Realistic or Modern Reapers Saviors

Ash had more than enough time to get acclimated to the walk from the mansion to the city, the time passed by in a blur, her gaze focused on feet and the ground underneath her. Eventually the ground tuned to broken concrete, she was in the city again and it was even colder here, making her fold her arms across her chest.

A few minutes of walking down the sidewalk, ignoring beggars, street criers, and people in general, she came upon the Reaper who had driven her to the mansion, smoking and resting at a building.

Well...might as well get to know him.

Ash took baby steps toward the Reaper, trying her best to not recoil from the smell of smoke, stopping 3 paces away from him.

"Um...are you smoking to get your mind off of something or just for fun? Maybe you just want to seem cool?"

She bit her lower lip, immediately unsure of if she chose the right words to initiate conversation. Reapers had senses of humor...she hoped.

Dimitrius stood in the center of the office. He turned as the two of them walked in. He raised an eye brow then he said."Initiation cannot begin until I have given his assessment skill evaluation. I will need some attackers if either of you are interested though." He walked over to Daniel and said,"To the training room, make sure your katana is sharp. You are going to need it."

"I'll do it, alone if you don't mind, Demi." Again the laugh almost surfaced. Almost. "I'll be ready in the training room in a minute, 60 seconds, no more. If you're late, I'll start shooting immediately." He said as he walked towards the room, pistols in their holsters. He still needed to retrieve his rifle through, and other nasty surprises. None enough to kill, but to inflict pain was easy. Still he had basic hand to hand, no doubt inferior to the boy's. He would never go all out through, no that would probably destroy the room, but nevertheless he needed to be serious if it would be a true battle situation.

Emilia looked at the papers laid out on the table in front of her, a client had recent approached her to gather information on a group calling themselves the 'Reapers'. Among the papers were the details of the job and the few scraps of information her client had on the group, the one consistent description of the group she could find was that veteran members had 'dead eyes' shambling through the streets like they had already died. The rest of the infomation, as far as she could tell was rubbish, silly rumors about how the members had superpowers and other tall tales.

Laying down her cup she paid the old woman who owned the bakery she'd been staking out, having heard a rumor of a tall man who seemed to fit the description of the members to near perfection frequenting it and had been coming here daily for some time, though today was different. Spotting a man who seemed to fit the rumor leaving the building she waited a few moments and began to follow him, a block down the man stopped, lighting a cigarette and beginning to speak with a brown haired girl, not know if she would have another opportunity like this she approached him, giving the man a small wave and speaking to him in a warm, friendly tone "Hi there, could you spare a few moments?"

"Vycent, I will allow you to do the attacking but you will do so according to the standards that I set. The evaluation is more then just a test, it is your first lesson as a Savior and therefore there is a certain way in which it must be conducted." Dimirtrius said, moving towards the training room.

Daniel nodded, showing them both that he understood clearly. He made his way to the training room. When he arrived, he there his suit jacket into the corner and rolled up the sleeves of his dark blue dress shirt. Loosening his tie slightly, Daniel cracked his fingers and neck. As he stood, waiting, he closed his eyes and began meditating. He figured he might as well do so while he waited.

Damien looked up when the girl approached him. He was surprised. Before she had seemed so scared of him. He politely blew the smoke he held in his lungs in the opposite direction of her so she wouldn't be forced to smell it all. "I guess it's too get my mind off things" he answered, struggling a little to his feet. He stomped out his cigarette on the ground and asked "have you finished your mission?"

"Fine, but I'm not stupid. I know my strengths and weaknesses. If you tell me to do something that would ensure my defeat, then I would have to tell him exactly how he got the jump on me. If I will lose, then he will know just how much I was holding back." He said with a professional tone. "Still I will not kill the boy, if that's what you're worried about. He does not look as stupid as the Reaper who thought he could just stroll in here and live to tell the tale."

"You will not be in a full sparring match." Dimirtrius finished saying as he walked into the training room with Vycent. He walked around Daniel and spoke in a very direct voice. "So, you want to be a savior. You know Vycent, he will be helping with our process here. You think you have what it takes to be a Savior. Tell me this, what is a Savior? What do we do?"

To her relief, the man answered her question without lashing out at her, physically or verbally. He stood up stomping on the cigarette.

"Oh! Yeah I did, much earlier thanks to a certain someone!"

She didn't know why but she was speaking to this man in a friendlier manner. She was still scared of him but her true social skills were slowly seeping out of her mouth as with any person. She wanted to ask what was on his mind when another lady appeared, asking for the man's attention. Ash kept her mouth shut and backed up a few inches, watching with curiosity.

Daniel eye's fluttered open as the boy began asking him questions. His questions floating in Daniel's mind as he tried to come up with an answer. Clearly, there was no definite correct answer, but there was a wrong one. So he simply had to avoid saying the wrong answer.

"For me to tell you what a Savior is, I first must tell you what they do. A Savior is an individual that protects the innocent when they cannot protect themselves" he replied to the boy.

"Textbook answer." Vyncent said with no emotion as he flicked off the first safety of the sniper rifle on his back with a movement that made him look like he was stretching. He was tired after all. He did so much work and had yet to catch a wink of sleep. If he would duel, one like this was just enough to put him down if he did not perform with his absolute best."And what do we do?"

Next, Vyncent was the one to ask. Unsurprisingly so, he had no emotion as he commented on Daniel's answer. It was a text book answer because Daniel was a textbook kind of person. You see, it was because of Vyncent that he knew there was no one correct answer. He was different from the others, in fact, he sat on the fence between being a Savior or a Reaper. Daniel concluded that much like then others, he must've suffered an experience with the Reapers in the past which lead to him joining the Saviors. Without needing to think to much, Daniel answered his question: "Whatever is necessary to accomplish what needs to be done".

