Power of the Indebted

On July 2019 the world changed. Thousands of spirits were let loose into our world. People were in a panic at first, though soon they realized something, the spirits could not interact with the world, not on their own at least.

The spirits could do but two things, communicate, and grant one their power. Soon people with extraordinary abilities cropped up, fueled by the spirits power, though it was not free, their power came at a price, earning the name of Outsiders among the general populace.

The price was different for every individual, based on the desires of their host spirit, something that would fuel its goals, or something satisfy it's desires. The price was never a one time thing, to continue possession of their abilities they would have to keep paying it, over and over again, those who have chosen this life being given the name Indebted.

Are you an EAT, NOT, or NEW student?

"I was an EAT Student last year... But one of the teachers mentioned something about about 're-evaluation' if I lost my partner... Again..."

Are you a weapon or a meister?

"Meister!"

If a weapon, what type of weapon are you?

"Huh... You'd think such an important school would have separate forums for each type of student don't you?"

If in the EAT class and a meister, what is your rank (Only 2-3 accepted three star students)?

"Three, Three, Three! It's
Three! And no re-evaluation is going to change that!"

If a meister, what is your preferred fighting style?

"Hmmm... That's a tough one. It's of my opinion that you should change your fighting style depending on your opponent, I mean, using the style you use against somebody with a Rapier against someone swinging around a Warhammer seems a tad silly to me, you know? But.. If I had to pick a favorite it'd keeping pressure on your opponent at all times, don't let up your attack, keep them on their feet. It's only a matter of time before they slip up if you can pull it off right, and there isn't a hell of a lot someone can do if you're good at it."

How many years have you attended the DWMA?

"This'll be my third year. Hah! Three Years! That's a star for each year!"

Personal Profile

What would others say are your strengths?

"What would OTHERS say my strengths are? Ah... Well... I suppose being Studious could count? Yeah! Studious. I can study for just about as long as I need to, and I usually don't stop until I can everything memorized down to the letter... One of my partners even called it obsessive once... But that doesn't matter, I like to think of it as being Determined anyway! Focus on the positives! Anyway, moving on... Housing a sound soul! Well, actually I've only ever been praised on one of those criteria, namely having a Sound Body, I mean, keeping in shape isn't the hardest thing, but I still think it's worth noting... Ah, god. Is this section so hard to fill out for everyone? Um, I have a strong will maybe? Well, that's paraphrasing, people don't normally point that out as one of my strengths, and it's normally worded with a lot more... profanity... But, hey! Being stubor- I mean, uh, Willful, is a good thing, right? I guess that's it the- OH! How could I have forgotten? I'm one of the top students when it comes to my Fighting Abilities like, it's been enough to keep my in the EAT Class, well, alongside my Grades, even with the amount of partners I've lost... Ah, should I be mentioning that here?"

What would others say are your flaws(At least 3, be honest.)?

"Well... I guess we should pick up where we left off... I've had uh, issues, with keeping a partner in the past... They usually say something about me being too Stubborn when they um... Dump me... Wait, that makes it sound my boyfriend is breaking up with me! Not that that's ever happened! I'd need to have ha- Damn it! I'm rambling again... Where was I? Ah, right, Stubbornness.. Well, people, and by people I mean the teachers, often tell me that I should stop refusing to use anything but a Scythe, but that isn't going to happen. If I want to be anything like Lord Death I need be be authentic you know? The staff made me partner up with a few other weapons in the past, but that... Didn't work out... Other than those uh, other two issues, they said something about being sick of how Easily Frustrated I am, though, I think I was pretty justified in that! How could I not be frustrated when they tried to have me use a halberd instead of a scythe! They also mentioned something about Mood Swings, but I don't know what the heck they're talking about there. Anyway, That's... All I can think of for now... Moving On!"

