[Private] History doomed to repeat itself

She nodded at the faunans "I understand. These are troubled times..." she mumbled under her breath as she stepped into the river, wincing as the cool water rushed across the wound of her ankle. When Sage mentioned cleaning her wounds, Kasia ears pressed flat to her head at the prospect of that. It's not that she didn't trust her, even if she was a total stranger and a faunan. Mostly, the thought of it was uncomfortable to her, she wasn't used to anyone that wasn't close to her to help her out. She didn't feel like having her clean her wounds "No...uh...it's okay I'll do it myself. Thanks anyways." she swished her tail to brush the offer away.

She stepped into the river, and repeated what she was taught before, letting the instincts of hunting that she hadn't experienced until now overtake her. She ended up catching a fish and spearing it, showing it to the others and shaking the moisture off her body as she went to the shore and dropped it there, she took her other fish and took a bite out of it.

Jori watched as she did this, "How did you know that?" he asked. Kasia chewed some more fish and looked up at him "Some people taught me" she didn't go into more information, she continued eating the fish raw, enjoying the taste more than berries.

Jori shrugged and he decided to shift into wolf form, he enjoyed eating, traveling, sleeping, and fighting in that form. He lied down beside the girl and ate in silence, gesturing for Sage to share the fish with him.

-------

Damik saw the smoke billowing into the sky. "There they are, come on" he said as they arrived to the top of the hill, where crowds of busy linguakins traversed about the camp. "I'm going to introduce you to Elder Daljooraum, he's the oldest and usually makes most of the decisions along with some other elders. Damik weaved through the crowds and they were accompanied by the chatter of the people as they talked to one another. A few of them turned their heads to see the new linguakin girl "Don't worry, they don't mean any harm or ill will, they're just curious" he said "We can usually spot a newcomer easily. He exchanged a few greetings with some passerbys as they made their way to the heart of the camp.

The center of the camp was a large, circular tent. Most of the elders stayed here, at all times of the day to discuss important matters that befall the tribe. A guard stood at the front with a bronzilver sword. Damik stepped forward "Hello Ritzkah Master, I would like to be granted entrance to seek the elders". Ritzkah glanced at the girl who stood beside him and nodded "I see, I'll go in and ask if they will allow it". He went in and moments later came back out, gesturing for them to enter.

Damik motioned for Chemi to follow and they stepped into the lantern-lit room. A wooden table sat against the walls and four elders were busy overlooking scrolls of information. Daljooraum liften his gaze, his dark brown eyes glittered from above tawny-reddish wrinkles and a sea green rugged beard he rubbed it as he watched them enter "Hello Damik, how fared your hunting venture, and I see you've found a companion?" He raised his greenish brow at the unknown guest. Damik nodded "Yes, Master Daljooraum, she showed me a skillfull tactic of fishing. We caught a fair share. This is Chemi of the Waterfront tribe".

Daljooraum nodded and cast his gaze to Chemi "Waterfront tribe huh, they aren't around, does that mean you are on your own." By now the other elders turned up their gazes to look at the visitors.

When Kasia rejected Sage, she only took a few steps back. Sage watched Kasia’s fishing skills and was rather impressed. She caught two fish in the span of no time. She must have just recently learned the skill if the fish she was bringing back was the one she got from a lucky attempt as she said earlier. She glanced at Jori when he transformed to eat, he motioned for her to join him. Sage felt absolutely sick right now. She had no idea where their clan mates where. She had no idea if they will starve without Jori and her to help hunt.

Sitting down next to Jori, Sage stayed in her human form and flashed him a small smile, “Eat your fill Jori, ill get whatever is left.” She whispered. Jori was the stronger out of the two of them and she rather him be back at full strength then her. Besides they both have been starving for the last few months with minimal food, her missing another meal shouldn’t hurt at all.

----------------------

Chemi was completely in awe. The tribe looked so similar then her own, the smells and looks. She was feeling more at home than ever, despite the fact she was completely alien in this particular tribe. When they had reached the guard, Chemi tried her best to look as none threatening as possible. He seemed to eye her much like the rest of Damik’s tribe did and then left for a few moments. Chemi thought it would be best to no long speak in less spoken two at this point. When Damik introduced her to his elder, Chemi made it a point to show him much respect.

Stepping forward, Chemi offered the one fish she had to him and the other elders. “That is correct. The whole of the Waterfront tribe has been whipped out for a few years now. The only survivors that I know of are myself…. A-…. And my brother. I have been on my own for some time now… I meet Damik by chance when he was hunting. I do pardon the intrusion into your tribe. I had a feeling you, Elder, would know of my tribes destruction. I am ashamed and heartbroken to tell people,” Chemi glanced at Damik quickly, “I am sorry for the deception. I was honestly just hoping to get a quick glance at a tribe again. There is nothing like the safety and love of your tribe in the whole world.” Chemi felt herself tear up, She thought she was done crying over her clan mates, but she was starting to feel a bit over whelmed by everything she missed.

