Fantasy [Private] El Stories

Rena took a deep breath and nodded.

"I understand. I will be more careful in the future. Thank you, Ash."

She pushed her thoughts about Dust to the back of her mind. Whatever happened to him would have to come later. She had a feeling that they would meet again. Right now, she had to focus on the matter at hand.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't catch up to the mastermind. By the time I got over here, he was already gone."

She paused.

"Where's Rain? Wasn't she with you? Also, there was another boy... I think his name was Xavier?"

Rain
She smiles when he takes the bottle.

"I'm afraid I don't have much other than that. I'm already in debt with that man who left."

Trying to go back to her conversation with Ash, it cuts short when a blur of red and a pointed blade finds its way to her throat. She didn't dare scream.

She hears Xavier tell the mysterious girl that they're not the enemy, but the redhead continues to hold her at swordpoint. Rain feels the pull of her other self calling out, and this time, she doesn't stop her.

Other Rain

"Is this how the red knight of Velder behaves? Attacking unarmed warriors? Though since my life is threatened, I will listen to what you say."

Rain did not know much of Elesis other than the rumors that circulate around Feita, but already she was annoyed that her breather was interrupted.

Elesis

"Hmmm...? I would like to know what happened that's all." Elesis replied swiftly ignoring the lizard what would not stop hissing at her. "Depending on your answer, I may or may not burn y'all to a crisp."

In the distance, she felt a surge of mana accumulate into a single entity. That much mana in one place isn't a good sign...

"Ma'am, we are almost at the top. Did something happen?" Penensio called into the party line they had formed before leaving Velder.

"Nothing much, just get ready to take some people into custody. A boy and a girl. Be prepared, they are strong enough to clear out a whole field of demons."

Other Rain
"Xavier, let's go with them quietly. To have Elesis here of all places...it'll be good to be on her good side."

Ash and Rena will get worried about them for sure. At the same time, however, if they start a fight with Elesis over hostages...

It was clear what the better option is.

"May I get this blade off my neck first? A singer's throat is everything to them, after all."

Elesis

"Why of course..." Elesis said. She slowly lifted her claymore off of the blue haired girl. But Elesis's other hand never left her shoulder. "Now, tell me the situation."

Xavier nodded slowly at what Rain said, though he didn't fancy the idea to be taken in. He relaxed when Elesis removed her sword from Rain and took a small step forward, thinking it was safe.

"Well...I don't know much, I got dragged in the mess but I know that it was a demon raid, most likely that they're after the El here. Though Im not every sure if the El is safe or not," Xavier explained his point of view. "I know nothing else besides that."

Ash
Ash tried to get in contact with Rain again but it seems like it was no use, "Dammit. I can't reach her." Ash looked at Rena for a moment and had an idea. "Rena have you ever been thrown before?" Ash built up all the strength he could, Ash called forth his armor which amped his strength even more. "This is all the mana I got"
Ash took hold of Rena, spun around a bit and chucked her high in the sky towards the Tree of El as he felt all his mana drain from his body. Taking out a potion Ash took a great gulp, as he walked back towards the Tree. "Hopefully I'll be good to go by the time i arrive."

Other Rain
"I am with two other people who went after the commander of the demon assault. Though, I have no idea where they are. I was in the middle of contacting one of them when I was interrupted."

She feels the other Rain scold her furiously for her slightly annoyed tone, and she finds her consciousness being pulled on fiercely.

Rain
"I'm terribly sorry for my tone. I'm afraid my other self is quite snappy at the moment."

She curtsies to Elesis and then to the officers waiting below.

"You may speak with my party leader if you wish. Let me set it up for you."

Rain once again chants the communication spell, and she doesn't stop to look to see if she's connected.

"Ash, are you there? There's someone who wants to see you."

She gets no response, and she flushes heavily in embarrassment.

"Ash? Ash? It isn't working...?"

"Wha- wait- Ash, what are you-"

Rena's face was filled with disbelief as she was suddenly grabbed and thrown by Ash. She found herself flying through the air at a high speed and then she stopped. For a brief moment, she floated in the air. Taking advantage of the momentary suspension, she quickly scanned the forest for the ones she was looking for.

She spotted them just as gravity began to pull on her once again. As she fell, she leaned her body toward the top of the tree and called for the help of the wind spirits. They quickly gathered around her and slowed her fall. She landed softly on her feet next to Xavier.

"I'm glad to see that you guys aren't hurt. Ash exhausted his mana to..."

