Quarantine 2040

Julian goes closer to the shelter. "Well, I'll scout the shelter." As Julian walks away towards it, he notices a keypad. "Shoot. We need a code. Let's check the house by the entrance."

The woman listened to his comments, but took no heed of them. All people were the same, apparently. Rude and unaccommodating. A small voice inside her, one that she hadn't heard in a few months, said You're being the same way.

She knew she was. But at the same time, she didn't want to be any different, not for complete strangers. Part of her old self reared its head, saying to throw a sarcastic comment their way. But her grief kept her from regaining her old self. Her friends would have said the same, but they abandoned her long ago, for her enemies. No friends, only enemies. No questions, only answers other people didn't want to hear.

The boy noted that there was a keypad, and that they would need a code to get in. The rain was beginning to stop, leaving her dripping and cold as the wind howled past her.

She stared at the shelter, and it seemed odd to her. The keypad might've been for security, but in this day and age, who could afford a keypad, let alone know how to install one? And why have one on a safety shelter, where people were trying to protect themselves from the infecteds?

A low growling sounded behind her. The woman turned, and saw Infected coming towards her. A quick count told her it was fifteen, maybe twenty. Even she had never taken on so many before; but she wasn't the least bit afraid.

She unsheathed both her swords, taking a step past the man. None of them had given their names, but that was alright. She was planning to fight them alone, anyway. The boy mentioned a house, and with a quick glance the woman noted its importance. She'd need a place to get anyone who got in the way, and hopefully there was no keypad on that building. She stood, recounting them and noting that the original fifteen had been joined by ten more, all eager to begin the feast. Thirty now. The woman flipped her blades, stretching her wrists and cracked her neck by turning her head right and left.

Then she took a step back, preparing to dart towards the large group of thirty-two infecteds.

"Oh wait, my girlfriend has the code. I'll go to her house. You guys try to form an alliance and defend this place."

"Alliances get you killed. I fight alone." The woman said with a icy tone

She readied herself, her blades shining with water and an almost eagerness to steal more lives. Infected lives, to be precise. Her face showed no emotion as she darted towards the group, beginning to cut down them one by one. Soon she was surrounded, and her blades flashed, a infected head rolling away from its previous owner. But more came, and the woman had a calculating look on her face. She tried to use strategy, but she was in the middle of a street. Infecteds all around her, not moving because of her threatening blades. Was this the end of her? Was no one to know her name?

The woman spotted a pipe running alongside a building, and decided to take a chance. She whipped her blades about her, dashing to the pipe. She doubted it would hold her weight, but she only needed it for a second. She jumped, grabbing the pipe and kicked against the wall, flipping herself onto a balcony.

The infected, seeing her out of reach, turned hungrily to the boy and the man, and she rolled her eyes. Was she going to have to save them again?

"He dies, you die too. Defend him or you die."
The woman lept off the balcony, flipping in the air and landing before them, both of her swords dripping with the red liquid they had stolen. "I wouldn't make threats if I were you, boy. Not to me."

She took a breath, and watched as they ran awkwardly towards her. She sped forward, twisting in air as she brought her swords down, stabbing and pulling quickly. All the time, her face never changed. She wasn't angry, sad, afraid. She was practically a machine.

Almost like she was one of the Infecteds herself.

More Infecteds came, and one got a lucky blow, clawing at her arm. Without a cry or a scream she cut him down, regarding the serious, bleeding wound as nothing as she continued to fight. Not one of them will get lucky again, she thought to herself, swinging the swords around her in a dance of steel and flesh.

(Sorry for the wait)

David raised his weapon and prepared himself to fight. "Be careful! And hurry up!" He yelled addressing Julian, but didn't look at him. He sighed when the strange woman said that she wanted to fight alone, but didn't say anything. "Do whatever you want." He thought. Julian's attempt to threaten her surprised him. "Defind him or die."

He had to smile after hearing that. Somebody cared about his life. It was quite heart-warming.

He dodged one of the infected that tried to grab him and slashed the back of it's head, using the momentum to hit another one in the face shortly after. More and more blood collected on the tomahawk he used as he slashed down the infected one by one. He could take care of himself and protect Julian. What makes that woman participate in this? Why did she help them earlier?

"What is it with you?! How about you stop acting badass for a second!!" He yelled as he darted towards one of the infected, smashing it's rib cage. Blood splashed onto his face as he pulled the tomahawk back out. He quickly wiped it off of his face with his hand, catching a small glimpse of what looked like an infected clawing to her arm. He rolled his eyes before he darted to her and stood behind the mysterious woman with his back. "I'm going to watch your back. I don't care if you like it or not. I'm just returning the favor." He looked around and noticed that there were more infected as before. "Yeah yeah, i know. You don't need my help. You fight alone. I get it. You don't have to watch my back. Just don't be rude for a second and let me help, alright? Thank you very much!" He didn't give her a chance to respond. Honestly, he didn't care about what she was thinking about at that time.

