Characters and Goals:
Moonberry Moonberry - Aedrianna: Bond, Learn magic and combat, learn about this world
DarkKitsune DarkKitsune - Griffin: bond, teach Aedrianna magic and combat, teach Aedrianna about this world

Residing in the Military base on the outskirts of Hornbach was the fuller The Grand Duchy Students, Griffin, and Aedrianna had traveled in together to get there. Where the others went was unclear. Marrianne went out to help fix the weaponry for the soldiers, and Demetrius aided Authur. And August and Charlotte were nowhere to be seen. So it was just Griffin and Aedrianna—or Hikari—inside of the fuller that doubled as their temporary source of travel and residence.
IMG_1371.png “Where should we start first?” Griffin asked Hikari.

“I can explain the different nations in more detail, I could teach you magic, I can teach you martial combat—I have a spare bow on me you can use. Or we can just talk about things that transported dead people talk about…whatever that is by definition. Whatever you’re most comfortable with!”

Hikari and Griffin were reincarnated—Hikari had no connections to Aedrianna’s memories that Griffin knew of, he also said that to hoped she would establish boundaries for the sake of not accidentally crossing any lines; after all, He had come to terms with her death. Their own death he meant. His death as Aurora and his new life as Griffin. Hikari ..he didn’t know how she fared. He knew it differed on a case-by-case basis—he was reincarnated into a pre-existing vessel much like she was. Kota had been reborn as an entirely newborn person and Ōkami? Who knew? Yukan had been reborn as himself but altered. But coming to terms with things like this wasn’t easy. Especially when she was thrust into very difficult situations recently.

Hikari sat cross-legged on the fuller’s seat, absently running her fingers over the stack of letters resting in her lap. Her gaze flickered toward Griffin as he listed off his suggestions—magic, martial combat, history—but her mind felt distant, untethered. She hadn’t meant to zone out, but the weight of the past few days, the strange dreams, and the unfamiliar emotions they stirred had left her feeling… off.

She blinked, realizing Griffin had finished speaking. With a small shake of her head, she let out a quiet sigh and gave him a sheepish smile.

“Sorry, I wasn’t really paying attention.” She rubbed the back of her neck, looking down at the letters again. “I’ve just been having these weird dreams lately. Not nightmares, exactly, but… unsettling.”

Her fingers traced the edge of an envelope as she tried to put it into words. “Flashes of things I don’t remember. A life that doesn’t feel like mine.” She hesitated before adding, “And one… I don’t know, it was different. I was dancing with someone—a pale man in dark armor. And he—” She cut herself off, shaking her head quickly. “Never mind. It’s probably just my brain trying to make sense of everything.”

Waving a hand dismissively, she straightened up and tapped the letters on her lap. “Anyway, these showed up for me, or, well… for Aedrianna.”

She picked up one in particular, flipping it open. “This one’s from Kota.” A small, fond smile crossed her lips as she scanned the words again. “He wrote just to check in. Said he fought alongside you, actually. Against the Eastern Empire. He sounds like a good guy.” Her voice softened slightly. “He also told me to stop throwing myself into danger, which, honestly? Sounds fair.”

Her fingers lingered on the parchment before she set it aside, picking up another. She frowned slightly, tilting her head as she read through it. “Rios.” She tested the name aloud before looking up at Griffin. “Do you know him? He… he really cared about her, didn’t he?” There was a strange feeling in her chest as she read his words, the way he spoke about Aedrianna with such warmth and longing.

Then, in a complete tonal shift, she grabbed another letter and dramatically flicked it toward Griffin. “And this guy?” Her lips quirked into a smirk as she tapped the signature at the bottom. “Julius Atreus Astolgia, the handsome Red Devil?”

She plucked up one of the absurdly smug portraits attached and held it up for Griffin to see. “Please tell me you’ve met him. He sounds ridiculous.”

Despite the teasing, there was a quiet undercurrent of melancholy as she flipped through the letters. Each one spoke of friendships, connections, a life she wasn’t a part of—but one that people still wanted to keep alive.

She exhaled softly, setting them aside, her fingers curling slightly against the fabric of her dress.

“If I’m going to be here… living in this world, in this body… I want to at least try to honor that.” Her voice was thoughtful, almost hesitant, as if she were still working through the thought herself. “Not just Aedrianna’s memory, but the connections she made. The people who cared about her. I don’t want to pretend to be someone I’m not… but I don’t want to throw all of that away either.”

She let out a slow breath, then laughed lightly, shaking her head. “Ugh, listen to me rambling.”

Looking up at Griffin again, her expression softened into something more determined. “Sorry for talking too much, Aurora. I promise, I can focus now. Teach me everything you’ve got.”

“I understand it completely. When I first arrived, my dreams were very fragmented, reminders of my past life—a life I no longer live. Like hanging around my parents' shop and playing with my little brother. That I assume was a good year or so before my diagnosis. He was still shorter than I was, and we behaved more carefreely. Not the behavior I recall from myself struggling with an illness and a family struggling to pay for the treatment,” Griffin told her.

