Project Purity (DrTrollinski & Greg2344)

Jax woke up in his home ( a random shack in the wasteland, made from tin, metals, and any other scrap he could find) put on all his gear and his gasmask, and loaded his single fire rifle, and tucked his small machete into his holster. He stepped outside, and saw in the distance, a caravan. He decided to walk over to it because he needed some food, and had the caps for it. The caravan was about 400 feet away from his home, and it consisted of one pack Brahmin, two guards wearing leather armor, carrying Chinese assault rifles, and a man in the suit. Clearly the suited man was the caravan leader, so Jax walked up to him and introduced himself. The suited man was quite old, he had a long handle bar mustache and was wearing a fancy looking hat. Jax asked him if he had any food or water and the man said yes. So then Jax made a trade ( 2 pounds of Brahmin meat and 3 dirty water bottles, for 60 caps) Jax was satisfied with the deal.

As Jax was walking away he heard strange noises, that sounded like huge foot steps. When Jax turned around two huge men wearing strange metal armor and crazy helmets with spikes on them, walked up to the caravan. Jax knew it was going to get ugly. He didn't really care about others but when he saw the horror In the suited mans eyes, when the two raiders took out his body guards quickly, he knew he had to help. Jax started to dash over to a wall to take cover and line up a shot on the raiders. Before Jax could even make it to the wall, one of the raiders pulled out a sledge hammer and smashed the poor suited mans head in. The raiders started to loot the caravan, but then Jax peered out of cover and shot one of the raiders killing him, but then his gun jammed! He knew he Had to unjam it quick or he would be dead meat. The last raider saw this as an opportunity for fun. So rather then just shooting Jax and killing him on sight, the raider charged him with his sledge hammer. Jax reacted quickly and dropped his gun and took out his machete. The raider swung first, missing jack. Since the raiders sledge hammer was heavy he took time to recover from his missed swing. Jax then sliced the raiders chest with his machete. The raiders chest plate was made from fine metals, so Jax's machete didn't cut flesh. When the raider recuperated he swung again at Jax. This time Jax blocked it, then kneed the raider in the stomach. After the blow to the raiders stomach the raider bent over coughing. So Jax took the opportunity and threw the raiders weapon away. The raider started backing up, horrified at realizing what just happend. Jax had no mercy for raiders. Jax sliced the raiders face, then Stabbed him in the stomach (where his chestplate wasn't covering).

Jax then started to loot the raiders and caravan. While looting Jax found ammo for his rifle, food, water, some bandages, and a few stimpacks. While searching the suited man he found a note that read "any wastelanders out there willing to help with project purity come to rivit city. If you succeed in this job we will pay 10,000 caps" when Jax saw that he almost jumped out of his boots in surprise! That could not be true that many caps for one job! Jax re read the note and it truly was 10,000 caps. Jax knew he had to do this job. After Jax finally unjammed his rifle, he started to travel to rivit city.

He ran. He ran faster than his little legs could carry him – he had his baby brother in his arms who somehow hadn’t woken up just yet. He had tears streaming down his face. Why did it have to end so brutally for his family? Things may not have been perfect, but it was better than this – he only had some low-quality shoes on that were more comparable to slippers more than shoes. He could feel them wearing away as his feet bounced off of the hard and cracked ground – a bit of scrap metal occasionally stuck into his feet, but he didn’t care. He needed to keep running. He could still hear gunshots in the distance behind him, and he knew that if he tried to go back, he’d be dead.

Just like everyone else.

It was two hours into his journey that he needed to stop. He needed to use the bathroom. Badly. His bladder had already released on the journey, but this time he knew he couldn’t let it all out. There wasn’t a chance that he could walk for hours on end in his own feces, but he couldn’t put the baby down, because he was screaming as well. He went behind a burnt out car and tried going with the baby in his arms. There was too much of an imbalance in weight, and he couldn’t squat without falling over. It was graphic, but with a sob he pulled his pants back up and hoped he could last until he got into town.

‘Just follow that road down.’

