As the fall season came to a close, the winter season started with a rough beginning. Clouds moved along the sky white speckles falling from them, pilling on the ground and nearby mountains in a soft cold blanket of white snow. cold crisp gusts of wind blew throughout the land whilst plants died of frostbite. The sun peaked over the horizon. Orange, yellow and pink hues softening into light blue. IMG_1492.png The snowstorm came to a brief close. The clouds disappeared and the sprinkles of snow disappeared. The sun beamed over the area doing little to ease the cold air that prickled the living, a small village near the mountains buzzed with some amounts of activity. The small, yet active village of Myatheville was one of the first villages to begin preparations for the incoming event bound to lead the Rotian population to millions of deaths as the threat of the freeze looked overhead. Rotia had roughly two weeks time to prepare for the on slot of numerous more monster attacks. In one of the houses scattered around the village. On a cot on the floor a blonde haired woman laid down. Being able to awaken, a nearby fire place glowed with warmth as its orange and yellow lights filtered the room, a masked woman turned her head to Aedrianna.

“About time you woke up, that group of foreigners found you. You are lucky you didn’t need end up scumming to frostbite or hypothermia.”

IMG_1494.png Elsewhere in the village, just outside the cathedral, it was on a smaller scale. Remained the tallest and largest building in Myathevale. a small metal fuller sat outside in front of the left side of the stone building. people brought forth crates full of supplies to it, back and forth from it. The preperation of a long journey from the small. Once they were done gathering up the items they need in addition to any extra or emergency fuel. IMG_1493.png
A wolf-beast that was helping organize the mission at hand was talking to one of its members, a winged construct about the goal of the small village.

“Get the cargo to Hornbach. They are expecting the supplies and aid, get a head the rest of Myathevale will follow behind in suite once we get everyone and the horses prepared. Is your group prepared to make the trip?”

Griffin responded to the question. “Should be, waiting for a few more people to join in the supplies escort. How’s she doing by the way Nicholas?”

Nicholas told him, “according to Jane your friend has warmed up, no longer experiencing the symptoms of frostbite.”

Griffin nodded. “Alright, I am liable to check on her before I head out with the group. Still have no idea how she made it to Rotia. Last we wrote to each other she was attending a fair in Ryke.” IMG_1371.png

Kōmori rubbed her hands together to create some warmth from the friction as she cupped them, brought them to her mouth, and exhaled before rubbing them together again. The trip up here had been uneventful, to say the least, well, besides finding the woman in the snow that the group leader seemed to know. However, that left several questions in her mind about who she was and why they seemed so shocked to find them here. She pushed many of the thoughts to the back of her mind; she pushed herself off the cathedral wall as she watched the hauler being loaded with supplies and some of them being removed. To which she cocked her head a little and then walked over to where the group leader and the wolf man were talking.
The nodachi on her back swayed slightly as she walked, as her white hair blew in the wind as some of the snow was kicked up. "Bossman, I thought the hauler was going to be traveling with the main group that was going. Though what makes Hornbach a better place to go?" Kōmori inquired as she pointed back over to the hauler for a moment. She had never been to this side of the continent before, let alone in the Kingdom of Rotia, which she knew very little about. Afterall, she tended to stay on the eastern half of the continent. She felt as her boots made crunching sounds in the snow and sunk in a little as she walked.

"On top of that what are we expecting in terms of resistance, bandits? Monsters? Bandits and monsters? Random rabid werewolves?" Kōmori asked as she stopped about a foot away from Griffin and the wolf man. Though these were questions that needed to be answered, though she didn't particularly care what they ran into so long as no one got in her way of cutting the thing down. She wasn't adverse to having some collateral damage should someone get in her way in the middle of an attack. But for the moment that was neither here nor there and she had the movement to be ready for anyway. "Plus who is that girl that we found on the way up here anyway?" She added another question to the pile.

Curse this wretched cold.

Stomping through the thick snow and slush, Baharius trudged hardily through the rough environment with purposeful intent. Despite being warm-blood (contrary to what others may thing) the saurian usually had little interest or intent to go further up north into the chilly north. He preferred hotter and wetter climates, which spinosaurians like himself typically preferred to live. Even so, his thick blubber-like hide was enough to keep his inner-body from completely freezing over... accompanied with a large cloak that he threw on himself to shield himself. If anything, his tall sail would do best to absorb any sort of sunlight it could to make himself all the bit warmer. Nevertheless it would finally a relief to make it to a civilized village, one alive and hard at work.

However, he wasn't alone on this trek. He was recruited into this situation by a vaguely familiar face... one he hadn't seen since booking a trip to a certain uninhabited island. Having merely ran into Griffith as he was on his way back from a minor quest in the Continental Lake, Baharius was told that he was on their way to see operations up in Rotia. He was going to help with their preparations the "Big Freeze", an annual event where the ocean freezes between the second and main continent every winter forming what was essentially a temporary land bridge. Unfortunately, this allowed monsters from the second continent to migrate here, resulting in major casualties for the Rotians... who acted as the last bastion standing between them and being overrun. They currently had two weeks to prepare.

Should they fall... the whole continent may follow. At the very least many more deaths were to follow. And while Rotia withheld for many winters, any and all help's more than appreciated to limit these deaths.

With no other mission currently at his helm, coupled with wanting a change of scenery, Baharius would accept the offer to help and proceeded to accompany him there. Perhaps in a sense, Baharius was itching to finally lead a proper force rather then be ordered around for a change. Something he hadn't properly done since his time at the previous world...

Though while the trip there was relatively uneventful, they did come across the body of a woman face down in the snow. Baharius also recognized her. The name escaped him, but he remembered her present at that one test in the city of Azuran. She looked... well, pretty rough all things considered. Something seemed different about her too, though he couldn't pinpoint what exactly. Still she was certainly lucky they found her. The saurian offered to carry her to the village to be treated for her condition, dropping her off in one of the small houses next to a warm fireplace. Baharius wanted to stay and comfort Aedri, as well as warm himself up by the fire, but duty called and thus he went.