Jori tilted his head at her, she was weak, she needed her fill. He hated that she would have him do this to her, but there was no use arguing, she was just trying to help him out after all. He took a few more bites, and he purposely left enough for her to have enough to eat. He licked his jaws and stood up, sniffing around, there were small rodents around here, it was enough to fill their appetites for a while, it wasn't enough for a whole tribe alone, but for him and Sage it was enough. He wagged his tail and padded to the edge of the tall grasses and sat down. "If we don't find our tribe yet, we'll be able to get our strength back, there are enough small animals for the two of us". Kasia finished the fish and looked at the wolf "Really? I didn't know we had any here...I mean, we don't hunt and..." she felt dumb for saying that, but her tribe had given up hunting long ago. Unlike faunans, Sapiens were capable on living on vegetation and fruits. She tucked her ears close to her head and blushed a bit, staying quiet and absentmindedly tracing her finger through the sand.

-------

Damik looked at Chemi in shock, he had no idea she was all on her own, except for her brother apparently, whoever he is. His eyes flashed a deep blue as he placed a hand on her shoulder "I'm sorry Chi...I understand..." he didn't think it was a big deal that she hadn't told him, since it made her so distraught now that the truth was out, he could handle a white lie if it meant she was okay.

Daljooraum nodded and his eyes grew into blue pools "It must be hard to lose a whole tribe, My condolences, Chemi" Another elder spoke up "Agreed, to lose a tribe and be the last living one from them is disheartening", the other two mumbled in agreement. Daljooraum stood up "Enough of this sorrowful news, your welcome to stay with us Chemi", he pulled out a carved wooden stick from under the table and hobbled over to her, staring eye to eye with her "Thank you very much for the fish, our tribe appreciates such skill." he gave a chuckle. He stares intently at her and his hand flies up to rub his beard "Normally, allowing strangers to stay here is not allowed, but I think I'll allow an exception to the rule. I trust Damik, and my judgement says we can trust you." He turns to the other elders and speaks "Do we agree?", they mumbled a little bit amongst themselves but in the end nodded in unanimity. Daljooraum clapped his hands, "Very well, we are pleased to have you Chemi, make yourself at home here." Damik showed her on her way out and his eyes returned to the soft golden glow, "That wasn't so bad, this is great, I'm glad I could help you out Chi" he gazed at her and smiled.

(Plot Idea: Let's see, they'll be safe for a little while, then I'll have the mutant tribe attack. The linguakins are in danger, Damik and Chi are captured, but they tell the tribe to run away and be safe, and to leave them behind. They are reluctant to do so but Damik is insistant. So after that they will be slaves to the mutants until they can plan an escape. Sage, Jori, and Kasia come to help them soon after)

(Chemi is afraid of Mutants and actually had a bit of grudge to them and Oracles since they whipped out her own tribe in their own war. I was going to introduce Chemi’s brother and the oracle together, the Oracle being Chemi’s brother’s prisoner. But I like that idea. :) )

When Jori got up and left to sniff around the area, Sage leaned over and started to pick at what was left of the fish. When she finally got a little food in her stomach, she realized how hungry she truly was and have been. Trying not to eat too fast she finished the fish and licked her fingers clean. Turning into her wolf form, she shook her grey coat and then walked around the camp to smell the area much like Jori did. “For the three of us.” Sage corrected Jori. “I’ll hunt for Kasia if we need to…” She said, looking off into the trees.

Sage was starting to feel an extreme obligation to Kasia. Not only was Sage the cause for the loss of Kasia’s clan, she was also responsible for the big of the two wounds on her. On top of that she took them to get food and has shown no sign of holding any kind of grudge. Sage could not turn a blind eye to such kindness. Funny how her feelings of Kasia changed in hours. Plopping on the ground Sage laid her head on her paws and took a long deep breath. She was still hungry, but then again she had not been full in a long time. The food tasted so good and her stomach was demanding more. She would not go hunt because she and Jori should not split up.

At least she was not alone; she had Jori, while Kasia had no one. “Don’t feel bad, you guys did what you have to do to survive. There is nothing wrong with that.” Sage said not looking up from the ground. He body felt exhausted and battle warn, specially bruised on her ribs.

---------------------------------------------

Chemi nodded and smiled some, her eyes started to mix into a deep blue green color. She felt incredibly happy that they were willing to bend the rules and accept her. But she was already thinking about her own clan again. Trying to get her emotions under control, Chemi breathed deeply, “I will pass down skills of the Waterfront tribe to you guys gracefully… I hope you can use my ancestor’s skills wisely and for the good of everyone.” Chemi said in the most respectful tone she could muster. “Thank you so much… you… you have no idea how much this means to me…” Chemi manage to say to the elders.

When they left Damik was glowing yellow again. Chemi’s still reflected the blue green color, but her eyes we slowly moving into a pale yellow as time goes by. “D-did he mean I can stay permanently… or just for the night?” Chemi asked, fearing the answer a bit. “where will I stay… what will I do? I have not been with a tribe for years… and I don’t know how different your tribe is from mine!”

Damik laughed a bit "Don't worry Chi, it'll all work out" she seemed to be really enthusiastic and worried at the same time, launching a million questions a minute. He looked up into the sky, it was becoming an orange color, signifying that the day was almost over, "I guess I'll get a few linguakins to help set up a tent for you, I'll show you around a bit, and you can sleep here for the night. Try not to mind the noise too much though" Naturally, tents didn't block out the noise. There were several rows of tents and there would be neighboring linguakin tents a few feet away from one another, so often in a colony such of this you could hear snoring, shuffling, or talking depending on the type of sleeper your neighbors were. It was worse if there were small children that awoke during the night. Luckily, however, Damik didn't think the noises were too bad, he didn't have too many disruptive neighbors. It didn't bother him too much either, he was used to it.