Sympathy was in his voice. He knew, understood he’d been there with weird dreams. He did question. “That sounds odd… perhaps a message? A warning from those above?”

When Kota was mentioned he laughed. “Yeah! Me and Kota know each other—Aedrianna had met him first though, me and him met on a Kuridan adventurers guild trip to investigate an island, and then after that, we hung out with friends. And made newer friends and acquaintances in Ryke. Then after that to the fae see border to help aid in a war. He’s a lot like me and you. He was also from earth, he got hit by a trunk but unlike us he was reborn as a baby and grew up in this world…then naturally he died again fighting bugs and handling explosives because what else is better? I..sent him a lecture. He was brought back to life but the news still scared mec. Anyway I think you’d like him.” Griffin explains grabbing a letter he had sent out to Kota and handed it to Hikari.

“Rios? Erm. Sort of. Not much of a history there, I met him the same time I met Aedrianna. The difference was me and him didn’t talk to each other much. I’m sure he doesn’t remember me at all quite frankly.”

Then confusion flashed across Griffins face. “Julius astro-wha now?” His eyes looked at the protraits.

“Must be from Roran or Widersia. But no I never met him. I’ll admit he looks a little attractive I suppose. He probably is ridiculous though. And potentially full of himself. I wanna know what on earth he sent you though. “ he mentioned with a laugh.

Her next words caught Griffin’s attention. And he nodded. “I understand that, waking up my memories were scattered. In this body with no known connections clearly abandoned—yet it was obviously made for something. Destined for something. The cases here are different. It is reasonable to want to honor those things that was left behind. And you don’t need to pretend to be someone you aren’t either. There is a balance. It may take time find it, but you will find it and it will be in a way that makes you comfortable and a way that makes you feel like you are honoring the one who was once there. I’m sure if you two had been able to meet you would’ve been great friends.”

Griffin pats her shoulder. “Oh please. I’m a dead teenager remember. I believe if one of us rambles the most it’s gonna be me, besides rambling isn’t a bad thing. Even in battle chitter chatter can provide a distraction. Like making one off comments then throwing your strongest spell to catch the enemy off their guard! In other words— don’t worry about it. If you apologize for ‘rambling’ again I’ll purposefully give you a run for your money in the rambling department with no Apologies!”

He thinks. “Mhm…Maybe it might be best to discuss what this world is like? I could teach you magic first, but the world also hangs in the balance of magic—that and understanding the various nations might be a beneficial first so in the case you cross borders you know what to expect?”

"A warning, huh…?” Hikari murmured, tilting her head thoughtfully as she tapped her fingers against the letter still in her lap. That wasn’t a comforting thought. She’d rather believe the dreams were just… echoes of something, fragments of a life she had no access to. The idea that they were messages, or worse, warnings, made her uneasy. She shook her head. “I don’t know. Maybe. It’s not like I can make sense of them. But if someone is trying to tell me something, they could be a little more direct about it.”

She sighed, setting the letter down and giving Griffin her full attention as he explained his connection to Kota. Her brows lifted at the mention of his… explosive tendencies. “Okay, so what I’m getting is that he’s reckless, stubborn, and a little bit insane. I think you’re right—I’d probably like him.” She smirked before taking the letter Griffin handed her and skimming over it. “Another reincarnated soul, huh… seems like minded people are drawn to each other.” She rolled the letter between her fingers, a distant look passing over her face.

Was this always happening? Souls from other worlds being reborn here, some as babies, some like her, waking up in another person’s body? It was starting to feel like she wasn’t as alone in this as she’d thought.

At Rios’ name, she frowned slightly. “He wrote like he knew me really well…” Her fingers traced the edges of his letter. “I wonder if Aedrianna was that important to him. Or maybe I’m just reading too much into it.” She shook her head, deciding not to dwell on it too much.

Then, Griffin’s reaction to Julius’ letter had her snorting. She picked up one of the pictures of the absurdly smug redhead and held it up. “Oh, you think he might be ridiculous? Griffin, this man sent me a signed portrait of himself. He absolutely knows he’s attractive and is going to make that everyone’s problem.” She let out a small laugh, shaking her head before tucking the pictures back into the letter. “Still, he doesn’t seem bad. Just… a lot.”

She fell silent for a moment, listening as Griffin spoke about finding balance between the past and present, about honoring what was left behind without losing herself. His words were comforting, steady, and for that, she was grateful. She didn’t know if she was anywhere close to figuring it all out yet, but at least she wasn’t completely lost. At least she had people like Griffin to help guide her through it.

When he patted her shoulder, she let out a quiet chuckle, shaking her head. “Alright, alright, I won’t apologize for talking too much anymore. I don’t think I could win against you in a rambling contest anyway.”