Ensuring the villagers were doing their jobs, as well as keeping an eye out for any hostiles lurking in the forests, the saurian found himself close to where Griffin, Kōmori and a wolf-beast leader were conversing with one another. Hearing the oni ask who the girl was, Baharius couldn't help but speak up.

"I've seen her before." Baharius stated, "We were in a... test of sorts in Azuran some months back. I remember she took quite a beating during the process... but miraculously, she was able to pass. Wonder what she's doing way out here... I don't think it's for the same reason we're here."

As the others gathered themselves, things were slowly fading into focus for the young blonde girl laying on a cot. She pushed herself up with a faint grunt, dull blue eyes blinking in the glowing light of the fireplace. For a long moment she was quiet, only looking around the small room in mild confusion. It took perhaps a bit too long for her to realize that she'd been spoken to. Her attention drifted from the fire to gaze at the woman. Thin blonde brows furrowed together as she studied the other body in the room. However, no words came from her lips. Just a curt nod, with a soft but obviously forced smile.

Instead, the young blonde seemed to be more interested in studying her surroundings. The same confused expression marring her expression. After a moment of observing her surroundings, her dull blue eyes drifted down to her hands. The reaction was abrupt, confusion melting into consternation. Pale delicate hands lifted up to eye level, twisting around in slow motion as she inspected them. As if she didn't recognize the back of her own hand. Then a few blonde strands of hair fell forward, over her shoulder.

She reached up to the strands, slowly taking them in her hands and observing a few extra colorful locks of hair.

"What happened to my hair?!" Her voice came out somewhat broken at first. But as soon as the words fell from her lips, she clasped a hand to her throat and lips. Utter shock and disbelief clear on her face, and for a second she was absolutely still. Staring into the distance as if trying to remember something. When she finally moved again, it was to look at the woman who had spoken to her. Carefully, almost reverently; she spoke to the woman. "I am so sorry to be rude... May I ask where I am?"

V-CXI

After his messy interaction with the Bug Hive in the east, V figured he wasn't going to find much for his own objective. As kind as Alexas was to an "Irregular". He had lost his savior, who tried running away from battle, but he found later... after the bugs did. Unsavory memories aside, the rook decided to travel north. No point looking for his old residence. There was no longer anything there.

A few train, cart, and on-foot travels later, he found himself in Rotia. Cold place, rough, filled with seasonal dangers seen nowhere else. It might be possible to find a proper instructor here. Maybe even a skilled mechanic. But after tagging along with a group, what he found was a woman that miraculously lived through passing out in such cold temperatures.

By the looks of it, the rest of the group was more focused on aiding with some sort of mission. It seemed like the process of hiring heads for a cause was way simpler these days. They left to chat with the head of the operation, while V stayed in the house, looking over the girl. "⠎⠕ ⠽⠕⠥ ⠁⠉⠞⠥⠁⠇⠇⠽ ⠇⠊⠧⠑⠙" The mass of metal leaned forward, with his glitchy audio leading his eye pattern yet again "⠁⠍⠁⠵⠊⠝⠛ ⠺⠕⠗⠅ ⠙⠕⠉⠞⠕⠗" his face turned to the floor "⠊ ⠗⠑⠁⠇⠇⠽ ⠝⠑⠑⠙ ⠁ ⠍⠑⠉⠓⠁⠝⠊⠉" It was somewhat understandable that what he just said brought his mood down.

Upon witnessing the confusion on Adrianna. Jane sat next to her on the cot,

“Calm down and relax.” Jane answered before mumbling a small incantation. A gentle small ball of light hovered over her finger which she used to test pupil dilation.

“Hmmm…seems fine there. Mind following my finger with your eyes? I am checking in the case you procured a concussion.”

She proceeded to perform a brief analysis before the the light on her finger flickered out. Jane opted to use a weaker level healing spell.

“There, that should take care of any additional injuries you could have had. What’s the last thing you remember?”IMG_1494.png
She inquired, then answered Aedrianna’s question.

“I do not. You are in a small village called Myatheville. Located in the eastern corner of the country of Rotia. What happened to your hair…I think you did that? One of the foreigners who claimed to be a friend yours mentioned something about hair dye. However if you wanted to remove the dye I fear we lack the means to do that. Most of the village is packed up and preparing to migrate to the capital for a better chance at surviving this years freeze.”

Jane turned to the construct in the room. Trying to decipher what he was saying yet failed to comprehend the noises V-CXI made. She stood up and grabbed a pile of parchment from the table, removing the pieces that was scribbled with medical diagnoses, then handed the empty parchment a pen and ink to V-CXI.

“I am sorry, I do not understand. Perhaps you can write down what you mean instead? The ink is made to handle the winter temperatures. Just make sure to keep it shaken up.” IMG_1557.png Develius Develius saxon saxon

Nicholas turned to Kōmori, answering her question.

“Hornbach is our capital and one of the cities better defended against the freeze, it is also the center of Rotia’s defenses. They have many new recruits that need training. That is where our supplies of rations and weapons will be going. As well as fine-tuning the defenses ahead of time with the invasion in mind. You, Griffin, Baharius, The other construct, and the students will be heading there out of priority. Myatheville will follow suit this isn’t the first time this village has migrated to the capital for the winter. It is practically an annual routine. Hornbach is where our firepower is. As for what we are expecting, Medium to high-level monsters. Criminals who have been caught are put in the army automatically to fight against the invasion. Bandits we are less likely to run into on the way. I guess while the chances are slim they aren’t impossible I recommend if you do bump into criminals try not to kill them they can be used as fodder.”
IMG_1371.png
Griffin was the one to answer her question involving Aedrianna. “That was Aedrianna, a friend of mine from awhile back she helped eliminate one of those bug nests that was found between Ryke and The Otezian Empire. I don’t know why she was in Rotia, as she was visiting Ryke during a festival. And presumably went back to the republic.”

