Fantasy Realms of Nymserine: Characters [[CLOSED]]


Cassia
Name: Cassia

Cassia sports a dark, mildly fraying cloak, a silver ring with an oblong, milky white stone. The stone turns more and more black as she regains mana, much like a mood ring. The darker it is, the more potent her magic is. Under her sharp dark eyebrows are yellow irises, and along the right side of her face is a marring of scars from the claws of a demon. Her hair is a dull brown, similar to the hue of a dead tree. While she looks young because she is, her gaze is that of one who has seen too much pain. Seems pretty harmless until you're writhing on the ground, your mind as your own enemy. Her smile sports sharp, white canines, perfect for tearing flesh- I mean looking pretty. Her bronze horns are still young, raising only about an inch out of her head.



  • Weapons & Armor:

    She carries a dagger. Cassia wears a glove made from leather wrapped around her hand with nails studding the outer part for a particularly nasty punch. She avoids fighting, and has better evading tricks, like tossing vials of coloured powder that ends up erupting into smoke. Cassia uses her magic to delay and debilitate in order to escape, rather than to kill.

    Skills & Abilities:

    Magic: From afar or up close, Cassia can contort the mind of even a strong warrior into chaos, rendering him a blubbering mess. Her mana takes time to recover, however, so potency depends on recovery time and whatnot. The perceived enemy is sent into a concentrated mess of their own personal hell; their worst memories, their greatest fears, ad their most sickening nightmares. She creates the illusion of pain, fear, and suffering, causing the person on the receiving end to crumble to the ground, holding their head, willing the invasive thoughts away. Crippling self doubt, self-hatred, and fear are her weapons. The catch? She can only focus on one person at a time. At least, for now.

    Botany: Healing herbs, poisonous herbs, plants that will make your skin shine - It's a family skill and trade, and Cassia is no exception. She always has little vials on her for collecting herbs and odd substances.

Details of Appearance: Morrigan is a dark-skinned, full-figured mage with a thick lustrous head of curls. She stands a height of 5'8 but may shorter as she is prone to slouching. Her eyes are colored a faintly purple hue, which is one of her defining physical features. Morrigan can often be seen wearing a cloak over her clothes when she goes out, and she is known for carrying a mysterious book around where ever she goes.



  • Weapons & Armor:

    The Necronomicon is one of Erebus's most ancient and legendary artifacts dating back to the first era of Nymserine. This grimoire is first and foremost a book of knowledge. The Necronomicon posses the name of every deceased person that has ever walked the face of Nymserine, as well as details on that person's life. Secondly, the grimoire is a conduit of magic power and acts as a wand or staff, however, the Necronomicon can only be used to amplify the effects of death magic. In the hands of a necromancer, the book can be used to reanimate the corpse of anyone who has ever died as opposed to just those whose bodies are near. The stronger the target, however, the more magic need to raise and maintain the corpse. So raising the corpse of a former demigod would be nearly impossible without godlike mana reserves. Lastly, the Necronomicon is a burden as it passively drains the mana of whoever wields at all times, however, this price is significant. If the holder of the Necronomicon should ever take a mortal wound. The mana stored in the tome is channeled toward the holder and will maintain their life until the grimoire's mana store runs out.

    The dragon flute is an exotic ceremonial instrument. It is made from the durable material of dragon bone and is embellished with two emerald eyes. The flute is high quality and is capable of producing a stunning quality of music, however, the Dragon flute also doubles as a deadly blowgun that fires silent needles. As a blowgun, the Dragon flute is extremely accurate even has self-storage for a variety of needles. If these needles are aimed for the right points in the human body they can cause extreme pain and even paralysis without being fatal. The flute is akin to a wand or staff and can act as a conduit for both music magic.

    This enchanted cloak is the family heirloom of the Nightlock family and has been passed down for generations. The cloak is made from high-quality black silk and bears the household insignia of a spider. The cloak is enchanted with three runes that only activate when the wearer perceives themselves in danger. The rune of agility which slightly increases the wearer's movement speed, the rune of diffusion which weakens magic that comes in contact with it, and the rune of obfuscation which makes the wearer harder to stay focused on. While runes are inactive the cloak is just an ordinary high-quality cloak.

