Hello All! It's been so long since I've done forum based, I gotta re-learn all the fancy coding fun-ness, but here's what I've cooked up so far!
Enjoy, lemme know if you have any questions!
Enjoy, lemme know if you have any questions!
Name: Jacob Cullens
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Role: Head Carpenter
Family: He has family, but was primarily raised by his Grandfather, Ron, who passed away two years ago.
Appearance: While not the most impressive specimen physically, Jacob has a smile that can light up a room, and his gentle and playful gaze is the color of a clear sky (though none may yet live that remember such a thing). His tawny hair is thick, and curly, and he keeps his beard groomed but fluffy. His movements tend to be relaxed, yet purposeful, carrying himself Ina manner that feels strangely grounding.
Personality: Friends often describe him as "Chill, if a bit mischievous", and, generally, it's an apt description. Jacob strives to deal with life's hardships with humor, kindness, and empathy. Which isn't to say he doesn't have a temper or find himself pained by some of life's trails, but he's worked on himself a lot and works hard to carry himself well.
In particular, he knows he's been fairly fortunate, and attempts to share his good fortune with others, even if sometimes all he can do is be an accepting an safe space for others.
That said, he does become somewhat easily frustrated with anyone or anything he believes to be unfair or inefficient, and can sometimes be extremely vocal about this. He has his share of tact, but it wouldn't be the first time he's called someone out on their BS that's much higher on the proverbial food-chain than himself...
Pre-Colony Occupation: Master Carpenter at the Museum of Antiquities: Restoration Department.
Specialty: Antique Wood Restoration and Pre-Industrial Construction methods.
Cyber/Genetic Enhancements: No Enhancements, though he did recently receive surgery to correct his concave chest; he's still adjusting to the increased lung capacity.
Personal effects: A tool chest full of Antique tools and paper reference sheets, a small hard-drive with digital copies of books/movies, a physical copy of Moon Called, a Silver ring with Cherokee writing on it, and a Mjolnir necklace.
History: On a dying Earth, no one outside of the elite can really say they had it easy... But, Jacob would definitely consider himself among the more fortunate.
Growing up, his Grandfather, a well known craftsmen, took Jacob under his wing as an apprentice.
In this world of waning resources and dying trees, you'd think there's be no room left in the world for Carpenters, but there are two areas in which they can still eek out of living, the two not-so-secretly deeply connected.
Refurbishing the furniture and homes of the super wealthy, and preserving or refurbishing artifacts, whether they be part of collections public or private...
Truly, the clientele is much the same, as federal funding stopped going to museums long ago, in favor of more "productive" avenues.
And so, a common kid Jacob may have been, but most of his early days were spent following his Grandfather as he served the rich and powerful, primarily focusing on the houses, with a bit of furniture work on the side.
As Jacob entered adulthood, he took up the family trade, though he eventually found himself primarily working in the Capitol's most popular Museum, appreciating the stability it brought to have a set place and time to work every day, and not spend as much time commuting through rough neighborhoods to various mansions.
In his mid-twenties, he briefly enjoyed married life, but they ended things amicably a year ago.
Around the same time, Bluebell Corp announced their plans for the expedition to XR34G9; inspired and recognizing not only the personal opportunities, but the long term ramifications for humanity, he reached out to one of his more auspicious clients, and managed to get a meeting with the Projects planners, where he successfully made the case that a successful colony would need to be able to rely on 'Dying Skills' such as Carpentry and Masonry to ensure long term success.