After Baharius spoke. Griffin mentioned “familiarity tends to make some jobs easier. I’m going to go check on her, you guys can either sit inside the fuller with the rest of group or follow me. I am going to make sure she is okay before we head off as well as bring…I should figure out a nickname for him until we can find a way for him to speak, but our other construct companion. I trust she’ll be safe traveling with the Myatheville citizens?”

He asked turning to Nicholas. “I’ll need to see if we have enough horses. If not she may end up with your group.”

Griffin nodded. “Alright, got it. Thanks for the information sir.”

Griffin left. Making the small trip to the nearby houses. Knocking before entering the house.

“Hope I am not intruding?” He asked. The turned to Aedrianna.

“How are you feeling? It’s been a bit, what are you doing in Rotia anyway? I was worried sick when I found you! I thought you were somewhere in Ryke or Nan gau! But you were in Rotia slowly freezing to death?—“

He sighed. “I should wait to lecture you really. Now is probably not the best of times for it. I’m glad you seem to be doing alright Aedrianna, at least according to Jane’s diagnosis.”

The girl’s dull blue eyes blinked owlishly, her gaze following the glowing orb hovering at the woman’s fingertip. The faint light cast dancing shadows on the walls of the small room, painting it with an almost dreamlike quality. Her lips parted slightly, a glimmer of wonder breaking through her otherwise confused demeanor. When the light flickered out, she seemed to wilt, disappointment pulling at her delicate features.

“Your finger… glowed?” she whispered, her voice soft and careful, as if testing each word for stability. Surprise flashed across her face with every syllable. “That’s… magic?” The question hung in the air, her brows furrowing as a fleeting wince crossed her face. She shook her head slowly, as though trying to dislodge a thought that didn’t belong. Her fingers absently twisted a lock of her blonde and colorful hair, her expression a mix of bemusement and denial. “No… no, I assure you, I would never bleach my hair,” she added with a nervous laugh, though it faded quickly, leaving an unsettling silence in its wake.

The quiet was broken by the strange, stuttering noises from the armored figure in the corner. The girl turned her wide eyes toward it, staring with the same owlish intensity, her confusion deepening. “Y-your… robot is broken,” she murmured, her tone half a question, half a statement. The words trembled on her lips as though she feared the machine might respond.

The door creaked open then, the sound scraping through the tense quiet of the room. When Griffin stepped inside, the girls eyes went straight to his tawny wings and lion paws. Fully fixated on them, her expression one of awe and unspoken curiosity.

When he spoke her name—Aedrianna—her reaction was immediate. A sharp wince contorted her face, her hand flying to her head as if warding off an invisible blow. She squeezed her eyes shut, her breaths shallow and uneven. For a moment, the only sounds were the crackling of the fire and the soft hum of wind beyond the walls. Slowly, hesitantly, she opened her eyes again. Her gaze settled on Griffin, studying his face with an intensity that bordered on desperation.

Then, with visible hesitation, she stretched out a trembling hand toward him. The gesture was tentative, almost fragile, as if she feared it might shatter the fragile moment. “My name is Nozomi Hikari,” she said, her voice steady but tinged with uncertainty. “I’m sorry… you look familiar for some reason, but I can’t place your name.”

Her brow furrowed slightly as she continued, her words slower, more deliberate. “I don’t think I understand half of what you’re saying. Ryke? Frozen? I…” Her voice faltered, and she took a shaky breath. “I was in the hospital… dying of throat cancer. I thought… I thought I’d never sing again. But now… now I’m here?” She shook her head, her confusion deepening as her gaze flicked around the room, searching for answers in the flickering shadows.

Despite the turmoil in her expression, a warm, hopeful smile graced her lips as her eyes returned to Griffin. “You found me? I suppose I owe you my gratitude, then… friend?” Her voice softened on the last word, her tone carrying both uncertainty and a faint glimmer of trust.

Ahhh, that was her name. Aedrianna. Nearly on the tip of his tongue, frankly. Or at least that's what Baharius believed. Though as Griffin mentioned the bug nests and her involvement, Baharius' expression froze suddenly as memories of his involvement flooded back to him. "She was present during the offensive?" the saurian replied, his tone showcasing a significant amount of concern. The tone of someone who was actually present in it. The saurian lowered his head as he found himself deep in thought, before plunging his massive sword into the snow. "I was also there..." he started off, explaining his experiences in a low tone. "As part of Rico's Raid. "Rico's Roughnecks" as we were so charmingly called. She wasn't with us though. We were tasked to... push forth into the cavern depths to ensure the other teams had a clear shot towards the core. It was a brutal endeavor - a suicide mission by all accounts. Though whatever gods were watching over us, our team had only suffered minimal casualties... one casualty out of us six. Admittedly we didn't expect such luck to be in our favor."

There was a pause as Baharius rose his head to stare out at the village below. "The same couldn't be said for the others. I don't know all the details nor who else had perished... as I've left out shortly after being compensated... but I've overheard several teams being nearly if not completely wiped out. Even heard of a supply line being ransacked by a... squabble of some sort." He harkened back to memories about the chaotic aftermath of the offensive, trying to recall what he heard from the spare conversations within the chaos. Some notable sentences revealed themselves being expressed by eastern soldiers, fae generals, and all in between. He didn't remember hearing any mention of Aedri, though he wouldn't doubt Griffin's claim of her being present. The saurian sighed as he turned towards Griffin and the group. "If Aedrianna was involved in any of the other conflicts..." he continued, "She's lucky to have made it out alive."

Baharius rose a hand as Griffin offered for him to visit Aedrianna. "Thank you, but go on ahead without me." he politely declined, "I'll let her rest easy for now. Will talk to her later."

