Fantasy Rosewind Tavern (Walk in Always Welcome!)

He shrugged. "I don't fight with royalty. It's not my fault she doesn't enjoy my humor." Arrow sat up again and pulled a whetstone from a belt pouch. "Really, nobody's fault but hers. You're cool, right, Shi-whatever? Totally forgot your name." He grinned at Shiki. "So, what do you do? Like, swords, right? Longsword, short sword, bastard sword, rapier, sabre, what?"

Temota growled before taking out her book.
Shiki smiled" Just call me Shiki. I actually prefer any kind but I mostly use longswords" He took out his blade out of it's sheath. It was long and polished, with an engraving of a name at it's bladeand it had some sort of fire structure at it's hilt.
"I made it myself" He beamed with pride

"Oh, really? A bladesmith? Cultured man!" He nodded. "I'd take my hat off to you, if I still had my hat, but I think that's really the least of my concerns." Arrow raised an eyebrow at the blade. "Engraved, too? Will wonders never cease?"

Shiki smiled sheepishly"Yup, I make blades and knives when I'm not travelling" He put it back on it's sheath, patting it

"Seems interesting, good fellow. Have you ever toyed with runes?" He pulled a ring knife from his coat, different than before- larger, and completely black. "This is one of my business partners." He held it up, then showed off the flat of the blade. "It's got a rune of recall on it, so when I throw it-" He took hold of it, then threw it so it whizzed just past Temota's hair and hit the wall behind her. "I can recall it." Arrow held his hand out and the knife flew back into his hand.

Temota looked up, tense and surprised. The hell was that? She looked at the wall, then the knife flew back. She noticed it was a ring knife and she knew only one person who used one and glared at him.
Shiki looked impressed"Woah! That's interesting!" He then looked confused"Are runes magical or something?"

He nodded. "Yeah, I got an old friend of mine to imbue them. It's, like." Arrow paused, a thoughtful look on his face. "The pattern directs the magic, so you just have to put raw power into it. Like, no spell or anything, and the rune isn't... inherently magical? It's just, like. A circle! Like in rituals, y'know how you have a circle? That's what a rune does, it directs the flow of energy." He shrugged. "At least, from what I remember. It's been, like, years now. Oh, how time passes. I'm even getting grey hairs!" He laughed and twirled a lock of his ash-blonde hair around his finger.

Shiki listened with interest"Oh..Makes sense" He chuckled"The only grey thing here is Temota's mood" He whispered to him, chuckling

"Yeah, well, the years start coming and they don't stop coming- and they don't stop coming, damn, am I really already forty?" He shook his head. "At least I can still walk and talk. Jeez, I'm even getting more angular! Cease this tomfoolery!" Arrow groaned and rolled his eyes. "I don't know how old you are, but make use of the prime of your life. Ah, I was twenty and breaking into the guildhall for snacks, and then I was thirty and halfway across the damn continent." He grinned.

Shiki blinked"You're forty? Wow..You don't look forty.. We're twenty three, she's older" Shiki said, gesturing to his sister

"And already a bladesmith?" He raised an eyebrow. "I don't believe you. You'd have to be at least in your late twenties to have skill like that. My skills have actually atrophied, quite the shame, I don't practice as often as I used to. I've got a quite comfortable life. Now, back in the day, I went tons of places! Melina, a mage friend of mine, I think she's got onto the guild board of governors, and Logan and Keith- they were twins, too, elves- well, they're probably doing something or another. Last I saw they went to go explore a few dwarven settlements."

Shiki smirked"You should believe it, My father taught me the arts when I was younger..Here's proof" He rolled up his sleeve, showing what was once a very nasty burn"It hurt so much" He winced at the memory

The door of the Inn opens and in comes a cloaked man. It seems to have started storming outside, and he was drenched. Still he didn't show his face, but sat down in the dark corner and watched from under his hood. It seems like he is known to the Inn as they bring him a drink and set it in front of him. No order needed. However an aura comes from the cloak, that hints at something far different than a simple traveller. Perhaps this is the man that hired you?

The wind starts to pick up outside, making the windows shake a little. It was clearly too stormy to leave, and all would have to rent a room, or sleep in the stables. Something about this feels off, eerie. As if the weather isn't natural but a sign of whats to come. Lightning slashes through the sky, illuminating dark figures out in the streets. Until they disappeared, as if they were just figments of the imagination. Maybe there is more to this quest than you thought.

All the while, the tavern owner and the waitress kept working. Not at all disturbed by the rather abrupt weather change. Those with magic can now sense that the inn is shifting somewhere else. Its a small pocket dimension. Just to exist with the inn and town in it alone. Though the people who are citizens of the town have disappeared. Leaving only our hero's, the bartenders and the man in the cloak. The windows start to black out, and they were locked inside the Inn.

"Mm, don't like that," he mumbled, raising an eyebrow at the newcomer. "So, mysterious stranger," he started, raising his voice to be heard, "I work for fifty upfront, fifty finished. If you'd like to hire my services, that is. I don't do assassinations, but unfortunate accidents are fine. Anything else is pretty much fair game." His grin had dropped, leaving a blank expression in its wake.

