock battle, Demeter was proposing some ideas for use of his skills. Aureus nodded, silently gauging how he should try to modify his next trick. "A pit. Hmmm..." An idea popped up, and since waiting for better ideas to come was a luxury he couldn't afford in a fight, he went with it.

Clasping his hands, Aureus started making his mana flow "Let's try this!" He knelt, wanting to have as much control of the modified attack he envisioned, he directly sent the mana from his hands to the ground.

Demeter had launched the golem in the air, so Aureus targeted where it was going to land. A black circle appeared in the ground, which aggressively caught on fire. The fire appeared to quickly dig a hole in the ground, creating a nest for itself.

As he stood again, he realized he overheard something about code names for team attacks. That definitely sounded like a fun time. But he tried to keep a mental note of it, to help on that once physical training was done.

Flaming Pit - Transmutation F, Earth Affinity F, Fire Affinity F, Magic AoE F, Magic E, Spell Duration F, Selective Magic F, Alchemy F, Energized E, Magic Targets F, Magic Range F - Within established magical parameters (15ft AoE, 30ft Range, 1 Target), user creates a hole in the ground, transforming the previous content of the pit into an ignited flammable substance. Hence, a hole on fire - Grade E - 0 Post Cooldown

"E-ehh..?! Me d-doing the healing??" Aqua wasn't really sure she's ready to do the healing on actual combat wound. She might mess something up like connecting the nerves with the wrong one, or something like that. At least that's what her brain was telling her, but she also appreciates Adelhein trying to give her opportunity to learn and she didn't want to refuse it, so her was to prevent it from happening in the first place. They must defeat the golem with their next attacks.

"I-I'm ready." She exclaimed as she planted her staff on the ground, still holding it with both of her hands. Demeter threw the golem into the air, Scarlett attacked it midair and Aureus created a flaming pit. Looking at the golem's position, she decided that the best way to dal with it was to plunge it even deeper.

The crystal on her staff shone brightly. Her next spell was probably one of the most complex one she had ever tried. As she started her chant, another hole formed beneath the hole that Aureus had made. Unlike the flaming pit though, this one was consisted of bubbling acid. A strong smell of sulfur wafted through the room as a vortex appeared inside the acid pool, hopefully able to pull the golem even deeper.

Once she felts the golem was deep enough... she canceled her spell, letting the transmuted floor returned to its original state and potentially buried the golem 15ft under.

Action:
1) Sulfur Pit - Magic D, Transmutation F, Alchemy F, Water Affinity F, Blight (Acid) F, Indirect F, Incurable F, Vorpal F, Magic Range F, Magic AoE F, Selective F, Magic Duration F - Transmute the ground beneath the target into a whirling pool of sulfuric acid (30ft range, 15ft AoE, 1 hour duration) - D Grade - 2 turn cooldown

Gilgamesh

Scarlett’s envisioned future for herself, one which would cause enemies to flee with her strength, brought a smirk to Gilgamesh’s lips. Prideful beings caught her interest, even more when she would have the chance to witness if they would be successful or not. “Perfectly put.”

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer
6a914243-7f9e-4ca1-bfe4-bef0fdd14499.jpg

The young magus listened to Demeter’s suggestions, particularly those regarding his own metallic manipulation. Those were good ideas for when raw brawn proved not to be enough to deal with whatever problem they could come across. “That is a sound plan to trap a creature and having it deal with whatever is inside the pit while it tries to crawl its way out of it. If it manages to do it, that is.”

Aqua being overly surprised with Adelhein’s suggestion to make her in charge of the healing, during the training, made his expression soften slightly. “I understand that I might have sprung up a surprise on you, but that is the only real way to learn how to deal with the pressure from when it counts. What if you need to heal one of us, while a group is charging straight onto your position?” Once more, he decided to brought up the importance of keeping the concentration under high-stress situations.

“TWT… that is a nice acronym for this technique whenever we decide to use it. I will buy us time and bring everyone up to speed with what is about to happen.” The young magus added to Scarlett’s own words. Maybe, with enough time, the group will start creating different names for team attacks (actually team-up go!).

And, with that, the first experiment in a team-up join attack, looking for all sorts of different effects, began.

Demeter’s [Canopy Drop] would successfully snatch the mercurial golem’s position from where it stood, making it disappear from sight momentarily, until their eyes were raised.

The height drop began, the form of the golem offered no wind resistance, making it fall with full gravitational force. The sound which air displacement done by the creature, resembled a loud blowing of wind.

