"Kill them with success"

Alex frowned, staring down at the elf. “Yes, I think that you are. The true drunks tend to take the opportunity to look up my skirt.” Which usually ended with quite a bit of entertainment as it was somewhat up to debate on what they would find first. Most of the time it was one of the twin knives strapped to the inner thigh. Other times it was a slim chain. And then there were the rest who usually stumbled back in outrage even before Alex proved to them why it was a bad idea to indulge such depraved acts.

                Not that the lack of drink in the elf was really going to slow Alex down. Instead a smirk crossed the slim features. Reaching out, the wench took the opportunity the elf had kindly presented, to twine a strand of the silver hair through calloused fingers. “Not that I mind someone restrained enough to act the gentleman without being…condescending.”

Bury them with a smile

@akinaxr

Ava gives up picking up the pieces of the table and yells "I'm gonna leave this to you. Consider the gold I threw at you my apology" she didn't expect the wench to hear her so she sits down and gulps her drink down, she waits for the bartender bring her another and laughs, she felt the warm fog of intoxication surround her mind and relaxed a little

@AceofRoses

It took several moments before Callum got over the shock, somewhat breathlessly he responded, "Wouldn't dream of it."  His eyes trailed down the strand of hair that was tangled in the wench's fingers.  Though he could clearly see the calluses lining the palm, this only increased his hopes for this human.

"Is it a problem that I'm here without drinking anything?" he asked, suddenly remembering that this person was a tavern wench and may not appreciate random elves slumped over tables that precious customers are supposed to use.  He took a quick glance around the tavern before returning his eyes to the human, hoping he didn't reveal how much he liked the slight tugging on his hair.

Sir Ambrose Magus

Ambrose could see from the tear coming from her eyes that this might be the first time that so many wonderful things might of happened to her. He couldn't help but be a little happy and sad for at the same time. He walked his horse over to Chandler and hoisted himself  so he could mount.

This is my friend Catastros my magic stalion. You can put your things in the saddle bags so you don't lose them on the way."

Chandler nods, walking over to Catastros. She opens one of the saddle bags, gently placing the bag inside, in fear that she'd hurt the stallion. When he didn't react, she smiled, looking up at Ambrose. She captured his gaze for a split second, before she climbed on, sitting behind him. The saddle was quite uncomfortable, but this was much better than walking all the way home. Chandler tilts slightly, looking at Ambrose once more. "My farm is in the eastern fields, past the river," she informs him.

"Alright just hold on tight we should be able to get there in no time."

Ambrose grabbed hold of the reins and kicked Catastros into a full gallop. Heading east they wasted no time by jumping over anything short enough for them to jump over. The scenorie around them was passing them quickly by the seconds. The river came into view and on the other side was the farm. It looked like most farms he had seen while visiting other other villages he has been to on all his travels.

"Nice farm you got here, where should I drop you off," he said looking back at Chandler.

The whole ride, Chandler held onto Ambrose tightly, her arms wound around his waist. She'd never been on a horse before, and though she won't admit it, she loved the feeling of the wind in her hair and nipping at her cheeks. They were probably glowing a bright red. When they reached her farm, it looked untouched, like it always did. Her father was most likely sleeping. Chandler meets Ambrose's gaze, and points to the front of the barn. "Over there is fine," she replies.

Ambrose had stopped them right  to the barn where Chandler had pointed to for him to go. He leaped to ground feeling dirt under his boots. He took it upon himself to help Chandler down, which was really easy sense she was really light in his arms. Setting her down gently and took the sack of gold from the pouch and handed it to Chandler.

"There you go Ms Viiperi, I have to be honest that you make a very nice riding partner. I'm not really that busy with most of my time, if it would not incovience you would you allow me to give you a ride every once in a while."

Chandler holds the sack of gold with both of her hands to keep them from falling. She thought about his offer, chewing on her lip. Going riding with Ambrose. She could just imagine herself behind him on the stallion, watching the trees or the ocean fly by. However, that could just be a part of her imagination. Her father would never allow it. She was scared to think about the beating she'd get if he found out. Oh my... but Ambrose's offer sounded so wonderful...

Chandler peers up at him, and says, "I-I'd love that." A smile overtakes her features, but it quickly fades with the sound of the barn door opening. Alastair Viiperi walked outside, standing in front of the two. Chandler looks between her father and Ambrose. While they're the same height, Ambrose could easily beat her father into a pulp.

"Chandler. Inside," her father says, before turning around and walking back inside the barn.

She gulps, facing Ambrose. "I'd best be off. Thank you, so much, sir, for everything, and the gold, I just-" Chandler fumbles over her words. She still can't believe that she'd gotten so much gold in less than an hour of waiting at the town square. Without warning, to herself and him, Chandler wraps her arms around him, shivering from the feeling of his cold, metal armor. She quickly retracts, hurrying inside the barn without looking back.

