Emma held her breath as Hadley's hand joined hers, and she couldn't help but feel a rush of an unidentifiable feeling trickle into her heart spread throughout her veins. The intimacy of that simple gesture meant more then Emma knew she could explain to Hadley; it was innocent and meaningful all the same. The last time Emma had had a person of the opposite gender do so much as brush up against her had been her step father before today, but she knew she could trust Hadley. She didn't know where he had come from; he had seen to drop straight out of nowhere into her life. Now that he was here however, she didn't want him to leave. Emma stared deep into Hadley's eyes, and blushed a rosy red color as he finished speaking. "You needn't ever worry about disappointing me. It is impossible." Emma reached a cautious hand up to his cheek and caressed it gently. "I care for you too, Hadley Larson."

Hadley felt an overwhelming sensation, a sudden warmth melting away all of his doubts, spreading throughout his body at her touch. He closed his eyes for just a moment and let the feeling overtake him, breathing in it's beauty and not wanting to ever forget this moment. When he slowly opened his eyes he found his eyes locked with Emma's instantly. Such a connection this was - he knew it the minute she had first taken those few daring steps toward him to get on Faust. However, he hadn't wanted to admit it, to even himself. He was afraid of being hurt and embarrassed - afraid to be wrong about his assumption that Emma had the same feelings coursing through her as he did. He was afraid to make a fool of himself, but now he no longer cared. If he were ever going to make a huge fool out of himself to anyone, it was going to be right here, to Emma. So, daring once again to take another chance - but still being careful not to upset or disrespect Emma (because he knew how 'wonderful' her past experiences with the opposite gender had been) - Hadley bent forward and placed a tender kiss on her forehead. When he pulled himself back away from her - his thoughts racing about all the things she could say against what he had just done (after all, they just met today!) - he held his breath for a few seconds and waited for a response from her and prayed it wasn't going to be negative.

Emma held her breath as their gaze gained intensity. She had never before seen such a look in a person's eyes that she was seeing from Hadley, and it warmed her very essence. It was a look of caring and admiration with a tinge of something else she couldn't quite place. That look said it all for her though - it made her feel safe. Safe to be with him, to be this close to him, and in sharing herself with. When he leaned forward, the thoughts began to race through Emma's head at an alarmingly fast rate. He's going to kiss me. Oh my god, he's going to kiss me. I haven't even kissed a boy before. I'll be sure to mess that up. When his soft lips gently placed a kiss on her forehead, Emma smiled. He was a kind gentleman to add to it all that made him wonderful, she noted. She could tell he was nervous for her reaction, and she smiled softly at him. She kissed his cheek slowly and went back to lying facing him, and staring into his eyes. "Guess what Hadley Larson?"

When Emma placed the kiss on his cheek, Hadley immediately let out the breath he had been holding back, ever so slowly. He had never thought that she would do that, nor had he ever had someone do that to him. Mothers are an entirely different experience. To be kissed by a girl, no, a young woman, is...well...bliss. He thought to himself, smiling at Emma the whole time. "Yes, Emma?" He could hardly get the words out, being as stunned and full of joy and surprise as he was.

Emma laughed softly at how happy Hadley looked from her kiss. She had never seen such a look on someone in a very long time and the fact that she was the one to cause it made her undeniably happy. She smiled back at him and caressed his check once more before trailing her arm down his face to his tattoos and lazily dragging her finger around their intricate designs once more. "I have a crazy confession to make." Emma looked up into his eyes bravely, noticing he was hanging on to her every word. Suddenly Emma didn't feel so brave anymore. She was set to admit to Hadley that she thinks she could possibly be developing something for him, but the words seemed to die on her lips. Emma knew she had only just met him a few hours earlier, but it couldn't be denied she felt as if she knew him more then that. The fear of rejection crept into the back of her mind she was simply over thinking everything as she had a tendency to do that very thing, and he would be immediately repulsed by the very notion. A lump formed in her throat and Emma swallowed it down. Taking a deep breath, she finally mustered enough courage. "I think I might.. sort of be falling for you. Or something at least. I can't place it exactly, but there's something about you that makes me feel different then I ever have."

Laughing softly, she replied, "it's been a while since I've been wrong." After making sure there was hay in the hay net, she walked them out of the barn, humming softly. "Did they show you everything in the main house? If not we'll go there cause it's pretty frickin' huge but very cozy, if you ask me." Lyra smiled at her, head sort of tilted to the side, there was something about Delilah. She hadn't clicked with someone here so fast, or at all before.

