ALTAIR
Prasiola

August 3rd, Route 203
Interactions: Ramona ( Merciless Medic Merciless Medic ), Ouyi ( Vaudivolt Vaudivolt )
#ff50e7

Altair gently side-eyed as Ramona tried to explain herself, still somewhat poorly, but at least with more detail than before. Based on her behavior so far, with her hesitation to speak, the inability to explain things clearly, and emotional seeming disposition, perhaps whoever evaluated her did have a point. Altair shrugged off that thought, hoping it was just some first impression bias and not the truth, because if it was true, it seems like he might've agreed to something quite troublesome.

"I don't think that's what rangers are there for." Altair replied dryly as Ramona went on a spiel about what rangers were, being strangely defensive about it in the process. "Most of the ones I've encountered barely even mention their, uh, disc thing. But I've never had any in-depth relations with any rangers either, I'm not even that sure what those disk things even do." He calmly added, trying to assure Ramona that he doesn't hold the ideas that she seems to assume he does.

"Running the gym circuit to work on that?" He raised an eyebrow when Ramon mentioned that it seems like her supervisors believe that doing a gym circuit can help her work on speaking with people and Pokemon. Pokemon, perhaps there was a point, gym battles did require a level of cooperation between trainer and Pokemon after all, the people skills part was a bit more questionable.

"Are you sure that would work? I was an asshole teenager when I went through my first gym circuit, and I came out of it still an asshole teenager, just more cyberbullied." Altair crossed his arms and leaned back, but in a more relaxed fashion than his conversation partner.

Though before he could express more doubt, Ramona seems to take more interest in the smell of a small campfire in the distance. She dashed off before Altair could question her more. "I think it's probably just-" But the girl seems to be already gone. Altair sighed and flicked his wrist, hurling out a few Pokeballs that returned the group of Pokemon he had sitting around the clearing, with only Togedemaru, one of his faster Pokemon running after Ramona at adequate speed.

The source of the smell was indeed a travel, a trainer who seems to have set up camp and was cooking a meal along with... three poison type Pokemon. Altair wasn't scared of poison types on the account of almost all of his Pokemon being immune to poison types in the first place, but it was still strange to have them so closely proximate to food. Perhaps this trainer is quite confident in himself and his Pokemon.

"First of all, we're not friends. I've known you for less than an hour." The white-haired trainer said in a defeated tone, as he stepped out of the foliage after Ramona, glancing at her and giving a small apologetic nod to the man running the camp. "Second of all, rude." The young man side-eyed the fumbling trainer and muttered, he then looked at the man who was just preparing his meal.

"Well...how awkward." He sighed. Route 203 is known for milder Pokemon and beginner trainers, so he hoped that whoever set up shop here would be on the friendlier side. "Uhh......Hello. My name is Altair...and I am just...a trainer doing a bit of training in this area." Altair explained, in perhaps the flattest voice possible, trying to alleviate Ramona's explosive comments. He hoped this guy hadn't felt his literal explosions beforehand. "And this is..." He nudged Ramona slightly and glanced at her, hoping she would take a hint.

Line_Cook_Brian.pngOuyi hid away his disapproval of the situation as he made room on the stump for his pan. The people passing by held no obligation to join him uninvited after all. Still, despite making light of it in front of his Pokemon, Ouyi really disliked wasting good food. “This would be a good time to show hidden Ice moves. Salandit, Trubbish, Varoom? No?” Ouyi jokingly asked, a forced smile on his lips. He missed that old fridge at times like these. “We should look to make an Ice-Type friend...

Do Bug- or Poison-Type Pokemon know Ice moves..?” Ouyi wondered quietly. He gazed back in the direction of the cave mouth. The trees in the area did their best to block the view of the mountain range, but it was still there. “Do you remember that cafe near Hearthome Pokemon Center?” He looked down at his Pokemon. All gathered around the stump for their meal. “They had this... Coronet Coffee? The iced coffee with the Never-Melt in it..? I think it came from those mountains... Should we turn back and look for a path--

Ouyi stopped pondering when he was interrupted by a girl approaching him during her jog along the path. His smile became more genuine when she appeared to have a solution for his overabundance of food. “I was-- no need to apologize,” he corrected her mid-sentence while calmly gesturing 'stop' with his hands, “to you, it sounds too much, but I made this to share.” He could not help but wonder where this 'friend' of hers was, though. Ouyi looked around, and when he was about to ask the question, a white-haired young man announced they were not friends. To which Ouyi smiled. “Not friends yet!” He pointed out while gesturing with a raised index finger. “What is not yet can come to be. She thinks you are her friend, and you follow after her. Please, there is enough food and reason to join for a meal.