"As for staying longer, well, I'm sure with time they won't mind that too much either. And you'll figure everything else out on your own". Damik stopped two linguakins and said "Hey guys, this is Chi. She'll be staying in our tribe, can you help get a tent set up." Damik also intoduced Chi to the sandy-spike haired, blue-tinted skinned linguakin and the red haired, black-hued skinned linguakin. They smiled and greeted Chi "Nice to meet you, I'm Han" said the sandy haired guy "and this is my brother Rin". His brother merely nodded and smiled, they went to get the supplies and followed Damik towards his tent.

"My tent is right here" said Damik as he patted the taut fiber of the tent they walked by, "We'll have to place yours about two tents away in my row, but its close enough, if you need me you know where I am." They came to a larger space between two tents, a space which should be filled by another tent. "One of our older folk passed on and none of our younger members are ready to move on their own, so we have room to spare for a new arrival" He said as the brothers helped him set up the sticks and the fabric for the cozy tent.

"Hey Chi, in about an hour we'll have a campfire, we'll all be able to gather together and you'll be able to meet the others of my tribe. We tell stories and sing, share news from outside the tribe and stuff. It's a fun social gathering"

(I feel so bad that their going through all this trouble to help her but then their actually going to be split up from the tribe in the end D: xD )

(I knooow D: I think I am going to have Chemi crush a bit on Han, just for funzies haha. Since it’s not going to really go anywhere buhaha. )

Chemi smiled at the brothers, the older of the two, Han, she felt like she had made instant friends with. He reminded her of a member of her last tribe, whose name was Toben. Han's personality instantly reminded her of Toben, making her very happy to have meet him. Toben was Chemi's special person before the mutains and oracle came through and obliterated her tribe. Toben and Chemi were almost inseparable, they fished and did a lot of things together. They were more then friends, although they never clearly told each other how they felt. Chemi could say it willingly now, she was in love with Toben not that that mattered anymore. Although she did just meet Han and she tried not to show her interest in him, it was sadly obvious though, Chemi was just not good at hiding things when she was so overwhelmed and excited.

When they were done finishing putting up the tents, Chemi thanked them a few times. “Thank you Han, Rin.” She said with a smile, “You two really helped me out. Thank you to you too Dai.”

Soon Damik got her attention and told her about a campfire, where the tribe tells stories and shared things. She wondered if they did this evry night. Her Tribe mostly only did that every 4 days and on days to celebrate, such as birth of a child or a bonding of two Linguakin. Her interest was immediately perked and she smiled at the three men infront of her, “Stories? I am a really great story teller. Singer too, and other things… I did a lot of entertainment back in my own tribe!” Chemi said, her eyes shined with happiness and excitement as she clasped her hands together. Nothing pleased her more then to tell stories and making people laugh or scared.

Han smiled "Your welcome, it was our pleasure Chemi", he smiled warmly. Damik told her about the campfire and she responded by saying Stories? I am a really great story teller. Singer too, and other things… I did a lot of entertainment back in my own tribe!”. Damik nodded "Then we're going to be really happy having you here than". Rin nodded "Yeah really, I'm sure my brother Han would love to see you sing." he chuckled. Han elbowed his brother lightly and turned to look at chi "Yes actually, it would be great to have you there, We'd love to see you" they nodded and Han said "Well, I've got to go, goodbye Chi" he waved at her and used the nickname he'd heard Damik use. The brothers walked away and he could see Rin laughing some more, and Han lightly punched his brother on the shoulder.

"Well, that was fun" he noticed Chemi seemed to take a liking to Han, he shrugged, and said "Anyways, we'll be leaving soon, it will get dark." he said. Awhile later, a shadowy blanket of sky shrouded them and Damik came to Chi's tent, "Well come on, Chi, lets get going". They made their way to the round field where linguakins were gathering; men, woman, and children of all ages were crowded around a large pit of flames that reached into the sky, sending small fiery sparks everywhere. It cast an illumination in a large radius, allowing them to see each other in the bright orange glow.

An elder cleared his throat, hushing the crowds of linguakins "Alright everyone, settle down" he said as the crowds settled down and he spoke again "Does anyone have anything to tell us today? Damik perhaps?" All eyes turned to Damik, Han and Rin in particular smiled, knowing what was coming. Damik cleared his throat "Yes, actually" he stepped forward and pointed out Chemi "This is Chemi. Or Chi. She'll be staying with us". His eyes shown a soft yellow glow and a lot of other linguakins followed suit, their eyes shifting the same color at her introduction. The crowd grew louder with the sound of voices greeting her, a lot of linguakins came up to greet her. Saying hello to her and moving on. Han and Rin came forward "Hi again!" Han said enthusiastically.

The elder spoke up again "Hello Chi, do you have anything you would like to share with us. A song. A story, perhaps?" he inquired.