[FURTHER INFORMATION ATTACHED BY STAFF AT THE END OF THIS DOCUMENT]

Describe your personality in 2 paragraphs or more:

"Ah... My personality? Why is this even on an application sheet? ...Well, whatever. I'm a pretty dedicated person, well, I'm
dedicated to the things I'm interested in... What am I interested in? Becoming a Meister of course, it's the most important thing to me, really, some of my old partners said the amount of time and effort I put into my training was borderline obsessive! Wait. Isn't obsessive a bad thing? ...U-Um... W-well I suppose I'm... Good things good things... I'm pretty lighthearted! Yeah! That's a good quality isn't it? Won't be getting me down very easily haha! Now, more good things... Friendly? I guess I'm kinda friendly, though most people just call it being loud, but what do they know right?"

"Mmmm... I guess I have to move onto the bad stuff now don't I? Well, there's the stuff I mentioned earlier... I can be kind of stubborn apparently, but, it's only when I know I'm right! I'm not going to go and budge on something if it means setting me back or something you know? I ramble a whole bunch too, but that this really a bad thing is it? Hmmm... Oh! There's a bunch of stuff I could put here that my psychiatrist told me! Wait, wait. Before you get the wrong idea, I'm not crazy or anything, the DWMA just has me visit one every month. I don't know why, but it's not like I'm some sort of former psychopath. Alright? That cleared up? OK. Well, these notes say I need to be less naive, which I honestly don't agree with, but if the Doc says so I suppose I should put it here, they also say I need to get out of the habit of poorly I handle failure, and I guess I can get... Kind of mean when something goes wrong... And the last part says I need to work on my self-esteem is- Wait! What! I don't have self-esteem issues! Doc or not! This is a mistake!"

[FURTHER INFORMATION ATTACHED BY STAFF AT THE END OF THIS DOCUMENT]

What do you like?

"What do I like? Hm... Well, training... studying... Ah, I guess I should put some hobbies or something on here shouldn't I? Hmm... I'm a decent cook I guess? And I do a lot of doodling when I'm not doing anything else... I kind of suck at drawing though... Oh! And I love sour and spicy food! Not together though. I tried that once. Do not recommend..."

"Oh! I can't believe I didn't mention this! I
love being a Meister. I mean, I'm sure most Meisters do too, but... It's really important to me, even more so than it is more most people I think... OK, That's all! Next section!"

What don't you like?

"Ummm... There isn't all that much I don't like... Failure I guess? That always gets me riled up.. But other than that there isn't a whole lot that I actually dislike... I suppose I don't like bullies or anything along those lines, but that's kind of a given isn't it?"

Give a 3 to 5 paragraph biography:

"Woo, A biography? Actually, wouldn't this be an autobiography? Well, whatever, I'll get to it anyway. So... Where to start where to start... Well, I guess my parents are as good a place as any. The two of them weren't, or um, aren't the most remarkable of people, they weren't Meisters or anything cool like that, Dad's an accountant and Mum is a... Cook I think? So I wasn't exactly born and trained as a Meister, thinking back on it is kind of disappointing, I mean, imagine how much better a Meister I could be right now if I had spent my childhood preparing for coming here, rather than messing around at school and all that boring stuff. So... Yeah, My childhood wasn't too interesting, it was REALLY, painfully normal actually, and I didn't even know it was so boring until I was like eight! Lame right!? You'd think Mum and Dad would tell me about something as cool as the DWMA... Well, when I was eight, my parents won a trip to Death City in some raffle my school was putting on, luckiest day of my life right there! If they hadn't won that I might have never found out about this place! So, the trip wasn't for a few months after that, but I can remember how excited I was the whole time, it was the first time I was going to leave the town I grew up in you see? So it was kind of a big deal for little old eight year old me."

"So a few months passed by and the trip finally came around, and when we got there... It was spectacular! I got to see so many things that I never would have seen in that little town we lived in, I saw my first Demon Weapon, we watched a ton of live demonstrations from the best students in the Academy, and, get this, I even saw Lord Death! Yeah! We didn't speak or anything, but it was still awesome! I guess that was what sparked my interest in becoming a Meister... Well, after that when we got back home I couldn't really settle back in, like, who could have? And I started getting really into Death City, I convinced my parents to buy me all sorts of posters and merch, and by the end of the year my room was basically covered in the stuff. The next couple of years were even duller than the last eight, I was thinking about how much cooler it would be to live in Death City during half of my spare time, and eventually my parent's caught on and booked another trip."

