Come along with me
to a corpse under a tree
we will drive them from the forest
and drown them in the sea
come along with me
To slay our enemies
We'll drink their blood like water
The old gods will be pleased
The horrid song is known throughout Ayore, sung by those who worship "the old gods" they call themselves Blooded. We call them vampires, monsters... What else can one call a beast that consumes the flesh and blood of man?
The blooded look human, but they have little else in common. They hold no emotions apart from bloodlust, rage and hunger. In days of old they would sing to frighten us, small groups of vampires would raid villages at night.
Despite being incredibly powerful, they have flaws as well. Weaknesses one can use or exploit.
Sunlight and fire being the main cause of vampire death. But another story that was passed down generations was that the vampires cannot enter nor touch anything blessed by the gods...
"they sing in hopes of scaring us out our homes" -- Jacaqt Press village chief of Saldot.
"The people of Ayore have fought the Blooded since before recorded history, it's well known that Vampires are humanity's greatest threat. Which brings us to the Welt empire..."
"the angels praise each swing of my blade and God shall applause for each monster slain"
Waboe Kirra is quite possibly the most accomplished vampire hunter in all the lands. Despite his eccentric demeanor and despicable manners, when Waboe speaks people listen... And the man has a lot to say.
Waboe found himself within the city of Dunwel speaking to the Lord's of Slate who represent the Alliance. Waboe has "evidence" that the Welt king is being manipulated by vampires, Monsters in high places with key positions leading the largest empire on Ayore to do their unholy bidding.
Waboe heard about the Runeborn, how the Rune masters of Slate created magical humans. Waboe was adamant about becoming one of these living weapons, but none would help perform the ritual.
"I won't be responsible for the death of hunter Kirra" --- every Runemaster Waboe asked.
Instead the Lord's of Slate demanded Waboe stay in Dunwel to train and teach the runeborn/soldiers to fight vampires.

Medieval fantasy adventure with monsters magic and obviously vampires.
(Lycans are basically werewolfs that vampires create/control)
The rules for magic are below in the spoiler. I'm hoping for six players able to post once or twice a week with a minimum of two paragraphs.

It was a boon given from the gods passed on to us from our ancestors. Runes, the power inside these precious stones can only be described as magic. Over generations humanity learned to use Runes in worthwhile and productive ways. Compared to the cavemen biting and chucking glowing stones at each other that is...
Runes have multiple forms and uses, but ultimately Humans use Runes for combat. To survive against monsters you need to fight like a monster... Runes became the tools used to climb the food chain and secure safety
Fire starters, Sky Flashes, Instant rain,
(Fire spells, electricity spells, water spells, magic weapons,)
((Red runes, yellow runes, blue runes, transparent etc))
A man using a red rune to spray fire.
A woman using a chartreuse rune to make arrows out of mana
Humans learnt how to use magic over time, in the present days of Ayore runes are common knowledge.
However common knowledge is a trivial way to put it...
If a person can manage to fix dinner without burning themselves would they be called a Chef?
If someone makes a shelter are they a carpenter?
If a boy swings his father's sword in the yard is he considered a swordsman?
No.
That is to say, someone can find and use Runes... But that does not mean they are worthy of the title Rune-Master. A master of runes understands far more then a soldier throwing a red stone Whilst shouting "Hell-Fire!"
Though throughout Ayore most consider Runes as magic rocks to throw at whatever you want dead.
The Slate alliance is different. It is only because of practice and knowledge with Runes that the Alliance could stand against such overwhelming odds. The Welt empire marched across Ayore, built on the backs of slaves and cruel efficiency the Welt army reaches all corners of the known world.
It was the southern tribes of Slate who banded together in effort to combat the growing evil.
Rune-Masters all over Slate held a meeting, it was determined Slate would need to be stronger.
Rituals were held to infuse new born babies with magic. Runeborn is what the six survivors would be called. With inherent power welling up inside them, the Runeborn lived somewhat normal lives until the age of eight. That is when training began, they were escorted to the city of Dunwel. To be trained in the arts of runes and combat for the hope and future of Slate.