Chemi laughed as the boys next to her greeted her again, smiling at Damik for introducing her. She felt so nervous and slightly overwhelmed, everyone was welcoming her. There were a few wary souls in the crowd, but Chemi could not expect for anyone to love her right off the bat. She had been thinking all day what kind of story to tell. She wondered if she should tell a story of history, or a story of love or a scary story. She was thinking of doing something exciting to impress people, but then what about the kids? Would that be appropriate?

When the elder asked if she had anything to tell about, Chemi’s heart skipped a beat and she felt a little fright, which no one would know that never happened to her. Looking at Han, Damik and Rin she smiled a bit and then stood up. She decide on a fun story of adventure that one of her elders said was told long before she became good at telling stories. This story was a tribe favorite among children of her own tribe.

“Yes Elder… I actually know a few stories.” She said nervously shuffling, “If you would have me tell them. I’ll be honest, I could not think of a really great story because I am so envious… but I have a short funny one you guys might like.” Chemi waited for the elder to give her the go ahead, and when he did she took a deep breath and closer her eyes a bit. When she opened them back up her eyes shown a beautiful light blue hue, Storytelling and learning were always the most calming things for her.

Deciding on telling a story of adventure about a hero name Loretad, Chemi raised her voice so everyone could hear her, Praying that they have not been told this story before. “Long ago there was a Linguakin named Redunti. Redunti was known well in his tribe for being handsome and strong, he protected his village fiercely. Redunti was also very selfish and twisted; most of the tribe knew this but ignored it because if they said anything he would leave them to die defenseless, because Linguakin being peaceful people.” Chemi started making round around the camp fire, mostly stopping near the children. She put a lot of emotion into the story, her eyes flashing with the sway of the story.

They story went on longer then Chemi meant for it to go, but she was so entranced telling the story that she could not bring herself to skip a single detail. “When Loretad faced Redunti, they battled for days, completely tied in strength and smarts!” Chemi was getting excited over the ending coming soon; it was almost like she was dancing around the fire. “Then one day Redunti cursed everything and everyone, his lust for power and anger no longer able to fuel him. He fell to his knees in the middle of battle and told Loretad to strike him down. Loretad raised his spear…” Chemi did as she was talking watching the crowd taking a generous pause. “And then he dropped it and said, ‘you are not worth my blade.’ Loretad turned away, causing Redunti to fly into one last rage. But before he could run to harm Loretad, the village he had tormented under the name of protection for so long rose to their feet and overwhelmed Redunti, shunning him from the tribe for the rest of his life. “

Chemi thought she rolled the ending a little flat, she would need to try and make that a bit better. Taking a deep breath and hoped they had liked the story, “From there Loretad became the new tribe protector, and he protected it with kindness and loyalty.” She finished with a smile. Some of the on lookers looked like they were interested in her story, the children especially. Some of the adults of the congregation she could not tell is they actually liked the story or not.”Oh uh.. thank you for listening!” She said, nervously moving to go sit next to Damik and Han. Chemi took a deep breath again, her eyes reflected worry. “Ooh I hope that was ok.”

(I totally hope that was ok haha.)

(LOL, that was great actually xD , so both of you can relax)

Damik smiled "That was brilliant Chi, you're a natural storyteller" Han and Rin clapped and a lot of the other people in the crowd talked amongst themselves. Daljooraum from somewhere in the crowd nodded "Very intriguing, it's an old story, one that I have not heard in awhile, thank you for sharing Chemi" More chatter amongst the people. Another elder spoke up "Now would anyone else like to share?"

There were more people who got up, shared a few tales. People who shared important milestones and events in their lives. Births, deaths, special occasions. Nearly all people of the tribe had something to share, and there was much conversation about each person. The tribe broke out in a few classic songs, and after a bunch of melodies resonated. It was a few hours of singing and dancing, with the last song hand got up and reached for Chi's hand "Would you like to dance with me?" he asked her.

Damik clapped along with the rhythm and he looked to see his friend Han had asked Chi to dance, "Go ahead Chi" he said, he was asked by another village girl as well and he got up, taking her hand and stepping into the fiery circle of people. The girl looked at Damik, "Hey Damik, where'd you meet her?" Damik held her closely and took a few rhythmic steps twirling her around before taking another step "She was alone, her tribe was wiped out" his eyes became a vivid blue. She danced in fluid steps but her eyes imitated his somber color "That's horrible! Poor girl, I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a whole tribe." Damik nodded "Yeah, but enough of the sad talk, this is a happy time" They danced together some more, talking about less troubling subjects. Simple and happy, more trivial subjects.

Han looked at Chi "I mean, can you dance?" Most linguakins where good dancers, but not always. It was an art that was taught, and each tribe had their own types of dances.

When Han had graved Chemi’s hand she felt herself blush, on her cheek and in her eyes. When she looked at Damik, he encouraged her to go a dance, being swept away by a different girl, probably someone special to him. “I mean, can you dance?” Chemi heard Han ask, making her snap her attention back to him. “I-its not what I am most great at, but I think I am pretty decent.” She said with a smile. She stood up with Han and walked into the dancing Linguakins with him.