"The second trip is what I really think consolidated my coming here, because I was older, eleven I think I was, the memory is kind of fuzzy... Well, because I was older I was even allowed sit in on some basic Meister Classes, my parents let me take them while they spent time together in the city, and, while I didn't learn a whole lot, I mean, I WAS eleven, it was an awesome experience none the less... The lessons weren't at the DWMA though, apparently my parents couldn't afford to have me go to those, so they found a former Meister had paid her to teach me instead, one to one lessons, and I remember her being super-nice! Her name was... Uh, I'm not sure what her name was... Hmmm... It was... Ah, sorry. Can't seem to remember, actually, there's a lot of stuff I don't remember from that trip... Weird... Oh! There was a note I was supposed to attach around here..."

INCIDENT REPORT

The following is an incident report for the events of [REDACTED], this is meant only for the eyes of the DWMA Staff, and if found it is requested that this document be returned to the DWMA Staff immediately. The report follows.

__________________________________________________________

On the date of [REDACTED] a Witch was found to be infiltrating Death City, under the moniker of 'Aswill Beatrice' she had presumably been undercover within the grounds of Death City for some time. Known as somewhat of a shut-in by her neighbors we have been able to ascertain little information about her goals, motives and personality, she was revealed by chance when the Meister [REDACTED] happened upon her while giving Faux Meister-Classes to one Tamara Wingate, a tourist visiting the city. After successfully confirming Miss Aswill Beatrice as a witch, Meister [REDACTED] engaged the culprit and held her within the area until assistance could arrive, who soon defeated Witch Beatrice with moderate injuries. In a last ditch effort Witch Beatrice attempted to possess another vessel to escape the attacks of the Meisters on site, sucessfully detaching her Witch Soul and implanting it within Civilian Tamara Wingate. Due to the presence of Meisters on site possession was prevented, but the seperation of the Witch Soul from Tamara Wingate was unsuccessful. Further study on this is requested.

__________________________________________________________

Concerning the implantation of the Witch Soul of Witch Beatrice there is little that I as a Doctor have found myself capable of doing. Under normal circumstances extraction of the Witch Soul may be possible, but due to complications arisen from this particular Witches Possession Technique the Witch Soul seems to have attempted to fuse with, and presumably overwrite the Human Soul of Tamara Wingate. Due to this extraction of the Witch Soul would only be possible via the extraction of the Human Soul of Tamara Wingate, which, realistically speaking, would end with the decease of the subject. Due to the efforts of Meisters and Demon Weapons on scene the process of possession has been halted however, and the influence of the Witch Soul on Tamara Wingate is likely to have been reduced to a minimum. The subject Tamara Wingate also seems to retain no memories of the incident or the day prior. It is unknown if this is an effect of possession or mental trauma from the experience. It is my suggestion as a doctor that the subject is to be kept under observation but otherwise allowed to return to her everyday life, she has mentioned her admiration of Death City and the DWMA since waking, so if extended an invitation to attend the DWMA this should not be an issue.

__________________________________________________________

Since the previous report minor effects of the Witch Soul have manifested themselves. Subject Tamara Wingate seemingly suffers from mild Mood-Swings as a result of the effects of possession, and the Witch Soul has not decayed within Tamara Wingate since it's induction. Other than this the subject shows no other negative side-effects of possession. The following is merely speculation. I recommend you have Tamara Wingate avoid contact with Witches during stay at the DWMA until further study can be preformed, it is likely that exposure to Witch Magic may irritate the balance the the Human Soul and Witch Soul within her maintain, while this is unlike to result in the re-activation of Witch Beatrice's possession, and a re-surfacing of her personalty it may be enough to cause the Witch Soul to fully merge with and convert Tamara's Human Soul, the effects of this occurring are beyond my knowledge, but I suspect the results will either be of an extreme psychological effect, or of the decease of Tamara Wingate.

In terms of day-today life the Soul of Tamara Wingate should be indistinguishable from that of a regular human, only those of especially keen Soul Vision abilities should be able to tell the difference. This is once again speculation, but it is likely that those Tamara Wingate Resonates with will be able sense something being off as well.