Now alone with Kōmori and Nicholas, the spined saurian heard the former ask about their current objectives. Their task, according to Nicholas, was to escort supplies and weapons to the capital Hornbach to prepare for the big freeze. Medium to high-level monsters and criminals are to be expected, though he was told that the latter are to be spared and used as fodder. A grim fate for the convicted, especially how it was phrased, but given the rough circumstances they were in now any man willing to pick up weapons were better than none. At least they would have a one-way ticket to fighting for a just cause... a final redemption before meeting the gods above or hells below.

"I'd be willing to help training the new recruits once we get to the capital." Baharius offered generously towards their employer with a nod, "If they're in need of any that is. Needless to say, we'll get everyone there in one piece. You can count on us."

Kōmori listened as Nicholas as he answered her question; she gently bit her lower lip for a second as she processed the information. "So I take it then the Kingdom does not have the manpower in order to stop the creatures from crossing the bridge let alone defend its villages." She paused momentarily and looked back at the fuller as it was still loaded with the requested materials. "If they have the firepower to hold the invasion off, why not stop them at the crossing then?" She inquired on the matter further. To her, it seemed like the best course of action would have been to build defenses at the crossing based on her knowledge of warfare (Warfare F). She simply shrugged her shoulders at the mention of the criminals being used as fodder. "If they swing at me, I make no promises," She replied nonchalantly. She didn't care if it was a roadblock but sliced through it. She didn't care about capturing criminals, but she wouldn't hold back if they wanted a fight.

As Baharius spoke but didn't add too much as to who exactly the woman was other than he recognized the woman. But the information that was given to her by the large lizard man didn't help her come to any conclusions. So she simply just filed it away further back into her mind until she could use the information in some relevant way on the matter at hand. If it could be used at a later time.

Asbossman explained who the blonde individual was, Kōmori simply nodded her head, taking it at face value. So long as the individual in question wasn't going to stab them all in the back, she was fine with letting it rest. "So a friend of yours that went missing.......interesting and not suspicious at all." She concluded on the matter before drawing her nodachi and driving the tip of the two-handed blade into the snow. She started to inspect the blade for a few moments as Griffin had decided to go check up on Adrianna.

She drew her sword from the snow and returned it to its place as she moved back toward the fuller and waited for the others to be ready to start the trek to the capital city.

The mechanic being quickly picked up the tools given to him. "⠞⠓⠁⠝⠅ ⠽⠕⠥" he said with a nod. After a few moments of staring at the blank parchment, he quietly said "⠊ ⠞⠓⠊⠝⠅ ⠊ ⠉⠁⠝⠞ ⠺⠗⠊⠞⠑ ⠑⠊⠞⠓⠑⠗". The rook shook his head and wielded the pen. Pictures will have to do, he thought.

V shook the ink vial as instructed and got to work. He drew a simple sketch of himself with cracks in his outer plates, and then crossed it out. He followed with a silhouette of a person with their mouth open with waves in front of it, and made a small cross in the figure's throat. He showed the pictures to the people inside, and pointed to his own throat as it shook his head. His voice struggle was a bit more complex than a few vocal components needing repair, but it'll do for now.

“Yes, though I lack any reasoning as to why that is confusing. Magic makes the world go round, living creatures wouldn’t exist without mana after all.”

Jane told Aedrianna, before inquiring. “Bleach? The only artificial coloring I see is the pinks and blues.”

She says in a simple statement. When V-CXI attempted to communication through the method Jane provided into an attempt to help she nods.

“Need a mechanic? We don’t have any here in Myatheville, I imagine one of the Luminary students have experience with fixing constructs or there are some in Hornbach. Unfortunately we do not have time to hire one from Widersia.”

She then responded to Griffin.

“Not intruding.” IMG_1371.png Though Aedrianna’s word confused Jane for lack lf a better description it more or less hit Griffin like a truck. Although it wasn’t like he was unfamiliar with the confusion before—he still didn’t know how long he stayed in the warehouse before leaving, deciding on a new name. It didn’t mean he liked the implications of what happened.

“Nozomi…my name is Griffin or Aurora whatever you prefer to call me, we meet awhile back remember? At the hive nest, I have the letter you sent me if you wanna see it…”

He didn’t know if she would recognize her own hand writing. “I don’t even know if it matters now, I think I understand what happened. I have theories but you aren’t Aedrianna currently or anymore anyways. Though I’ll still keep you safe. “

Maybe the throat cancer part struck home a little to hard. “..you as well huh? I died from Lung Cancer in my past life. I was sixteen when it happened. I woke up a year or so ago in a abandoned warehouse around the outskirts of a country called Ryke. I can tell you what I’ve learned about this world if you choose to stick around. But this life is a new one, and this world is different from earth. Adjusting is difficult at first. But I can help you if you let me.”

He’d grieve over Aedrianna later, but his priorites lied with the members of his group, this village and the people of Rotia at the moment.

“Winter has begun, we are in a country called Rotia, it is one of the most dangerous countries due to an event that happens every winter. The rivers freeze and monsters move in to attack to kill, to raid. And even when it is over the country remains with a high monster population. I and a group of students from a country referred to as The Grand Duchy by most who attend it’s academy have come here to help with the freeze as well of the likes of a fae named Kōmori and a beast named Baharius…and him. I need a name for you.”

It was decidedly best to fill her in. Or so He believed. He mentiomed the name part pointing at V-CXI.

%can you speak analog?% was what he asked the construct.

Jane made a ‘ahem’ noise.

“Brushing off the absurd claims of multiple lifes, and whatever this ‘cancer’ is. She is good to go though I think she hit her head at some point. Her memories are out of sorts at the moment. And the unnamed construct needs a mechanic, he lacks vocal parts and seems to be damaged.”

