Well, I get my drawing journal back tonight. I can do that.Oh, if that's the case, I can help with that.

XD if you want to. I think I'm done making ArcApril art, myself. At least until the next event.Well, I get my drawing journal back tonight. I can do that.
Not well, but I can.
That's fair. I don't know if I will, I still suck at drawing, but it's good practice. I have other ideas to draw, so I might do those. Or I might draw a scene from the non-canon short I'm maybe gonna write.XD if you want to. I think I'm done making ArcApril art, myself. At least until the next event.
Speaking of, what's that short gonna be about? Are all the characters gonna be in it?That's fair. I don't know if I will, I still suck at drawing, but it's good practice. I have other ideas to draw, so I might do those. Or I might draw a scene from the non-canon short I'm maybe gonna write.
Not all the characters, no. At least, not all characters will feature prominently. And I'm not sure if I should spoil what it's gonna be about. I'll say this much though, Arcanus and April do have an important part.Speaking of, what's that short gonna be about? Are all the characters gonna be in it?
Ooh, cool. Well, if you do end up making it, I'll look forward to it.Not all the characters, no. At least, not all characters will feature prominently. And I'm not sure if I should spoil what it's gonna be about. I'll say this much though, Arcanus and April do have an important part.
Thanks!Ooh, cool. Well, if you do end up making it, I'll look forward to it.
Haha, trust me, that's a problem for almost everyone. It takes so much painstaking effort to actually get your imagination onto the paper. Along with an absurd amount of trial and error. It's a little ridiculous, actually. For me, it has been, at least. I really don't think I was one of those special snowflakes that was born good at art. Thanks!
On a somewhat irrelevant topic, drawing is an enigma for me. I can always picture perfectly and well done what I want to draw in my head, and something somehow just gets lost in translation. I never know how (this is why my specialty is writing, not drawing.)
It's even worse because my dad and sister are amazing at art and I'm over here like "I've been trying for years and I'm just getting beyond stick figures"Haha, trust me, that's a problem for almost everyone. Haha, it takes a lot of time and patience, as well as dedication. I'm as good as I am because I focus a lot more of my energy on art, and less on other things such as writing or something like that. It's been my #1 hobby since I can literally first remember. And I still got plenty of room to improve. It's even worse because my dad and sister are amazing at art and I'm over here like "I've been trying for years and I'm just getting beyond stick figures"
I mean, I'm slowly getting better. Comparing my April/Arcanus and Max/Emlas drawings to my work when I first started, there's a pretty noticeable difference... I think... I hope.XD That's a really blunt and true quote.
Oh, of course. Even if you're just doodling, and even if you can't see any improvement, you are always improving when you draw. It doesn't really matter what you draw or when, or even how good the drawing is.I mean, I'm slowly getting better. Uhhh.. Lemme see if I can find some of your drawings, lol. I'll take another look and see what I come up with~Hey, you've seen my drawings before. Do you happen to remember any tips? I suck at drawing but I'd REALLY like to get good at it, and most people I've asked haven't been super helpful
Haha, thanks. That's exactly what I wanted. The closest I ever got to criticism was one of my friends laughing at Arcanus and going "HE'S SO BLOCKY!" In a very loud voice whilst laughing.Okay.
Time to get really carried away, probably more than you wanted. XD
Sorry in advance. Forgive mee... ;A;
April and Arcanus:
Hmm.. Well, the anatomy on Arc is a little bit off. I think the body is definitely too long and rectangular. This can be fixed, of course, by studying anatomy in reference pictures.
Another thing that is important to understand is that shoulders are almost never completely horizontal. It's important to have them 'slump' a little bit, for a more realistic figure. I figured that out the hard way.
I suggest looking at a few more reference pictures, maybe practicing directly off of the pose in a picture before expanding outwards to make your own poses. Anatomy is probably one of the hardest things to learn.
April is a bit better. The only thing I'd say for her is that the wing is a little bit too long, and wings don't quite bend like that. Like arms, there is a shoulder, upper arm, elbow, and forearm.
I have to say though, you did very well on the face. Especially the shape of the beak, the eye, and the black stripe coming down from it.
Only thing else I have to say is that the lines are a little rigid. Maybe try smoothing the edges out a little bit, as the feathers sprouting from Aprils' head would benefit from having a bit more curvature.
Max and Emlas:
The head for Max is oddly shaped.. But I do see the style you're going for, there. Perhaps make sure the nose doesn't come to such a sharp point, and make sure the forehead doesn't stick outwards at all. And the eye could be a tad lower, as well.
Also, after way too long of making really wacky-looking arms, I figured out that every time you make an arm, you have to make sure that the elbow is in the right place. It's easy to overlook, but does a lot of damage to the overall piece if you get it wrong.
The upper legs are really good, actually. You accomplished that 'poof', lol. Just be a little bit more careful on the lower legs.
Emlas is actually pretty good. I respect that you can do that well from a front view. Front views of things like that can be deceiving and challenging.
That being said, there are one or two things I managed to spot after a little bit. The face kind of looks like its' melting onto the neck. Which can be fixed easily, once you notice it.
And the forearms could be bigger. But.. I think that's all I got for her.
Oh, I just like that at where the upper legs start are almost skinny while when they get more towards the knees, they get thicker, and end in a nice, rounded poof. I actually really like that, it compliments the style you have in your picture.I'm curious, what do you mean I got the "poof?" I mean, I'm happy I did it, I just... don't know what I did.
Hmm... Well, you know how in virtually any paint tool, you have a select tool? Just imagine selecting the facial features of Emlas' face, taking the bottom, and dragging it upwards a little bit. Pretty much smushing Emlas' face and moving it upwards. I wonder if I could actually make an illustration of that to help... Would that be okay?As for Emlas's head, I see what you mean, but I'm not sure quite how to fix it.
