Puella Magica: The Grief Seeds (Lunar and Little Sister)

(This is the second time I ended up doing this >_<; I pretty much copied what I had before.)


"Avena...acting like that? That doesn't make any sense she would never be ruthless to anyone else!" Etsuko protested.


Kotone raised an eyebrow at the pink magical girl, "Well from what you think I'm guessing she's never showed you that side of her. Maybe it's best that you haven't seen it." She said.

 

[Little Sister]

Yuujiro looked at the distress the pink magical girl was emitting, but the dark-haired magical girl is true. Even though she has a fragment of hope for Avena. Though at this point that hope is foolish and wasted on her. Yuujiro let out a soft breath and naturally went to sooth the pink magical girl's fears.


"As you can see Avena doesn't have a well received reputation, to put it lightly. Many magical girls deem her as a threat through her actions and stray away from her. Avena in retrospect has isolated herself from the group of magical girls in the area, many are content at this arrangement. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and persuade her to change but the council will not have it. I'm sorry to say this but you should stay away from your "friend" or be cautious of her."

Etsuko calmed herself as best as she could upon hearing Yuujiro's explanation. But she still was confused as to why Avena would be a threat to other magical girls in the first place. And at this point, she certainly didn't want to stay away from Avena. Maybe she could help the other girl with persuading for her friend to change. "O-ok I suppose I could be cautious of her...but I agree with you! With how she can change..." Etsuko said with a slightly anxious tone.


Kotone felt less sure of change than the other two magical girls . She decided to stay quiet for now. The conversation had begun to interest her.

"It would be hard-pressed to change her." replied Yuujiro. "For her to actually change dwells on Avena, herself. It seems very unlikely that she would change at her own accord."


Yuujiro placed her fist under her chin as she crossed her other arm across her chest.


"Prehaps you might be able to change her ways, being her friend and all. But if you need any help. I'm here for you." she replied sincerely.


Yuujjiro smiled at the pink magical girl and held out her hand. "My name is Yuujiro."

 

[Lunar-Eclipse]

Etsuko had a gleam of hope upon hearing the Magical Girl's idea. She knew there could be a way to help her friend change and the solution was herself. And she was more than willing to go through with it. "Yes I know I can! And thank you, I probably will need help on the way." Etsuko said as confidentially as she could.


She held out her hand as well and shook it with Yuujiro's. "I'm Etsuko!" She smiled.


Kotone decided to speak up, "Perhaps you two are right. And I suppose I should introduce myself as well. My name is Kotone." The dark blue Magical Girl instead gave a small bow to them as her greeting.

"Nice to meet you Etsuko. You too, Kotone." replied Yuujiro with a smile. "I'm glad that we are willing to help Avena. We should find out a plan soon enough. However we can discuss that after obtaining some grief seeds." offered Yuujiro. There would be time for Avena's intervention after hunting witches.

Etsuko continued to smile and nodded upon hearing Yuujiro's offer. "Yeah hunting for grief seeds is pretty important huh? I'm fairly new to it though." She said rather sheepishly.


"It's alright. We can teach you some technique if you like. But for now we better get going." Kotone said. Before she came across the other Magical Girls she had been looking for a witch herself.

[Little Sister]

Yuujiro nodded her head. She began to walk out of the alleyway and look around her surrounding for a Witch's presence.


"Grief seeds are essential for a magical girl as it extracts the darkness within our Soul Gems. One doesn't know what happens if our Soul Gem turns completely black but one can assume its not fortunate." she said in an informative tone.


Yuujiro remembered something crucial and turned her head to look at Etsuko, "Be careful how much of your magic you use. When you use too much magic the darkness spreads faster. So be careful."

 

[Lunar-Eclipse]

Etsuko followed behind Yuujiro as Kotone stayed behind the both of them. When Yuujiro informed her about using her magic, the pink magical girl nodded. "I'll try to be careful then. Though I'm not very experienced with using weapons." She admitted.


Kotone looked around the area and scanned for any signs of witches nearby. She noticed something move to her left and cautiously walked towards to see what it was. Once she reached it she found it was a barrier at the entrance to an abandoned swimming pool. "I've found one. Come on, over here!" She said to the others.

 

[Little Sister]

"Not to worry. You'll figure it out." consoled Yuujiro. When she heard Kotone call out, Yuujiro turned back and quickly backtracked to Kotone.


"Nice work, Kotone." she smiled at the dark-haired magical girl. The barrier in front of them wasn't emitting malicious intent rather it felt very sad and compressive.

 

[Lunar-Eclipse]

Etsuko smiled and turned soon after Yuujiro had. She followed behind her quickly and came across the barrier along with them.


Kotone gave Yuujiro a small smile in return, "Thank you. I can tell this witch will be much different than the average chaotic ones." She said noting that she too could recognize the barrier's intent.


"Let's get going then." The dark haired girl said. She went in first and walked through the barrier.

 

[Little Sister]

Yuujiro nodded her head and followed Kotone in the Witch's barrier. Upon entering the Witch's barrier Yuujiro conjured up her seven-piked lance, symbolizing the sun and its rays. The barrier gloomy with various shades of gray there were no enemies at the moment. Not even the usual familiars were present.


"Best be on your guard." whispered Yuujiro, not daring to raise her voice in case she alerts the familiars or the witch of their presence.