Griffin nodded. “I’ll ask one of the students if they know anything.”

Jane told V-CXI “You can keep the parchment, pen and ink. Just keep the ink shaken up regularly when you are out.” IMG_1557.png saxon saxon Develius Develius Rev IX Rev IX Develius Develius

After getting the students, Kōmori and Baharius to the fuller Nicholas went towards Jane’s home after checking on the number of horses and supplies to gather the rest up. He opened the door.

“Alright, the horses are ready. They are only waiting for you Jane unfortunately there isn’t enough horses for everyone so your patient is joining . Griffin, Construct and…What’s your name? Please come with me.
We are about to head out everyone else is in the machine and ready to go.”

The group would leave through the fresh blanket of snow leaving foot prints behind. Getting into the fuller a human with blonde hair manned the controls.

“Took you two long enough slow pokes! Oh she’s awake. Hiii my name is Charlotte! You may not remember…because you were out cold. But I’m the pilot of the fuller.”

She was one of the many people inside the machine. She started up the machine and its engine roared to life, the party left the scene IMG_1493.png
“Could’ve done a head count…” a lizard person mentioned.

Griffin asked the both of them. “Charlotte, Demetrius students in general do you have someone who is familiar with machinery?”

The group pointed towards the only Fae in their party. “ I do, what’s the issue? No problems with the fuller right?”

He shook his head. “No, fortunately Marrianne. he could just use some vocal repairs or fixing apparently he is missing components.” He spoke referring to V-CXI.

“Got it.”

Then the alarm went off. Griffin took out his bow. Charlotte spoke up.

“Wait! False alarm..I think. I accidentally hit the wrong button.”

COMBAT STARTS NEXT ROUND.

Baharius ensured to help round up the remaining students before they'd depart through the bitter cold ahead. Supply crates were checked and the horses were assembled into line. Everything must be accounted for and nothing of necessity to be left behind. Once that was finished, he formed up with the rest of their possy at Jane's home to make the final arrangements. He noticed that Aedrianna was awake... confused but lucid. The saurian's faced flickered in relief being glad to see she was in good condition. "Glad you're awake Aedrianna," he said towards her with a nod of his head, totally unaware of her actual condition, "I wasn't expecting to see you so soon after the trial in Widerisa. And I've been told you were present during the bug raids to the East. So was I. What happened on your end?"

As they were readying to leave, Baharius found himself inspecting the odd bipedal construct that one of the humans was piloting. Mechs like her's were rare in his homeworld and aside from several self-automatons he'd seen here in his travels, this would be his first time looking at a pilot-operated mechanical warrior. This so called "Fuller" was certainly an impressive machine. It was boxy in shape yet sported two multi-barreled guns that looked as if they could dish out some heavy firepower. Or perhaps bolster out bursts of flame and fire? He wasn't quite sure... though he supposed its capabilities would be demonstrated if they encountered any opponents in their travels. He watched as the pilot got in and attempted to boot it up before proceeding to get inside it.

Baharius overheard a disgrunted lizardman scoffing at how she could've done a headcount before they left. "Everyone's accounted for." the saurian confirmed, taking one last look at everyone nearby. He tried to remember how many he counted initially, "Just stay close and don't stray too far from us. The last thing we want is-" Then an alarm blared out as Baharius cocked his head towards the mech. Combat this early in? How unexpected. Unsheathing his blade, Baharius readied himself for potential combat, even as Charlotte called out thinking it was a false alarm that she pressed the wrong button.

"You THINK?" he called out as he strutted next to the Fuller Mech. He then began looking around their position for any signs of potential trouble, taking several deep breaths [Heightened Sense: Smell D] just to ensure they weren't in immediate danger against any hidden enemies.

Kōmori remained near the rather strange method of travel they were going to embark on soon enough. In her mind, it seemed like a train but lacked the rails that would be required. She made a small circle around the fuller, examining the machine. She noted the weapons on the arms of the device; the multiple barrels reminded her of a Gatling gun, though she was unsure if such a thing would work here. She paused there for a moment as she attempted to get a better idea about the whole machine in general by using her Appraisal D. She turned back to speak to Baharius but she saw that he was walking off.

She continued to watch over the crates and supplies until she saw the group making their way back to the fuller. Upon getting in, the fuller positioned herself close to the door, which everyone had to enter. It was her first time in such a place, and she wasn't sure how reliable the thing was actually going to be, seeing the machine itself. As the pilot was introducing herself, Kōmori spoke up, "So what are the odds of this thing breaking down? I mean I'm sure the whole thing works fine but you never know." She inquired as they were soon on the way heading toward their destination.

As the lizard man spoke, Kōmori rolled her eyes,
"If you want a head count, you can do it yourself unless you're saying you can't count." She tossed the idea at the individual in question and was about to continue to bully the man until the alarm went off. When the pilot called, it was a false alarm. She cocked her eyebrow as she saw drew her blade much like her other companions and looked out of the mech, trying to see if she could see anything that was coming towards them or worse at them.

Blue eyes glittered as Aedrianna—if that was even her name—watched Griffin speak. She studied him with the intensity of someone trying to piece together an ancient riddle, her gaze lingering on his every movement. There was a strange familiarity about him, something that tugged at the edges of her mind, though she couldn’t grasp it fully. When he stated she wasn’t Aedrianna anymore, her expression flickered—confusion, bewilderment, and wonder chasing one another across her face like shadows in firelight. She clung to his words as he explained their predicament, each detail weaving a tapestry of this strange new world she now inhabited.

Before she could dwell too long, the group began their march toward the fuller waiting outside. Aedrianna, unsure of what else to do, reached for a jacket that had been folded neatly on the bed she awoke on. The soft fabric smelled faintly of woodsmoke, a comforting scent amidst the chaos in her mind. She pulled it tightly around her shoulders and followed the others out into the crisp winter air.

