Project Purity (DrTrollinski & Greg2344)

".. Not yet it doesn't." He said, "Follow me." He added, he walked off to one of the buildings that was just down from the wall and pushed in through the door. "Daniel, check rooms as we go by." He instructed, Daniel nodded and checked each that they went by, but then Walker lead them both upstairs as he cocked his rifle and went to one of the windows. ".. After I take this next shot, go to the room across the hall, and we'll do a rotation, one shot after the other." He said as he looked down the scope at one more of the mutants. He fired, and hit him between the eyes and dropped him to the ground - the mutants started running around now, so the shots were going to be much harder to hit.

Daniel went with Jax to the other room to cover him.

"There are three mutants left!" Said Jax relieved. Jax ran to the room walker told him to, then raised his rife. The super mutants were panicked, running around and shooting at the wall the group was previously at. Then the mutant with the nail board made a mad dash across the bridge into the building Jax and the two boys were in. Jax tried to shoot him while it was running but missed. Jax then said to walker and Daniel "I'm going to search the building for him, you two stay up here and pick off the rest." Jax pulled out his machete and walked down the steps slowly. He could hear the mutants footsteps, then all of a sudden they stopped. Jax kept walking then he walked through the door where he last heard the mutant. Then BAM Jax was on the ground, and the mutant was stood above him with his nail board raised. Jax sliced the mutants leg, then rolled away. While the mutant was yelling because of its leg injury, Jax charged it with his machete pointed forward. He crashed into the beast and his machete stabbed deep in its chest, now Jax was on top of the Mutant, who was on the ground injured. Jax was on top of it and stabbed and sliced it, until he was sure it was dead.

Daniel took his spot at the window and aimed at the one of the mutants that was left. It was a tricky shot as he didn't have a scope, but his bullet went into the chest of the mutant he was aimed at and went straight to the heart. It was a chance shot, but hitting the shot in general was difficult enough as it was. Walker saw it and aimed at the last one.

"Nice shot, Jax!" He called out.

"That was me, Walker!" Daniel called back. Walker was shocked. That was a pretty decent shot - he was about to shoot the very last mutant, but then he saw it get shot in the shoulder. It went down with a scream - that was Daniel again. While it was on the floor, Walker fired one last shot into its chest to finish it off, and then he lowered his gun to aim it at the ground and laughed.

"WOO!" He cheered loudly as he jumped back away from the window. "Jax! Talk to me! You alright?" He called out.

"Yeah" Jax yelled out of breath. He sat for a few moments, then when he regained his energy he walked up the steps and said "did we get them all?" And he was happy with walkers answer. Now that they cleared Jefferson memorial they crossed the bridge and now they were there. The huge boat that is rivit city was there. They finally made it. Jax hugged Daniel and walker out of joy that they actually all survived the journey and made it. "This is only the beginning boys, we still have to actually do project purity to get the caps". Said Jax they walked up the steps to rivit city and there was an intercom, Jax spoke into it and Said " me and two others are here for project purity" there was no response. But then after a few moments a huge draw bridge extended to the entrance to rivit city.

(It's Rivet, not Rivit. Just saying :P )

"Welcome to Rivet City. Proceed to the lab on the ground level." A voice responded eventually. They had riflemen watching them as they walked in, so they wouldn't have wanted to cause any trouble. When they finally proceeded through the boat and reached the lab there, they were surprised by what they saw. This place was in mint condition - the lab was just fascinating in every way - purified water out the wazoo, and better yet, clean vegetables and fruit. Like, actual fruit and vegetables, clean, produced in the lab - It was incredible.

".. Jesus... Christ..." Walker murmured as he looked around.

When Jax entered the lab he could see in walkers eyes how amazed he was. Jax was more amazed that the city was a giant pre war boat," it's probably the last one left in the world" he thought to himself. The guards in there had top tier armor, maybe even better then brotherhoods power armor. It was some kind of lightweight power armor that they created here at rivet city. It was like power armor but less bulky and the color scheme was black and they had military grade gas masks and helmets. The weapons they had were unlike Jax had ever saw before. They had huge machine guns similar to the minigun that the super mutant had. While Jax was staring at the guards, a team of four scientist entered the lab.

The main scientist walked up to the three of them and gave a soft smile. He was middle-aged, thin, and looked clean and healthy. He looked over the three of them and then looked off at the other scientists.

"Get these three some coffee. They look like they've come a long way." He smiled. Walker and Daniel didn't even know what coffee was. Daniel looked at Walker in confusion, and Walker merely shrugged in confusion. The scientist walked them over to a nearby desk and pulled some chairs over for them. He took a seat opposite them and sighed.

"You may see that you're the only ones who came for Project Purity." He said.

