Private for Razorstar + Syrrus

"Keep it, you'll need it eventually." Magpie said, raising his hand dismissively. The prince needed to have some sort of weapon, even if the boy didn't look strong enough to even cut away bones from a already dead fish. The young man knew what they would meet and who they would have to cross paths with. There were more demons like himself out there and the Queen was only the start of a long and frustrating list of people Magpie rather didn't meet up with, ever.

"Fine, if you so gladly want to know. I am Mathew, it's just a name I gave myself so you humans could have a easier time pronouncing it. The Queen back there is my wife because I married her to become king. I was bored, once. Long before I decided to travel the world." He took a deep breath and went silent for a short little while before continuing. " I am the demon of mischief, by the way. Hence the nickname."

Alright, so that answered a few questions. Most of them, actually. But there was one that was bugging him now. "Why are you letting me travel with you? I'm just a prince and you're..." He sighed, hanging his head slightly so that he was watching his feet move. "You're a demon. Why not just sell me back to my father or leave me to fend for myself or kill me? Why deal with me traveling with you?" He looked up at Mathew, his eyes confused. He appreciated being taken along for the ride, but a reason sounded splendid.

"Because, Highness, the man didn't want you and your father don't have what I wanted." Magpie rolled his eyes and looked down upon the young man, raising a very skinny eyebrow. "I apologize if that disappoints you." He wasn't. Magpie was just happy to have someone to travel with, if only for a little while and seeing as it was the prince of man it just sounded a lot better. It was a lot more impressive than any little farm boy he could have griped and tied up, after all. "So... What else? Are you going to be racist?" Chuckling Magpie slapped Daniel over the back, humans were fun. The traveler even had a theory the race of men had been created for his own amusement, but it wasn't something he would discuss with one of them. "Just don't tell anyone. This is a very big secret you have to hug onto. It's hard enough to bargain with people as a thief, never mind as a demon thief."

He shrugged a hint. He wasn't sure what Mathew could have wanted that his father didn't have, but he wasn't complaining. He was just curious about the mysterious man he was traveling with. "So, you can do magic?" He asked, cocking his head to the side and studying him. He looked human, and Danny definitely wouldn't have thought he was a demon of a things. Not that he knew of anything we he could have been. Up until now, he didn't know demons were real. The idea of supposedly mythical creatures being a reality was strange. Apparently, he had been very sheltered by his father.

"Just call me Magpie, alright Highness?" He said, it was more of a order than a question. Magpie didn't much care for his mortal name. He preferred the one of a thievish bird a lot more than one of a man.

The man looked down upon the prince, wondering for what seemed to be a very short moment if he was cruel to have forced him to follow onto a journey that he could not handle, he didn't even know that demons were real. Magpie sighed and shook his head before pulling his hood and scarf of, not realizing he was still wearing it to conceal himself the way it did.

"Come on Highness, we need to get you some proper clothing, you looks like a twit walking around like that."

Danny frowned, looking down at his clothes. "What's wrong with them?" They were his classic clothes for wandering and hunting. He thought they seemed perfectly suitable for going on an adventure. But, Magpie seemed to disagree. He studied the clothes.

Alright, so many wearing blue, white, and gold was a tad strange in the forest, but it was comfortable, a bit waterproof, and warm. Wasn't that all that really mattered in

"What is wrong? Do you think any of that will let you survive in rain, desert sun or snow? I thought not. No, what you need is a good hooded cloak, a scarf for your face so the sand won't go down your throat, you don't want to drown in sand, do you? You also need better shoes, something heavy enough to keep you on the ground, but light enough to not get you stuck in the swamp. " Everything Magpie said would probably sound strange and a bit unnecessary, but enchanted items was what he redeemed the best for traveling across lands.

As they walked across the bridge they got stopped by some impish creature who were carrying leather pouches and bags. It was clear that it contained water and food, and of course only vedgetables and salted meat. Magpie frowned with annoyance. The vegetables would last them a week, hopefully without going old but the meat would last for a lot longer. It would be stringy and awfully hard to chew but he assumed it was what a human boy needed. "This is a gift to the Prince of Man, from the Queen." One of the imps said as they placed down the sacks in front of them.