    The bag of holding is a magical satchel that has the ability to hold a near infinite amount of items. This item was crafted by mages for mages and is sold at a ridiculously high price. Once the item is stored to retrieve one must think of the item while reaching into the bag. The item is retrieved but at the expense of mana making a poor bag for magically disinclined or stunted as it would tire the user quickly.
    Skills & Magic:

    ~~~Skills~~~
    -Musician- Morrigan has been a dedicated musician since she can remember. She spends lots of he free time composing and playing music for the dead and dying. She was taught early own how to infuse her own mana into her songs to yield different effects on her listeners.


    -Scholar- Morrigan has an obligation to master the powers of death, so she dedicates her self to studying whenever she can.

    -Baker- Living in the plains where there is an abundance of wheat ones learns a thing or two about bread making.

    -Historian- She loves to study the rich history of Nymserine. Morrigan is obsessed with the past, and more specifically the dead people of the past.

    -Physician- Morrigan is no cleric or mystical healer however she is very familiar with the anatomy of various species as she need to be in order to utilize her weapon to the best of its ability. She can provide basic first aid for the injured.

    -Marksman- The demigod is extremely proficient with her silent but effect blowgun.

    ~~~Magic~~~
    Spectral Vision- Morrigan can see ghost, spirits, specters, and anything else on the astral plane including the souls of others. The soul of human soul can say a lot about them.

    Fear Aura- Animals instinctively avoid Morrigan. Beings who had yet to learn magic feel an unexplained chill when she is near. With practice Morrigan has learned how to amplify this to instill fear into her opponents and avoid a direct conflict.

    Death Sense- Morrigan can sense death on the physical plane, through smell and is able to intervene to prologue ones life if the death was an unnatural one. Different types of deaths smell differently.

    Decomposition- Decomposition magic is Morrigan's most practiced magic. With this magic she can siphon out the life force energy from living matter in order to induce rapid decay. She can control the speed and area of the decay however it is often extremely painful for non-plant creatures regardless of the speed or area effected. Her magic can be applied through purple spheres of condensed decay magic or through skin to skin contact. This is Morrigan's go to magic as it is easy to use and she can control how lethal it is.

    ~~~Advanced Magic~~~
    Necromancy- Morrigan is learning to raise the dead and command them without fail, however this is still difficult for her. She can only raise one or two dead at a time until she masters this ability. The corpse she raise have all the knowledge, personality, memories, and physical/magical abilities of the original. Corpses do no feel pain and are subject to her will until they are damaged beyond repair. Morrigan strives to achieve magic on pair with her father, who can raise legions of dead with a snap, however this is still only a dream.

    Soul Magic- This is the most powerful and deadly form of death magic. With mastery one could separate the soul and body of a victim effectively killing them immediately. Soul stealing, soul swapping, and possession are all achievable through soul magic, however learning soul magic is extremely difficult, extremely taxing on the physical body, and extremely dangerous for an experienced caster. Countless mage have died trying to learn soul magic. So far Morrigan can only release the souls of the willing and dying.

Details of Appearance: A short girl at 5’2”, Tieve is also pretty thin and lithe in build. She has practically no muscle and holds an overall delicate appearance. Blue-grey markings show on her face, back and arms. She has short white hair and bangs and pale skin. Her eyes are large and glassy, matching the color of her marks. When Tieve has vision or uses her abilities, her eyes turn a cloudy, milky color and her markings glow brighter.


  • Weapons & Armor: Tieve has no physical weapons or armor. She rarely ever sees combat and relies a lot on her psychic abilities to avoid and evade danger.

    Skills & Abilities: While Tieve has a powerful mind, she is very frail and weak, and unable to do a lot of physical exertion. Too much excitement or exercise can cause Tieve to have breathing issues or to even faint. As a result of this, she is rarely ever allowed outside and has very pale skin.
    Tieve’s talents mainly revolve around her psychic and empathic abilities. She has visions triggered by events and key words and can also see into future of her own will. Time and paths of destiny are constantly changing with each decision that is made. Most predictions can be changed if alternate decisions and actions are made... however, some things are inevitable.