Jax was shocked that no one showed up, except for him, walker, and Daniel. He thought that hundreds of wastelanders would show up for an opportunity to make 10,000 caps, but then he realized that the road to get here is a very dangerous one. The other wastelanders were probably killed by raiders, ghouls, or super mutants. Jax then said "so what exactly is project purity and when do we start?"

Some scientists came over with three hot cups of coffee and put them down in front of the three. Walker and Daniel both looked at their coffee and then picked it up and took a sip. Walker found it quite nice, but Daniel scrunched his nose up in disgust. He still drank it, though. Just to be polite.

".. Project Purity is the mission to restore clean water to the whole wasteland. This will help to fight the radiation and in general, the country will finally be able to regrow. The only problem is, we don't have the main power sources and components to make this work. That's where you come in." He said.

Jax never had coffee and doesn't even know what it is, he picked up the hot cup it was in and drank it, he found it quite refreshing, since the only thing he really drinks is nuka cola and water. Jax said "so how exactly do we restore the power and where do we restore it at?

"Jefferson Memorial is where the power needs to be restored, but the only problem is, we can't restore it yet. We need reactor cores. So far we've searched five vaults and their main generator systems, and we've found one reactor core - We need three more before we can even think about putting this into play." He explained. He looked around and sighed. ".. We've got mostly everything we need to make this effective - better yet, we've been producing fresh vegetables, and it's estimated that we should be able to start breeding non-mutated life forms. Like cows." He said.

"What's a cow?" Daniel asked. He'd never heard of one of those before, and neither had Walker, but he didn't say anything.

"All in good time." The scientist said. ".. So. Do you think you're all capable? You'll be given free residence here at Rivet City and any gear you need." He added.

Jax has heard of cows before, a few years ago while scavenging he found a pre war children's book and it was teaching the alphabet, and it said "c for cow" and showed a picture of one, it was similar to a Brahmin but it only had one head, and was white with black spots. Jax then replied "we are capable for the quest, the only supplies we are going to need is food, medical equipment, and ammunition. So deal?"

".. It's a deal." He said. "You'll get everything you need. Go to the market and say that you're buying on Frank Jackson's behalf - They'll give you everything you need."

"Wait." Walker said. ".. Our friend here's got broken ribs. Are we free to stay here for a few days so that he can rest up? We can get acquainted to this place that way." He said, the scientist eyed him for a moment and nodded.

"Take one of the larger rooms. Should have three or four camper beds in them. Won't have a private bathroom, but the public bathrooms here are in good enough shape - They can get busy, but it'll be something you'll have to get used to." He smiled, Walker looked at Jax and patted him on the shoulder.

"Let's go, Jax. You need to rest it up for a few days - We need to write to our dad, and I don't want you dying on us." He said. He and Daniel both drank down the rest of their coffee, shook Frank's hand, and then stood up.

Jax also shook franks hand. The group walked to their new bedroom and put their belongings in the lockers. Jax was just laying on the bed relaxing and he said "tomorrow morning we will go to the market place and buy the supplies that we need, then we can just relax for a few days, then get project purity started up. Sound good?" Jax was so glad he could finally have a rest in a safe place for a few days, the last place he felt safe at was megaton. His own house isn't really that safe because any day some raiders could just stumble upon it. Jax was wandering about his house "did anyone find it and steal my stuff" he thought.

"Sounds like a plan." Walker said as he ran over and jumped onto his bunk, laughing a little. ".. Daniel, think you can find your way to the market and get some painkillers for Jax?" He asked, Daniel looked at him and then hesitantly.

"Sure." He smiled; he nipped out of the room and returned fifteen minutes later with a bottle of painkillers. He gave that and a bottle of water to Jax and then went over and settled down on his bunk as well, smiling. "When are we gonna' write that letter, Walker?" He asked. Walker yawned and shrugged.

"We'll do it tomorrow." He said, then he rolled over to face the wall and closed his eyes. He was shattered and just wanted some rest.

Jax said "thanks Daniel" as he took some painkillers. Jax fell asleep easy that night, the beds were very comfortable, compared to what they have been sleeping on. Jax woke up the next morning at 8am and he went down to one of the shops and brought back canned beans and nuka colas for everyone. He woke up Daniel and walker, and gave them each a can of beans and a nuka cola. He also spent his last 20 caps on them, but didn't say anything because he didn't want them to feel bad.

The two boys were happy to have some food and good cola in them. It made them feel a little less homesick. By Daniel's bed he found a letter when he got back from the store. The first part was evidently written by Walker.

"Dear, Dad.