Danny looked at the sacks and then back to Magpie. He didn't seem too upset by the gifts. Or, at least, more upset and bitter than usual. He bowed and thanked the imps before picking up one of the sacks, glancing into it. Food. He hadn't even thought of that. Deserts were hot and dry. What if they didn't make it? It was going to be dangerous, too. Maybe he should have thought over his choice more carefully.

Magpie grabbed the leather bags of water and strapped them to his belt. They would have to stay there till they reached the desert. Or at least until he was certain there was somewhere to fill them up again. He tended to stray away from the villagers and towns when he had a mission such as this.

After kicking the imps away, down the left side of the bridge with one strong kick he continued walking. Annoying little creatures. Perhaps he should have turned Daniel into a imp-slave? It could be very useful...

Danny quickly trotted after him, looking back at where the imps had been kicked off. Gifts from the Queen? Strange. Why had she taken such a liking to him?

He quickly found what he believed to be the answer.

He was a prince. Who wouldn't want to be on the future king's good side? He would have armies and power and gold. It only made sense that she would try to make him happy, right? After all, that was what people had been doing his entire life. How could he think any different when it had been proven time and time again? He couldn't. Would he have gotten anything that had been gifted to him over the years if he was the second oldest son and not next in line to be king? Probably not. He sighed quietly, tying the bag of food to his own belt.

"What's wrong, eh?" Magpie looked down at him, rather happy over the fact that Daniel looked awfully down in the dirt because of the gifts his once to be called wife had given him. The damn witch thought that she could steal the human boy away from him, she had such nerve.

Magpie however knew exactly why she was being so bloody kind, it was because she wanted him to stay in the forest. He doubted it had something to do with politics, she always snared people to become a part of their kingdom. If the prince even knew that the bridge they just had crossed were nothing more than a small army from the kingdom of old, turn into roots and empty bark, then the boy surely wouldn't even consider staying.

Danny shook his head, looking at Magpie. "Nothing. I'm just thinking about stuff." He shrugged. It was true. Not very specific, but true not the less. He had a habit of thinking how things would be different if he wasn't the heir to the throne. He often found that things would have been very different. But, that wasn't incredibly surprising. He was a prince, not some commoner. He looked back down at his clothes, picking at the royal seal on his shirt. Sometimes he hated that seal. It was like it trapped him in a world he didn't want to be in.

Magpie recognized that look. It was a look he had seen upon many men, and women. It caused him to pout. He didn't much care for many people's happiness, but he cared for a few. He assumed he did care about the prince's though. Perhaps at least a little. He grabbed the boy by the shoulder and started to walk quicker.

"Come on. Fly with me into a fantasy, so you can be whoever you want to be." He started to run, grabbing a tighter hold of the boy as they exited the forest and began sprinting down the hill towards a small village in the horizon. "If we stay together and I can almost promise that we can get into a point where you can be whoever you want to be." He pushed the boy, trying his hardest to make the kid run with him without having to be forced to be so. They could be Kings of the whole world, without responsibility. It would be great. If they boy just allowed it to happen.

Danny blinked at Magpie as he was pushed before eventually smiling and starting to run to keep pace with him. He started running at his normal pace, also known as the speed at which a horse has a bad time getting through the thick underbrush of a forest. He made it to the bottom of the hill, giggling and practically glowing. He hadn't been too sad, but the short run had been a good cure for the slight darkness in him. Running and nature were his two favorite things behind animals and music. 2/4 wasn't bad.

As soon as they reached town, Magpie slowed down. Anyone with a brain would recognize the prince, especially from his silly cloths. This was why he removed his cape, just to place it around the young man to hide him from the crowd. "We better keep our heads down. We don't need any unwanted attention from these farmers. There should be a clothes shop here somewhere, If I recall correctly. Oh and... If you see some guards, do try and stay close to me will you? I rather not have to find you and murder someone at the same time."