Sir Ambrose Magus

Ambrose was pleased hear that she wanted to go riding with him. He never has asked anyone that before so to get a yes on the first try ever was nothing but a victory greater than the day he was knighted by King Alteon Silver-blood. He was so happy that did not see her leap in to give him a hug. Even though he was covered in armor he still blushed a little out of impules. It was cut short by a man that by the way he presented himself and how she let go from, that the man standing before them was her father. Ambrose took  Chandler's lead and got on Catastros' back and rode off far enough so they wouldn't be able to see him.

Once he was sure that he was out sight he hopped to the ground, sent Catastros away and rushed back to the farm. He was sure that something was just not right about her father. The look he gave her when they got back was not of a loving father. If something bad happened to Chandler he was going to wisk her away from her nightmares.

Chandler closed the barn doors, darkening the inside. The only light that shone in was from the windows by the ceiling. Alastair stood in the middle of the room, his head down. Dangling between his fingers was a glass bottle, most likely filled with alcohol.

Chandler slowly approaches him, the sound of her footsteps and the gold inside the sack are the only things that are heard. "Father, you won't believe what happened today. A man came, and he bought all of our potatoes, and he gave-"

"Who was that man, at the door? Is he a guard from the castle?"

Chandler raised an eyebrow with his question. Ambrose, a guard from the castle? He didn't wear the same armor as they. After all, he was too kind to be one of the guards. Chandler shakes her head, and says, "No Father. He's very kind. He offered me a ride back to the barn, and he-"

She was caught off again by Alastair. He lifted his head up, staring at her with his cold, dark eyes. When Chandler was little, she always thought he was a demon, with his black eyes. Now, just looking at him with his fists clenched, jaw tight, and eyes reading anger, Chandler believed he was a demon. "A ride? Back to the barn? What did you do to make him do that? Show him your breasts, you filthy wench!"

In a split second, her cheek was burning, as tears erupted in her eyes. Before she could protest, her father had his boot on her stomach, pushing her to the ground. Chandler winces, looking up at him.

"You're a rat, just like your mother. You should've been a boy! You would've been healthy, and strong. But, no! You're a filthy bitch. Just another mouth to feed. Another person to waste money on. Why should I care if you live or not? You killed the only thing I cared about! You killed Jessamine!" Alastair was screaming, his face red with anger. He throws the bottle to the ground, beside Chandler. A shard of glass lands on her arm, cutting into her flesh. Blood erupts in the surface. Chandler winces at the pain.

"Father, ple-"

"Don't call me that!" He screams. With the same foot he used to push her to the ground, he kicks her right in the face, sending her falling to the ground. Sobs rack her body violently, and she can taste the blood spewing from her lip. "You are not my child!"

Chandler shuts her eyes, tightly, waiting for it all to be over.

Ambrose was moving as fast as he could while dressed in his armor and with the sun beeming down on him. He just made back to the river when he could hear screaming from the direction of the barn. It was the sound of Chandler's father screaming for some reason. Following that was a sound similar to a sack falling to the ground. Drawing his sword he aproached the barn door getting ready for anything that he might see.

Carcking the door open he is faced with terribly shocking reality. Ambrose didn't have time to process anything other than that Chandler was in danger and that he had save her. Leaping into action he burst past the doors tackling Alastair to the ground and holding his blade the sword to his neck.

"How dare you lay your hands on her!" he screamed. Ambrose focused real hard not to kill this man on the spot. As much as that would make him feel better he couldn't do that without thinking about how Chandler would feel about that.

"Are you ok Chandler, I had a feeling something wasn't right when I saw that black on your face."

@Elizabeth Duchamps

Ava leaves the tavern and walks back to the town square, by now the merchants were all packing up their stalls. She sees Ambrose's horse ride off and smiles before walking to a colourful stall to buy herself a bottle of strong spirit alcohol, she didn't just drink it, she also used the colourless liquid to sterilise cuts before she sewed them shut. Ava never got hurt much, she would try to help out the doctors every now and again. It was a simple job really, clean the patients' cut and then sew them up if needs be. She got paid fairly for the job too.