Chi was not as graceful at dancing as her words were during her story. She missteped sometimes and made obvious mistakes often, but Han seemed nice enough. He would laughed with her as the danced and it made Chemi happy. He eyes grew a soft yellow, she was the happiest she had been in years right now. She hoped more then anything the villagers will let her stay with them. She hoped more then anything that the Villagers will adopt her. “You’re a really great dancer Han! I am so sorry I am such a lousy partner.” Chemi said while they were dancing. “Also I am sorry I probably seem creepy taking an interest in you right after we meet. I hope that did not bother you too much.“ Chemi’s eyes flush with embarrassment as she continued to dance with Han.

She occasionally caught a glimpse of Damik. She owed so much to him, she had no idea how to thank him. Even if the tribe did not adopt her, she would still owe Damik a lot for letting her experience what it was like to be in a tribe again. She moved her gaze back to Han’s and smiled at him, her eyes flashed soft yellow again, “I hope I can stay here.”

Han nodded "Not at all, you re doing fine" he smiled "It doesn t bother me at all either. If anything, I thought I was the one who has taken an interest in you" he twirled her around and danced in rhthym to the songs "Don t worry I m sure you ll be able to stay, we have already accepted you here, I think"

The festivities went on for a while. Han waved her farewell and the linguakins went back to their respective homes, Damik walked astride with Chemi and laughed "That was really fun, I think they loved you a lot Chi." he sighs in content as he reaches his tent. "I ll be heading in now, try to get some sleep and I ll help you out in the morning." he nods as he enters the tent and curls up on the patchwork blanket. He closes his eyes and his mind wanders

(Sorry I dont have an apostrophe key and that this is a short post. The attack begins in morning.)

(Don’t even worry about it! Ill put her to bed and let you start the attack a bit xD )

Chemi waved at Han and smiled a bit. She was happy she was going to get to see him later. The story she told really made a lot of the tribe take a liking to her. Even after most of the festivities were over she had a lot of children ask her to tell more stories and a few of the adults even congratulated and thanked her. Chemi was feeling very much at home already. She was natural at making friends much like Damik.

Damik helped her navigate back to their tents when everything was officially over. He told her to get some rest, but she was so riled up she could not make herself settle down. She twisted and turned in her new bed, listening to the sounds of her maybe soon to be new tribe mates. Eventually she found her mind had stopped racing and sleep finally took over, thoughts of introducing her brother to Han and Damik.

The sun barely grazed the sky when packs of creatures lined up in battle ready formation, the leader stared into the peaceful village and his smiles flashed brightly in the slight darkness of the early morning.

Seconds later there was chaos, the mutants pillaged and ravaged the tents. The soldier Linguakins rushed out to defend their territory with swords and weapons. The linguakins battled like this for some time and were successful in pushing them away. The citizen linguakins were pushed away to the edge of the village and the soldiers worked to keep the mutants at bay.

Damiks eyes flashed a vivid purple, he couldn t believe his eyes, this wasn t happening, it couldn t be. In a few horrifying minutes it would be apparent whether or not his tribe was successful in fending of these monsters. He counld nt bear to watch it any longer. He looked at Chemi, "I have to go in and help". They were at the edge of the tribe watching the battle, but Damik could nt stay, he had to defend his tribe. "Come if you want, but I suggest you stay here".

Damik ran to his trampled tent, digging under the cloth and blankets to find his Bronzilver sword, he pulled it from its sheath and ran into the fray of battle, hacking off two arms of on of the beast. It screamed in anger and lashed out at him. He dodged it successfully, ducking under a swipe of his other two arms and he lunged the sword into its chest, allowing it to sink deeply. The creatures five eyes rolled in the back of its head and he slumped onto the floor dead in a pool of his greenish blood.

Chemi woke up to screams and yelling. Startled, Chemi opened her tent and stared in horror around the camp. Mutants! They were attacking. No no no no, Chemi thought in her mind. Looking close to her she saw Damik run out of his own tent and lock eyes with hers. Damik told her she should stay back, but she refused. She watched her last tribe die as she escaped, but not this time, this time she will die to let this tribe escape.

Ripping off fabric, the promptly tired them around the knuckles of her two firsts. Her tribe did not use weapons, but they did use their fists and feet. It was necessary to be quick in water to fish. This ability brought her tribe slightly unnatural strength in their arms, making their punches slightly more lethal. Chemi was scared, but what out powered her fear was anger. Damik ran ahead of her before she had finished wrapping her knuckles, but she turned around and run into the fray.

Stopping to take out a few by punching them in the head or face, Chemi would help anyone who was caught by the Mutants and tell them to run away. Chemi spared no Mutant and tried to make every blow count. She did not make it through the crowd without several scraps herself. One had cut her across the neck, almost getting throat, but she had pulled back seconds before. She felt herself kill a few mutants in moments when her fists connected to their heads, cracking in the skin. Some Mutants have extra limbs or eyes , but sometimes they lack strong bones or protection for vital parts. They were twisted creatures that were different in every way from each other.

When Chemi saw Daljooraum and the other elders, she bull rushed into a Mutant, tumbling over with it and a few other who happen to be standing next to it. “Run. You need to run.” She pleaded the elder, getting up and looking back at the Mutant she took down.

The elders refused, "We need to keep them at bay, we're not leaving until everyone is safe". The elders issued an order for the other people to leave immediately. Damik looked over to see the frightened and saddened Green eyes of the people. But slowly they shuffled out and away from the danger. The soldiers battled on as long as they could, the elders directed the fight. They waited until the people had successfully evacuated.