The prince nodded slightly before ruffling his usually perfect blond hair and pulling the cape around him tightly. He hunched forward, letting the light drain from his face and looking even smaller than he already was. He knew how to fake being normal. He had only been doing it for about ten years. "Avoid guards, avoid attracting attention. Got it." He smiled softly up at Magpie before slouching again and staring at his boots. He could do this. He could be normal.

Magpie thought it quite cute that the little prince was so willing to do as he was told. Of course, Magpie did promise him a life in freedom instead of one locked into a castle, so there was that. They continued to walk through the town and as soon as he saw the shop from where they could buy the boy some cloths he opened the door and attempted to throw the prince into it, just to avoid a patrol of guards that came walking towards them.

Danny helped as he was practically thrown, casting a glare at Magpie. The glare disappeared when he spotted the guards. Oh. The situation now made sense. He hid his face, burying it in the cape. He could have practically pulled it over himself and still been covered completely, it was so long. But, Magpie was also far taller than him. It made sense. Everything made sense, in a way.

"I want your finest travelers cloths, jacket, tunic, even boots." He ordered the show owner who instantly hurried along to get hold of everything the tall man asked off him, probably believing the man was very dangerous with all his weapons that he carried. The owner was correct.

Magpie sat down on a chair by the desk and placed his feet on the table, grinning to himself. He was the master of any house. "Not for me obviously." He said as the owner came running towards him and he instantly turned and hurried back.

Danny stood next to Magpie, watching the shop owner run around like a chicken with its head cut off. "Do you always get this great of service?" He whispered, amused by the frantic running around. He was the prince and he was used to have other people do things for him, but no one ran around like that for him. Then again, he never carried around weapons where people could see them, or at all.

"Yup! All the time! Unless they want to kill me. It's the weapons you see, and the way I carry myself. You'll get there too, in the end. Don't you worry about it." He winked towards the prince and continued to look as smug as only Magpie could. The shop owner came back, holding up a dark green tunic towards Daniel, clearly checking if it would fit or if it was his colour, he would look over at Magpie from time to time, to make sure the dark and imposing man did improve with the choices. "Please... try these..." Asked the shop keeper, voice low.

Danny took the tunic, turning it over in his hands. It seemed about his size, or at least very close. The color, on the other hand, bugged him a hint. He wasn't sure why, but the idea of wearing anything other than his family color of light blue made something in his head cringe. But, people would be expecting him to wear blue, right? He smiled kindly at the shopkeeper, nodding his approval. "This will do nicely. Thank you." He purred, trying to offset the fear that Magpie was obviously causing this man to have.

"Yes it's fine." Magpie waved a hand, clearly not too interested in what was going on behind him. He felt tired and guessed it had something to do with his lack of food intake, peering down at his stomach. "Cape and hood too, don't forget that! And something for the neck, in case the weather gets chilly." It was going to get chilly, the shop-keeper had no idea, neither did Daniel really. Magpie had planned the route in his head. They had to walk through the mountains to the north to get to the jungles and later on the desert. The mountain was not a mountain made of rock, to say the least.

The shop-keeper hurried off and soon came back with a forest green cape with a hood attacked and a slightly fluffy looking scarf, hoping it would fit.

Danny studied the cape and scarf, nodding slightly. He looked over at Magpie. He thought it would do nicely, but he also had no idea what to expect on their little adventure. "What do you think?" He asked, nudging the older man slightly and motioning towards the items in question.

Magpie glanced at the cloths chosen by the shop keeper and nodded, it had to do. He made a big swing with his upper body and got back up on his feet, watching the chair which went flying backwards towards the floor. "Boots, heavy but not too heavy." He reminded the owner who was trying his best to pick out a pair of boots, Magpie's voice scaring him half to death which meant that he picked the first thing he saw, boots that looked a bit like Magpie's.