That’s what the doctor told him. That was in the late morning, and now it was getting into the afternoon. He needed to keep going. He still kept running, even when he couldn’t even hold it any more. He just stopped and stood still while he went – it was upsetting, but he had to. He tried to stop after twenty minutes to use the toilet paper the doctor had given him to clean himself up, but it seemed so pointless. He was in too much of a mess already and didn’t have a change of clothes. He stopped to change the baby, of course, and he managed to get him clean enough. He also washed the baby in the water that he was supposed to drink, and also gave the baby some of the water. They had half a bottle left for another two days of walking.

**

Two days later. Walkersville. He’d finally made it, but in bad shape. The Brahmin milk that he drank caused frequented urination (It did with everyone), so that left him in more of a mess. When he finally saw the town that had been almost untouched by the fallout, his eyes wanted to water, but he was so dehydrated that tears didn’t flow. As soon as he walked through the gates, he got a dozen pairs of eyes staring at him.

His feet were bleeding heavily. They were cut to pieces from all the stone and metal fragments that had stuck into them, but he was ignoring that. Soon enough he was circled by everyone.

“Look! A kid’s walked through the gate!”

“Holy shit! What’s happened to him?!”

“He might be irradiated!”

“He’s got a baby with him? What happened to this kid?!”

So many voices. He bowed his head and started crying, but the rumors of what may have been wrong with him carried on – but then he heard a voice of a hero, a voice of the man he was eventually going to call ‘dad’.

“All of you! Back away, right now! Have some decency! Get back to what you were doing immediately!” A man in a lab jacket screamed as he shoved through the crowd. He was perhaps in his forties – he had short dark brown hair and even looked a little bit like Liam Neeson, come to think of it. This doctor’s name was Paul Griggs. Paul ducked down in front of him and looked him up and down – he was a sobbing mess. He needed cleaning up, so that was priority. “.. Hello, son… My name’s Paul, and I’m a doctor here… I think you should come back to my house so that you can clean up, and then we’ll do some tests to make sure you’re okay, alright?” He said as he held out a hand to him. Walker slowly looked up and hesitantly took his hand. At least this man wasn’t shouting at him. He followed him up to the house, leaving a trail of bloody footprints right behind him. His shoes were gone. They’d worn away on the road.

The house was one of the biggest on the street. It was easily three or four bedrooms, but when they got inside he saw that there was no one else here. This doctor lived alone. He lead Walker through to the kitchen and then pointed at one door – he took the baby, but walker had clung to him like there was no tomorrow. He almost had to pry him out of his arms – the baby was asleep, but it didn’t look healthy.

“Is this your brother?”

Walker nodded.

“Okay, son… The bathroom’s right there,” He pointed at a door that was just beside the kitchen. “.. Go inside and clean yourself up, okay? There’s toilet paper and a working toilet, so take your time… I’m going to do some checks on your brother, so call me if you need anything, alright?” He said, Walker sobbed weakly and nodded as he turned to walk into the bathroom. It was a little half-bathroom with a toilet and sink at the back. It was only when he was in there that he realized he needed to go again – the side-effects of dehydration had caught up with him, and one of those was diarrhea. He went and took off his pants and underwear. They were ruined. He put them aside and the hopped up onto the toilet – it was way too big for him, but what did he care? He needed this.

Once he was done, he felt even worse. Blood was dripping from his feet and forming a puddle at the base of the toilet. It was a terrible scene, and he was doing a terrible job at cleaning himself up. He’d gotten it all over his arms in the process. Fifteen minutes later and there was a slow knock.

“Son, you okay?” Paul asked as he creaked the door open and peered inside. He saw how much of a mess he was, and then he saw that there were bloody footprints right through the house and leading up to the toilet. And then there was the pool of blood. He didn’t even hesitate on going in and helping him. He was going to take these boys in as his own – they deserved at least that.

Eight Years Later

“I told you that you shouldn’t have drunk all that Brahmin milk.” Walker chuckled. He and his brother Daniel were in the bathroom of the recreation center. It’s where a lot of kids hung out. He was watching Daniel use one of the urinals. That was the third time in the past hour.

“.. I know--..”

“Hurry up. You’ve got the fight soon, remember? Just think, you come out of this on top, and as per usual, you’ll be better off with more allowance money.” He laughed. Daniel zipped up his pants and went to wash his hands with a sigh.