(SO. Bandit here, I had another two paragraphs here but I uh, accidentally deleted them... And I cant get them back... It's too late to re-do them now, but it sum it up Tamara had to start visiting a psychologist, and visited Death City one more time for a check-up. After that she started attending DWMA and was ranked a two star on her first year and and a three star on her second. She lost a bunch of partners in the process because of them either being annoyed by here or spooked by her Soul, and if she doesn't find and keep a new partner soon she's going to be moved into NOT Class even though shes a three star, THAT'S how many partners she's lost. I'll retype them in-character. Just.. After I sleep)

How do you feel about the DWMA?

"I love it! There's no place I'd rather be and anyone who thinks otherwise will have to answer to me!"

Why have you joined the DWMA, what motivates you?

"Um... Nothing really? I guess I just want to become a Meister... Why? I guess I look up to Lord Death... Is that good enough a reason?"

What are your goals while attending the DWMA?

"To do what all Meisters do! Make a Death Scythe and become a top DWMA Student!"

Other

"Ah, the letter from earlier is the only thing I think could go here.. Oh! My favorite color is Violet. Just like my hair!"

Personal Items:

"Not much worth noting... There's this scythe I keep handy, I kinda need it for when I don't have a partner... Oh! And this hairpin! See, it's in the shape of Lord Death's Mask!"

Other Important Facts:

"Well. I'm guessing the stuff in the letters is important. Go read those!"

Skylight City, a place where dreams could come true, a place where dreams could be shattered, a place where deals were made. Disgusting. Ian often looked out over the city like this, a deary apartment window may not offer the best view of the city but it was enough to get him mulling over his thoughts much like a man twice his age.

Snapping himself out of his trace-like thoughts he set down the papers he'd been going over, Aequalis reports, apparently some shadow organization and Pure had been at each others necks over the past few weeks and he'd been needing to give read, but it was still far too early for that kind of thing. Throwing on a coat, emblazoned with the symbol of Aequalis and grabbing an umbrella he made his way outside, beginning his morning patrol, hoping he wouldn't bump into any trouble this morning, not being in the mood to deal with anything right now.

Damien packs his bags, The Pure found out about him, he quickly packs up the last of his belongings and goes to leave. When he opens the door two men are standing there, "And where are you going this evening?" Damien smiles, "Nowhere, I just had to drop off some stuff at a friend's house." He squeezes by them and walks down the hall, they walk up behind him, "Great, we'll escort you there so nothing happens to you." He swears under his breath as he walks down the stairs and out the building, the men kept on his feet all the way out. Once outside Damien walks down a back alley, the men follow like the twits they are which is when Damien turns and looks at them, they become terrified all the sudden as Damien takes this advantage and knocks them out, "Jesus Chrst, I need to leave now." He says to himself as he darts down the alley, once he reaches the end of the alley he suddenly charges into a man by accident.

Knocked back by the force of the, at least seven foot man's impact Ian was needless to say, quite startled. "Watch it buddy, there are plenty of folks who would have socked you one in the face for that." Taking a closer look at the man he noticed he seemed to be in a bit of a panic, having the look of someone fleeing a scene. "You OK buddy? You look a bit ruffled, need any help?" He couldn't help but sigh as he spoke, he'd woken up only an hour back and definitely was not ready to play the helpful officer routine yet.

Lairen and Seina were out on a walk, which wasn't unusual to them, but wasn't common either. Despite being bound to a spirit for many years, he had yet to be found out by The Pure. It made moving around a lot easier on both siblings to walk around freely. However, Seina disliked the thought of her brother being in pain as the price for his power. While enjoying their walk, they spotted a man who had run into another man. It made the two a bit curious, but they silently watched from afar.

Damien shakes his head, he was already starting to feel tired from using his power, "I-I'm sorry, I'm....I'm fine." Why did he have to use so much of his power? His outsider, a banshee, watches from the alley, "Stupid boy." She mutters. Damien stumbles back and puts his hand on the wall.
(is everyone still alive?)