 

[Lunar-Eclipse]

As soon as she made it through the barrier, Kotone made her sword appear. It had a dark metal blade and was embroidered with a spiky pattern on its blade and handle. The handle itself was dark blue and was swirled where it opened up to the blade. She too noticed how melancholic and empty the barrier was. The dark haired magical girl kept scanning the area to be prepared for whatever familiars could appear.


Etsuko also had her weapon appear along with Yuujiro and Kotone. It was her pink rounded scepter with a hole through the middle of the top where her magic was released. She nodded to Yuujiro's statement and kept her scepter close to her.

Yuujiro scanned the grey and bleak landscape and didn't see anything. She cautiously steeped forward her lance trailing at her side. However when she took a few steps forward the floor began to shake and before her eyes the ground began to break underneath her feet. Yuujiro quickly started to run hoping she might be able to outrun it.

 

[Lunar-Eclipse]

Kotone turned and saw Yuujiro as she began to run as the floor beneath them began to crumble. Her eyes widened and she put her sword to her side to run more easily. Etsuko noticed and panicked, she was the furthest behind in the group as they ran. She ran as fast as she could and tried to catch up with Yuujiro and Kotone. "Wait! Help!" She cried reaching her hand out for one of them to grab.

 

[Little Sister]

Yuujiro clenched her jaw tight as she heard Estuko's cry for help. Knowing that she only has one chance. In midst stride Yuujiro swiftly turned around and pointed at Etsuko with her spiked lance. In a flurry of light, ropes of sutras erupted from her lance and wrapped around Etsuko's body. Once the spell was successfully activated, Yuujiro turned around and continued to run as the cracks drew nearer.

 

[Lunar-Eclipse]

Etsuko was luckily saved by Yuujiro's spell and brought forward to where her and Kotone where running. It was just in time as the floor crumbled right where she was before. "T-thank you..." She said in a slightly timid tone.


As the collapsing floor drew closer, Kotone kept looking straight forward and ran faster. Suddenly, her eyes locked on a distant ledge that was taller than the floor they were on. "If we can make it there we'll be safe! We'll have to move faster to do it though!" She told the others.

 

[Little Sister]

"Your wel-come." she panted out. Yuujiro looked at were Kotone is gazing and ran faster towards the ledge. "We are almost there!"

Meanwhile Avena was at her hide out instead of going home. She picked up one of her grief seeds and gazed it in the light. She grinned to herself before putting it with the others. Avena closed her eyes before saying, "Hello. Kyuubey." The incubator gazed at Avena with his blank ruby eyes.

 

[Lunar-Eclipse]

Etsuko smiled to her and quickly faced forward to see the ledge Kotone had pointed out to them. She tried her best and managed to go faster towards their destination. Kotone led the way to where they were headed and quickly noticed a gap between the floor and the ledge. "We're going to have to jump!"She picked up the speed, "GO!" She jumped across and made it there safely. The dark haired girl then gestured for her comrades to follow.


Etsuko squealed and boosted her speed to jump across on the ledge as well. She sighed with relief once she made it.

 

[Little Sister]

Yuujiro used her sun lance as a pole vault allowing her reach the ledge with ease. She let out a sigh of relief , "Whew, that was a close call." Yuujiro turned to the two magical girls, "Luckily no one got hurt." she said with a smile. Yuujiro looked ahead, trying to find the witch. "I see nothing, so far." whispered Yuujiro.

Kyuubey sat down in front of Avena, "Hello Avena. Harvested another grief seed?" it commented. "I would have but I was disturbed. Everything is fine the other magical girls haven't really suspected anything."

 

[Lunar-Eclipse]

Etsuko turned around and watched as Yuujiro successfully made it to the ledge. "Yeah thank goodness." She responded smiling back to her friend.


Kotone looked forward to where the ledge led to. Yuujiro was correct, there was not a single thing to be found up ahead. It was just an empty pathway. "Not even any familiars...we'd better walk carefully just in case." The magical girl said and she began to lead the way for the group once again.

 

[Little Sister]

Yuujiro followed Kotone and Etsuko, looking behind the group. Her stomach filled with dread, 'I have the feeling something is coming up ahead.' mused Yuujiro. When the gang went forward down the empty pathway she felt a shift in the atmosphere. Yuujiro didn't understand what is happening but it seems that she didn't need to wait for long as it seems that the witch erupted from above.

Avena closed her eyes in contentment. 'Don't worry everything will fall into place." she told Kyuubey. The incubator didn't answer Avena or blink as well, he merely twirled his tail before leaving in the shadows.

 

[Lunar-Eclipse]

Kotone narrowed her eyes as she kept moving forward, "You're probably right. The witch must be trying to attack us by surprise." She whispered.


The sudden shift in the atmosphere frightened Etsuko and she stopped dead in her tracks. She looked up above and found small white dots in the shadows of the top. "Familiars!" She yelped. The dots stretched out and shot straight down. She quickly dodged the attempt from them to stab her.

 

[Little Sister]

Yuujiro dodged away from the familiars, as well as she could on the narrow pathway. She strike against one of the familiars with her lance dispelling it into smoke. Truthfully she didn't think she vanquished the familiar. 'We can't take any shelter from them in this barren land' thought Yuujiro.


Yuujiro held her lance in front of her, as she look a chance to see her fellow comrades behind her. "Run! I'll try fend them off with my barrier!" she called out.

Avena sat on a stone and casually looked at the night sky. "Its just a matter of time before they find out the truth." She smiled to herself, relishing on the future that lies ahead. It was the only thing that she was looking forward to. Avena didn't care about anything else.