Hadley watched Emma intently, knowing what was to come. Or, at least, hoping for a confession of love for him. Maybe he was just dreaming. But she looks like she's having such a hard time saying whatever it is she wants to say. It has to be... Hadley found himself begging her in his head not to choke up. He wanted nothing more in the world than to hear what she was about to say next. When she finally said it, that feeling of pure joy came back to him, amplified by two hundred percent. At that moment, Hadley felt invincible - like nothing he did or said, or that anyone else did or said, could ever hurt him. Without allowing a fraction of a second for a pause in the conversation, when Emma finished her sentence, Hadley leapt to his feet - the joy inside causing him to act quickly and with purpose. For once the thought never crossed his mind that Emma may not approve of what he was about to do - or perhaps that he was frightening her with his sudden movement. Instead, he allowed no time for thought when he reached down, grabbed her hand, and carefully lifted her onto her feet in front of him. He looked deep into her eyes, and paused for that second. All his thoughts and doubts started to come rushing back to him in that moment and he was afraid that if he didn't act now he would never get the courage to do this ever again. So, he placed both of his hands gently on both sides of Emma's face. "Emma Rose," he spoke seriously, but tenderly, "to that thought I say..." and without actually saying anything else, he leaned forward and kissed her tenderly on the lips, allowing them both to linger in that moment of bliss. At least for Hadley - he wasn't sure what Emma was thinking, but it was too late. He had already done it. He wouldn't concern himself with the consequences until the kiss had ended and he was pulled sharply back into reality. For right now he felt as though he were in a dream.

When Hadley lept to his feet, it originally shocked Emma. She feared for a moment, he was getting up so abruptly because he found the idea preposterous or full of disgust. Her thoughts changed however when he pulled her to her feet. For a split second, she lapsed back and became fearful he was angered by her confession. All such thoughts melted away once she saw the look on his face. It was joyful and ecstatic; a happiness that was charged by love. Breathlessly she smiled back at him widely, and laughed a little at his exuberance. Him placing his hands on her cheeks, made Emma's cheeks grow warm even though she knew he couldn't see it. It didn't seem to cross Emma's mind this time what was in store for her until it was happening. Emma's eyebrows raised and her eyes opened wide at the shock of it all, while their lips were locked. She relaxed quickly, allowing his warm lips to capture her own and she closed her eyes to the new found sensation. His lips felt unexplainable against hers, and she found herself enjoying it more then she had imagined. He tasted sweet and his lips fit perfectly against her own. Emma was on cloud nine. She snaked her arms around his waist, hugging him to her without breaking the tenderly sweet kiss. She moved her lips against his in a slow and passionate way. When they finally broke for air, Emma was breathless and she couldn't help but smile so honestly and truly at Hadley.

Hadley's smile when he realized that Emma was enjoying the kiss was unexplainable. The feeling of pure joy raced through his body for the entire kiss and many moments afterward, as they stared into each others eyes. Breathless and happy beyond what he ever thought he could be, he chuckled. "Well, Emma Rose. You've gotten my heart in a matter of hours." He closed his eyes and bent forward much slower this time and with even more tenderness than before, he placed a kiss gently on her lips again. He pulled away in a matter of seconds - that had seemed like forever - and said in almost a whisper, "Be careful with it. It's fragile, but it's all yours. If you want it." He smiled at her once again, his hands still gently resting on the sides of her face and his thumb caressing her cheek.

Her heart was racing and her cheeks were flushed, but Emma did not give one care. All she could think about was Hadley - him, and all that he was. The kiss had caused an explosion in her and she craved more. She had seen the insides of his soul and tasted him, and she couldn't get enough. "Your heart is mine as mine is yours. You gained mine and I don't think you even tried. I'll guard yours only if you promise to keep mine safe as well." Emma stood up on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around Hadley's neck. This time she initiated the kiss, and placed her lips comfortingly against his once more.

"Of course I will." Hadley spoke softly and let this moment overtake his senses. Emma, her beauty and warmth, pressed to him in a loving embrace. Never before had this happened to him and he knew it would never happen again - not with anyone but Emma. She was special. It felt right when he touched her skin - like they were destined to meet, their skin destined to touch each other.

Emma slowly pulled away from the kiss, still keeping her arms locked around his neck. She laid her head on his chest, sighing happily. She hadn't ever felt the way she did, with anyone else. It was unique, new, and wonderful in every aspect she could think of. Hadley was an amazing person, he truly was; and she was so thankful to bask in his presence and share such a moment of intimacy, and dare she think it, possible love. Her veins tingled with adrenaline and she looked up at Hadley and smiled before whispering in a soft tone, "This is bliss."

Hadley smiled down at Emma and took her hand in both of his. Not wanting to break eye contact with her for even a second, he brought her hand up to his lips and kissed the back of her hand as gently as he could. He lowered her hand and wrapped his arms around her waist and softly replied, "This is love."