"You don't sound fine. Someone been hasslin you?" The kid, if he was even trying, wasn't doing a very good job at hiding his exhaustion, he'd either been running from someone, as their collision would suggest or he was hiding something. Regardless the best choice in this situation seemed to be to take him down to headquarters, whether for protection or interrogation would become evident later "How about you come with me to Aequalis HQ, relax a bit eh?" Trying to sound as friendly as possible, the last thing he needed was the kid running off in the other direction.

Damien started to nod but suddenly realizes what he's agreeing to, "W-Wait, No, I meant....No." He suddenly blinks rapidly then goes to take off but as he's running he runs into another person. He accidentally crashes into a woman, What is up with me? He thinks to himself as he falls to the ground, he hits his head hard on the ground, it knocks him out. The Banshee around the corner snarled, "What a goof." She remarks under her breath.

The siblings exchanged glances briefly before stepping closer. The boy seemed to be shaken up or tired, similar to Lairen when he used his powers. It was possible he was also like her brother, but it could be something else entirely. (the next bit is assuming the woman is Seina) While in the midst of thinking, the man had run into her, knocking her down as well. Lairen pulled her up quickly, staring down at the knocked out boy.

(It was fully meant for Seina)

Damien's head started to bleed, Holy crap, you manage to do the most outrageous things. He thinks to himself while unconscious, How do you manage to do this?! The Pure will catch up to you and you'll be killed, good for you. Why was his sub-conscious such a sarcastic prick?

(I'll be on tomorrow)

Seina bent down to poke him before touching the part of his head where blood came out of. The sight didn't seem to faze her because of the countless times she's been in fights alongside her brother. She turned to Lairen briefly, asking for permission to patch him up. After all, she couldn't leave him out here. Lairen simply grunted in reply. Seina struggled to even lift his upper body, which forced Lairen to take action and carry him himself. He threw his body over his shoulder and walked off as if everything was normal.

(Hrm.... Xeno, if you don't want this to happen, tell me. I'll change it to the siblings leaving him out. :D )

"Whatcha doin?" Fiona found herself in one of the most interesting situations ever. There was what seemed to be two people kidnapping another one. It was strange since they were doing it in broad daylight too, or rather, out in public. She was just walking around, minding her own business when she saw it happen, and being the responsible citizen she was, she felt it was her duty to investigate. Of course, Adry would advise against it but she just had to do something fun, and she loved to have fun.

Alex strolled straight through the street. He had just gone shopping.

"It's a nice day." He whispered to himself and allowed himself a Coke out of his shopping bag. But then he stumbled and Cola flew in the direction of a small group that had formed on the road. A few were wetted with Cola. "Oh ..." said Alex that did not know what to say.

"Missed~" She sang to herself as what seemed to be some liquid flew past her.

That was extremely close, Fiona, see that you do not need my help when confronting something like that again
Ardamortus huffed from inside her mind. To keep him even in astral form where only she could see him was quite difficult after all, considering his titanic size. When he really wanted to be intimidating, she usually could see nothing but the proud Outsider. I love you too, Ardy~ She thought right back as she ignored the clumsy man. She knew clumsiness, and clumsiness was not fun when it wasn't her being clumsy.

Dammit. Things were just escalating, the kid had run into even more people and they were carrying him off. Approaching the, now growing group from around the man he moved to interrupt the two carrying him off, placing his hand on the man's shoulder "Excuse me sir, may I se-" Being interrupted mid sentence by a wet feeling. He'd been covered in what smell like coke. He was covered in coke and he was wearing a white shirt. Preventing himself from losing his cool in public he continued speaking to the man, "Can I see some proof you know this man?" Gesturing, irritably to the tall man they were carrying.

She could laugh, but that would be inappropriate. No laughing would be a very 'not good' reaction to the scene playing out. The man was fuming, one was knocked out, a woman was staring dumbly, the pair carrying the tall man was slightly wet, she guessed and said nothing. It was a scene from something like a bad comedy. So she honored them with the most appropriate reaction. She guffawed.

Stop that! Ardy demanded, but what she saw was something much too strange to be ignored. Fiona, enough! This is not time to be laughing when the pure search for the ones bound to the Outsiders, in simple terms, you. We must hurry and make our escape. Now. She didn't even stop guffawing to formulate a reply. Are you scared Adry? Aww~ Don't worry, I'll prevail against them. That is the contract is it not?

