Other Roleplay Pet peeves

I never get people who just shout their kinks to the world on roleplay sites. Like this isn’t a dating site so I don’t see why I need to know what gets you off nor am I writing porn for you.

Go to pornhub like a normal person and leave the rest of us alone.
Or F List.

My ADHD brain telling me to take my time with writing but then wanting my partner to respond right away because ADHD brain impatient. I will never rush anyone. Brain just want dopamine.

"oh this rp looks cool"

"why do i have to squint to read posts and sheets?"

People highly concerned about what my real life gender is as if that somehow will have anything to do with how I write a character.

Sometimes I feel bad for backing out of RPs that are taking way too long to get started. But there have been some request threads that I've stated interest on, and they are still trying to get the RP started like a month later. I'm like... bruh, this is exactly where I left it at four weeks ago!
Ain't nobody got time for that!

The weird hate slice of life gets when it's just a genre preference. Use the filter system in here. It works great.

when someone wants MxM but they either always want to be the "sensitive feminine boy" or because theres always a "sensitive feminine boy" and a "pervy bad boy" fr.....its giving "i've been on wattpad too much" not all gay couples has to have a feminine boy and to be honest there isnt always one- like same with Lesbian couples there isnt always a "masculine tomboy" all lgbtq couples are different some feminine boys aren't even gay sometimes like some like crossdressing there are different sexualities every lgbtq person is different i dont mind feminine boys but like why must they be treated like "helpless" "crybaby" "pick me" like everyone is different its just annoying and offensive- but thats just me-

it really doesn't though. I've used it to search and omit. But unless you just use one or maybe two search criteria options/tags (which doesn't help to narrow down searches much), it very quickly gives a notice of: NO RESULTS FOUND
It only really works in VERY broad strokes (or looking for specific fandoms, I guess). But get any kind of specific, and you're out of luck.

So... yeah. RP pet peeve: not being able to use the search filters to any kind of useful result. lol
Best option for me has always been to just click the Prefix Badge next to the RT title and see the listed results after that and sort through em' as best I can.

If you do not offer an accessible version of your search thread, or just want to keep using your 7.4 grey font, I'm peacing out of your search thread. If you contact me and I see it I'm peacing out of the convo. Every time I come across these threads and how horrible it is on my blind ass I'm like, why? I try my best to offer mobile friendly versions and keep my font and a type and size I know I can read. I feel like it's getting worse.

Please if you're reading this and you do this y'all need to consider helping out the blind people like me. I'm done copying and pasting your test into a google doc and adjusting the size so I can read it.

this this this! It is very possible to have pretty aesthetic looking writing and still have it be accessible! If I cannot easily read what you're writing, I'm not gonna read it, and if it's too much effort for one to make a mobile/visually impaired-friendly version (even if its just plaintext underneath inaccessible coding) then our priorities are clearly too far from each other for us to be compatible writers.

Hoping this trend doesn't deter you from the hobby, I understand the struggle.

Out of curiosity... what constitutes "mobile friendly"?
I haven't had a cell phone in over 10 years, and the last time I did it was a flip phone with a basic (non-HD) screen. So, I have absolutely no idea what kind of formatting is non-compliant with cell phone access. Not that I make my RTs with heavy code in the first place. But the term seems a little vague, and I personally wouldn't know what does and does not show up on a phone.

I consider mobile friendly as in it's formatted for a mobile device. So usually just plain text is all you need. A lot of the code heavy searches get distorted on a mobile device like a phone and sometimes a tablet. So it becomes impossible for me to read if I'm not at my computer. I usually do my formatted post, and then under that is mobile friendly (which is just a google doc with plain text).

Some coded searches do show up well on phones, but that's probably because the person who designed them did so with the phone in mind. Otherwise, you get kind of a mess where things get cut off or you have to zoom in and out to get the whole writing.

I get people want an aesthetic and I'm not judging them on that. I do judge a bit on the accessibility of it.

I also have a visual impairment, as well as autism which makes some visual stimuli overwhelming. I also enjoy simple aesthetic codes. It's nice when people take the time to make things pretty.

For anyone who's wondering, here are a few essential points on how to keep a code accessible to most people:
-Use high-contrast colors for fonts (e.g if your background is light, use a dark color for the text, and vice versa), and avoid placing text over images.
-Single-scroll, simple formatting is easier to navigate for most people. Make sure all important buttons are easily visible and clearly labeled.
-Avoid flashing or very rapidly-moving GIFs. This is especially important for people with photosensitive epilepsy.

Oh God I hate when they make the font really tiny or it blends into the background. I have terrible vision. Not bad enough that I'm legally blind or anything but I do have an astigmatism that doesn't exactly help so I have to wear contacts/glasses most of the time like bro I already can't see without help you're just making it worse 😂

When a partner's replies give me so very little to work with that the task of moving an interaction/story/anything along falls entirely on me.

C'mon now, I'm not here to roleplay with myself. Work with me.

I relate to this so much. I'm blind in my left eye and have miserable vision in the other. All of these tiny ass font interest checks and character posts frustrate me. If you want to do the tiny, fancy script, please, out of consideration for people on mobile devices, or blind af folks like me and many others, include an easy to read spoiler in your post. If you don't know how to do one, it's this:

Code:
[spoiler]plain, easy to read text here[/spoiler]

Which gets you:

plain, easy to read text here

You can also get a bit fancy with it:

Code:
[spoiler=click here for plain text]Look! You can read this![/spoiler]

And get:

Look! You can read this!

You can also use a website like this mobiReady to see what a code will look like on different screens.

Typically speaking if you have specific width or height involved in your codes (or you don’t properly set up colors/sizes then it’s not gonna be mobile friendly).

So the fancier you get with the codes the more your gonna have to check them in both site modes (cuz some colors won’t show up in light mode or dark mode) and also use a monile emulator to see how it looks to folks on their phone.

You absolutely can make stuff that’s really fancy and still readable by everyone, you just gotta do the extra work.

thanks. that will definitely come in handy. Like I said, I don't actually have a phone. So I had no way of knowing what any of this stuff looked like on mobile.

I wish people would just flat out say they're not looking for partners but just another body that will play the characters they want them to play and go along with the story they want. Then I wouldn't have to waste any time. Just write a damn solo story if you want to control everything.

If I'm plotting with you and you genuinely have no ideas you're better off telling me that than making me ask follow up questions over and over to get any semblance of a plot outline out of you. I think it's perfectly acceptable for us to admit we don't really have any specific ideas.

And if you continue to not help with plotting, congrats you're writing the starter.

People make me sick when they want to romance my villain character because they feel the murder and mayhem he's committed is somehow endearing. That he will change his ways by the power of love. He. can't. be. romanced. He doesn't give two shits about your Mary/Gary Sue/Stu character. Just makes me sick.

Or at least play it villainous as well. Cuz trying to change someone’s entire personality just so they love you is shitty ass behavior.

So why not double down and be like “yeah I truly have no moral compass and do not care about the murder and mayhem. Your hot and you will love me and frankly your opinion on the matter is immaterial.”

Man, gotta hate it when a new RP sparks my interest while I'm drawing a blank on an older one -- and double the guilt if both RPs are hosted by the same person. Pretty sure it's my AuDHD brain acting up, I swear. 😅
