With my added range on my Automation control, I can operate the Infiltrator from over a thousand feet out, and it is completely expendable. We can have it go investigate after the boom goes off, and if it sees that the place has not gone up in the blast, it can finish off the reactor as Terra's eyes and hands. If it is destroyed in the resulting explosion, I can always get another if I don't go ahead and shift over to being a Undead Slayer.
That probably entails having Terra use her portal spell again to keep us in the area, and yet again to get her Automaton back to the reactor, right?

Where do we retreat to? Sherwood Sherwood Is that vampire's den within portal range from the reactor?
I can also help out in the distraction part of this by making my Tattoo Monster, a 300 MDC dragon. It uses up a lot of PPE, but it will give us all an extra bit of firepower where and when we need it.
Oh, how Snowfall would love to summon Juu, his schizophrenic ten-headed hydra, to join your dragon! Except I don't want to use up any PPE that we would need to get the heck out of Dodge. Especially if things go sideways.

Psychie Psychie Re: Tattooed Undead slayer. Remind me again why you're considering this move? What does the Undead Slayer have that your Battle Magus doesn't?

I am pondering the change for several reasons. Yes, the Battle Controller is nice and has some cool perks to it, but I am continually looking at a few issues.

First, I feel that Terra is getting a little overpowered operating all of these Automations at once. Sure, her own personal attacks drop down to just 1 per round, but with 4+ Automations of different kinds all operating in unison, it feels like I'm trying to run five different characters at once.

Then there is the advantage of being an MDC being once I get the extra tats and the added PPE to activate the various tattoos.

Also there is the logistical issue of having to try and maneuver the various Automations. Even my smaller Earth Thunderers would have had to be left behind as we were crawling through the caves, and my larger Battlelord might not fit inside the halls at all. As an Undead Slayer, I would have some awesome powers in attack, defense and utility areas, and able to hold my own in any decent sized fight.

Does that help explain my interest in changing Terra a bit?

So it is sounding like we have a plan. We can use the Infiltrator to portal into the room or use Snowfall's dimensional shifting power, shut the blast doors and seal the place up tight, then while Eron, Snowall and my ecto-dragon all romp around and distract/fight the Skelebots, Terra, Morrolan and Terra's Automation place the grenades and light the place up good.

Sound about right to everyone?

lol You forgot the part where you get out before the grenades go off and survive the blast. Other than that, it works for me if that is how you guys want to do this.

Sounds good to me, especially the "survive" - part. Part of me wants to do something with the Xhunters, but I just don't find a good way to do it - and this should work, and that's all we need.

Yes, it does. I would want to play a Mega-damage creature too if I didn't have anything like automatons to be between my character and harm's way. Personally, I don't remember the last time Terra took damage, but if it feels like playing 5 characters at once - or more to the point, if you're not enjoying playing the character as she is any longer - then there are but three paths, this being the easiest and fastest (that path being "changing the character').

I remember when Sil was playing Shaona. She was definitely a fun character to have around and (more importantly to me) Sil was charmed by her and enjoyed playing her. But... times change. Characters are like automobiles; sometimes your time with them leaves you wanting something else, something new. Sometimes not.

I'm asking in part because I've never played a Battle Controller before. Thanks for your perspective, lady!

You beat me to it, bud! =)

I don't believe we have a way of telling just what kind of blast that reactor is going to set off. For all we know, the reactor blast will kill everything in the Project Omega room only. Or... it might take out the Xiticix-hunters... or more... or less! Reactors come in all shapes and sizes and remember - Fat Man and Little Boy, the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, were both small enough to be carried in the belly of a World War II bomber (they weren't very big).

That's one reason I think it's best we be far and away from the blast. Terra's Infiltrator might return to the scene of the detonation and find there is no room left at all and the blast caused everything above it (all 100 yards of earth) to come crashing down. Time will tell should we succeed.

Terra is a fun character, but if I had all of my Automations, I'd have to keep track of the MDC, PPE and weapon damage of effectively five characters all at once. Not that I don't do that as a Storyteller with the NPCs, but I want to be able to relax a bit and enjoy Terra more, and I feel that changing her a bit will be better for me in the long run.

Psychie Psychie That's great and I'm glad you realize it! As much as I love Gradicus, I'm glad I changed and created Snowfall!

Since Undead Slayers are more fit for melee combat than Battle Controllers, will you also be changing or adding to Terra's way of fighting?

At the moment, Terra has a really awesome melee weapon called a Battle Fury Blade. Its a TW weapon that is a step down from a full blown rune weapon. It can do as much as 1d6x10 MD per hit before the extra damage crystal I have in it, and when energized, it provides the wielder with a 100 MDC force field and can then make two hits in a single melee action. It was a very expensive purchase, but well worth it.

And that's terrific, but I'm talking about her methods of fighting? Will you add more physical skills to her or will you change her hand to hand techniques to further her abilities in melee combat or leave her as she is?

Ah, I misunderstood. Well, I do have three skill slots that I had dedicated to increasing the control range of my Automations that I can apply to new skills. I'm not sure what I'll pick up for them yet.

You still have some time to figure that out, so I am not stressed about it.

O.K.! Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. If you haven't yet, remember to pick up W.P. Rune Weapons in the Skills Compendium v6.0! It gives a +2 to Strike with weapons, +3 to Parry with Rune Shields, and the ability to use any rune weapon regardless of its type. I think that's so cool and I'm betting Terra could benefit from it too!

There is only so much to do in front of a locked door - pacing around is one of the possibilities, and so that's what the Crazy does as he waits. With Shining Mirror in its sheath (holy white flames are many things, but not stealthy) and his other blade little more than a punch dagger at this point, he awaits the upcoming mess while faintly humming a melody. The free hand rests on the pouch around his neck, as if to make sure it is there; as long as it's there, he's prepared for whatever comes next.

ADHD folks like me can be intensely curious. So... Silanon Silanon I have to ask... just what melody does Eron happen to humming?

You never know with a Crazy! 8D

Let's go with the first non-life-threatening melody that came to mind:

Yaaay for Psychie using that Action Point! Way to go! =)

If you guys want to have any weapons, special armor or spells up and active, now is the time to declare them. Once you are set, I'll post the results of your portal opening and what you encounter when you do.

Sherwood Sherwood But the moment we use magic, we're wide open are we not?

"First, there are some talismans that will dull the 'psychic smell' that we men (and women) of magic have that the Dog Boys can sense. What would normally be detectable hundreds of feet away, such as a powerful mage or a dragon, these little gems will reduce that sense range to just a score of feet, so long as the being does not engage in any active magic or psychic powers while wearing the talismans. Doing that will void the protection of the talisman, and the magic smell will be detectable from a long distance away."

It is not an 'all-or-nothing' thing with the talismans. The more PPE you spend, the easier it will be for a Dog Boy to sniff you out. Also keep in mind that in the room you are about to portal to, there are no Dog Boys that you have seen so far.
