Yeah, Atlantis would be really hard to take out, even a chunk of it. The Splurgoth have a lot of power at their disposal. Working in England/Europe or South America would be something I have not run before but I'm willing to see what comes of it.

Psychie Psychie Oh yes. I like the idea of Europe or Florida. The Coalition Wars would be neat, too. =)

But whatever happens - come heck or high water - Snowfall is making some quality anti-Boom Gun earplug action for the whole team plus Rammoth! =)

South America is a place I personally have less attachment to. Sure, there are some great guns and gear down there, not to mention neat creatures (Anti-Monsters anyone?); it's the culture and backdrop (lack of immersion?) I'm neutral towards.

Europe sounds like fun to me because of the shared language, history, and the like. They've got magic, tech, and everything in between. I'm not sure what to think of the whole gurgoyle/gargoyle thing, but I'm convinced there is enough of a quality setting to keep us busy there. Plus, Rammoth is a Chiang-Ku and their first mention (if memory serves) was in Rifts: World Book 4 (England). There could be a story in there. =)

Sherwood? What excites you? Any stories on or off-world (Phase World, Splicers, etc.) that spark your imagination?

Hmmm. What would I like? I have the PDFs for the Phase World and Splicer books, but TBH, I haven't done more than skimmed them. That setting would be as much a learning experience for me as it would be for you.

Europe and England have a few story hooks to them, along with fun stuff with the monsters in the area.

I've never run a Coalition War campaign, having fun with hordes of Skelebots and Dead Boys looking to put a few notches on their belts by taking out a whole bunch of wizards and other magical monsters, along with a few moral quandaries to test the players...

That sounds to me to be the best bet. Now, there are a few ways to get you there. If you take the mobile fortress, you can simply walk there. It would involve fighting your way through the various other vampire kingdoms, then through Texas where the Lone Star complex is located, and if you manage to make it past all that, you have the Zone of Magic and its perils to deal with before you return to Dweomer.

Or, I could make it a bit easier and have Brazamal come looking for his favorite agents, and help you control the pyramid's nexus point to open a controlled Rift to the city, bypassing a lot of hassle.

Taking the Gulf of Mexico water route is also possible, but that has its own share of challenges. Hmmm. Lots of options.

Sounds like Sherwood has his eye set on the Coalition war.

Well, I asked (and as usual, I meant it). =)

Having done so, how does everyone else feel about it?

In times like these, there is always some give and take between the people around the gaming table (that's us all right). I'm good for Coalition War Campaign. I can (hope to) imagine the Coalition might have come across some Asian goodies that would wow my character or something out there that would give us extra fresh reason for Daisy to want to sink her teeth into them (C.S. decided to make another facility where they're experimenting on Dog Boy/Girl pups and painfully eradicating the ones the C.S. see as failures - yeah, I can see Daisy asking the party if they wanted to join her on something like that).

Going back to Europe, I like the idea of the mystical magical background of Europe and going dino-hunting in Florida sounds like a lot of fun except for two things - dinos aren't known for their loot and why would we be hunting dinosaurs (unless, say, someone had gone all Jurassic Park with the help of... hmm... the Coalition?).

Story-wise, both the Coalition war and Atlantis seem like the obvious choice. Europe's great if the story ever leads us there, but quite far off. Space? I don't know. Honestly, I'd probably jump into another Robotech game if I wanted to go there. Just feels like Rifts Earth has so much fun to offer. Could see passing through vampire-and Dino-infested territory (some nice final stand in the midst of the wilderness when ammo's running low...) or a dragon , but I wouldn't want to see either of the first two much longer than what we just had here. You know - they just feed. Always find it hard to feel much about vamps, so I would not like to fight my way through several kingdoms of them.

Well, that gives me some ideas as to what you guys would like to do. Not a problem for me. Looking forward to seeing what you guys pull off now.

If ISP and Chi are interchangeable... would that mean that Daisy has some serious untapped potential to become a martial artist? Cause she has a lot of ISP.