“You know dad doesn’t like it when we fight…”

“I know. He doesn’t have to know, though. Just don’t get hit, and he won’t know.” He smirked. Daniel sighed and then dried off his hands on his shirt – he walked towards the door and pushed it open. Eight years old and fighting – he was a good kid, but everyone had their troubles here and there. Kids their age couldn’t fight properly, but Daniel could. Sort of. Off they went to the pit. This was going to be fun.

Jax pulled out his map and saw that he was somewhere in between "little lamplight" and " arefu" (he knew he was in between them because he is right next to his shack and he knows where that is) and he had to get all the way to rivit city, just to start the job! So he decided to start traveling now. It was 4pm and would be dark by 8pm so decided to start heading to big town for a rest, because big town is only a bit south west from here. While walking he started to get thirsty because of the fight he had with the raiders. So he sat down in the middle of the desert And pulled off his mask took a swig of his water bottle, then got back up and put on his gasmask again, And continued walking.

It's 5PM now and he can see bigtown In the distance. It's about 2 miles away. While walking there he found a man laying face Down, breathing heavily. Jax flipped over the man and saw that he was shot in the chest. Jax bandaged his wounds and gave the man some water. The man said his name was dom. Jax helped dom to his feet and asked him where he was heading. Dom wanted to go to megaton. Jax has never been to megaton but heard stories of it, like how there is a big undetonated nuke In the town center. So Jax and Dom decided to travel to bigtown together, rest for the night, then part ways. Dom also needs a doctor and bigtown should have a doctor.

When Jax and Dom arrived at bigtown they rushed into the doctor to fix up dom better then he had. After the doctor fixed dom up, Jax said "what happened to you?" Dom replied "I was attacked by raiders, they shot me, stole my stuff and left me to die". So after they talked for a bit they both rented a room at one of bigtowns houses, and went to sleep. When Jax woke up it was 8Am and Dom was gone already. Dom left a note that simply read "thanks" and had 10 caps next to it. All Jax could think about was how odd that was. Why would Dom just leave like that without saying anything? after Jax stopped thinking about it he went to the town marketplace and bought a can of beans and a nuka cola for 13 caps. He sat In the little area with benches and tables and ate his beans and drank his nuka cola. Suddenly a thought popped into his head. What if other wastelanders get to rivit city for project purity before him. So he decided he better not waste time in this town and start traveling again.

Over Before You Know It

".. I don't know about this, Walker... You know dad will be mad." He said, Walker sighed and just shoved him into the pit. Daniel had to balance himself midair to make sure he landed alright, but then he looked up at Walker with a face of desperation. He didn't want to be in there, and Walker knew it - for a moment he felt bad, but he knew this was something that could benefit them both.

"Just do it. It'll be over before you know it, bro." He smiled down at him and then backed up a little bit. Daniel gulped and slowly turned around to face the other side of the pit - it was literally just a hole dug in the ground round the back of a building, but it was what they used for sport around here. Walker knew one thing - if their dad showed up while this was going on, they were both in for a lot of trouble.

Daniel looked at the other boy that hopped down into the pit with him. He was Afro-American, thin, and looked malnourished as well - they were both scared. Walker could tell that much. Daniel took a deep breath and slowly raised his clenched fists up to his chest - he'd taught Daniel to fight smart. To think about what the opponent was doing and how he was going to act - the kid was only young, but he'd seen Walker in plenty of fights before. He'd seen how to move and how to punch, and the first time he ever fought someone, he won by luck - the kid fell stumbled right into his punch and went down in one. This time it wasn't going to be so simple.

Walker winced as the other boy ran at Daniel and slammed him into the side of the pit. Daniel let out a breathless cry as it happened, but in that moment in time he quickly sent a punch at the boy's face. He struck his nose, and blood instantly started gushing. That freaked him out, but he needed to make sure this ended quickly.

Then he got hit.

He got one punch straight in the mouth and went down like a rock. He could feel the tingling sensation as crimson blood dripped from his upper lip and into the dirt. And, like most young kids who go to the fights, he started crying.

