Fantasy Rosewind Tavern (Walk in Always Welcome!)

"She's lying, her name is Miku." Arrow grinned lazily in the direction of the main table, from where he was throwing his largest knife out a bit and recalling it with practiced ease.

Ishkira looked between them warily, then nodded. "It's nice to meet you, then, miss Temotamiku..."

Temota growled at him"It's not!" She sighed and turned back to Ishkira"Please, Don't call me miss, makes me feel old" She sad jokingly

Shiki poed in"I'm Shikimiriki, but call me whatever you want! I don't mind" He smiled

"She's still lying! Her name is Temotami. Trust me, I've known her for longer."

"I... alright..." The girl turned away, seemingly overwhelmed, and fished a white leather journal from an inner pocket of her coat. She opened her arm up again and retrieved a charcoal, flipping to a new page and starting to draw.

Temota glared at him"I only met you today! You don't now anything about me!" She snapped

Shiki blinked at the scene "If yo're also with us..Get used to this.." He told Ishkira

"Yes, I do, actually." Arrow grinned, holding up a finger. "I know that your name is Temotamiku, but you prefer Temota and are easily aggravated by anything else. I know that princess'll earn me a punch to the face. I know you're an archer, and supposedly rather good. I know you stop bandits. I know what you look like. I know you travel. I know you have no ability in finance or controlling your anger. And, I know that you're really easy to read."

Temota's eye twitched. She held her shaking fist to prevent it from taking off again and just took a deep breath

"Yeah right..For your information, I do have ability in finace, I just don't care about money and I'm not a book you can just read" She snapped

"Aren't you?" He smirked lazily. "Right now you're annoyed, maybe angry? So that means you have a short temper. And, you know, not caring about finance is the same as having no ability in it."

Ishkira just focused on her journal, ignoring everything else and hoping to not get dragged into anything.

Temota glared at him"You don't even know my abilities also I can control my anger. It's just that you annoy the calmness outta me"

Shiki looked over at her journal "What are you doing?"

"Sure, princess, because I totally believe that. Sorry, I need evidence first, before I'm going to believe a claim like that." Arrow rolled his eyes and huffed when a lock of hair fell into his face. He moved to fix it.

"...Drawing..." Ishkira looked up slowly, then back down at her paper, holding a few words in Elvish and what seemed to be pictures of overlapping circles and triangles.

Temota rolled her eyes"Just don't annoy me, If another person does, You'll see how I'll ignore them like second nature..Or maybe because I got mad before coming and haven't calmed down yet" She was rambling to herself

Shiki pointed at the triangles and circles"What are those?"

"Excuses, excuses." He waved a hand and tutted. "I didn't think you enjoyed lying to yourself, too, damn."

"They're... symbols..." She looked away, then back at the paper. "Wardens, that's what I've always called them, I don't know their... actual name..."

Temota slammed the table again"I'm not a liar!" She growled

Shiki blinked and stared at hi twin and Arrow"Keep it down! We're discussing here" He turned back to Ishkira"What do they do? Are they like runes or something?"

"Lie," he intoned carelessly, gazing at his fingernails. "I'll have you know that that's two lies, now, which makes you a compulsive liar."

"Yeah! Like runes, but they draw energy from the air to power them, you don't have to imbue them. There's lots of different formulas. This one is a common warding one, washi, and if you add this-" She drew a line on one of the triangles- "It becomes washita, which is a trap rune. So, you add circles here, and- close your eyes! When you add the circles, if anyone but the person who drew them looks at washita, it blinds them for one hundred and thirty-two seconds." She smiled proudly. "These are wardens native to my tribe. So nobody but us knows the formulas!"

Temota glared at him. This guy was a nuisance, She was starting to really dislike him now.B alling her hands into fists she whispered something under her breath"Ta'abe"

Shiki looked interestingly and closed his eyes quickly. Being blinded definately wasn't fun"Oh..I get it now!" He still kept his eyes closed

"I'm sorry, what was that? Don't lie by omission, now, that'll make three," he said warningly, waving a finger.

She laughed. "I flipped to a new page. The main problem is, the active wards and the passive wards like to conflict... sometimes the passive wards eat the active ones... sometimes it's the opposite... it's kind of annoying..."

Temota glared at him and said nothing. She really hated this guy now. First, he calls her princess, then he calls her a liar, makes fun of her name..How dare he!?

Shiki opened his eyes grinning "So if you use a passive and active one at the same time..It wouldn't work?"

"Well, it depends on what the effects are, and really experienced warders can rewrite the language..." She drew a few circles overlapping and a triangle in the middle. "If you have this, then add whatever you want to it, it means I, or the person writing. So if I, say..." She added a few lines and shapes. "If I do that, then when you look at it, I receive any effect. Right now it's a strength boost, see? Not that I need it." Ishkira laughed. "But," She flipped to a new page and drew a similar setup, "now when you look at it, you get effects. That's what washita is. You- the person reading- sorry, it's hard to translate. You, the person reading, are..." She paused. "Are stolen of the eyes- that's what it is, literally, but it's blinded- while I, the person writing, am safe."

Shiki nodded"Oh..Makes sense. So do other elves have their own wards?"

Temota kept on glaring at him before taking a deep breath and pulling up her hood again. She wasn't going to lose control of herself because some wannabe thief was annoying her on purpose.

Arrow grinned. "'S wrong, princess, strategic retreat? That's okay."

She shrugged. "No clue! Probably. Wait, I do know of one other language, but they use trees. My brother taught me about it. The varying trunk lengths, I think, are pronouns, and then the branches mean things." Ishkira smiled amusedly. "I mean, we don't really have many trees where I come from."

Temota just ignored him and pulled the hood deeper so the only thing visible would be her mouth

Shiki blinked"That's..uh..unique? So every tree says something different?

Arrow laughed and started playing with the knife again.

"Yeah! The trees of life and knowledge are pretty important in a lot of elven mythology. Eat the fruit of life, and you'll live a lie, but eat the fruit of knowledge and you'll surely die," she recited, raising a finger. "Those are the basis for... I... forgot the name." She smiled sheepishly.

"Well, it goes back to the creation, with Corellon and Alane! Corellon gave the elves the fruit of life, but Alane gave us the fruit of knowledge, and then she was banished from the sky. Her daughter became Lolth, the queen of the Underdark, and she became the essence of the drow- well, our variant are glass elves." She laughed softly. "So we live for a long time, almost a thousand years, and we observe, and then we die." Ishkira nodded. "And our bodies go back into the earth. There's nothing after death, unless it's rotting in the ground."

She laughed. "Well, that's just our creation story. I'm sure everyone has something different."