It would take some skill slots to be able upgrade your HtH skill. What level do you have your combat training at now? Is it the HtH Martial Arts, or something else?

I have one skill i haven't used yet. But I don't mind saving them up if it is worthwhile.

I'm currently at level 7 hth Expert.

It would take you two skills to get one of the advanced martial art styles like what Snowfall has; one to upgrade to HtH Martial Arts, and one to go beyond that to something like his Tai Chi. If you don't want Tai Chi, there are a few other Styles that might go well with your build that could be taught to you by Rammoth, such as Wi Wing Chun.

What does wi wing chun do?

Also. Would taking a ma style mean I lose everything from hth expert?

I can copy/paste it over in a PM for you to look at and see if you would like to swap it out.

It would replace what you have as far as combat bonuses, and it would add a few points to your physical stats.

That's pretty cool! I think that might be something fun to invest in.

Would her hth experience be reset and she be starting at HtH Wing Chun level 1?

Also, what are martial art powers?

And could martial be used while inside a glitterboy?

If I may?

Like ISP and PPE, Chi is a bank that fuels a specific family of powers or abilities that are often hard to come by on their own. Simply upgrading to Wui Wing Chun won't provide those abilities (which I have the write-up for it if you want? Sherwood Sherwood D. Rex D. Rex Head over to Broadsword > The Martial Way > Wui Wing Chun if you'd like to see it easily?). You have your PPE users (common in Rifts), ISP users (a little less common), and your Chi users (good luck finding these people - especially anywhere outside of Asia).

Rifts aside, speaking only from a Ninjas & Superspies perspective, the people that spend Chi points can be boiled down to two types (of Snowfall is both). Mystical beings (Snowfall uses Chi to shapeshift and in truth; being a spirit, his most natural form is a cloud of Positive Chi, not a fox, not a human) and those so deeply involved into the mystic martial arts as to use them in their Martial Art Powers, specifically the Chi Master specialization.

A note: Wui Wing Chun is highly unusual in that it provides the option of a single Chi Mastery Martial Art Power once in its entire experience level advancement list, not at 1st level, but only at 4th level (and not at 7th).

Back in November of 2019, I remember feeling extremely lucky that Sherwood allowed my Character Martial Art Powers (and still do)! Why? Well, Sherwood explained that he had no background using them, felt hesitant allowing any of them, and did so only with some serious restrictions that I have agreed to and upheld since I started playing Snowfall (which basically boil down to, "Dann, I trust you with these things, and while I am not allowing most, I know that you won't screw me or my campaign through the use of these powers," to which I replied, "Thank you for the trust! I won't mess up your campaign!").

Sherwood allowed my Character only 4 such Powers (3 from Chi Mastery and 1 from Zenjoriki - those can be found on Snowfall's Character Sheet if you're interested in them - you'll also probably note how often I have used them). Sherwood completely disallowed all other Martial Art Powers (Body Hardening, Arts of Invisibility, etc.) and I was only allowed the Powers Snowfall was eligible for at 1st level. Instead of getting additional Powers at higher level, Snowfall would receive combat bonuses (as can be found on Sherwood's Character page).

Going back into the combination of Rifts with Mystic Martial Art Powers, these can be found in Rifts: Japan or Rifts: China 1 & 2. If we start using these, well, understand they draw upon PPE moreso than Chi (again, the bank of mystical Asian creatures and Chi Masters). Mystical Martial Art Powers in Rifts can do things like... Daisy can temporarily become a Mega-damage being! Terra could parry incoming Mega-damage attacks with her wrists and no penalty to the Parry attempts!

Eron could produce bright and natural sunlight out of his eyes (a card in Snowfall's deck that he very almost used in the pyramid fight) by way of using his Chi [Radiate Positive Chi - Character emits sunlight by spending Chi. Can emit Chi from their eyes (Cost: 2 Chi/round. 50 foot range, brighter than car headlights) or body (4 Chi/round in 30 foot radius) or can also dispel Negative Chi in area (current level of Negative Chi plus 4 points of Positive Chi/round).]