He didn't like her. He didn't like her at all. But still... She's just another human trying to survive... Still, he wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible. "Hurry the hell up, Julian..." He thought before charging at another infected, chopping it's head clean off.

Those brought back memories that the woman had tried to stifle many months ago. Come on Spikes, don't be rude. Let me help, alright?

Which made her soften, for a moment, as this man lept into action at her back. He said he would watch her back, and didn't care if she didn't watch his. The group of infected surrounded them, and her arm began to sting and bleed a bit more than she wanted it to, at the moment. Ten, maybe twelve left. She had watched this man fight, and he was nearly as skilled as she was.

The woman hardened her gaze, calculating. She couldn't let memories and the emotions they brought overwhelm her or even touch her. Emotions get you killed.

"If you take care of six, I'll do the same. Half and half. Agreed?" She requested, putting aside her beliefs for a minute so that she could make it out of here alive. An infected got too close, and she cut off it's arm with a slice of her sword. Her injured arm was growing in intensity of pain, but she ignored it. To do so she backed up, touching the man's back until they were back to back. She raised both swords, though her arm screamed from the pain of being used. "Agreed?"

"Agreed" He responded quickly and raised his weapon, surprised that she cooperated. "Alright. Six infected. Let's go". His eyes narrowed as he kicked one of the infected back, splitting the head of another's open. He quickly stomped on the head of the one lying on the ground he kicked before, swinging the tomahawk at the next one. "How are we holding up? Can you still fight with that injury?" He asked, but kept his eyes on the infected.

"I'm fine," the woman growled through gritted teeth. Her swords lashed out, cutting two throats and two more infecteds went down. She blinked, and glanced his way, watched for a second as his tomahawk swung at another infected. He's good.

She spun on her heels, going low and stabbing upwards, catching the infecteds in their stomachs, disemboweling one and cutting another to ribbons. She came back up, making short work of another infected. One leaped at her "partner", aiming for the back of his neck. It's jaw was open wide, preparing for a kill.

Or it was, before the woman slammed her body into it. They both went rolling, her sword impaling it. She got up and backtracked to the man, jumping and landing a savage kick on the last one there. All around them, the stink of death hung. The bodies of the infected, once ordinary people, lay strewn across the street. More than thirty, and she'd be among the dead were it not for the man who had helped.

Breathing hard, stood next to the man, her head feeling heated. Now her arm decided to make sure she knew that it hurt, and she heard her swords clatter to the ground. Her vision went dark, and the last thing she heard was heavy breathing before she fell.

"Finally. I'm here." Julian walked into the house and knew where to look. After a few minutes of searching, he was on his way back. When he arrived, he saw the woman on the ground. "What happened?"

The number of infected sank, but so did his stamina. He kept his eyes focused on the one stumbling towards him, and collected momentum for his attack, not seeing the other one using the opportunity to catch him off-guard. In the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of it; One of them was already leaping at him and tried to bite him in the back of his neck.

His eyes widened in shock. He didn't have enough time to react. To his surprise, the woman he tried to help out tackled the infected just before it's teeth sank into his neck, impaling it with her sword. She immediately got up again and landed a savage kick on the last one, finishing the fight. He smiled as he panted heavily and looked at their work. They did an excellent job. He wouldn't have made it if she didn't save his ass earlier.

"Hey, thanks for-"

He was interrupted by a noise that sounded like something metallic falling to the ground, followed by something heavier. He looked to his right and saw her lying on the ground, next to the corpse of one of the infected.

"H-Hey!"

He kneeled down beside her and checked her breathing.

"Good. She's just unconscious..."

He noticed the high amount of blood on her arm and carefully lifted it, revealing the horrible injury.

"Oh... god..." It was a lot worse than he thought.

He heard Julians voice from behind.

He was back. Thank god.

"Julian! Quick, open the door!" He yelled and carefully picked the woman up, darting to the door. "She needs medical treatment immediately! There are medical supplies in the shelter, right??"

David nodded and ran inside, Julian following him. "Where are the medical supplies??" He yelled as he looked around. There had to be an infirmary somewhere. He ran through the hallway, glancing at the signs next to the doors. "No... no... where is it?!"

Almost running past his destination, he stopped in front of the door to the infirmary and darted inside. He layed her down on the sickbed and looked at Julian. "I have no idea what to do! She has a bad injury on her arm, and i think she lost a lot of blood!"

This was stressful. There weren't any other survivors in here who could help him out. Well, at least he didn't see any when he ran inside.

William was walking along the deserted streets, humming a tune to himself, when he heard sounds of fighting up ahead. Smiling at the thought of fighting, he ran towards the sounds and found only dead infected lying around, a couple still crawling towards a metal door. He quickly dispatched them and then walked towards the metal door and knocked on it, "Pizza delivery"

William heard voices inside and someone asking who he was, "Somebody who is crazy enough to be alive, and sane enough to be friendly. Ish"

William shook his head, "Nope, I'm just a cook sorry. However if somebody dies and you don't want them to go to waste" he spread his fingers and shrugged
