That is terrible. Alex, I'm really sorry to hear that. Hugs to you and yours.

That's terrible, Alex! I'm so sorry. Take all the time you need to get your head into this. Real Life always comes first.

thank you all so much for the kind words. I'm trying to focus on this, to finish up the sheet, and think about Something Else. I'm gonna be taking option B for skill selection in Guide to the Multiverse, i'll ask for some dice rolls.

Sounds like a plan. I'll be on and off line through the evening, so I should be able to answer any questions that come up quickly.

What is this "Guide to the Multiverse" and how do I not know of it, please?

braindead sorry, i mean Hero's Unlimited.
No worries, Alex! I'm right there with you - for much of this week (and much of October come to think of it!), my brain has gone on vacation and I didn't know when it was coming back. Wooo! =)

Tell us more about your character? Anything at all? I liked Ellis and I want to know more about this person you're excited to play!

EDIT: I mean, if you become in the mood to? I would know more of what brings a smile to your face! =)

Psychie Psychie Did Jake Turner have any unusual item(s) on his person that Dreamy might keep as a keepsake? An old football ring he uncovered somewhere? A pocketknife he stole from one of his previous prey? Something like that? If there is such, Dreamy would like to keep such a thing around to remember this time by.

Ahh, of course. i am working to assemble the props and costumes, but the stage needs a player.

I present: Name McNameface (names are usually the last attribute i give to a character, and only once they enter the fray)
She was born in new york state, or what remains of it, in the north. (Either Buffalo or Rochester, I've not decided). ( Psychie Psychie here, an excuse of where to put her! she's more than likley in the Big Apple now, or what remains of the city if there are people there. also, looking at canada, free quebec seems to be kind of close to Niagra) anyway, a sudden rift exposure at a young age resulted in Name's powers, which, as i'm not sure on the frequency of vamps in niagra, she probably only saw her powers as just some kind of boost to her health. her family, like many in the region, were vinters, and they the wealthy of Free Quebec and the CS alongside the rather strange and less human types. Human or D-Bee, so long as there were enough credits to buy food and keep the farm running. however, a life spent growing and fermenting grapes was not Name's ideal life. so many travelers, with a tendency to indulge and tell inebriated stories, only fueled her wanderlust. She wanted a few adventures of her own to tell to an inebriated crowd, rather than simply listening, or playing acoustic for drunkard's tips. (moreover, as a personable and at least somewhat attractive young woman, well... the leers of drunk soldiers dont feel pretty on your skin.)

all this culminated in her setting off at twenty, wandering further and further down paths, but always circling back home. it was on one of these earlier journies that she had her first encounter with some kind of supernatural evil... perhaps a wild vampire, perhaps some weakest of demon spawns looking to cause some problems, something weak, but a supernatural evil. and at that point, instincts just sort of kicked in. and then, staked Vampire. recalling the stories she'd picked up over the years, Name guestimated on how to actualy kill the thing, and given as she's still standing, she got it right

and whereto next? well, i dont know. that's for me and our dm to decide. anyway, i have an eight AM flight, which means i'm going to be up at 4. so, see you folks entierly too soon.

Neat stuff! A New Yorker too. Cool!

Sleep well, Alex! Have a good flight! =)

I will say that one item of note you found is an old pair of gold plated .45 caliber pistols each with a nine round capacity. They are currently loaded with sdc rounds, but it is possible to get MDC rounds for them in the right marketplace.

Psychie Psychie Oh, wow! I wasn't expecting weapons. How cool!

I'm glad they're gold-plated as one doesn't make a firearm out of gold; it's too soft a metal for the punishment bullets give. Brass is stronger and more long-lasting. Just ask the Henry rifle company! Heh! They make some beauties!

Hmm. Maybe someday down the road, I can find some way to make them anti-vampire or anti-supernatural evil?

Thanks for the interesting items! May I choose a nine-round .45 pistol model or did you have a model in mind?

Let's say that they are the venerable Colt 1911 (I think that's the right model number), making them probably worth more as a collector's item than as a standard firearm if you can find someone that is into collecting antiques.

Model 1911 Colts?! Are you serious? That's one (O.K. two) hell of a find! When you say "venerable," do you mean Pre-Rifts?

Colt 1911s are the model that started it all. The gun genius, John Moses Browning, created them and they entered into our U.S. military's hands in the year 1911. The platform served for 75 whole years until it was eventually replaced (find another handgun that's done that!). It is a very cool platform and to find actual Colts (and not knock-offs or replicas) is... nothing short of incredible!

If Dreamy knows what these are (and given the amount of Weapon Proficiencies she has, she just might!), she's not letting go of these!

Yes, they are probably over 500 years old and still in excellent shape. They may have come from the weapon cache that Turner had found.

It is possible that they are replicas, but even so, they are quite old and in great shape. A true collector might be able to identify the age of these.

I would hazard a guess that even if they are replicas, being a pair of pre-Rift items in that condition works make them valuable from that alone.

By replicas, I mean clones. If they say "COLT" on them, they're not replicas/clones/Springfields/Rock Island Armory etc. but instead the real thing. In my mind, a true firearm collector might just about have a heart attack learning that these exist at all. As an example, I am at this very moment looking at a "WWI issued Colt 1911 US Army Model of 1911, MFG 1918" (MFG means manufactured in year xxxx). That firearm alone is selling for 3,600 dollars.

Gold-plated? Could mean these are anniversary-issue weapons or (more likely) limited issue commemorative models meant for war veterans and the like (perhaps never fired; you don't junk your dress gun).

Does Dreamy have to roll anything to realize what she's got here? Because if she learns what they are, she is likely to keep them as long as she is able! I mean, what a pair of trophies for her first-ever solo* vampire kill! Pre-Rifts 1911s! Talk about treasures that I'm glad aren't in the vile hands of that Jake Turner anymore! Heh! =)

*solo meaning she performed the kill herself. Full credit goes to Sylvie for leading Dreamy to his lair!

Obviously, Dreamy will not be able to tell the gold plated part of these by touch and radar, but there are several people with her that can and communicate that to her. Now that you have taken care of the vampire threat and are on the way to New York, you have the downtime needed to fully examine the pistols and learn about them.

Psychie Psychie She'll not be able to tell it's gold without sight, sure, but with your permission, I'll bet she'll know something's up when it doesn't feel like a typical pistol. I imagine her skills and Altarian gifts might be enough to come to that conclusion and ask the group.

However, I don't want that to dominate any conversations we're having. After all, you planned a game for us to travel from Florida to New York. I'm excited to see what's next along the way! Thanks again for not one but two really sweet mementos!

Oh. I should ask before I forget. Do these .45s come with ammunition or did Turner carry them without ammo for whatever reason (can't find .45 ACP rounds or something)?

Does Dreamy want to ride her robot unicorn or join the rest of the group in the Mountaineer ATV as it is being driven by Raven?
Psychie Psychie Depends! All I'm getting from the description is "thwarted dinos," "rough road," and "don't go over 50 mph." What are conditions like? Is it night or day? Weather? Etc. =)

Oh. And where precisely are we, please?