As they walked, her steps naturally aligned with the construct who had drawn the peculiar pictures earlier. She glanced at him, tilting her head in silent curiosity before finally speaking. “I suppose you and I have something in common,” she said softly, her voice warm and understanding. “I know how it feels not to have your voice.” A faint smile played on her lips as she looked ahead, her words quiet and almost wistful. “I lost mine once. A sickness. I thought… I thought I’d never use it again.”

Her pace slowed as her eyes took in the snowy expanse before them, her thoughts spilling out in an unguarded murmur. “But this? This is more than I ever imagined. Magic. A new life. A world so… alive. It’s overwhelming, but it’s exciting too. Don’t you think?” She glanced at the construct, her smile softening. “Even if it’s all strange and unfamiliar… it’s a second chance.”

The group came to a halt near the fuller, its large, mechanical frame looming against the snowy backdrop. Aedrianna’s gaze was drawn to the massive saurian who approached them, his imposing figure at odds with the warmth in his voice.

She blinked, her expression polite but puzzled. “It’s good to see you too… sir?” she replied, her tone tentative yet genuine. Her eyes flicked between him and Griffin as she continued. “I find it odd that you and....Aurora," She tested the name on her lips, beore continuing. "feel so familiar to me while everything else is so strange and alien.” She hesitated, her lips curving into a faint smile. “But I’m grateful for your kindness.”

As they boarded the fuller, Aedrianna couldn’t help but gape at its interior. Her wide-eyed wonder probably earned her a few amused glances, but she hardly noticed. The hum of the machinery, the strange blinking lights, and the sheer novelty of the experience filled her with an almost childlike delight. She greeted the students and the fae woman, Kōmori, with a bright smile, her energy infectious despite the tension that seemed to linger in the air.

Settling into her seat, she leaned slightly against the cool wall of the fuller, her gaze darting around to absorb every detail. She was just beginning to feel at ease when the alarm blared, jolting her upright. Her blue eyes widened as she looked around in alarm, only to hear Charlotte’s sheepish admittance of pressing the button on accident.

Aedrianna blinked, then let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. “So there are tech-malfunctions in this world too?” she quipped lightly, her voice laced with humor. She relaxed back into her seat, her gaze drifting to the snowy landscape outside, her thoughts already wandering to what other wonders—or dangers—this new life might hold.

V-CXI

V's head tilted when the masked woman offered an answer to his thoughts accurately. "⠊⠝⠞⠑⠗⠑⠎⠞⠊⠝⠛" he hummed. Then the rook nodded slowly "⠧⠑⠗⠽ ⠇⠊⠅⠑⠇⠽ ⠽⠑⠎" By then, one of the... men? The men that were with his group showed up. V stared blankly at him. What he just said sounded remotely similar. Something about speaking something? the construct shook his head. This guy certainly wasn't speaking something he truly understood.

By now, V was starting to give up on trying to reach someone with his native language. So the doctor's statement was answered with a more confident nod, and a customary "⠞⠓⠁⠝⠅ ⠽⠕⠥".

V listened intently, and decided to go for the drawing first. He roughly drew two figures facing each other, with the same waves as before "⠥⠝⠙⠑⠗⠎⠞⠁⠝⠙⠊⠝⠛ ⠊⠎ ⠛⠕⠕⠙" Then as the lady continued so did he. He stared at her features for a moment, and drew an old human's face, a small, rough and simplistic landscape, and a blooming flower. "⠍⠑" he pointed at himself then at the face "⠕⠇⠙" Then he pointed at the landscape "⠺⠕⠗⠇⠙" he gestured with his arms spreading outwards "⠃⠊⠛" and then he pointed to the bloom "⠝⠑⠺"

While wondering how much of what he just said made sense, V quietly held to his communication device as he entered the fuller. He kind of got the purpose of the band he got here with. More fighting. While not scared, it was bothersome not remembering how to fight. It was a function of his, wasn't it? Questions of the past aside, a loud alarm made him jump to his feet. He started looking outside the vehicle, wondering if it was actually a false alarm. He surely hoped so, as it didn't look like there were any fighters whose style he could mimic in the meantime.

Charlotte answers Kōmori’s question.
“The chances it’ll break down are slim, chances it could sustain damage are high. Which is why Marrianne is with us. Magic hasn’t been the only thing she’s studying.”

Her answer was laced with distraction as she looked through the systems in an attempt to search for what was triggering the alarm or if there was an attack underway the party couldn’t yet sense. She would be focused on that for a while.
IMG_1660.png “I can count! We just left too quickly, no one was grouped up long enough.” Was Demetrius’s retort to Kōmori’s question. “I would’ve happily done it otherwise.”

Charlotte answered Baharius. “Yes? THINK. You know the word that meanshave a particular opinion, belief, or idea about someone or something.I can’t shut it off and I’m looking for anything that could’ve triggered it or signs of an attack.”

She sighs. Telling Aedrianna. “Yes, though only a few countries have the kind of tech that can malfunction like this. The advanced stuff for the most part is from our— Demetrius, Marrianne and I’s home country The Grand Duchy of Roran. Or the small country trapped in this lil nook between The Fae See and The Otezian Empire named Widersia. Though I don’t think we have anyone from there here, their entire thing is non-magical equipment.” her eyes did not lift from the control panel.

IMG_1659.png
A bracelet on Demetrius’s wrist glowed, a charm shaped like a crescent room flickered with a vague blue light. He murmured an incantation in beastial, a gentle looking dark blue color encased the fuller into an protective barrier solidifying.

Demetrius spoke “I refuse to let us go under sage easily. That should at least prevent our vessel from sustaining damage for the fuller attack.”

Marrianne sighed. “Sorry…eh..unnamed.” She told V-CXI. “If we are under attack you might need to wait a little longer on those components.”