"Come on, Dan! Get up!" Walker yelled. Daniel sobbed a little more but then felt the aspiration to win come over him. He jumped up and drank down some of the blood that was seeping into his mouth - it tasted horrible, but he needed to do at least something. He ran up and went into a flurry of punches - they were flimsy and quick, but it got the job done. Soon enough the kid was blocking every hit - Walker shook his head, "Take him down!" He said, Daniel listened to him and grabbed his body, his face against his bare stomach. There was a long smudge of blood that went across it from his lip, but that didn't stop him. He swept him up off the ground and took him into the dirt - he went down with a loud thud and cough, and then Daniel sat on top of him and started punching, over and over and over again until the kid tapped out. Walker jumped in and pulled Daniel away. "Stop, man! Stop!" He yelled, Daniel just broke out into tears as Walker helped him out. It wasn't fair for him to do that to him, but he wanted some extra caps after Daniel spent their weekly allowance on Brahmin milk.

".. I don't wanna' fight..." He sobbed. Walker patted him on the back as he was handed a small bag of twenty caps.

"You don't have to. You did well. Let's go get that lip fixed up, okay?" He put on the best smile he could and then walked him off towards the house. Growing up with a doctor as a father resulted in a lot of training - both he and Daniel were medically enhanced for their age. They were always prepared, but their father was home, so Walker was in for a lot of shouting and a long talk. When they got in, there was a letter on the floor that was labelled 'Project Purity' - He'd check that out later.

Now that Jax was finished in bigtown he was off into the harsh dry wasteland again. His next rest stop would be at Megaton. It's about 9pm now and he should reach megaton by 8pm maybe. While walking this way towards megaton he noticed the area was oddly dead, although the wasteland is always dead, you usually see a few wastelanders, bloat flies, and mole rats. It was also quiet, the only thing Jax could hear was the sand blowing about In the wind.

While walking Jax heard a commotion ahead so he hid behind an old bus and peeked out in front of it. He saw 5 raiders just walking around, patrolling maybe? So he decided to sneak past them. While crouching past the 5 raiders he snuck into an old house inside the house he saw horrible things. Bags of gore, dead bodies, torture tools. All just covered in blood everywhere. He could tell the raiders weren't just killing these people to survive. They were doing it for fun! While exploring the house he knocked one of the knives just laying on the table to the ground. He heard a voice from the basement yell " Ronny go check that out" then he heard foot steps coming from up the basement. He hid behind the door and pulled out his machete. He knew he had to go into that basement to see what they're doing down there. When the readier came up the steps, Jax quickly dispatched of him by silently slicing his throat. He looked down the steps and saw that there was one more raider, standing over a table. The basement smelled putrid even worse then the rest of the house, Jax almost threw up form the stench. Jax snuck Down The steps, then stabbed the raider in the back, killing him. Then when he looked into the table, it was Dom on the table. Dead. Ripped apart. Tortured. Jax felt bad, even more so he felt angry at dom, for leaving without saying anything. They could have traveled together to megaton, maybe even joined him on project purity.

All Jax knew was he had to get out fast, or he himself would suffer the same way dom did. Jax panicked for the first time in a long time. After he saw dom he just charged out of the house, out the back door. The 5 raiders out front must have heard him? That they did. Before he could even Fully get out of the back door the 5 raiders and their machine guns fired a storm of bullets at him. Jax just ran straight like a maniac, somehow all the bullets missed him. Jax keep running for about a mile until he was sure he lost the raiders. He was so exhausted after all that running, he just needed to rest somewhere. Anywhere.

Jax pushed on though. He can't rest until megaton, he kept telling himself. He could see the "Welcome to vault 101 sign" he just ignored it, and was happy because that meant that Megaton was close. He saw an old building, the sign was all torn apart and read " spring vale elementary" he saw the outside of it. The same as the house he was at earlier. Covered in blood, bags filled with guts, and dead bodies hanging from chains. He was smart enough to realize this time, that raiders are defiantly in there. So he just snuck on past it. He arrived out front of megaton, the only reason he could tell is because of a strange looking robot, a securitron, was standing out front and said "WELCOME TO MEGATON". The city walls were massive and made from tons of different materials, even pieces of old destroyed airplanes. The gates of megaton opened and a peculiar sheriff was there to greet him. The sheriff was a black man, had a beard, a duster, and a cowboy hat. The sherif kindly exclaimed " Welcome new comer, I'm Lucas Simms, the town mayor and sheriff! What brings you here?" Jax replied " thanks for the warm welcome sir, I'm just here for a nights rest, some food, and trading of materials." Lucas Simms replied " Then you found the right place!, just don't go around causing trouble, you hear?" Jax replied "yes sir."