We've arrived in Rivet City at last. On the way here we met a guy named Jax - We've been looking after each other so far, and he seems pretty cool - Daniel's doing alright here, although he was a bit upset when we reached the halfway point. Honestly, this place is amazing. I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to tell you about, but so far it's pretty awesome. We got given this stuff called... 'coffy', or something. I'm not sure how you spell it, and they were talking about having animals like cows back, whatever they are. We've been missing you so far, and although we've only been gone for a few days, we're missing you already.

Don't come out looking for us. We'll keep writing to you no matter what, so don't worry yourself, okay? We wouldn't ever disappear.

- Love, from Walker."

--

"To, Dad.

I really wish I could come home, but the mission we're on right now is going to do great stuff for everyone, and when we come home, life will be so much cooler than it already was! I don't have much to write, but I want you to know that I miss you, and if we ever go near home, we'll bring Jax to come and meet you sometime.

Love, from Daniel."

Jax now said "let's go down to the marketplace now and buy our gear" they walked down to the marketplace and they walked over to the store called " Flak 'N Shrapnels" there were two men working there, most likely flak and shrapnel. They had a large table with guns laying all over it, and the bald man working there said "I'm Flak and the other man is shrapnel, what can we get you friend." Jax replied "we need ammo, rations, and weapon cleaning equipment." After Jax finished explaining all the stuff they need, flak said "that's going to be 300 caps, do you even have that much" Jax then said " The bill is on frank" "ok we'll trust you but if your lying frank is going to kill you" shrapnel said. "Don't worry, we aren't lying, you can ask frank yourself if you'd like" said Jax "ok, fine here is the stuff you asked for." Said shrapnel, handing over the supplies to Jax.

(Another pointer. Separate each character's dialogue between lines, like this:

Walker: [speech]

Daniel: [speech]

Walker: [speech]

Makes it all easier to read. Remember, new line for every character's dialogue. It makes things look nicer and easier to understand :) )

Walker had gone off to get the medical supplies that they were going to need and then went over to the little bar in the corner to get another Nuka Cola. He was sitting at the bar, when a girl around his age with dark brown hair came over and sat next to him. Wow. She didn't look too bad at all - He smiled at her, she smiled back as she ordered her own cola and then walked off - they locked eyes for a few moments, though. Was it happening? Did he just have a moment? He didn't know, but he was going to sit here and drink his cola for a moment and wait for the other two to get back. Daniel was with Jax and helping him get all the stuff together.

After Jax and Daniel got all the supplies together, they walked over to the bar that walker was sitting at, jax sat down next to walker and said "who was the girl you were talking to? We are going to be here for a few more days, you should get to know her, also did you write to your father? I bet he misses you both."

"Yeah, we did. And I wasn't really talking to her, I just--.. We just smiled at each other." He chuckled a little and put the bag of medical supplies down beside him. "How are you ribs? Feeling any better since last night? If anything, they'll be feeling worse. It always get worse before it gets better." He smiled.

"Thanks, I'm pretty good now because I've been taking the pain killers." Replied Jax. The day passed and the group hungout in the market place and relaxed all day. When night time came, they went up to the bedroom and Jax was listening to the radio in the room. A song called " I don't want to set the world on fire" came on. Jax quietly chuckled to himself, because he saw the irony in that pre war song. Jax wondered if there were any singers still these days. He came to the conclusion that there are not any because everyone is just surviving, trying to make money, and killing others.

Walker was lying in bed and looking up at the ceiling. Daniel was already asleep.

".. Jax... What were things like when you were a kid?" He asked as he crossed his arms behind his head, smiling a little in thought. He used one leg to scratch the other and then relaxed again.

Jax said "When I was a kid things were the same as they are now, I lived with my mom and dad in an old destroyed building in DC. My parents loved me and I loved them, but one day a pack of super mutants found us, I ran away and my parents…." His voice trailed off

"Same sort of thing for me... I took my brother to a doctor one day, he was only a baby then - when I was in the doctor's office, I heard gunshots. The gunshots were back in town, and--.." He started to have a flashback and started sweating. This was bad. ".. I heard screams, and the doctor gave me a bag of stuff - I had my father's gun with me, but I didn't know how to use it... I just had it to look threatening so no one messed with me..." He sighed. ".. I had two bottles of water, one bottle of Brahmin milk for Daniel, four diapers, and two rolls of toilet paper." He paused and took a shaky deep breath. "He pointed me in the direction of the town I live in now... I had cheap shoes on, so the metal and the glass cut through it like butter and hacked my feet up... I used the water to wash the baby when I should have drank it, and I didn't get a chance to use the bathroom myself because I didn't want to put the baby down... I had a lot of accidents on the way, but I walked for two days straight... Then my--.. My current dad saved us..." He muttered, taking another shaky sigh.