Charlotte made a ‘ah-ha!’ Sound. “Found it three…medium level monsters if I had to guess, are attempting to attack a corner of the fuller quick little sons of bitches for our big heavy machine! And a lot of them too.”

Marrianne spoke up while Charlotte hit a button and aimed the fuller’s guns at them shooting as much as she could. “Should we stop and fight them off? Dem’s barrier spell surely can’t last the trip…” IMG_1658.png “Would also be easier to pilot if we got rid of them! Demetrius stay inside.” She said stopping the fuller in place.

“All combatants we need a plan.” Charlotte told the others.

Griffin mentioned. “I can bring Baharius, Marianne and Kōmori with me, not sure about Aedri- NOZOMI. Nozomi. I don’t think she remembers how to cast.”

Charlotte mentions “well if she has field experience I’m sure a lil traum— amazing good method thatcan trigger the gears in her brain moving!”

Griffin sighs. “Alright Nozomi stay near me. Every able body out we go! ” IMG_1371.png
Making it out of the fuller the group would see at least ten surviving frog monsters, from Charlotte’s onslot that managed to make it out of view and into one of the fuller’s blind spots. Red and black goop stained the snow following the littered body parts of these strange creatures that nearly matched the height of Baharius. They all instantaneously attempted to strike at the party with their claws.

Aedrianna—or Hikari, as she now remembered herself—sat quietly as the others discussed whether the situation was a false alarm or not. As the fuller rattled slightly, Hikari’s gaze lingered on the sketches the silent construct had drawn. The rough shapes and symbols caught her attention. The figures, the waves, the flower… she tilted her head slightly, trying to piece together their meaning.

“Old? Blooming? Or maybe… Growing?” she murmured to herself, her thoughts chasing shadows of understanding. She glanced up at the construct briefly, offering a faint smile.

“You’re quite the artist,” she said softly, though her tone carried more curiosity than comprehension. As the chatter in the fuller shifted to tension, the girl’s eyes darted from one speaker to another. False alarm or not, the urgency in everyone’s voices made her grip the fur-lined jacket around her tighter. She listened as Charlotte, Demetrius, and the others discussed barriers and monsters, trying to piece together what was happening.

When the fuller stopped, the hum of its guns loud and foreboding, her heart quickened as she listened to Griffin’s words. Nodding dutifully as she was told to follow, she hesitated for a moment before speaking.

“Aurora! Y... you can call me Hikari. Since... we were friends? Are?” The girl’s expression seemed a bit confused and flustered as she tried to string the sentence together.

When they stepped outside, the cold air hit her like a slap, but it was the sight of the monstrous frogs that truly stopped her in her tracks. Their grotesque forms loomed tall, nearly matching Baharius in height, and the red-black goop staining the snow sent a shiver down her spine. Her heart thudded loudly in her chest, but she swallowed hard and tried to find her voice.

“Well,” she said, her voice shaking slightly but carrying a nervous cheerfulness, “at least they’re not mosquitoes, right? That would’ve been so much worse!” She glanced around at the others, her eyes darting from Aurora to Baharius and Kōmori, then to the students inside. “You’ve got this, everyone! I believe in you!” Her smile was shaky but genuine, as though trying to bolster their spirits might steady her own. The words came from her lips without much thought as she looked around.
“Strong we stand, side by side,
Through the snow, our hearts won't hide.
Frogs may leap, and monsters may roar,
But we won't stop til they hit the floor!”

Turning back to Griffin after the little cheerleader chant, unaware of the bit of starlight that emanated from her and dispersed around them; she tugged on his sleeve lightly, her voice soft but determined.

“Aurora, can I help? Do you think… do you think I can use magic? I’ll try anything.” Her gaze searched his, hope and uncertainty warring in her expression as the sounds of battle loomed closer.

Baharius was taken off-guard upon Aedrianna not being able to remember him. Or Griffin and Aurora for that manner. "You do not recognize me? ...Us? I'm Baharius. We were at the training center in Widersia. Did you-?" His eyes narrowed as he attempted to find understanding with her words. She certainly sounded genuine in her response. Hell, she didn't even recognize where she was in the first place. Did she perhaps... bump her head? Get mind-wiped? Actually, now that he thought of it, what exactly DID happen to her at the bug hive operation? Did she get captured by them and get her memories erased? Or was it truly something else entirely? Though out of politeness sake he wouldn't ask these questions directly to her. The saurian would bow his head in courtesy. "Ah... don't worry about it. We're welcome to have you regardless."

As soon as he was out of hearing range from whom he thought was Aedrianna, he turned over to whisper at Griffin. "What happened to her? Did she suddenly get amnesia or something?"

Upon hearing that several monsters were indeed rattling at their doorstep, Baharius gritted his teeth as he prepared for the upcoming battle. Griffin had asked for his service alongside Marianne and Kōmori and he was more than willing to join in. Once they got out of the Fuller, he finally found himself face to face with the enemy. They were a strange bunch with sharp claws and all roughly about the saurian's own height. Baharius snorted at his competition before taking a deep breath and unleashing a powerful [Bestial Roar D] in an attempt to scare them off or at the very least demoralize their efforts.

ROAR

Should they refuse, Baharius would spring into action as he swung his sword at a monster coming his way with a strong horizontal slash. Whether it still stood in his way or should another proceed to attack him, he'd then unleash another powerful sweep to cut his foes down to size.

His attempts at communicating went moderately well, but not enough to consider it a success. So his trip inside the fuller was quiet and uneventful up until the alarm.

Monsters were detected, so like the other fighters, V rushed outside. However, upon seeing the battle beginning to unfold, he realized he still didn't know how to fight. And the masked man wasn't here for him to copy. He looked at the oni, then to the massive reptile. Both held swords. The rook looked down at his hands. He had nothing.