She gave an embarrassed cough. Looking around for a change of topic, she noticed the red haired knight standing beside Rain and tilted her head questioningly toward the girl.

"This person is...?"

Lara continued her way towards the tree of El, feeling the burning desire to unchain the evil within her soul that had fused itself with Berthe's essence. Her head was throbbing, so much she fell down from a high branch into the ground, giving away her position to a tribe of wild phorus that had invaded the ruins of an elven village.

Her fall had broken her ribs and weakened the runes she had casted on herself, revealing her presence for a long instant that allowed at least three of them to see her. The creatures were startled to see a demon so far away from the rest, but they approached her slowly, asking her if she was ok.

Lara got slowly up, feeling the blue scars on her chest begin to glow. Berthe had a powerful hatred that was combined all to well to the El's and her own vengeance. Fangs began to grow from the corners of her mouth. The runes on her body were vanishing rapidly, making her more and more visible.

"Go... Away..." she whispered as she struggled to gain control over her new body. One of the younger phorus approached her, a torch at hand and was surprised to see completely ice-cold eyes and menacing fangs look back at him. He stayed petrified a second too late, the blue claws growing from Lara's hand pierced its chest and drained its vital energy before doing the same to the rest of the docile creatures who were only seeking to help her.

With her new demonic body, her senses were back to their normal state before she had been used by the demons. She felt more signals of life waiting to be absorbed by her. Yes, she had to become more powerful and destroy...

A glimpse of her sunken town returned to her memory. The flames, the demons, the cries for help her fellow friends and citizens were carved into her mind. She stopped her advance in front of a puddle of blood of the fifth phoru she had killed. The night had already covered the forest again and the pale moonlight reflected her own grotesque portrait back at her. A chuckle escaped her lips as she saw the demon's horn and marks on her face. She was becoming like the pests her whole hatred was directed at. She took strongly the horn that grew from her skull and pulled it off.

For the first time in years, she cried in pain. Blood was raining down to her ear, dripping slowly to the ground. Demons may have taken her everything she had cared about, but would never touch her mind again. For the rest of her existence. She mixed a drip of her blood with pure mana and began to carve the first seal into the bloodied horn. A stinging pain spread throughout her body, increasing as each seal was completed until she felt like she was burning alive. She let out a shriek of pain as she repeated to herself that this was not her pain, it was only the effect of sealing the monsters that haunted her away. It was their pain. She had to finish the last...

Her body, unable to support all the pain the final sealing ritual required, fell to the ground, knocking her out over the dismembered corpses of phorus.

Ash
Ash had walked a great deal, he begun to pick up signals from his comrade Rain, "This is Ash, I hear you Rain. Who is it that needs to speak with me." Ash asked as he neared the Tree of El, he noticed soldiers around the outskirts of the Tree. Curious Ash asked Rain, "By any chance is the leader of these soldiers the one seeking me out?" Ash wasn't fully recovered yet but if his guess turned out to be wrong, he had enough mana for at least calling upon his armor, ax, and shield. But throwing his weapons over and over again would cause a great deal of mana loss.
"Probably would've been easier to just run with Rena. She was rather light."
Ash then realized he was still linked with the party, "Ignore that comment."

Rain
Ran swears she will impale Rena in a flurry of silver-colored petals one day.

While waiting for Ash to respond to her call, she hears the tree disturbed by something. A few moments later, Rena lands next to Xavier with a balance that would have made Rain applaud her...if she didn't come from the sky.

"Rena, you have to stop scaring me like that!"

The elf expresses her gratitude for their safety and was about to explain how she got there, but she stops at the last second.

"So...Ash threw you up here?! I bless your ability to land on your feet, Rena, or I will not hesitate to throw...!"

Rain stops herself as well. Only Xavier and Elesis know of her other personality. She feels a bit of fear, not wanting her other companions to call her insane.

Rena doesn't seem to notice, for her focus is now on the red knight that had just put away her sword.

"This is Elesis Sieghart. Leader of the Red Knights. She's very well known in Feita and Velder."

As she is explaining the situation to Rena, the sound of Ash's voice catches Rain's attention. The dancer, relieved that he is also alright, turns to answer him.

"Oh, you're finally here! It was a bit scary having my throat threatened by a sword, but I am okay now. Come on up!"

"No! I mean-"

Having the truth in danger of being exposed by Rain, Rena tried to think a good way to distract her from getting ideas but when Ash confirmed Rain's guess, she just grabbed the nearest thing to her and tried to hide her red face. Realizing that she was acting like a little kid, she calmed her rapid heartbeat and heaved a sigh, moving the object she grabbed away from her face.