Zephiron could conceivably become immune to surprise and possess a +6 to Initiative, +2 to Parry, and +4 to Dodge even when asleep (Zanshin, Martial Art Power). These are all roads open to Wui Wing Chun if Mystic Martial Art Powers are allowed into this Rifts game (all, of course, with Sherwood's approval).

Here is the point I'm leading up to that you have so patiently read up to:

If Sherwood is allowing Martial Art Powers into the game, I hereby request access to the Powers Snowfall was denied after Character Creation. In other other words, I think if Western Characters with no mystical martial art background can simply spend Skills and get sacred Martial Art Powers, I want Snowfall to be able to get the powers he should have by way of experience (remember, he received combat bonuses instead of additional Martial Art Powers). If Rammoth is such an entity as to be able to provide Westerners these powers, surely she can provide an Eastern spirit born into these powers the same freedom.

Also, if any of you have questions about Martial Art Powers or the like as they come anywhere in Palladium, let me know? I'll help! =)

Sherwood Sherwood Oh, and before I forget - please for the balance of this Rifts game - I respectfully recommend you do NOT allow Body Chi/Kokyu into the game (Ninjas & Superspies, page 119)? While Snowfall was allowed to get it, I purposefully passed it up as it allows one to spend Chi to temporarily increase Attributes (1 Chi Point for 5 Points in any Attribute! M.E., M.A., P.S., P.P., or Spd! You can up your P.S. by 5, P.P. by 10, and Speed by 20 for 7 points of Chi - by the way, Snowfall has 110 Chi depending on what form he is in - and these bonuses last for one full Round).

While I think it's a terrific power for the S.D.C.-based Ninjas & Superspies game (where Chi is in much shorter supply), I think having it in Rifts where Supernatural Strength is a thing and being able to spend just 5 Chi to up your P.P. by twenty-five points is enough to guarantee Initiative is a bit much? As always, my friendly and appreciative disclaimer - your game, your rules. =)

Totally unrelated: Think I'll stick with the holy blade. It helped defeating Salnesh, after all, and that alone makes it invaluable for him, I believe. Is there a way to get a crystal during the break, could our dragon friend create one, for example? Or someone else? I'd like the upgrade to have a personal meaning, even if that means to wait for it. Someone else Eron can praise when he draws the blade, so to speak...

I won't be able to post today, but might be able to respond and get my sheet sorted out tomorrow, I'll see.

The crystals did wonders for Gradicus's weapons when I played him. If we can somehow do some trading at Brazamal's, then crystals are probably on the have-list somewhere? And maybe some Rifts: Japan or China items in very small amounts? Yeeesh. I should have never looked into those books recently - Snowfall wants some "home-grown" goodies even if they're minor and he has to make them! =)

Are Dimensional Travelers allowed to be homesick? =)

Sherwood Sherwood So, I'm (finally) looking at the options for the level-up. I'm pretty certain that I'd like to drop demolitions for the basic armor stuff if that's alright since I haven't used it ever; besides, it's pretty off-theme, it feels like. Might want to look into dropping something else for better proficiency, but I wouldn't know what exactly, right now. I'll only get a new skill in two levels, so I'm mostly reliant on switching stuff out, unfortunately...

Just to confirm: I can't ride my robot horse in the heavy armor, right? Should be too heavy for it, besides other problems.

Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner.

If you wish to swap out the skill for the Robot Piloting one, I'll let you do that. We can post a training montage with you and Daisy, having her show you the ropes of how to use the suit.

And no, you would be too heavy for the robot horse to carry.

Also, I am wondering what you guys want to do while Rammoth tats the couple of PCs that want them and teach Zephiron some new spells. Are you going to be sitting at the pyramid? Going on the move somewhere in the Mechanoid fortress? Something different?

Good question. I have no issues with sitting in place, or with loading up our stuff onto the Mobile Fortress and walking it back to North America. Anyone have an opinion on this?

I was thinking maybe we could visit a market somewhere and hopefully get some good prices on our gems and unused vehicles/machines and buy some neat gear?

What does everyone think about that?
