Cannon Thief
Beacons airship, Callisto, resembled a turtle more than a transport as it slowly dug it's fins through the air. They seemed to be more of a steering system than propulsion, but it added to the somewhat mystical qualities of the ride. Passengers, the newest class of Beacon Academy, had view of Vale beneath them and the boundless sky all around. The metal flippers of the ship occasionally obscured the view below, but only momentarily. Time wasn't of any concern it seemed as long as the airship lazily crawled towards Beacon and docked there eventually.
Per the usual, plenty of students had gathered around viewing ports to watch the world below and to hopefully catch first sight of Beacon. Along with the chatter of excited and anxious students, news holograms played recapping the events of the week all around Remnant. Today, subjects of discussion included what Professor Ozpin is always drinking from his mug. As interesting as it was to hear the speculations of newscasters and guests, most students opted to socialize and take in the views.

Koamaru walked slowly through the viewing area, his jacket thrown across one shoulder. His tie hung loose around his neck, framing the first few buttons of his shirt being open and exposing bare skin. He was off the job, and therefore relaxing. His trusty sidearm still sat firmly in its holster under his left arm, however. Nobody had made a fuss about disarming him while boarding, so he took it as a sign that weapons were welcome. The security staff may have had a different opinion if they knew about the hidden features of his companion, but nobody asked.
Speaking of his companion, Gaucho pattered along at his right, sticking close to avoid being accidentally stepped on. The canine wasn't exactly easy to miss, being a bit overfed, but he was rather short in stature. Beside his physical size, Gaucho had been well trained to be a true companion. The only lapse in the dogs discipline seemed to be begging for treats around mealtimes, something Koamaru gave in to easily to at times.
Koamaru would never admit it out loud, but Gaucho was closer to heart walking at his feet than his pistol was while strapped to his ribs.
Koamaru stopped his pace and glanced down at his canine companion for a moment. Gaucho was thoroughly enjoying the adoring looks from several students as well as what could be described as an air of adventure. Koamaru would be lieing if he didn't acknowledge a similar feeling. With one hand dug into his left pocket and the other holding his jacket over his shoulder, he may have seemed more like security staff than a student. Perhaps like some kind of special agent.
Whatever the case, he wanted to observe a bit more before taking flight in the air of adventure that had enveloped himself and Gaucho. There was no reason why both of them should be tied down though.
Koamaru knelt down and placed his palm atop Gaucho's head, ruffling his ears slightly. "Go on, have fun."
Without a second wasted, Gaucho took off as fast as his little legs could carry him to ingratiate himself to the company of as many students as possible. The dog was extremely smart and they seemed to be in good company, so Koamaru had to problems letting his friend roam the ship to his hearts content. It was highly unlikely that any trouble would come of it.
As for his own plan, he took a few steps to the left until he came to the observatory window. He was familiar enough with Vale, but he had never gotten the chance to see so much at once. Even if he couldn't make out the specifics of all he was looking at below him, he knew it was beautiful and it deserved to be taken in.