"Sorry, I overreacted a bit. What were we talking about aga-"

She felt someone glaring at her from below and looked down. A pair of angry eyes belonging to a furious lizard glared back at her. She yelped and placed it back onto Xavier's shoulder.

"S-sorry..."

What are you doing, Rena?!? You need to calm down and act like an adult!

Demon Realm - Entrance of the guards quarters

"Is that the expedition for the El crystal? Took them long enough." One of the demons commented as they awaited for their commander to appear through the portal.

But they were surprised to see only two spear man and the sub commander coming out of the other side.

"Sub commander! What happened to Berthe? And the others?" He asked him, disregarding their beaten forms.

"Dead. We tried to do a clean hit, the worst situation came about. Did anyone else came by?" He asked while panting.

"No, sir! You're the only ones that arrived!"

"Then they're long dead by now. Guh!"
He grunted as he fell onto one knee.

"Sub commander!" One of them cried out as he offered him help to stand up.

"Tell the higher ups that I'm back and tell them that we need to have a meeting. They'll want to know who was there in the field."
He ordered while being escorted by a demon glitter.

"Yes, sir!" They responded to him, but not too soon, a portal broke loose close by to them.

"A portal!? Where we followed?" He asked himself while waiting for whoever made that portal to appear.

"Oh, I apologize for Komodo's behavior. We...don't usually stay around long in a group like this. He isn't used to it," Xavier quickly said to Rena, petting the small dragon to calm him down. "He is a fierce little guy."

Komodo merely hissed before retreating into Xavier's hood. Xavier only gave a light smile at Rena, feeling a bit awkward himself since he is as well not used to staying long with a group. Or if he is even considered to be part of a group.

'They probably don't need me around for long. I guess I can't really run off thanks to...Elesis here,' he thought to himself, scratching the back of his head.

"I should be the one to apologize. I just suddenly grabbed your pet. It's only natural that it would be angry with me."

Rena smiled back apologetically. She noticed that the boy was looking a bit awkward and that calmed her a bit, knowing that she wasn't the only one that was acting anxious. She gave the boy a pat on the back to help him relax.

"Hey, loosen some of those tense muscles. We're all good guys here. You don't have to feel so nervous. I'm sure that things will go fine!"

She glanced at the red haired knight at the corner of her eye. Since the moment she arrived, she had sense a strong affinity to the El from that girl. There was an aura of a natural-born leader surrounding her. She wasn't a bad person.

However, they seemed to started off on the wrong ends with Rain and Xavier. And with her being a random elf that fell down from the sky, she couldn't exactly be the mediator between the three. She could only wait for Ash to arrive and hopefully sort things out.

From the dark portal emanated a dark energy, someone stepped through and revealed themselves. However, half of their face was covered by a black fabric. Behind them was the sigil of Henir and the sound of glass softly shattering followed their footsteps.

"Greetings." His turquoise eyes encircled by black sclera stared directly at the demons. The air, already stagnated by a dark presence, was further harder to breathe in with the desolate sensation of nothingness. The dark portal disappeared behind him and the Eye of Henir opened before closing.

Her deep slumber wasn't a peaceful one. Old and new torments whirled on her mind, confusing real events with simple nightmares. She was back in Resiam, in its old and peaceful grandeur. It was a dream, she knew it. The town in front of her wasn't real. To confirm her thoughts, Glewin appeared beside her.
"You'll have to face your past, one day or another."
"I'm constantly facing it. Which is why I seek to correct my past mistakes."
A chuckle resonated in the void as Berthe destroyed the town and turn it ablaze. The half-elf that had defeated her tore buildings and villagers apart, laughing at the human's weakness. She had seen her town's destruction way too many times to be affected by it any longer. She knew who were the real mass murderers, she knew that not so long ago she also had worked under the same flag as that elf. Was his mind also being controlled? No, it couldn't be the case. That man thought too clearly to be controlled in any way. Then, just when the fire had died by itself, the quiet voice of a child resonated in the crushing silence covered by ashes and smoke.

"Alright then. You place it in my hands"

The apocalyptic scenario broke into hundreds of shards, revealing the shadow of pure gem. Then, only darkness and a faint turquoise glow remained: one of Henir's disciples had taken it away....