"Did he just say whatever is necessary, Demi?" Vyncent asked with a sarcastic tone, the most emotion he put in his voice, in public mind you, the entire week. He continued, his voice cold and low, but in the silence he might as well have been shouting. "Whatever is necessary, and if we have to kill an innocent, if we have to steal from the poor, if we have to betray our comrades, if we have to desecrate and ruin the lives of others, if we have to destroy the very thing we uphold to do? What if that is what needs to be done? What then?"

"Our core job is to protect those who cannot protect themselves. We do not end our days looking for the number of people we have killed, we end our days looking for the number of people we have saved. Vycent has probably mentioned that he has killed more reapers then I have. That is true and I give him credit for that. He is one of the best saviors we have had. However, this needs to be remembered. I am far more reluctant to take another's life. I do not like killing. Vycent has a much easier time putting aside his personal feelings to do what needs to be done. As Savior's we need to exceed expectations. Some people strive to be their best, that does not work around here. We need you better then your best. Every moment that you are breathing, there is a Reaper looking to kill you. The only way you are going to survive is to be faster, stronger and smarter then those Reapers. Of those three, it is more important to be smarter. Even if you are the best fighter in the world, it means nothing if you cannot think. Use your senses, all of your senses or you are dead." He gave a small signal behind his back to tell Vycent to attack a bit then back off.

Damien turned on his heel when he heard the other woman's voice. "Sure" he said simply. "I have nothing better to do." He looked the woman over, inspecting for any visible or possibly hidden weapons. He turned back towards Ash for a moment and said, "This should only take a second..." which was also a kind way to tell the newcomer to be quick with whatever she had to say. He had all the time in the world for the next two days, but he still didn't like speaking with regular citizens, for fear of having to kill them later.

"He's wrong, you know." Vyncent said with a low tone after gave his own speech. "You've been dead for a while now." There was no warning, no sound, no wind, no signal when the pistols flew from their holsters and fired, rapidly. The only noise the in the room was the clicking of triggers, infinitely faint and loud enough only for Vyncent to here as he fired round after round of rubber bullets. He would fulfill his promise of not killing the boy, but if it was a real fight, death would have came for him already. He counted three misses, all on purpose: the first few rounds.

Expecting that kind of answer from Vyncent even though they had just met, Daniel already had an answer. "Whatever is necessary to protect those that can't protect themselves. All of the things you said would go against that" he told him.

He then turned his attention to Demitrius as he explained what the Saviors core job was. He listened to his words attentively, making sure to memorize every detail from them. Daniel knew what he was saying was a crucial part of joining the Saviors.

As soon as Daniel heard the first shot, he instantly jolted up and spun to face his attacker. He dodged as best as he could but did not unsheath his sword.

Dimitrius continued walking around Daniel, although his circle got broader and broader."A Savior must be aware of his surrondings at all times. They must always know when to risk a fight and when to not. You can kill a hundred Reapers but it means nothing if a thousand innocent die in the process. Know what could happen if you attack. Rushing blindly into a fight only serves to get you killed." He made another sign to Vyncent.

Claire rolled her eyes as she listened to the two boys speak. There was obvious tension between them, and poor Daniel was stuck right in the middle. "I end my days looking for both the number I have killed and the lives I have saved. And isn't it true that by killing more, you save more lives? Vincent is the best, in my personal opinion. Not only can he beat almost any competitor that comes his way, but he is also smart and fast. But the reapers are strong, fast, and smart too. Very much so. I've experienced my fair share of them as well, and I must say that I am lucky to still be here today. You have to also understand how they work and when to attack. Know their schedules, their routines. Strike them when they are their weakest. That's the key. Remember that. They are given time frames to complete a job. That's when I've found is best to strike. They are so hellbent on getting their target in time that they often overlook enemies"

Daniel listened closely to the advice being given to him. He had spent many years as a warrior, but none as a Savior. These lessons were going to determine whether he was able to help save this city nor whether he'd die like the rest. As he listened to Claire carefully, he took Dimitrius' advice and paid close attention to his surrounding. Daniel ignored the ache of the rubber bullets as readied himself for Vyncent's next strike. This time, he saw Dimitrius' signal and was prepared.

"Come with the intent to kill, but only direct that to your target. Only one must die during a mission, and that is the Reaper. If any other fall, they must be Reapers as well or you have failed. But to fail is but a step on the road to success." He saw the signal, true, but the onslaught continued. He did not stop, reload or change weapons, but continued firing round after round, striking wherever he could. He was almost short on ammunition, and that was when the man would strike.

Click.

There it was.

"We Saviors must have the skills to survive. Adaptation is one of your best friends what will you do," as he rounded behind Daniel he quickly grabbed the handle of Daniel's sword and drew it. He slid it across the room and continued his circling, "When you are separated from your weapons. What is the best choice? Go after your weapon and keep your eyes on the enemy?"
*or*

Like Vyncent had predicted, Daniel waiting for his animation to run low. Click. The moment he heard the sound, Daniel's demeanor completely changed. He instantly charged ahead. Unfortunately, moments before Dimitrus' took his sword. None the matter with a hard, focused look Daniel attacked. He ran towards Vyncent, but instead of striking, he slid under him and popped up on the other side. Daniel, threw a sharp kick at Vyncent's lower back. It was clear that the he had many years of martial arts.