Just Like That

Daniel was sat on the desk while Walker patched him up as best he could. He had the basic medical equipment at his side, like stuff to clean the wound sterilization and cotton buds. There were stimpaks, but he didn't need that. It was just a cut.

".. Does it need stitching?" Daniel sniffled.

"No, of course not. It's just a cut." He chuckled as he cleaned it. ".. Give it a few hours and the swelling will go down. A couple of days, and it'll be healing nicely. I promise." He smiled. Daniel looked at him and gave a saddened smile - he remembered this office well. When he was younger he used to run in here and watch his father work or sit in on a lessons he was giving Walker. Speak of the devil, their father busted in and stared at them both - Walker knew he was in trouble. He couldn't lie to him. It just didn't work.

".. What happened?" He asked as he walked over and inspected the boy's lip.

"A door hit him on the way out of the recreation center. Brought him back here to fix him up." He lied, for once, it looked like Paul believed him. ".. Can you check over it, dad? I've cleaned it and it doesn't look like it needs stitches, but I'm not sure." He said, Paul nodded - Walker wandered out of the room and over to the door where the letter was. He picked it up and opened it - this is what he saw:

DEAR WASTELANDER.

PROJECT PURITY IS BEING PUT INTO ACTION AND NEEDS YOUR HELP! THOSE WHO HELP PROJECT PURITY BECOME A SUCCESS WILL BE GIVEN A REWARD OF TEN THOUSAND CAPS - REPORT TO RIVET CITY TO BEGIN YOUR WORK. ALL ARE WELCOME - NO BASE SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE IS REQUIRED BUT IS EMBRACED.

WE ARE HIGHLY INTERESTED IN THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF PEOPLE - THOSE WHO ARE/WHO HAVE:

He looked at it. Fascinating. He ran off to show his father and volunteered to go on it - Daniel wanted to go with him. Of course Paul was reluctant, but Walker had a golden tongue - he talked him into staying here because 'He and Daniel were younger and therefore safer out there' - it was only early, but Paul wanted them to go during the day if it meant anything. He still sat Walker down for a talk, though. Daniel was away packing his bag for the adventure.

".. Walker, when I first took you and your little brother in, I had something special happen to me, you know that?" He smiled. Walker nodded and smiled back.

"You've told me, yeah..."

".. When you came here, I--.. You had only a few things in your backpack. This was one of them..." He pulled out the Colt Python and put it on his lap. ".. You told me that this was your father's. Before all this." He smiled. Walker took it and looked at it for a moment, but then looked up at Paul and sighed.

"You're my father. You have been for the past eight years."

Paul gave a broken smile and then hugged him. ".. Ever since the day you walked through my door, you were my boys, both of you. Look after each other, son... I know you'll take care of him. Just like you took care of me." He rubbed his back - Walker hugged him back and rubbed his back.

"I will, dad. Don't worry." He said. Paul pointed them in the direction of Megaton. Walker didn't know that he had to go back through the town where he was born.

Now that Jax was in megaton, the first town he ever felt truly safe in, because of the huge walls, that gate, and the guards. He pulled down his hood and took off his gasmask. The first place that stuck out to him was craterside supply, the town of megaton is quite big. It's two levels high and filled with homes, shops, and bars. Craterside supply stuck out the most because on top of it was the cockpit of an airplane and it said "craterside supply" on it. But he decided to head to the bar first to get some food and a drink, because it's about 7pm and he hasn't eaten all day.

Jax walked into a bar called "moriaritys saloon" the cash register was being worked by a ghoul. Jax has seen his fair share of ghouls, feral and not, so it didn't freak him out seeing one. Jax sat down at the bar and the ghoul said " hello I'm Gob what can I get ya?" He said it in a really friendly way. Jax replied, "purified water and a Brahmin steak please". Gob gave him the water and steak and said " thanks for shopping here, friend! That will be 30 caps." Jax handed him the caps and replied " thank you ". For the next hour or two Jax sat there In the bar just talking to locals and eating his steak and drinking his purified water, and had a beer or two. Now it was about 8:54 Pm and Jax was tired. At the bar they had rooms to rent. He bought a room for the night for 30 caps. When he went into the room and sat on the bed, it was the first time in a while that he felt relaxed, safe, and not worried. So he lay in bed just thinking about project purity and the raiders he fought on this adventure so far. He fell asleep on the soft bed after about 10 minutes because he was so tired from his fights with the raiders, and just simply traveling across the huge dry desert all day.