They continued the fight, they were winning, gaining an advantage against the arrogant and vicious mutant tribe. They were sloppy and relied solely on the power of their extra limbs and arms. Damik slashed his sword left and right, taking off heads and arms at random intervals. One mutant punched him in the gut and he stumbled back. He gritted his teeth and gasped for air. Hacking a bit before the mutant proceeded forward to finish him. He jabbed his sword into the oblivious overling and it collapsed before him.

Damik was proud, they were winning. All around them the dropped corpses of mutants littered the ground and only a few fighters were left. One mutant who appeared to be the leader screamed out a command. "Take them". Damik was confused, what did this mean? The official soldiers stepped out of range, away from the mutants, too far for fighting range. What was going on? Why were they evading the enemy. Suddenly he was grabbed by three mutants, arms held him down and he struggled. Suddenly he knew, it was a code, the soldiers were briefed on it but he wasn't. He looked over and saw Chi had been captured also.

"Halt! Cease battle!" Daljooraum stepped forward. "Of all the cheap dirty tricks, Gorvoraul, let them go!" The mutant blinked and he gave devious grins. "No, surrender now or we'll take them." The linguakins looked around, there eyes were a vivid azure. They had been defeated by one move, and it wasn't there way, they couldn't leave their tribemates behind. Damik cried out. "Don't listen to them master Daljooraum, go, leave us". Daljooraum was conflicted "We shall not leave you behind Damik". Damik shook his head vigorously "I give myself up for the safety of all of you, go now!" he shouted. He looked over to Chemi.

Chemi fought until she was pinned and held. She couldn’t move, she was scared, angry. Her eyes were flashing a furious Orange. When she realized that she was not part of this tribe and there was no use looking to them for help, she looked away from the elder. Besides, she threw herself here to save them in the first place. “Leave. Now.” She said. “Don’t make Damik’s sacrifice meaningless. Don’t end like the waterfront.”

Her eyes drained until they settled into a heavy blue when she looked back at the elders. Suddenly she pushed her head back and head butted the Mutant behind her, causing him to let her go and hold his face with his four arms. Twisting around Chemi took out a couple more Mutants before she was over whelmed by four of them pinning her to the ground. She screamed in frustration, breathing heavily she continued to struggle, anything to buy Damik’s tribe time.

Everything about her own tribe flashed though her mind. She was in the hands of mutants again, and Damik was experiencing everything she once did. This is not something she would wish onto anyone. Finally after long moments of struggling, Chemi went limb on the ground and closed her eyes.

Daljooraum's eyes grew heavy with sadness but he nodded, submitting to the will of the captured Linguakins "You will not be forgotten, both of you are our tribemates, and should you be alive we will find you" With that he bowed low, the others followed suit. With a sad mourning that emanated from the crowd of soldiers they ran away from the mutants.

"Chemi!" Damik screamed, this was horrible, she was passed out and probably on the brink of being killed by these monsters. Damik didn't care if he died fighting, but to bring Chi into this who had lost so much already was devastating. He struggled uselessly against the mutant who had a firm hold on him, a fist was brought down on his skull and he passed out.

Kasia awoke the next morning restless, something was wrong. Shouldn't they meet here by now, like they promised? She sucked in a breath. She only met them once, it wasn't like they were obligated to follow through on a promise. But something told her it wasn't just a broken promise. What if they didn't come because they couldn't. Should she check on them. She looked over at Jori.

Jori dozes by the grasses, he sighs in his sleep, dreaming about his tribe. He yawns and stretches himself awake. His ears press to his head when he realizes he's not with his tribe, that they had separated. He stands up on all four legs and looks at Kasia.

Sage had been awake for several hours now. Her sleep had been disturbed and angry. She just laid motionless on the ground and listened to Jori and Kaisa. Kaisa was up long before Jori was, she could hear her pacing the ground and shifting her weight while looking around. She seemed nervous, like she was waiting for something. It made Sage a little on edge too because it could be a bit of a trap.

Next Jori shuffled, she heard him yawn and stretch. She did not want to get up right now. She was never depressed, and she never shows a sad face. That was just not her. But in truth, she felt abandon. It was probably not her fault, or her tribes fault. Sage was never sad, even in the dark times of starvation she took care of Faunan that were much weaker for her. She tired her best to keep a positive attitude in the time of war. She needed time to collect herself, compose her mind. The abandonment of her tribe was a lot to take in.

Picking herself up off the ground, she did not bother to stretch, just stiffly walk to the water to drink. Shaking herself, Sage jumped into the water soaking herself from head to tail. The chilly water felt great, refreshing. It felt like a bit of a shock to her mind. Just the temporary refresher she needed. Climbing out of the water she shook herself dry, stretch and then looked up at Kasia. “What has been your problem all morning? You have been pacing and shifting like you are expecting people.” She observed, not really in a mean manner, just curiosity.

Jori walked over and lapped up from the water and looked at Lya, equally curious. Lya swished her tail and looked in the distance "I am expecting people, they-they're not here. Maybe they won't come, maybe I should find them" she mumbled, She stood up and Jori walked beside her looking up at her in his wolf form. Lya ran a hand through his fur, it was soft and comforting. She sighed, she needed that. She looked back in the distance again, hoping everything was okay.