And, while in midair, Scarlett’s [Crimson Gale] blew against it. The fiery, strong gust of wind would blow against the construct who couldn’t really defend while dropping from the air. Despite its weight, the burning gust would manage to tilt it, making it fall head first instead, simultaneously burning the metallic surface.

As the drop continued, Aureus’ [Flaming Pit] would target a large spot on the place where the mercurial golem’s shadow was being projected. The fire managed to burn through the floor of the training chamber, creating a pit that would likely accept the golem up to its waist.

Thankfully, for their ears, when the golem fell head first into the pit, it was already filled with Aqua’s [Sulfur Pit]. The bubbling acid would spill over the hole, shooting in quite many directions, sizzling as it touched the surrounding floor. The acidic hazard that was created, would begin to corrode away the golem.

And, when the floor returned to normal, half of its legs were sticking out of the ground.

Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer
6a914243-7f9e-4ca1-bfe4-bef0fdd14499.jpg

For training’s sake, Adelhein decided to join in the group attack, despite not being necessary at that point. “Metallica Carcerem!” He uttered, concentrating his mana in the surrounding area around the golem’s resting place.

From the ground, a half-globe with a shiny surface and slightly see through would be formed, anchored against the floor.

With the construct fully contained, Adelhein turned towards the group, pretty content with the results they had achieved. “That worked pretty swell for a first time, but we are missing its name. How can we call this technique?” He asked, looking at the group.

1 - Metallic Carcerem - Magic E, Magic Range F, Selective F [Allowing attacks from the outside, blocking attacks from the inside], Magic AoE F, Elemental Affinity [Metal] F, Metamagic [Duration F], Barrier F, Tangle F

Scarlett was pleasantly surprised to hear Gilgamesh agreeable with her, having someone strong like that think what she said sounded well put was nice.

She listened to Adelhein’s response to Demeter’s suggestions which were reasonable in her mind.

Aqua’s reaction wasn’t as much of a surprise as one might imagine to Scarlett just because she had figured giving how Aqua had been so far she might feel like being a combat healer was an imposition or lack the confidence currently to feel good about carrying out the role, at least that’s what Scarlett was thinking, she hoped that with time that would improve. What was nice for Scarlett to hear was that she was willing to give it a go regardless of how she felt.

Scarlett gave Adelhein a nod and a thumbs up when he commented on the Acronym, “Concise and easy to remember is definitely what we want to go for when we need to relay what we’re going to try doing next on an active battlefield.”

For the next bit Scarlett watched with baited breath, a look of excitement taking hold, as a confident grin developed once again seeing all of their magic go off, while she felt that some of the other’s had more impressive things going on than her own at the moment, after all this wasn’t yet as developed as her fighting magic, seeing all of their elements come together and work was quite exciting as all the elements took hold, from the big drop Demeter caused, and the fiery pit from Aureus, as well as the sulfur pit from Aqua, and even her own extra damage that she provided on the golem’s descent. And then even Adelhein’s metal magic imprisoning the golem further it seemed.

When taking all of this into consideration, Scarlett was in thought for a minute, before continuing,

“Yeah it did work really well..maybe for this one we call it something like..DPP..Drop-Pit-Prison..I mean we all saw how the golem became stuck and damaged, and it was sent falling down into getting damaged and it’s mobility being limited in pit hazards..I’m hoping that soon enough my contribution to the damage on its way down will have improved a good deal, but anyway I Think that name is short and to the point.”

Scarlett settled on.

"Might be a good idea if we start archiving and codifying some of this stuff sooner rather than later when the names are finalized, and we have an idea of what the specific team up should look like, that way it'll be organized and easy to reference for us to practice, and recall on the field."

"Very cool."

A smile slowly crept its way across Demeter's face as she watched the ground harden around the construct and leave it trapped within the ground. Not exactly what she was expecting to see, but it opened the door to alot of possibilities. A menagerie of hair-brained ideas ran through her mind, but a name was probably the last thing on her mind at that moment.

She chortled as gave an exceedingly long explanation for a short acronym.

"We could also just have someone shout 'Dunk em', then..." she gestured towards the buried bot, "We dunk em."

She walked forward until she was side-by-side with the others.

"So, before we bully the training dummy some more, I'm curious. Are you guys gonna be staying in the mansion with us? Or living at the school?", A question for pretty much everyone save Adelhein and his servants, "You think they'll let me come hang out on campus sometimes?"

Then, she turned to Adelhein.

"Let's reset the construct again. I've got a few more things I'd like to try out with the group."

She paused for a moment, then lifted her left arm. She would tense her arm; her soft, green skin hardening and becoming almost indistinguishable from wood for a brief moment before she relaxed it.