When he woke up the next morning at 9am he went out into the city center and headed up to craterside supply. When he went inside the store. There was a red Haired women who was wearing a blue jumpsuit that read "Robco" Jax had heard of robco before, they were the pre war business that made all the protectitrons and mr gustys. He has even looted, the Robco factory before. The women at the register was very peculiar and kind, she said " Welcome to craterside supply! I have not seen you around this town yet, are you new?" Jax replied " yes I just got into town last night I'm just traveling through." Then she said "that's nice! So what do you need friend?" Jax got his weapons cleaned, his gasmask lenses cleaned, and got some food rations to last a few days. He was running a bit low in caps now. After all the spending he did In the last few days he only has about 23 caps left. But nonetheless he was satisfied with all his purchases.

After craterside supply he was saddened to realize that it was time to leave megaton, to get to rivet city, to make the 10,000 caps he wants oh so badly. He did not want to leave megaton because it was such a nice little homely town. The residents were kind and didn't mind that he was new. Now it is time to leave megaton though and continue his adventure to rivet City. He walked out of the gate of megaton, put his gasmask back on, put his hood back up, and made sure his rifle was loaded. He was ready to walk the wastes once again, to continue his quest to "Project Purity".

A Place Only I Know

He saw the burnt out old car and it all came back to him. The day he walked with Daniel in his arms and tried to poop behind here, but couldn't manage it. Oh, the great memories. He knew they were close now, close to the place they were born. They weren't far from where he peed himself, either. He prayed that Daniel would never have to go through something like that - he'd do everything he could to make sure that didn't happen.

"So... How long are we gonna' be gone?" Daniel asked. Walker shrugged.

"I don't know... Hopefully no more than a month or two... We can write to dad, though. We'll just have to hire a courier to deliver it." He smiled and patted him on the shoulder. This was going to be a long journey, but it'd be worth it.

"How much money do we have?"

"One-twenty caps. Four rolls of toilet paper, four bottles of water, four cans of food, and I'm the one who has the gun. We're fine." He smiled at him. Daniel walked close to him and looked around - he stared at a small town that was in the distance and saw the look on Walker's face.

".. What's wrong? What is that place?"

".. A place only I know." He said in a weak tone as they slowly ventured towards it. It was painful to pass through there, they had to do it to get to Megaton.

Within two days, Megaton was finally in sight. They were just coming over one of the hills to get there. Finally, at long last.

As Jax exited Megaton he saw two young boys, all alone approaching. He figured they can't be any older then 13, why are they all alone out here? So Jax pulled his hood down, and took off his gasmask, then walked over to them and asked, who are you two, why are you all alone, and where are you headed?

(Put dialogue in quotation masks)

Walker looked him up and down and frowned as he reached to his side to discreetly rest his hand on his gun. He used his free hand to usher Daniel - a boy no older than eight or nine - behind him. ".. We're heading to Rivet City. Dad told us that this was the first place we needed to go... Why?" He asked.

Jax could see that the boy was very nervous, so He said "Hello I'm Jax" and put his hand out forward for a handshake. Jax then said "I was asking why you are out here, because many men, some even stronger and smarter then me, die in the wasteland every day, it's no place for children.". He also said " to get to rivet city you have to go through DC, and DC is full of raiders, ghouls, and .... Super mutants". Jax then said "I am also going to rivet city, we can travel there together if you'd like?" " you don't even have to tell me why you're going if you don't want to." He added. "Your lucky you met me, there are many bad men out here, don't trust anyone." He also added.