Jori sat down and calculated what she had said, he wondered if there was something they could do. Maybe help her find her companions.

-----

Damik awakened, struggling against the chain, he realized. His eyes snapped open and he looked at his arms bound by metal bonds. He pulled against it uselessly, his eyes flashed a yellow and searched around "Chi?" they were in a deerhide tent, it seems, it was large, typical of Mutant work. He looked over and was relieved to see Chemi was here, trapped but alive.

(Who… is Lya? xD Did you mean Kas? xD )

Licking a soggy paw, Sage gazed between Kasia and Jori. Jori was already as relaxed as she was the fact that he just let Kasia run her hands through his fur like that. She wondered if her a Jori trusted to easy. Sometimes that was a strength, a strength that did not come easy in times of war. “They say that your instinct can be your strongest ally.” Sage said, walking to a patch of grass to sit down in so her back side did not get muddy. “If you are feeling like you need to find them, then I think you know what you need to do. We have nothing better to do, and I know when Jori is curious.”

Shaking her soggy fur again, Sage was starting to feel a little chilly. Maybe doing that was a bad idea, oh well the sun will dry her off when they start moving.

-----

Chemi felt unbelievably heavy. She felt like she couldn’t move, she felt like she was in a dream. Hearing her nick name called she looked up to veggly see Damik. Trying to sit up, Chemi heard the moving of metal with her own movements. She was chained up much like Damik. Chemi was not sure how to feel right now, but soon after staring at Damik’s yellow eyes, she felt extremely sadness rinse over her.

“I am sorry that it turned out this way Dai.” Chemi managed to say. “I must be cursed or something, to bring down tribes with me.” Her head was throbbing. She wanted her brother right now, he always manages to make her happy in situations that where bad. He was strong and brave, Chemi is just calm. She was not brave, although she was sure she was strong.

Damik cast his gaze away from her. "It's not your fault Chi, I did what I could. At least my tribe is safe. He sighed and wondered if they would ever get out.

Yalis crossed her arms and pouted, her superior just scolded her about looking in all of the tents. It's not fair! Why couldn't she do what the adults were doing? The whole raid was confusing, they never told her anything. She kicked a few rocks around absentmindedly until she found another tent. She looked around to make sure no one was watching then went in. She gasped, there were two prisoners here, she hated it when her tribe had prisoners. She couldn't understand why. But every time she broached the subject with someone they said it was 'adult business' and that she wouldn't understand. "Are you okay? Why are you chained up? Did my tribe hurt you? Do you need help?" She fired out the questions and sat cross legged in front of them.

Damon looked up at her weakly, he was surprised to see a young mutant girl enter, it appears she was utterly confused by the situation "My tribe...was attacked by your tribe"

that was horrible, Hali's thought perhaps she could set them free and face the consequences, she was only 'just a kid' after all. They'd let her off easy

----

Kasia ran in the direction she'd saw her friends go but was confused. After a few feet she had no idea where she was going or where her friends could be. She sighed, tail drooping and ears flat and looked defeatedly at her companions. "I...don't know where they are" she whimpered. Jori nodded, sniffing the air. "I smell a few scents, but can't say for sure who it is, do you have anything with their scent on it?" Kasia shook her head, Jori sighed and looked at Sage. "We should try to find them anyways" he followed the unknown scent and hoped it was them.

Chemi laughed, this mutant was so young, still shield from the horrors of war. “Help us at your own cost child. I bring your tribe no ill will. What is your name?” She asked, children was Chemi’s weak point. Even the innocence of a mutant child was not something Chemi could ignore. “Have you heard of the story of the mutant child who saved his tribe by exploring the world and finding a safe haven for their species? His tribe was being hunted by a Faunan tribe. In order to protect his sister, the little mutant, only 13 years old, left home to find a place for their people to call home. His adventure left him to meet many many different people and talk with many species. He saw wonders that he only dreamed of. One day—“ Chemi hushed her whisper for a moment when a shadow walked by the tent and then left as fast as it came.

She resumed, catching the girls attention once more, “One day, the child comes across a Linguakin and is told a story about a place of peace and wonder. A place that would be a safe haven for all. When the Mutant asked where this place would be, the Linguakin told him no place existed, that was just a child’s tale to keep the nightmares away.” Chemi looked up at Damik, why was she telling a story at a time like this? Well it was one of the few things that kept her calm. “The boy was gone for years, the travels made him grow into a man, one to be respected and valued. During these years he had looked for this place the Linguakin talked about and never found such a place. But, through his years of travels he found many such places with as much protection and food a plenty for anyone to live off of. He knew his people could make any place paradise. The man went home to take his village away, he was not sure where but if he took them to all the places he had been, maybe they would find a place that called to them. When he returned, his mother had passed, and his sister had grown.” She paused at this part, thinking of her own brother how he had abandoned her. Stupid jerk. “She saw the boy and knew he had turned into a man and welcomed him home with open arms. When he tried to convince his tribe to leave… few would follow.”