Temota felt something was off the second this newcomer stepped in. She shifted in her cloak, This person maybe was another person sent in by the letter or the one who sent the letter in the first place. She closed her book, her gaze never shifting from the person

Shiki was also tense. He felt the atmosphere drop and raised a brow at Arrow's words. His smile dropped, and his cheerfulness was replaced by suspicion and confusion

Rebecca felt the shift in realities, but was honestly rather nonplussed. She'd had tea in Heaven and wine Hell over the years- she'd been around the realms, to say the least. What did get her attention was the stranger who entered the room right at the dimensional change. That couldn't possibly be a coincidence. She watched the newcomer intently, waiting to see just what he'd do.

Emerald and Rhyse looked up at the person who walked in. Things were getting a little grander than Emerald thought. Shade growled, but suddenly was silenced. He kept trying to meow, or growl. Nothing came out. He jumped down ready to attack the person. The Cat became large and launched itself at the man in the cloak.
"NO SHADE" She cried, as she tried to stop him. Unusually when he attacked, the cloak collapsed. No one was there any longer. Instead a clapping came from the owner and waitress. However, they were no longer in elven form. They stepped forward and tapped on the largest table as if summoning all the adventurers.

Rhyse had his snake wrapped around him as he looked down from the staircase landing. He was unsure of this now. He wasn't one to meddle with things outside this world. Those always bring more trouble than the job was worth. Yet, as he looked around, he realized he had no real choice. He had already responded. So he made his way to the table, sitting down at the other end of the table, away from the two who now stood at the head of it. His snake slithered back into the fire place, bored of what was going on. As a familiar, she could sense what was going on well before this. She just didn't bother to let Rhyse know. He can learn on his own. He managed a glare at Emerald as she sat down closer to the beings, worried about Shade. Who had disappeared and hadn't come back. These beings seemed to banish him. She could feel he was still alive, just not here anymore.

Temota ad Shiki saw the whole problem and they knew they couldn't defend Shade. His dissapearance made them both feel strange but this cloaked person, whoever they were, was creeping them all out. They both look at eachother and Temota was the first to get to the table. Her hood made sure her face was covered so no one could see her expressions but her eyes, if anyone could see them, they were filled with fear.

Emerald shivered a little as she sat down at the table. She felt a little lost as she caught a look of the two new people. Her eyes widened. They looked like they came right out of an adventure story book. This was crazy! She wanted a simple adventure. Not something like this. What was this? She had the taste of fear in her mouth. She didn't like it. She gathered shadows around her instictively, until she was shrouded as much as possible from the light. She looked around the table, and noticed that she had sat next to Shiki. She felt a bit more comfortable sitting with him, than Rhyse at the other end. Who kept an intent stare on the new comers. For once.

"What is this place? Why are we here?"
She asked almost pleading for an answer. Yet the beings didn't speak yet. They clapped their hands and the table filled with food and drink. Everyone could see their favorite dish within the feast.

"Eat up and be merry. We shall talk of the quest as you finish up. Do not fear, we mean you no harm little mortals."

The two seemed to speak in sync. They had perfect harmony. It felt weird listening to it. Still, she saw a few of her favorite puddings and quickly went for some. She didn't have a reason not to trust them, and it was just food after all. She didn't keel over and die after the first few bites, so she figured it was fine.

"It actually is really good guys. Its like perfectly made"

She told them in between bites. She wasn't a farm animal. She had manners. The monks were very strict on discipline of all kinds.

Shiki was deep in thought by the time Emerald sat next to him. He snapped out of it when he saw Emerald right next to him. He gave her a small smile before looking at the food in surprise. He took some of his favourite food after Emerald ate, assuming it was safe. He was still wary though

Temota raised a brow. Be merry? She knew for a fact that the 'merry' part was gone as soon as they stepped in. She carefully took her own food and ate. These people were definately not your usual host. She had a feeling this quest was something much bigger if people- No, beings like them were involved.

Mortals. "Hey, I will have you know that mortals are awesome! And at least we're not dumb enough to want eternal life!" Arrow bristled at their words- who were they calling little mortals?! "Living forever is overrated!" He didn't stand up to go to the table, instead fixing his ponytail and sneering.

Shiki looked at Arrow in confusion and worry He shouldn't do something to offend them

"Hey..Calm down.." Shiki whispered to him. Een though he did make sense he didn't want the quest being cancelled or something.

"Uh, no. Not gonna happen. I've worked my ass off to get to where I am in my life and my career, and I'm not gonna let some jackass with pretty light hands undermine that!" Arrow stood up, pointing at the two in the corner. "We've got seventy years, maybe eighty, and that means all we've gotta do has to be done now! So I'm not gonna sit here and take that shit, not from you, not from anyone! And I swear, I'll face God and walk backwards into Hell just so I can kick your ass in the afterlife, too!"

Temota looked up in annoyance. Okay, now she knew how to annoy him but that wasn't what mattered

"Sit the fuck down, eat, listen and complain later when we're not surrounded by the people that called us here and can cancel it or kill us any minute" She hissed. It definately wasn't normal that she cursed, but stupidity and cursing seemed to be the only way for him to communicate.