Ava looks at the small stall that Chandler was stood at. The girl had looked so frightened and her smile had looked forced. It was obvious that she was being abused by someone. A father who maybe didn't want her or a mother who regretted having a child when she was younger. Either way Ava couldn't just stand aside and let the girl get abused until she was dead, she had overheard some of their conversation, she lived on a farm not too far from here I think she said East. Well it won't be a wasted journey if I'm wrong, maybe the farmer has meat to sell. Just follow the horse and find out, you have Lion's Heart after all, I could keep up. Just gotta make sure I don't wear myself out. Ava nods to herself and sets off, the amulet around her neck glows an amber orange and the loud roar of a lion can be heard, she immediately darts after Ambrose and Chandler, keeping her distance so she doesn't frighten them. She sees them ride straight up to the farm and watches Ambrose ride away. She darts over to the farmhouse, her speed making her almost invisble. She hears Chandler scream and watches Ambrose kick his way inside the barn. Ava deactivates her amulet and sprints in after Ambrose, she grabs Chandler and scoops her up in her arms "disgusting man. How can you lay your hands on such a delicate creature as this girl? Every day I watch all the merchants walk to their stalls and set up. This girl shows up a little later than everyone and she usually has some kind of bruise on her face or her arms. It's disgusting. If it were up to me I'd kill you here and now but luckily you're being restrained by a knight, they have a code of honour. If it were me I'd beat you just like you beat this poor defenceless girl."

Chandler hadn't enough time to process what was happening. She awaited another kick, another punch, a slap or two. She waited for him to tug at her hair, pulling her across the room. She waited for anything, and she got nothing. Until, she heard the sounds of the barn doors bursting open. Through all the chaos, Chandler hoped the doors didn't break. She'd have to fix them again before winter. There was a loud thud, and the sound finally had Chandler looking up. There was Ambrose. He held Alastair to the ground, his sword at her father's neck. Chandler grins. Even with the blood spewing from her lip, running down her chin, even with the dark hand-print on her cheek, even with the blood running down her arm, Chandler was happy that he was there.

"Ambro-ah!"

Chandler was picked up, now in someone's hold. The action had startled her for a split second, but when she turned to find the blonde elf, Chandler's racing heart calmed. She listens to the elf's words, nodding slightly. She'd never see the elf before, but the fact that someone noticed part of the hardships Chandler faced, gave her a feeling of protection. Looking between Ambrose and the elf, she knows she is protected. "Thank you," she breathes out, looking at both of her saviors.

Chandler looks away from them, and back at her father. For years, she only saw anger in his eyes. Even if she did the littlest of things, she was beaten. For years, Chandler tried her best to be the perfect child. She always thought something was wrong with her. Many days, she longed for her mother. She was the only thing that would make Chandler happy, even if she were dead. Chandler would ask her mother in her dreams, when she will be free? Her mother never answered. These few days, Chandler was beginning to lose hope. Now, she doesn't need to.

Still looking at her father, Chandler spits out a sentence that he never used on her, but she wished to use on him many times. "Rot in hell, bastard."

Ava looks at Ambrose, Chandler had just given him permission to kill the miserable worm in front of her but the question was would he do it? Ava shakes her head and looks back at Chandler "how bad are you hurt? Can you move all your fingers and toes? Your mouth is definitely injured. If you want I can fix you using my amulet. You might feel a little tired afterwards but that's because it's speeding up the regeneration in your body" Ava grabs the amulet's chain and begins to unclasp it

Chandler looks away from Alastair, facing the elf. "I've got a shard of glass in my arm," she says, raising her arm so both can see. Blood continued to trickle down her arm, to her hand, dripping to the floor. "I can't get it out, and I'm certain I am losing a lot of blood at the moment." Chandler uses her pointer finger on her other hand to softly touch the shard, but instead she winces. "Will your amulet be able to remove the shard?" she asks. She didn't care much about her lip--though the blood that dripped in her mouth tasted foul--her main concern was the glass. Anything could have happened to it, which can make Chandler sick. It could have bacteria that's spreading through her body, or it could've punctured one of her arteries.

Ava grits her teeth, she nods "it will get the glass out...Your body is going to heal incredibly quick which means it's going to push the glass out. I could just pull it out if you want. It's less risky that way but there will be more pain"

Chandler shakes her head, and says, "You've helped me enough. And trying to pull it out will be absolutely disgusting. Let the amulet do it." Chandler has had glass in her before. When she was nine, her father threw a glass vase at her. Two shards had gotten stuck on her right leg. She was able to get them both out, but the sight of getting them out, was horrific. She threw up from the sight. She still has the scars on her leg.

Ava nods and clasps the necklace around Elizabeth's neck, the amulet always had a warm feel to it even in the coldest of winters. "Brace yourself, it's a weird feeling" she mutters something and instantly the amulet lets loose a large roar and glows amber. Chandler's arm begins to heal, the glass is pushed out and hits the floor. After a few seconds Chandler is healed "I'm guessing you feel pretty faint right now so don't talk just listen. I have a home back in town and you're welcome to stay with me. I can't let you live here any longer knowing that miserable worm does horrid things to you. If you don't want to come with me then maybe Sir Ambrose over there might take you in." Ava wasn't big on cruelty, if she saw someone who needed help she'd offer it.