Emma's heart melted as Hadley uttered those words and she felt as if she were on cloud nine. Love! It was love these two shared; the feeling she couldn't quite place or recognize. Love, with a wonderful guy who was honest and true to her. Emma smiled joyfully and kissed Hadley happily in a passionate liplock. Nothing could bring Emma down from this feeling that she was floating. She was flying so high.

Delilah giggled softly replying almost sarcastically, "Oh, really?" She continued moving alongside Lyra looking around at her surroundings. "No, nobody really showed me around. I was told where my room was and that's as far as got. They didn't even let me know where the bathroom was!" Delilah smiled, laughing a bit then biting her lip to hold it back.

Hadley held Emma tightly to him - after yet another beautifully passionate kiss - never wanting to let her go. That was when he realized that it was getting later in the afternoon. They had been out here for quite sometime and hadn't even realized. Hadley couldn't remember what time it was that he and Emma first left on Faust, but now he saw that the sun was setting. And this was a particularly beautiful sun set - the sky a pinkish red and orange amongst the original blue. He smiled down at Emma. "The sun is starting to set. We've been here for quite a while, haven't we?" He laughed. "I guess time really does fly when you're having fun." He placed one more quick kiss on her lips before looking out at the sky again - almost as though he were looking for something, though there was nothing there to search for.

"Yeah, yeah." Louisiana laughed and stuck her tongue out at Delilah as she led her into the main house, opening the door for her then walking in after her. "Alright, I'll give you the grand tour then." She waved her along as she walked her to the kitchen, living room, dining room, library and finally upstairs to show her the bathroom closest to her room. "The outside is much easier to navigate, I promise."

Emma couldn't hide the expression of how crestfallen she was when Hadley spoke up about how late it was in the evening. She hadn't even noticed that time was passing her by; in fact, it hadn't seemed like she had spent the entire day with Hadley. She wanted more time; more time to spend with him in his arms. The thought of going back to St. Joseph's discouraged her greatly, and she sadly mumbled back, "I guess so." Emma returned the quick kiss Hadley had given her with great eagerness, and hugged him tightly. "Hadley, before we have to go back, could you answer me something?"

Hadley held her tightly in his arms, kissed the top of her head, and replied, "yes, of course." He couldn't help the sound of disappointment in his voice, for now he realized that they wouldn't have to separate for a small time being, until the next day. The thought saddened him, but he tried to put on a happy face. Come now, Hadley. It's only until tomorrow.

"I..I.." Emma tried finding the words to voice what she was trying to say. She turned her head into his chest and burrowed into it before muffling into his shirt. "I don't want us to go back and pretend today never existed. Please, reassure me this love won't die because we will be around others. It would crush me unbearably."

Hadley held onto her tightly. "I promise no such thing will happen. I won't allow it. If we find that we're having trouble opening up to each other around others, well then, we'll just have to go for a walk and spend some time together alone again." He pulled her away enough to look into her eyes. "I love you, Emma. I'd never do anything to hurt you, you know that. You have to trust me, okay?" And with that, he kissed her once more, hoping he has assuaged her fears.

"I love you too Hadley. I trust you with all my heart." Within that kiss, her fears were calmed. The fearful storm that had been brewing inside her had disappeared and she kissed him with all the emotion and passion she could. After she broke away from the kiss, she smiled at him and interlocked their fingers. Together, they walked over to Faust and Emma decided something. "I've got this, I think," she confidently said to Hadley. Emma put one foot into the notch and grabbed onto the horn of the saddle to pull herself up. Instead, Emma fell flat onto her back.

"Emma!" Hadley got down on his knees and bent over her with a look of pure terror on his face. His heart raced and he feared the worst. One could really hurt themselves falling from that height. "Are you alright?" He placed his hand on her head tenderly.

Emma frowned. Hadley appeared a bit of a world away and she seemed to be in a fish bowl. She had been so sure that she knew how to get on that she didn't stop to think perhaps she didn't, and now she felt as if she was far away. Emma became aware of a throbbing pain in her head and the last thing she could make out before she passed out, was Hadley's scared face two inches away from her own.

Hadley saw Emma's eyes close and knew she had become unconscious. Frightened for her health, he picked her up into his arms and, with much effort, placed her on Faust's saddle. He then grabbed the reins and walked Faust back to St. Joseph's as quickly as he could. Without unsaddling Faust, he pulled Emma off of him and into the building where he took her to his own room. He lay her on his bed and ran to the bathroom to retrieve a bowl of water and a washcloth. He returned to find her still unconscious and placed the water and rag on the table beside the bed and sat down beside her. He wet the rag and placed it on her forehead. He hoped that the coolness of the water would bring her back to consciousness.