    Empathy: Her empathic abilities consist of being able to read emotions, feelings, and to some extent, thoughts of others. People do not have to be near her for her to read them, but she does need something like a name or a drawing of their face and some preliminary information to read people she’s never met before.

    Intelligence and Wisdom: All souls reincarnate, but Tieve can remember and actually access memories and experiences of her past lives as well as see the past lives of others. Even without those memories, Tieve has an expansive well of knowledge and wisdom that comes with her birthright. Of course she doesn’t know everything and there are still secrets of the world hidden even to her. The older she gets the more powerful her abilities become and the more access she gains to information and knowledge. At a young age, her powers are much more muted and raw. A lot of training is required each life for her to make use of her abilities.

    Time: While Tieve can not control time, she is able to slow it down to a degree. She can also make an area of space where time is still. The world moves on around it, but anyone and anything inside the bubble of influence ceases to be affected by time, and cannot be seen from outside the bubble.

Scheherazade is not a "looker" according to the standards of her time. Her looks are more exotic with her olive-toned complexion, ginger-blond hair, and captivating blue clear eyes. Scheherazade is also noted for her long, elegant neck. She knew she possessed a beauty like no other and used this fact to her advantage. Even those who loathed her admitted that she had a dramatic allure. Her dark complexion and unusual hair gave her an exotic aura in a culture that saw milk-white paleness as essential to beauty. Her eyes were especially striking.

Weapons & Armor. Scheherazade dosen't wear armour although she has tried yet is cost to much and taking care of it was a hasle, in the end it was to heavy and she could barely walk. Her weapons are another thing she carries many daggers and knows how to use them to her advantage.
Skills & Abilities. Manipulation; Hand to gand combat; Swordsmanship; Fast runner; Flexibality; Silver-tounged.

Passionate and headstrong, Scheherazade possesses the strength and fire of a true individual. She is known for being intelligent, determined, and fearless. However, she was also seen as ambitious, harsh, and quick-tempered. Scheherazade is a rather polarising figure. People seem to either love her or hate her (like marmite*), and she’s surrounded by contradictory labels and opinions. Scheherazade's charm lay not so much in her physical appearance as in her vivacious personality, her gracefulness, her quick wit and other accomplishments. She was petite in stature and had an appealing fragility about her. Under stressful circumstances, Scheherazade could be sharp-tempered, verbally aggressive and sharp-tongued. She has a gentle heart when needed -- showing kindness to the feeble. She is certainly ambitious, determined, tenacious, and even ruthless. Her loyalty to, and pride in, her family is strong. She is sophisticated, vivacious, and witty but could also be high-strung, sharp-tempered and vindictive. Yet her strength, boldness, and courage were never in doubt.

Details of Appearance: Tura almost always prefers her gryphon form: She stands as tall as a knight’s charger, easily able to fly with two people on her back. Her wingspan is nearly four times the length of her body. Her head, forelegs and wings resemble those of an eagle, but with a thicker, rounder beak and legs. Her hindquarters are those of a lion, sinuous and strong. From feathers to fur her body is midnight black, though her feathers carry a purple, iridescent sheen when they catch the light. Her beak and talons are deep yellow and her eyes are a brilliant violet. If one ever has the chance to look very closely, one would find that beneath the inky black on her feathers there are traces of a fawn-coloured dappling, evidence that the feathers are actually dyed. In truth she is coloured tawny brown, the reason for the concealment is a mystery.

As a human she is of medium build, with dark hair that looks constantly windswept. Her face is long and angular and handsome in a fierce way. She wears combat leathers and armoured gauntlets tapered to points like talons. She is tall, standing about 5'10 and lithe, thick, flowing clothes concealing a body trained for combat. The woven bands on her forelegs as a gryphon form on her forearms underneath her armour as a human. They have a connection to her past.