Ouyi turned toward his pan, using the deep ladle he had been cooking with to portion the food. Then, Altair introduced himself. And doing so made Ouyi realize he had not done so himself. “Of course, hello!” He quickly responded, holding out the hand that held the ladle for the young man to shake. He noticed and awkwardly laughed it off as he placed the ladle in his pan and offered his hand again. I am... The words echoed through his head. He was away from home now. He did not have to do this.., but it was easier this way. “I am Brian. I became a trainer for the Lily of the Valley Conference.” He replied, and his smiling eyes turned to the girl as he patiently waited for her to share.

Altair's earlier words about their previous conversation had left Ramona extremely confused. What is a ranger if they weren't there to help people? They were seen as heroes in Almia. Then again, given his explanation, he's never seen a ranger who wasn't just chilling around and relaxing or patrolling an area.

His uncertainty about going through the gym circuit also left a rather sour taste in Ramona's mouth. She was doing this to understand her Pokemon more and get them strong enough so that they can handle stronger threats. Sure, she did say to her superiors that it would help her learn the things she needed to, and they agreed with her. Just what other things did her superior thought the journey would do for her? Mature her? Pff, that'll happen when it happens, she's not too fussed on it.

Just because Altair didn't change didn't mean she couldn't.

As Ramona had approached the traveling chef and he told her she didn't need to apologize, she realized just how peckish she was. Altair coming in only gave her slight whiplash from Brian's sweetness to Altair's sudden chiding. She pouted and scowled, huffing as Altair called her rude. What did she do? She was trying to be as friendly as possible, even though she was starving.

It wasn't awkward until Altair said it was though, leaving her skin prickly. When nudged to introduce herself, she smiled awkwardly. "Ah, right, I'm Ramona. A student ranger in training."

Her Charcadet sighed, puffing out some light smoke as he shook his head.

At least Brian seemed super friendly, which helped calm her nerves a little. Upon hearing he was here for the Conference, she got excited. "Oh oh, so am I." She grinned. "And the uh... contest version of that." She stumbled over, forgetting what it was even called. Wait, did it even have a name?

She looked over his three Pokemon, noticing their varying different personalities. Varoom she recognized instantly, but the Trubbish and Salandit were ones that took her a minute to recognize. "So, I see you want to be a Poison-Type trainer? Or are you looking for a more generalized approach?"

As she asked, Cabadura pushed her calf, wanting her to go into the area so they were off the road. With a nervous glance at her Charcadet, she slowly walked her way closer, careful to not startle any of the Pokemon Brian had.

"Huh? Is that so." Altair muttered as the stranger seemed rather friendly. "You like to feed the local Pokemon?" He asked casually. Although it wasn't uncommon for traveling trainers to spend some time together and share food in the wild, it seemed rather preemptive to make food for multiple people without even knowing whether there are other trainers in the area or not. Route 203 was also a popular destination for newer trainers though, with the big cities around it and the milder climate, so perhaps this person just knew Sinnoh quite well.

The cooking trainer introduced himself as Brian, while Ramona did take the hint and also spoke up. It seemed like both of them were planning on participating in the Sinnoh gym circuit and conference, Altair leaned back against a tree, feeling like he had little to no input about that. His Togedemaru jumped off of the trainer's shoulder and rolled closer to Brian's Pokemon, being quite unfazed of their poisonous nature due to its immunity. "Though if that's how she treats her friends, I'm worried about how she treats strangers," Altair replied stoically after Brian's comment about the two's relationship. "... Especially if they're less... accommodating than yourself." He added glumly.