Chemi smiled at the Mutant girl, “this was the birth of one of the moving Mutant tribe several hundred years ago. I can’t recall the name of it, but that tribe grew to be a very powerful tribe. The story may have seemed pointless to you, but you are what I imagine to be an adventurer. Someone who feels they have a greater purpose in life. You give off an air very similar to what I imagine the boy of my story would.” Chemi sure hope she did not sound like she was trying to butter the mutant girl up, although she realized she did just tell a pretty good story. She had no idea where the story came from, but the mutant girl really did remind her of the guy. "My name is Chemi by the way, and this is my friends Damik. Your people will probably kill us once they realize that Damik's tribe is not coming back for us." She said, not sure if the child would understand the severity of their situation, but if she did might truly help them, after did seem like she really cared.

Sage sniffed around the ground, she could smell war. It was in the air, did Jori smell it too? “Jori, Kasia. There was a battle around her recently. Seems like it ended a lot like ours, the groups split to a retreat. Only difference is they both let in large groups instead of scattering.” She felt like she was making a great observation, she hoped she was not repeating what Jori already thought. “Which scent do you want to follow, Kasia?” Sage asked.

Yalis sat cross-legged on the dirt of the tent. Enraptured by the story, the girl went on about the brave mutant who tried to convince the tribe to leave, it was surprising that she could tell such amazing stories, she even forgot about the condition they were in. She pushed herself off the ground with her four arms. "Of course I will help you out Chemi. I'm Yalis by the way. My tribe is weird, they won't tell me why they are doing this, but I don't think it matters. It's a dumb idea, I can help you guys out. She studied the chains, crossing one set of arms and balancing her elbow on the other while she held her chin, deep in thought "I think the prisonermaster has the keys, I think I know where he is, I can find it". Yalis ran off out of the tent.

Damik could barely catch the words, it was such a flurry and the girl was overly excited. He looked over at Chemi, "Do you think she'll do it? I hope she'll be okay" He sighed, hoping that no trouble would come to her because of them. He shifted his weight to a sitting position, the shackles dug into his flesh and he winced, he clenched his teeth and let out a hiss. As much as he didn't want her in trouble, he really wanted to get out of here.

Yalis ran far and fast. She stopped to a halt when she saw the man who had two heads, his back was turned and he was swinging his three hands in a dramatic manner as he was busy conversing with the other mutant. There was a table between them, she could see the keys in his front satchel pocket, barely sticking out. She wondered if she could get it. She crawled over, staying low to the ground. The man loomed above her. They were busy muttering some random things, bits of conversation she tuned out. She reached her hand up, very carefully, trying to slide the keys out. The man flinched and looked down, Yalis retreated under the table and he began chatting again. Yalis reached her hand out again, sliding the keys out carefully. Success! She managed to take them and run.

Damik jumped suddenly when he heard pattering feet coming back to their tent. The girl ran in jangling some metal keys. She walked over to them, releasing Chemi from the shackle and him at the same time. He stood up, feeling sore everywhere and rubbed the skin on his wrist, it would leave a mark, but luckily he didn't think it was nothing permanant. For the first time in a long time his eyes sparkled a pale yellow color, "Thank you Yalis. It feels good to be out" Yalis grinned and bounced up and down excitedly "It's no problem, not at all, I'm glad I help you in fact, Can I go with you guys?" Damik blinked in confusion and said "But, shouldn't you..." he was going to ask her to stay, but what if she was punished. "Well...I guess you can come with us, you'll get in trouble after all" Yalis shook her head. "No, that's not why, they'll let me off the hook easily because I'm too little. Blah!" She stuck her tongue out and waved her arms angrily. "I want to come because I want to go on an adventure and do some good things, like in your story". Damik looked over to Chemi to see her response "Should we?" he asked.

-------

Jori shook his head, "I don't know, there seems to be a strange scent mixed with what appears to be the mutant scent. Kind of like yours Kasia" he looked into the distance "I bet it's the people you're looking for" Mutants must have taken them." Kasia's eyes turned a worried green. She sucked in a breath and her ears and tail drooped at the sound of that "Oh no! I knew they were in trouble! I hope they are okay". Jori ran in the direction "Come on" he yelled to his companions to follow the trail

(I'm so sorry I haven't been able to get on much as of late, don't be too worried if I can't get on. I'll try my best. And about the 'Lya' thing xD that was my other character, I knew I was going to screw it up eventually. :P )

Chemi smiled at Yalis, this was probably her fault for telling the story. “As long as you can accept that danger is also out in this world, they you will be fine.” Chemi said to Yalis. Chemi could never give back her years of seeing the world, it was the most amazing experience she ever had. Yalis was young, but Chemi saw her as responsible for the mutant child. If they did make it out alive now, and they did find Damik’s tribe, she would not go back with him, but take Yalis around the world. “You have saved me and Damik’s lives. For that we thank you, but we are not out of danger yet. Please lead the way, we need to make it out of your camp.” Chemi told Yalis. Chemi felt pretty weak, the mutants did a good number on her.

Sage felt like they followed the sent a good ways until it was starting to get stronger, from there Sage fell into step with Jori and then stopped. “So I certainly hope your plan Jori was not run in blindly. We are heavily outnumbers and we are not even sure what we are looking for…. What does your friends even look like Kasia?”

(You're going to Australia? That's so cool! I went there for two weeks once. In a 'People to People" program. I hope you have fun. I did :)