  • Weapons & Armor: As a gryphon Tura possesses talons the size of battle horns and a wickedly sharp beak. As a human she carries the gauntlets, embedded in the gauntlets are charged gemstones that help amplify her powers. Tura avoids carrying a blade unless absolutely necessary, she much prefers fighting as a beast.

    Skills & Abilities: Tura knows the techniques of casting in several elements, though she is strongest with lightning. With fire and water she can create bursts large enough to shroud a small house. If the spell involves lightning, she can channel a full bolt and direct it at will. Tura can also teach mind magic: how to make people sleep, or forget, how to implant false memories and bend a weak-willed mind. She refuses to teach mind magic however until she absolutely sure it will not be used for evil purposes.

Jastyr Demorian
Name: Jastyr Demorian

Race: Satyr
Details of Appearance:
His silhouette is broad, imposing, and tall standing at 6’4”. Horns protrude from his skull, curling thickly in spirals at the sides of his head in a gleaming onyx glazed with a subtle iridescent sheen like stars in the blanket of night. The musculature built upon his frame denotes his physical aptitude as a fighter and protector, his skin hatched with scars and marks of his history in battle. Dark grey eyes are set under a low and bushy brow finely lined with animated expressions often used in the portrayal of his open emotions. His dark brown hair is kept long often pulled away from his face.


  • Weapons & Armor: To add to his natural bulk, Jastyr prefers a meshing of plate and mail both for protection while allowing for a bit of mobility. The armor is nothing ornate or fantastical and shows signs of wear and repair.

    Conversely, his weapons are more decorated, contrasting to the rest of his simplicity. The shield he carries spans the length of his upper body, the circular shape adorned with a flora motif. The metal is riveted, raised, and embossed with care and artistry, the iron lined with marks both shallow and deep to denote its use for generations. His sword was made to match his shield in a set, the hit filigreed with the same motif in silver. Upon the blade are words embossed within the metal that reads “With Adamine, Find Peace.” It is a reminder to the one that wields the sword that he not lose himself to the heat of battle.

    Skills & Abilities: Jastyr is more of a protector than a fighter, better suited for close quarters and support for those he aligns himself with. The crown of his head is thick allowing him to take substantial hits to the head without much damage, which makes headbutting a favorable move for the satyr.

    He is magically inclined, accessing this ability through surrounding nature and through his music. Both are rarely used for offensive means, and rather used instead to protect or heal.

Race: Demi-God of Fire
Details of Appearance: Sol stands at 5'7 and weighs 149 pounds. His red spiky hair matches his crimson eyes, and his slim body is a lot stronger than it looks at first glance. In fact, he's strong enough to carry around a large sword with relative ease. He usually wears light armor that lets him move freely in battle.



  • Weapons & Armor: Sol's sole weapon is rumored to have been crafted using the flames of Aurora's phoenix. The sword, Dawnfang, is completely resistant to fire (like the rest of his equipment) and also burns anyone without the owner's permission to touch it, regardless of any resistances.
    Skills & Abilities: Along with his proficient swordsmanship, Sol uses massive reserves of mana to summon and control fire. Although his mana has various uses, it can only recover in the light of day.
    Spells:
    Fire Bending - Aside from the spells listed below, Sol can blast flames from all types of places and even set the things he's touching on fire.
    Circle of Flames - Sol can release a spherical blast of fire from his body. The strength and radius of the flames increases with the amount of mana used.
    Ekusploooshun! - After focusing his attention to a targeted area, he can create a fiery explosion that leaves naught but ash in its wake. The strength and size of the explosion is determined by the amount of mana used, although it consumes a significant chunk of mana even at its weakest.
    Cauterize Wounds - He could use his flames to seal opened wounds and make it easier for the target to recover health.
    Praise the Sun - In the light of dawn and dusk, Sol is given large boosts to his speed, power, and mana and health regeneration. He is generally in peak condition when covered in sunlight.
    Blaze - He can pour his mana into a storm of fire that continuously burns everything caught within.