"I agreed to give her some battling tips for the gym circuit thing, that's all. We'll have to see about the friends thing." Although he was pretty aware that he was being unfriendly, but he felt like the girl was the type of person that you really needed to set boundaries with. Based on the comments and actions she made so far. "I don't have much to do nowadays...been through my share of gym battles already, I'm not really up for anything like that...not anymore, for now." He sighed again, while staring at his Togedemaru that was rolling around the clearing.

In Oreburgh City Aldon accidentally found himself stumbling. As he did so, Skol, lagged behind at a leisurely pace, occasionally stopping to munch on a blade of grass or stare blankly into space.

As Aldon and Skol stroll through Oreburgh City, the steel-gray hues of the industrial town greeted them. Towering stone cliffs frame the horizon, their massive forms casting long shadows over the city. The air is thick with the earthy scent of quarried rock and the sharp tang of iron from the machines that chisel away at the mountain's heart.

The rumbling drone of drills and the clanging symphony of metal against stone echo through the stillness, punctuated by the occasional muffled boom as another load of ore is blasted loose from the mines.

Amidst the bustling factory district, you see workers clad in gritty overalls pausing for a smoke, their weathered faces etched with grime from a day's labor. Neon signs flicker to life as dusk falls, casting eerie reflections on the slick pavement. Aldon had his work gloves on ready to search for fossils.

Aldon headed in the dark familiar underbelly. Caves, mines and holes and digging were his bread and butter. That and collecting loot and uncovering history. Archeology was his specialty and there felt like a slim chance of finding any ruins of human civilization but he was optimistic and willing to look. If nothing, he might get lucky and leave with a fossil, and he did have an appreciation for paleontology. Even those odds felt slim the way Roark had his boys scouring the caves, but new areas were as always opening up and potential to find new places ripe for the searching.

With a fire in his belly, determination in his eye and a grip as solid as the pickaxe he was ready. Of course, his faithful pink slow moving psychic best friend was behind him ready at a moments notice. As Aldon headed into the newer sections, no luck would strike yet but inevitably would soon find something. hopefully not as n everstone or a random shard he didn't need.

"Slo..." Skol tap tap tapped Aldon.

"Just keep on looking, Skol." Skol was trying to get Aldon's attention to no immediate avail. the slowpoke persisted until Aldon had no choice but to look.

"Okay, Skol, now what is it? What do you wa-... want..." Aldon's eyes widened in surprise as he got a good look at it...

As Aldon had found himself going further and further into the oreburgh city mine, it seemed Skol noticed something truly eye catching. A small crack big enough for a person to crawl through. It looked natural. possibly from the earth shifting. it didn't look like it was caused by a pokémon Aldon was familiar with. He started crawling inside the hole with Skol behind him as the duo wiggled through. dirt in the air forcing Aldon to shield his eyes, but as the duo reached an opening, it lead to a cavernous area.

with dusty rocks pokémon claw marks on rough-hewn tunnels with occasional light flickers. water drips echoing in the distance along stale damp air hanging heavily in the hallowed walls with a musty mixture of metallic undertones from the ore. Aldon looked around with Skol at his side as he went further in the sound of the dirt falling from the cavern rough and as he continues he occasionally finds places to dig. he gets lucky and manages to find... A thunder stone! As he went further he managed to find... a moon stone! And a blue shard, but no fossils which was mildly infuriating because he wanted a fossil. a fossil is what he wanted, and the thing he did not get.

"You know, Skol? It would be very nice if I could have a fossil and I really want a fossil and I know I should have a fossil because I dig and I keep digging and what do I get? hmmm?" Aldon looked at Skol whom was not paying attention nor did the slowpoke care one big in the slightest, and just yawned at Aldon, which caused Aldon to yawn.

"You know what? Good point. Let's appreciate what we got." Aldon responded before casually putting his stuff in his bag with a satisfied grin and ready to go further and Aldon spotted something really special. An underground lake glowing brightly. Water pokémon. upon closer inspection there were chinchou and even a lanturn. Aldon sat there feeding chunks of berries he tossed in the water. He watches them swim about as he sat there at the waters edge with his toes in the cool water and Skol of course attempting to fish dangling his tail into the water. Aldon can't help but feel the mildly electric feeling through the water and continued enjoying a brief break.

"Skol, it might be nice to set up camp down here for the night..." Aldon thumped his fingers against Skol's back as he contemplated this decision.