[im on mobile and I had to rewrite this five times.]

Alecc didnt play when looking like a scrub outside. He had on a clean and highly well taken care of white baseball cap backwards. His hair groomed, his glasses clean. He wore high air jordans, completely cobalt blue. Black hoodie, black leg hugging jeans. You get the ordeal. Suddenly, he was glomped by coca cola. He could smell it. None got on his shoes, his black jeans and hoodie took a hit, and some on his cap. Alecc immediately checked his cap, however, only to be greeted that it was splotched. He gripped it, looking over and seeing some group. Some girl holding some - quoting Alecc's mind 'tall ass guy' by the looks of it. Some other guy who looked older than him who also got the hit, then the culprit. "Hey. Watch yourself!" Alecc hissed at the clumsy male, seeping malicious intent. How annoying! His stomach grumbled, hungry as he forgot his wallet, and now his cap was ruined, gonna be sticky, ugh. 'How pissy.' This cap was from his baseball team in highschool. He was irritated...

Alex turned to the angry guy. "I'm really sorry." He stammered. He turned to his little chaos he had done ... at least he thought so. He did not know what to do and always looked between the guy and the people back and forth. It also made him the most worry whether they would demand compensation ... for he was short of money. But then he noticed the man on the woman's back. "What's going on here anyway?" He asked himself.

(I am completely fine with you two taking me)

(I can't wait for the confusion that will occur with my price)

Damien must've been having either a looney dream or an Out Of Body experience, W-What?! WHY ARE PEOPLE KIDNAPPING ME!? They must be part of The Pure, you should have just shot those two without using your power! Damien tries to speak but all he can get out is, "Ugh....Wh.....Who......" He simply can not talk. The Banshee that's watching him cloaks herself and follows him.

"Oooo~ the big man's talking." Fiona sang as she looked down on him, something she could not have done if he stood at full height. "So, tall man, why are you running from the pure, can't you just kick them on their rear ends?" She giggled at the euphemism she used, no matter how horrible it really sounded. He was one of them, she could tell. They always ran before they realized they could easily take down some few humans limited by nature. She could never get caught because their memory retention was always so 'weak', too easy to manipulate.

Jesus christ, why am I so hard to point out?! The Banshee can not believe what is happening, she thought he knew better than to simply run wherever.

That child is just so... unreasonable! Adramortus roared before a sigh escaped him. I swear sometimes I forget why I allowed a contract between us in the first place. It can just be inconceivable how a little girl could be so, so strong, yet have a preference for the weak. He shuddered at the memory of the first time he actually supported her while she channelled his strength. She twisted the way he viewed the 'weak' for all time. I can hear you, you know, Ardy? Fiona just smiled as she looked at the man, waiting for an answer.

(You do realize my guy is unconscious, right?)

Damien tried to speak once more, "W.....Wh......Ugh" He couldn't really talk at the moment. The Banshee, still cloaked, floats over to him, it pulls him onto the ground. When Damien hits the ground he sits up, holding his arms out, "W-ho are you people?!" He backs up to the street to make sure he can see all of them.

(Not anymore.)

The tall kid seemed to have gotten back to his senses, well sort of, all he was really doing was mumbling. Maybe he'd gotten brain damage or something from the crash, though extremely unlikely it would certainly make his job easier, the way it was looking this kid wasn't going to be an easy fish to reel in.

Hearing one of the bystanders mentioning the Pure his interest was piqued, evidently it was the same person who had found the little coke incident so hilarious. With the way things seemed to be going he wasn't going to get any info just standing around, these goofballs would probably just end up knocking themselves out again. Producing a badge, fashioned in the shape of Aequalis's beloved emblem, he set about to find some answers "Could someone explain to me just what the hell is going on here? First this goofball cannonballs into me and then he's getting kidnapped by some folks who seem to think they can just pick a guy up off the streets and have nobody notice." Speaking to no one in particular, just hoping that one of these nut jobs would know what was going on.