After a few moments of debating, he opted to try the trick that was simple enough for him to act on without someone to copy and an empty combat program. Digging his hands beneath the snow, he ripped a chunk of ice and dirt with [Superstrength], and using said strength and a bit of [Athletics], he tossed it while aiming for a spot where he couldn't accidentally hurt any of the frontliners.

“Alright, Hikari.”

Had Griffin mixed up formalities somewhere? He hoped not, then again she was still gaining life experience. Everything seemed fine as long as he wasn’t offending Hikari. He told Baharius.

“I have theories, well a few hypotheses would be the correct term. I’ll explain them to you both later once we deal with this.”

Griffin reached for his newer, more recently acquired more to prepare an attack against the frog-like monsters. Before he could answer her question a Caster’s circle appeared below Aedrianna. He pulls back his string weakly.

“Kind of like what you are doing now! Way an incantation, channel mana through your body by minorly moving your body around. Stand still as you do it! It is usually much more difficult though when you first begin…”

Maybe, Griffin assumed it was muscle memory. He hummed the tune of the ‘rocking bird’ lullaby, he pretended to shoot three times as he did so the fourth time was followed by a magic [Wind Blast] the frogs that led the attack took the brunt of the spell, their hide leaking red and black goop from open wounds.

Aedrianna/Hikari’s song would make the party feel temporarily inspired for the round. Kōmori’s sword slashed through the thick skin of the sword that attacked her, and another swing of her sword slashed through thick slimy skin. Black and red painted the snow as another cut landed on its chest, the frog was notably weaker. The monster would attempt a follow-up attack against her sluggishly in mimicry of what a frog would do to a fly despite the continued damage being dealt to the creature.

Baharius’s attacks would end on a decent enough note as the result of brute force, his intimidation did little to make his attacker back off, however, he did get a few slices cut into its skin weakening it significantly at the cost of the stability of his Giant great sword, the forcing being too much for his blade to withstand forms began cracking at the base of the blade. The monster would follow up the attack with another claw swipe.
The sword is D grade and Baharius has B grade strength. Due to this, the weapon has begun to show signs of breaking though it is unclear how much longer the blade will stay intact.

V-CXI would manage to bash into it with a fair amount of force with a stone toward its chest, the hit was strong enough to cause some temporary disorientation. IMG_1658.png Marrianne would hand V-CXI a small shaped dagger.

“Not much, but you should be able to manage more direct attacks!”

Before holding her teal floral necklace she spun the charm around murmuring words in Sylvan, the spell pushed back three frog monsters into Charlotres point of view who would get shot by the fuller’s machine guns.

The monster would attempt to attack V-CXI with it’s tongue, just like Kōmori would he’d need to figure something out as to avoid being eaten.

After tossing a rock, and finding it marginally successful, V stood silently for a moment. Trying to come up with some other kind of offensive he could attempt. Just as he turned back to the fight, and attempted to get some more offensive measures done, a monstruous frog tried to trap him with its tongue.

Seeing as he wasn't fast enough to attempt to dodge, he opted for something else. Just as the tongue strike sticked onto him, he planted his feet into the dent left by the rock he had tossed, and leaned back. Baharius' struck with wicked force at his monstrous foes, putting all his weight into each strike as he always done per engagement. At first he didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary in the heat of combat. His foe struck out with a claw swipe of his own, causing the saurian to rase his blade and block it with the flat end. Yet it was in that split moment he noted the damage near the base of his blade itself. Cracks had begun to form at the hilt. A sure sign of wear and tear caused by intense strain on the metal. He began wondering how long had they been there? Surely it had to be recent, right?

Nonetheless, this was a sharp warning that he needed to steady his strength in order to keep his blade in tact. Once this quest was over, he was surely going to get it fixed and reinforced. Whether it would survive the ordeal or not... His grip tensed as he pushed back his foe before raising his mighty blade and slamming it down on its upper body.

The faint shimmer of a caster’s circle appeared beneath Aedrianna’s feet, its soft light pulsing faintly against the snow. Aurora’s words to her—about casting magic—seemed to spark something in her. Her blue eyes widened with excitement as she stared at the glow, her expression alight with wonder. The young woman looked as though she could hardly believe what was happening.

Around her, the battlefield was a flurry of chaos and power. Each of her comrades moved with the confidence and skill of seasoned warriors, their strength a sharp contrast to Aedrianna’s hesitant stance.

Pushing her shoulders back, as if emboldened by the magic circle beneath her and Auroras words, Aedrianna raised her hand, her fingers forming the shape of a small gun. The gesture was almost playful, a stark contrast to the dire scene around her. She aimed at one of the frogs attacking Baharius and struck a dramatic pose, her blonde hair, streaked with color, swaying in the cold wind.

Starlight Shot! Piercing Beam of Justice!” she cried, her voice bright and ringing with determination.

She held the pose for a moment, her finger pointed firmly at the monstrous creature. But nothing happened. The air remained still, the frog unbothered by her declaration. Aedrianna’s confident stance faltered, her arm lowering as a blush crept across her cheeks. She glanced around, visibly flustered, and pulled her jacket tighter around herself as if hoping to disappear into its folds.

She muttered something under her breath—too soft to hear—before stealing a quick look at her companions. Whatever embarrassment she might have felt, her eyes still carried a glimmer of resolve as she straightened her posture. Even if her attempt had failed, it was clear she wasn’t ready to give up just yet.

Notes:

Kōmori felt her blade sink into the frog that was coming at her and then the following two successions of strike continued to cut as she saw the blood from the frog start to emerge. From what she could tell around her it seemed like the others were able to hold their own, so she could at least for the time being focus on what was in front of her. She noticed the sluggish nature of the movement as the creature came in for another strike.

She quickly bathed herself back in the corruption as she went to meet the strike of the frog in the attempt to counter it and quickly followed up with another strike as she brought her sword down for a second time this time a horizontal strike in the hopes that she could cleave the creature.