At his question, she hummed, considering. “The world, huh?” Her fingers tapped lightly against the table as she leaned back slightly. “I do need to know where I’ll be performing, after all.” Her lips curled into a soft, amused smile. “I don’t care how long it takes, or how much I need to learn first—I’m going to sing all over this world one day.” She exhaled, letting the moment linger before she rolled her shoulders. “But… maybe figuring things out with Aedrianna comes first. I feel...like I'm missing something important about her.” Maybe that was just normal when you took over someone's body?

She turned back to Griffin, her smile shifting into something more determined. “Alright, Aurora. Let’s start with the world. Tell me everything.”

“I know you met Rios after the bug nest in the Otezian-Ryke borders occurred. But only through the Grapevine from Kota. He and Aedrianna were good friends I’d suppose so she would’ve been important. But that’s about all I know.” Griffin says trying to explain Rios.

When it came to Julius he laughed. “He probably isn’t ‘bad’ perse. But seems full of himself. Makes me wonder what he was like as a person, mainly if he is that confident.”

Griffin crossed his arms and nodded at her conceding to his point of apologizing about the rambling, Griffin was self-aware of the habit he had. It was easy to spill so much random knowledge, especially when there were people in the world who understood cause they originated elsewhere like he did…overall. He was still just an excited teenager at heart and they were yet to meet people that could directly keep up. He nods.

“You still have passion for your past career as a singer, and that’s a good sign. Aedrianna she loved singing herself so perhaps you two have more in common then you’d think. I do recommend figuring yourself and Aedrianna’s case out first though. And as far as I know you’ve got time to figure yourself out in the identity sense. Despite I recommend tackling that first before anything…coming from the one that dodged inner confrontation like the plague for a while.”

Griffin took out a map of the world, he didn’t know how to use it for navigation.

“Before I explain the countries let me explain the races. We have five different races in this world….Humans. You’re still one, so I don’t have to explain that one much. Humans are also the first most population, second race are known as ‘beasts’ or ‘beastkin’. They are the 2nd most populated species in this world they are animalistic in appearance and behavior. Think Demetrius and August as examples. Then there are the fae one of the least numerous they are elves, nature spirits and stuff of the like. Marrianne is the first Fae you’ve meet as Hikari. Then constructs, made by humans, we are artificial life. And get treated as tools often despite being public known or believed as sentient. I am a construct though I passed as a beast for awhile. And then monsters, mana amalgamations they aren’t sentient…and rarely smart. Monsters are born evil and constantly attack every other race. Humans, fae, beasts…even some constructs may have disdain or beef with each other but nothing as the mutually upon hatred for monsters.”

He needed to learn navigation but as he was currently he was a wanderer. He used the map to show her the countries.

“This, is Ryke. It is what I’d consider a cultural melting pot. It is neutral grounds in the worst case scenarios like war in other countries, a safe haven. Though its technological advancements are minimal. Think…I believe medival periods? I…err.. don’t remember that lesson all at much but from what I remember seems accurate? Anyway slaving from the inside is illegal but slave owners can enter. Most of Ryke’s population consists of humans and beasts, some fae and constructs here and there. It has a very healthy trading system with other countries,”

He pointed to one of Ryke’s neighbouring countries. “The Otezian Empire, they enslave non humans and have slavery there, though Beasts and Constructs as I know can earn their rights there in the form of a certificate. I do not know if the same applies to the Fae given their history with the neighboring country The Fae See of Chearon. The Otezian Empire reminded me distinctly of what I learned of ancient Greece—or was it ancient Rome? As far as what I’ve heard anyway. I’ve been to a lot of places. But not The Otezian Empire yet.”

He then pointed to the Fae See of Chearon. “Fae supremacy nation, they don’t have laws that allow slavery not make it illegal. but much don’t care unless its their own who gets got. There is some sympathy for constructs, but other races typically aren’t legally guarded especially humans. But due to recent events that may or may not change. They believe in life before all else, this includes plants and the fae are very magic inclined. They are mischievous too. They are led by the Spirit king and his Cardinals. The Chearon doesn’t use currency they trade in equal exchange among items. When it comes to trading with other countries it is not often done. Not a lot of routes and issues trusting. But as of their recent treaty with the Otezian Empire I believe they now trade supplies to each other? Anyway in a recent war that ended I was on the side of the Chearon. maybe I should visit when there isn’t ongoing blood shed.”

Griffin points to another country. “The republic of Kuridan—beast superiority nation. According to a friend named Ōkami it reminded her of ‘home’. And they aren’t nearly as oppressive of most other species like some other countries are. Slavery is illegal, from what I heard they execute Slavers. They don’t like constructs.at.all. But all things considered when I was there working with their adventurers guild I had an ok experience. Aedrianna and her dad lived there actually. Now that I think about, I think they sound a bit like Japan. I think it was feudal japan? They have a shogunate to join if martial prowess is proved. But my memories ar every scattered and I was very sheltered in my past life so I may be corrected.”

He sighed.

“Alright, there are more countries but I don’t want you to get confused—ask questions you might have about them and I’ll answer as best as I can,”
