I know on a site I used to be a part of, we had an 18+ area for these kind of rps. Basically, the site rules stated that no one under the age of 18 was allowed to view or post in it. No, there was no way to verify someone's age with absolute certainty, but it put the legality ball in the court of the individual, so to speak. If there was ever a problem that actually went as far as court, the individual in question would basically be forced to claim ignorance of the site rules (which is not a valid excuse), or that they lied about their age-making them the guilty party. Even in the thread main title were the words "18+". Yet another required that members add "18+" to an rp thread title as a warning to minors if the rp would or may contain certaon manners of explicit content. Personally, I don't care much, but could the same system be implemented here for those who want to use it? Legally speaking?

I'm thinking if my RP has a timeskip and she's had children... I'm awfully sorry, I suffer with slight autism so I get confused at some points.

Implied sex and the like is absolutely fine. Erotic content is more in the ballpark of description of genitals/genital touching (including breasts.)

No but in all seriousness, I fully agree with the ban on ERP's, You can never be sure of someone else's age, and I feel like trying to make ERP's possible on RPN would just be a waste of time, time that can be spent on adding features.

I'm personally really thankful for the lack of erotic role-playing. I've been on sites before that allowed it and it soon became a meeting place for the horny creepers, and I'd assume the same would happen to RPN. There are times every now and then that I do crave a little eroticness, but overall I'm happy. 

I think that's the biggest issue as there are sites for writing erotic content, but it usually just becomes a hub for pure smut mongers. Then there are those of us that would just like to casually RP and not 'fade to black' if those things did come up... Alas, there's no meeting halfway, so I think it's best to live without out. (As half-baked, out-of-place, forced smut is no fun.)

Although I've never had a problem with the no erotic roleplaying, due to the fact I prefer not having extreme sexual themes in roleplays, I do thank you for writing a more detailed explanation why it isn't allowed. 


I'd be pissed if I found out the site had been shut down thanks to people not following the rules or listening to the staff and going off to do their mature/erotic roleplays here.


I love this community, and this site practically screams to me "home". I don't know about you, but I don't usually think of home as a place to get laid.

No. Users may not advertise for erotic content on RpNation or its services, even if said content is to be produced offsite.


Additionally, links to offsite contact or names (discord servers, chatrooms, skype, etc) may only be exchanged via PM.

I personally think this is a good thing. I remember on Facebook, sometimes all you would find was smut rpers, never wanted to build a story, just smut. That really killed my drive to rp, so why not just build the story line and if you want your chara intimate with another, you don't have to be detailed about it, do it like a movie where it all fades to black before anything is shown. I prefer it this way, plus it keeps from anyone getting in trouble.

You are allowed to privately link to others via PM discord links and other methods of communication for the purposes of site RPing. You just can't do it for the explicit purpose of offsite erotic rping. We also don't want our platform to become a hub for users to find each other and then just meet else where for the erotic content. At least not become one where I'm conscious of it.

Of course, of course. I'd think, even if it were allowed, I'd be too embarrassed to even attempt it, but it was just throwing that out there.

In all honesty I am very grateful for this stance on RPN. RpN has become a family affair in my house. My fiancé and I both are on here and just last week got our 14 year old cousins set up here. 


I had suggested the girls joining here because I feel it is much safer and family friendly than other forums. That being said, I would not even bat an eyelash at reporting anyone soliciting to the girls. It is my job to protect them in the real world and online. 


Though, I would take it to an admin not go crying to the host. However, it gives me peace of mind when I see the administration on RPN so on the ball about these sort of topics. My cousins can role play about Pokemon and unicorns and I can feel good about knowing they are in a good environment that does not promote explicit content.

Anything that's not actual sex/touching is a-okay.


We just don't allow people to, ahem, 'do the dirty'.


That means that kissing is okay, cuddling is fine, but touching genitals (or describing them) is not allowed. Implied sex, innuendo, or the like is allowed, as long as it's not explicit.

I was one of those pesky underage kids that used to wander in parts of sites I wasn't allowed in. Hopefully I'm not alone here, but back then seeing the words "18+ only" meant to me that I would be getting in on some sort of secret that only adults knew about. I made a facebook when i was 8 years old, what kinda eight year old needs a Facebook? 


Anyways, I'm really grateful that these rules are so strickly enforced. I wouldn't want one of my act-alikes to use this site for something like that and get hurt.


Technically I'm still a minor since I'm 16, but of course I don't even go near erotic content anymore because meh. I'm glad the site prevents it, it makes it all the more enjoyable when everybody isn't like,

50 shades of Grey while a terribly written smut, is protected as a written piece of work (though minors aren't allowed to buy it). I haven't finished it because most straight smut is not my cup of tea but if I recall, it does include rape and such and making it okay with the idea of "contracts" which is also illegal in the real world lol. Again real protected smut can have rape, incest, minors and all sorts of terrible stuff no matter how poor in taste.

50 Shades is, somehow, actual published material; that's protected. This site is not a publication. I'd suggest re-reading the above for clarification.