"Pirate..."

                Alex’s head tilted to the side, considering. Then a slight sigh escaped, Alex soothing the strands back into place without seeming to even fully realize the action. “No, I suppose not. You haven’t caused any issues. If you do want anything, by all means do something to gain my attention.” Really the elf wasn’t doing anything that warranted Alex having been sent over here beyond appearing to be drunk without having actually bought anything. At least no one else had overly been bothered to see Alex perched on the table rather than twirling through the ranks of early day drunks. Drunks who would be getting louder soon, and who would be spending more freely.

                Like the man who had just come in who looked well enough off to spend very freely. Letting a hint of a smile cross over the delicate features, Alex let green eyes travel up and down the male. The rich cloth was fairly subtly done. Probably in an effort to hide that the man was likely a knight or a merchant. The perfect person to have plenty of little packets of gold coins. After a moment to assess the most likely places, Alex looked back to his current endeavor.

                Taking a deep breath, Alex leapt off the table, landing nice and light on the balls of the feet. “The boss will be wanting me to earn my keep soon enough.” The smile held the same sort of mischief as earlier, Alex straightening out the skirt. “Best not to make him actually say it.

The pain hadn't bothered her. What was bothering her was the aftermath. Her vision was blurred, and she had a pounding headache. She tried to focus on the elf's words, but she could only comprehend a few. "S-Stay? Where?" She mumbles. Her eyes are almost closed, and she's having a bit of trouble keeping her balance. It took a lot of effort to just speak. "I'm really... tired." Chandler yawns, trying to keep her eyes open as best as she can.

Sir Ambrose Magus

Ambrose was about to thrust the sword into Akastair after hearing what Chandler had to say about her fathe rbut what this elf had to say did strike a cord to him. He had been apointed as a knight of the realm so there was a certain way that he was going to have to approach this kind of situation. No, he couldn't allow his honor control him at this moment because this man on thrust away from death did not deserve such mercy. Even a thief was nothing compared to this monster who would dare strike his own child down with no remorse. Gripping the hilt of his sword he raised his it high above his head and slammed it down piercing him straight down the the center of his face. Then taking much care not to over do it, he opened his mouth and a stream of fire shot out burning Alastairs body to a pile of dust.

After kicking some dirt so the flames don't spread, hhe sheaved his sword and turned to see how Chandler was doing. The elf girl was holding Chandler in he rarms and she was on the edge of falling asleep.

"It's alright Chandler he won't ever hurt you again,"he said before looking at the elf. "I don't know you but I must thank you for having the heart to ccome help this young girl. We probably should just get her out of here fo now."

@Elizabeth Duchamps @Katie Jensen

Ava takes her amulet back and nods as she puts it around her neck again, it's warm pulse matching that of her heart "I could rent her a room in the tavern for now. I'll look after her too if needs be." Ava couldn't help but feel sorry for the girl and she wasn't going to just leave her alone on an empty farm this far away from town. Her father was dead and even if he was alive there'd be no one to protect her. "Or if you prefer you can take her to your home and look after her it's completely up to you Sir" she'd never had to call anyone 'Sir' before and even as the word left her mouth she felt silly for saying it but she had been raised to respect those of higher status than her

"Leave? Wait," Chandler mumbles, rolling out of the elf's hold. She didn't mind that she'd fallen to the floor. It made it better for her to find her way to the heap of hay she called her bed. She tapped her hands around on the ground, trying to keep her eyes as wide open as she can. She finally felt the thin pieces of hay. She digs her hand through the pile, trying to search for the card. She hid the tarot card in the hay, because she was always afraid her father would find it and destroy it, sell it, give it away, anything.

The tarot card was given to Chandler by her mother, before she died. It's said that with elven magic, the card releases an army of half-angel, half-human beings, used to complete any mission their caller has for them. Chandler never understood why her mother gave it to her. She found it foolish. But, she kept it. It's the only memory she has of her mother.

Chandler finally finds the card, pulling it out. "Found it," she breathes out, holding it tightly. Her grip loosens slightly as her eyes shut completely. She's asleep, her head laying on the stack of hay.

@Quinlan63 @Katie Jensen

"A tarot card? I wonder why she wanted to grab that so badly. No matter, make sure she has it before we move. We still need to decide where we're taking her because we can't just leave her here like this." Ava walks over to Chandler's unconscious form and picks the card up. It obviously meant something the girl so she would keep it safe for her. She looks at the tarot and shakes her head it feels like it's buzzing with energy but that's probably just the ale affecting me. Ava turns to Ambrose once again and then looks at the floor where Chandler's father had be lying "I'll keep her card safe but like I said, we need to decide where she's going."