Horrified, Lara woke up, completely conscious and feeling again under complete control of her power. It wasn't bound to last for long, but her dreams had given her a bad feeling about what had happened to the El. She wouldn't find it back in that tree, not when such a shady person had taken it god knows where. So little of her mind remained in her liberated state that only her desire to protect the El from the demons had made her commit one of the worst mistakes of her life. Frustrated, Lara punched the ground, forming a small crater where her fist landed. She looked around her. If only she had come around the campfire of a group of merchants, finding some clothes wouldn't have been so difficult. Nevertheless, she picked up one of the Phoru's bloodied blue bags and used strong illusion runes so it appeared to be her old clothes. For now, that had to do. The runes would fade away with the rising sunlight, but now the sun was dying over the horizon, so she had still time to claim the bounty the chief of the bandits had on his head and buy some decent clothes. Sensing more and more human souls lurking around her destination's area, she reactivated the invisibility spell over her and swiftly approached the site.

At least fifty Red Knights were in place. Instead of defending their hometown they were saving pointless lives. Was that how the demons had overrun her town? Whoever was the commander in charge, he or she was as guilty as her for letting thousands of innocent people be slaughtered.

She calmed her violent thoughts and focused on her old objective. Fighting wasn't a good option for her, not with all these
people around. She would make the Red Knights pay, but for now, she needed the money and the money alone. The rest could wait.

The soldiers aimed their weapons at the new intruder that enter their military camp.

Despite seeing the symbol of Henir, they stood their stance, though cold sweat was running down their faces.

"You're the guy that had the El crystal." Dust limped forward towards the figure with his support.

"Daring, aren't you? Following me all the way back to camp." He continued without showing the slightest bit of hesitance towards their guest.

"Sub commander, that's an Henir's disciple! Watch how you talk to him!" One of glitters warned him while not taking his eyes away.

"If you're here for the shard, I already stashed it away. I'd say for you to go back where you came from. Last thing we would want to do is pissing off Henir himself."

He watched the demons stare at him tensely and felt amused.

"I have not come here for the El Shard," he said in a clear tone. "I'm here for a talk of sorts, a trade."

He chose his words carefully. Demons, which were a byproduct of Ellia's creation of Earth, were always hasty in their nature. He hoped he could secure a trade of sorts.

"A trade? With someone related to Henir?" He asked a little surprised. This never happened before.

"Sir, your orders?" The demons asked while still having their weapons out.

"..." He kept quiet as he listened to the clinking of his chains. "Lay your weapons. All of you." He ordered them while signaling the disciple to follow him.

"Keep a close eye for any other gateways, we don't want anymore guests in our care."

He followed the sub commander, thinking over the deals he could make. He wondered if Henir would be angry with him if he knew he was dealing with demons, but ...Henir would know that Oblivio was doing this for him. For the end game.

Lara went directly to the corpse of the bandit and took his golden amulet. The man with the blessed armor talked to her, but she didn't turn around. She didn't need any allies. Once with her loot at hand, she left the place without a word, strengthening her invisibility spell so that man couldn't see where she was headed.

Once she had new clothes and money, she wondered what she would do. Glave's offer came to mind, maybe she would find him, but returning to his dimension was something she was not prepared to do yet. However, if that was the way to conquer her new powers and beat the demons once and for all, she didn't mind the thought of dirtying her hands. It was a strange feeling, it appeared that the horn she held as a new amulet was more powerful: it was sealing away her guilt.

Once at the village, she presented herself to the El Search Party headquarters and presented the amulet to the black-haired man in charge

"I took care of him and his crew, they won't bother you again."She said, extending her hand to receive the payment: 2000 ED

Lowe looked at her, slightly annoyed by the fact that the bounty had to go in the pockets of another greedy bounty hunter, but he couldn't do anything about it. He took out the bag of Silver ED and before giving it to her, asked her if she had dealt with any demons.

"Will that info increase the amount of money in that pouch?"
"Look, you might only care about money, but noble and good people, unlike yourself, have been..."

He stopped his sentence midway as he saw her hand over the one he held the bag with, holding it tightly, painfully so. Lara repeated her question, staring at him. Her turquoise eyes were intensily terrifying; her gaze brought an uncontrollable fear, submitting his will to her demands.
"Yes. We have some 300ED to spare, I can put it here, if you want."
Lara smiled. She let the man put the copper and silver coins in the bag and headed out, thanking him in a cold voice.

She bargained the price of an almost identical set of clothes she wore before her death with the neighbouring travelling merchants and was now good to leave. This town had nothing else to offer.