Daniel looked at Walker, and then up at Jax, and then back to Walker again. Walker took a deep breath. ".. We might be children, but that doesn't mean we can't handle ourselves." Walker said in defense. He kept one hand rested on the grip of his gun while he reached forward with his free hand and casually shook Jax's. He didn't like this guy so far, but he was thankful that he hadn't been shot just yet. ".. I'm Walker. This is my little brother - Daniel." He said as he patted the younger boy on the head. ".. You're travelling to Rivet City as well?" He pulled his hand away. ".. We got a letter through our door, something about Project Purity... Said they were taking on anyone - Our dad's a doctor, but he's too old to start walking the wasteland, so we figured that we'd come out here instead." He shrugged a little and then hoisted the backpack further up onto his back. (@Greg2344)

Jax could see that Daniel and walker both got offended when he called them children. "Sorry, didn't mean to offend you." He immediately replied. "That's strange I also found a letter about project purity, but I found it off of a raider who was attacking a caravan." He said. "So what will it be? Are we going to travel together?" He said. "We can go into megaton and get any supplies that you need." He added.

".. Yeah... We need to make some stops in Megaton. I need to buy my brother a gun." Walker said with a sure nod. "We'll head inside together and then we'll make a move. We're both trained in medicine, so... Yeah, we should be alright." He said, forcing a gentle smile. They went into the town for a while and got everything they needed - Walker got some steel-plated leather armor that was actually quite lightweight, and Daniel just got leather armor without the steel. He got Daniel a rifle and a 9mm pistol, and then also bought himself a rifle as well - they had ten bullets with each one, but that'd be enough for now. That was their whole 120 caps gone, though.

Once they were back outside the city, Walker slung his scoped rifle over his shoulder, as did Daniel, and then looked at Jax and clasped his hands together. ".. Okay. Lead the way." He said. (@Greg2344)

Jax put his hood up and gasmask back on and said " ok we are heading to the Marigold station first. So We go in the station, walk through it to Falls Church, exit through there. Then walk to the Arlington library. the only problem is how do we get across the river? It's all irradiated so we can't swim safely, and all the bridges are destroyed. But a few years ago, the kind folks at rivit city built a new small bridge made of old metals to the Jefferson memorial and from the Jefferson memorial to rivit city. But now the only problem is that the Jefferson memorial is guarded by super mutants."

".. Then we'll get the drop on them, won't we?" Walker grinned. ".. I ran for two days solid through the wasteland when I was six years old, sir. I was in a mess, but I survived. If a six-year-old can survive it, I'm sure as shit that we can." He said as he started walking with him. ".. I'll use my rifle. I've got a scope. We'll pick the mutants off one by one - hit 'em in the head and we won't have a problem." He shrugged. (@Greg2344)

" yeah I like that plan, it's smart, we shouldn't be in trouble as long as the super mutants don't see us." said Jax pleasantly surprised that walker had a good plan and was confident about it. "Ok let's start to travel now." Said Jax. Jax also said " that story about when you were six is crazy, Im Surprised you survived it!"

They walked across the desert for about an hour when they arrived at the DC. There were huge destroyed skyscraper buildings and old disabled cars In the street. The entrance to the metro dark, they went in one by one. None of them had flashlights so it was quite hard to see. As they walked through the metro, they didn't see much light. Around the corner there was a door and In the door there was a lit fire. Jax said " everyone be calm, it may be a raider in there, they hangout in the metros a lot, for a place to sleep."

".. A lot of raiders tend to shoot up towns and kill innocent families, but metros are new to me." He said. He didn't smile or laugh - he was sincere. It was said in anger, and there was hatred behind his voice. It became evident to Jax right there and then that Walker had been through something traumatic in his life. Perhaps it linked with the story of when he was six years old?

Regardless, Walker made sure Daniel held back but stuck close, and then he pulled out his Colt Python Revolver and held it so it was pointing upwards - that way he could quickly bring it down if he needed to shoot at anything. He'd only shot at moving things once or twice when he went out onto the wasteland just outside the town with the others - they took him to shoot at scorpions or mole rats, and that way he'd learned to shoot at moving targets if need be. Daniel also pulled out his 9mm pistol - he'd had training with firearms, but not to the same extent as Walker. The two boys slowly advanced forward with Jax, their eyes quickly scanning around the metro. It was dark. Too dark, but that way, they had even littler chance of being spotted themselves.