"And a few things I'd like to try on my own later, when I won't have everyone around for practice."

Aureus Albion

Aureus dusted off his gloves after standing back up. Feeling a mild sense of pride from his contribution to the effort. Then turned his attention to Adelhein, Scarlett, and Demeter. A team-up technique discussion had begun. Aureus focused intently to every word. Trying to best comprehend where all of their views on the topic came from.

"Dunk, huh?... Maybe call out what we want them 'dunked' in, too? Fire dunk, acid dunk... something like that?" The elf added, liking Demeter's simplistic way of thought more.

Demeter then posed an interesting question "Am... Am I getting housing?" He was shocked by the fact that this piece of information was omitted. Both in the Academy registration, and here in Adelhein's estate. But then he exhaled audibly. "...Just probably forgot about it..." He then looked at the other members of the group. "I don't have a preference, really. Having a steady roof over my head is enough. So whatever works better for everyone will do for me as well." he said, feeling self conscious about his lack of material possessions. A person wouldn't need a keen eye to see he wasn't dressed the best, for one.

Aqua let out a sigh of relief as the golem was stuck in the pit and stopped moving. At least no one would be injured for now, she would just practice healing on herself later. She looked at the remains of their combined magic. The flaming hole, the smoky sizzling sulfur, the dropping and the midair attack.

"H-how about... Hell Drop?" She suggested, looking at the pit once more. "T-the pit looks like gate to hell. I-I think"

Demeter brought out a question about housing. Aqua already got her stuffs moved into her dorm though since she's technically already become the academy student even before the test.

"I-I already have a dorm room." She said, revealing a small copper key. "It's good if you want easy access to t-the academy's library."

“And we don’t want our tactics to be fully understood by our enemies as well. Seems that acronyms might be the way to not give them chance to react.” The young magus further added to Scarlett’s words, the idea actually growing on him. His eyes would slide towards both his Servants, eyeing Artoria and Gilgamesh. He ought to come up with acronyms for joint attacks of the trio as well, just in case.

“DPP, it doesn’t reveal much to a stranger that hears it and captures everything that was done to the golem. It is a good choice.” He continued. And, upon hearing Scarlett’s wish to contribute even more to the team-tactic, Adelhein nodded, being glad that his offer of tutelage promised to pay hefty dividends. “Excellent, that is the mindset I look for.”

Demeter’s suggestion for a name was more direct, more literal. And, while thinking on it, he ended up crossing his arms, considering it for quite a bit. “I feel that might end up being too clear for whoever we are engaging against. Not that they might be able to do anything about it, but it feels wise to avoid that risk at the maximum.” Not being a risk-taker, that felt the best as far as he understood.

“Good point, Aureus. We might want to use some specific hazard inside the pit. Having a way to communicate that would be more than advised.” Dropping a flame elemental inside the fire pit was a situation he would rather avoid, not that he imagined it happening. Otherwise, he had chosen very poorly.

“Hell drop, mmm?” Aqua’s suggestion, much like Demeter’s, captured the essence of the move directly, although the blue-haired girl’s suggestion had a bit of a figurative component to it. “It sounds a bit more discreet, but still have a clear component about it.” At the end, he kept the same opinion.

Then a topic, one which he had already thought about it, was brought up by Demeter. Aureus’ surprise about the housing made a raised eyebrow appear on Adelhein’s face. ‘What sort of mentors do they have in this place? Isn’t that the bare minimum one has to offer for what is asked in return?’ Those thoughts crossed his mind and probably some of it was visible on a fleeting expression of indignance.

“Yes, as a proper mentor, it would be shameful of me to not offer housing to my apprentices. It goes without saying that I can’t offer protection for those not under my roof, as it just isn’t possible. But I suppose the staff of the Ethereal Luminary is competent enough to offer protection for their students…” There wasn’t a shred of confidence in his voice about the last bit. “... the choice, in the end, will be up to each one of you.”

Seeing the glint of the small copper key in Aqua’s hand, the young magus nodded, taking it would be impractical for her to remain at the mansion.

And, with his attention shifting to Demeter once more, there was one last thing to be done. “Before I reset the golem, to make the mentorship official, I believe a name for it is in order. And the one I decided on is [Magno Sapient Victori], as I feel it represents what this effort is all about. Ranks will in it will be distributed accordingly.” He added, moments before using his magecraft to teleport the golem from its buried state to be standing on ground level once more.

And, just as before, the damage which the construct had sustained had been enough to deactivate it. It didn’t take long for the chamber to be thrumming with power once more, mana flowing through it and springing the mercurial golem into activity, as if blowing life in it. And so, the training continued…