(If you plan for bandits to be there, don't kill them all in one entry. When it comes to conflict with NPC's, we'll take turns and make sure we both get a slice of the action :) )

Jax slowly opened the door that the fire was behind and he saw five raiders sitting around the camp fire. Jax said " ok in three, we get them by surprise, ok? You both take out the three to the left and I'll get the two on the right side." Jax pulled out his rifle and said, " one....two......THREE!" Then he kicked the door open and shot the raider to the left once in the head, killing him, then he shot the other one on the left side in the chest, gravely injuring him.

Walker ran in willingly and Daniel did his best to follow right behind him. As soon as Walker saw one gun turning towards them, he quickly raised the Python up and shot the man in the center of the chest - Daniel got the one that was on the left of that guy, but as soon as he saw the blood he went into a state of shock and was frozen on the spot. That wasn't something he wanted to do - Walker saw how upset Daniel looked, but in the second he took to observe him, one of the raiders ran at him with an M9 Bayonet. He turned too late to see him and panic-fired, hitting him in the stomach - they went into a clench war for a moment as they both fell to the ground. Walker was sitting on the chest of the bandit and was now trying to drive the knife towards his throat - the bandit was bleeding out, but that didn't matter right now. He was still strong.

When the knife wasn't going anywhere, Walker struck him in the head with the side of his gun. When he did that, the knife was pulled off to the side, but when the raider was stunned he grabbed the knife again and quickly drove it into his throat. Blood went everywhere, but he kept stabbing him. Over and over again - he had a look of fury in his eyes. A look of hatred. And a look of sadness. He couldn't stop himself. He just kept stabbing this raider, over and over again.

Jax was shocked and even a little frightened when he saw what walker was doing. Jax pulled walker off the dead raider and said "are you ok, walker?" That made Jax further realize that something traumatic had to have happend to walker when he was six. He understood now, he saw the rage in walkers eyes while stabing the raider. Raiders must have been the ones who killed his , mother maybe? He only heard walker speak of his father, and not his mother. Jax said " hey wait outside of this room and stay right there, ok? I'm just going to search the room for supplies and ammo." Jax wasn't only going to search for supplies, he was going to finish off the raider he shot in the chest and wounded. He didn't want walker or Daniel to see anymore deaths, because he realized that this was their fist time killing, and how it affected them. So when the two boys stepped outside the room, Jax pulled out his machete and sliced the last surviving injured raider's throat, killing him. Then Jax searched the room and found ammo for the two boys and himself, stimpacks, and a fridge filled with strange meat. He decided not to take the meat because he dosnt know what it is. He exited the room and gave the two boys some more ammo.

Walker wasn't saying anything. It was nice to have sweet revenge. He didn't know if these were the men that killed his family, but it was nice to take anger out on the scum that were just like them. They weren't going to be destroying any more lives.

Daniel was upset. Very upset. He was shaking like a leaf and almost dropped the ammo after he took it from Jax. He had tears running down his cheeks when he looked up at the older man who'd helped them butcher the raiders. With a shaky sigh and a sob he asked him something.

"Can--.. Can we stop and--.. and sit down?" He asked with a sniffle as he quickly wiped his eyes. Walker still said nothing. His face and armor were splattered with the blood of the raider. He brought the knife with him. That was going to be his new way to finish of fuckers like that one.

Jax saw Daniel crying and walked over to him, then Daniel asked if they could stop and sit down. Jax replied "sure" Daniel was so traumatized, and Jax couldn't think of anything to say, because he never had his own kids or really ever been around kids. So Jax just sat next to Daniel and put his arm around him. Walker still wasn't talking, he was just standing there, thinking about, the raiders? His family? Project purity? Jax didn't know. All he knew is walker was deep in thought. Jax said to walker " why don't you sit down with me and Daniel?"

Daniel would have usually had his father to hug him and tell him it was alright, but in replacement he had Jax. He hugged him as tightly as he could and buried his face in his chest, sobbing quietly for a few minutes.

".. No." Walker muttered softly, staring off down the metro. ".. I'll keep watch." He added quietly as he took out some toilet paper from his bag and wiped the blood away from the blade he'd used to kill the raider. A few minutes later, Daniel sat up and wiped his eyes and took a deep breath. He looked at Walker, and then at Jax.

".. Thanks..." He whispered to him. ".. I'm okay now. We can keep moving." He said, giving a half-smile.
