Sami liked Castaway Town. She liked the location, a nice beach with a great view of the ocean. She liked the people, though she didn't know them very well. She even liked the ramshackle appearance, finding it rather quaint, for lack of a better word.

That's why she was quite miffed that an Alpha Gyarados was attacking it. Well, miffed was perhaps a rather light word for it. Angered was more like it. And perhaps just a smidge scared. But only a smidge.

Standing in the doorway of her shop watching the thing attack, she decided that enough was enough. She refused to be a bystander in this. This town was her new home for Arceus knows how long and she wasn't about to let it be destroyed.

She stepped out of the doorway and into the open. She took a Pokeball off of her belt and tossed it in the air. Out came a Leavanny who did a pirouette in midair before landing on the ground in a graceful pose. Sami approached her Pokemon.

"Levi, dear, I'm sorry to call you out like this but we need your help." She said calmly. She pointed to the Gyarados. "Could you perhaps use Leaf Blade on that Gyarados, please?"

Levi nodded. "Vanny."

Levi charged forwards and leaped up into the air. Her arms glowed green and she slashed at the Gyarados before flipping backwards and landing gracefully in front of Sami. The Gyarados had no reaction to this.

"What?" Sami shouted, shocked. "That should have been super effective!"

Kalos O’Neil, better known simply as Kei, had adjusted about as well as one could expect to suddenly being transported back in time to the Hisuian ages. For one, many of the commodities he’d been spoiled with such as indoor plumbing, technology, and clean water weren’t exactly as easy to come by anymore as well as the knowledge that all of his friends and family didn’t exist and wouldn’t exist for hundreds of years was certainly a lot to take in. But, Kei was always a glass full sort of person so he tried to look on the brighter side of things. For one, he had his own house which was pretty neat, granted it was a shabby hut but nevertheless that was pretty neat. Two, he now had ample opportunity to train his three little Pokémon as the harsh environment was perfect for building endurance. Three, the other people who also had the misfortune of landing in old Sinnoh seemed to be okay guys, granted Kei hadn’t talked to them much considering he’d been too focused on not dying up to that point but who knows, maybe he could make a few new friends. Now, those facts may seem wholly unrelated to one another but as Kei stared at his new neighbor’s own home being teased apart by the largest Gyarados he’d ever seen, the boy found it quite easy to connect those couple of dots together.

Glancing up at the gigantic beast, Kei turned back to his three Pokémon, Cindy the Bonsly, Steve the Pichu, and Dian the Riolu. The boy cleared his throat, before addressing them all with an air of confidence.

“Alright, we’ve trained long and hard for this day to finally come. I know it might be scary and difficult but I’m sure that if we play are cards right we’ll be able to get rid of that Gyarados. I believe in all of you! Now…” Kei raised a fist to the air and he bellowed. “Who’s ready to kick some water type butt!?”

“B-Bonsly?”
Cindy’s eyes widened at the mere mention of water. She may have not known many human words, but that was one which tore fear into her very core. Immediately tears began to fall from her eyes as she began running around in circles, panic clear on her face. BonslyBonslyBonslyBonsly!”

“Right…weak to water. But Gyarados is also weak to rock so it should be fine-“

“Bonsly!”

“Alright, alright! Head back to the hut then, ‘kay?”

Without out even looking back at her trainer Bonsly darted to the aforementioned location, slamming the door shut.

“Now then, Steve, Dian, you ready!?”

The latter of the Pokémon simply rolled her eyes, as Kei quickly realized he’d made a mistake once more. “Oh yeah…. it’s also resistant to fighting isn’t it?” With a sigh he simply gestured for Dian to leave, to which she’d do without a second thought, joining Cindy back in the shack. And thus, all the Pokémon he had left at his disposal was his trusty Steve. Thankfully the little Pichu gave an eager nod as static danced across his cheeks, already in a pouncing position. “At least I still got you. Alrighty then, start with a thunder shock and we’ll see how things go from there. One…two….three….go!!”

As awful of a plan as it was, Kei and his Pichu nevertheless charged at the raging monster without even the slightest amount of fear weighing them down. As they ran across the sandy beach Steve would hop onto Kei, climbing up his body for some extra height before pouncing off Kei and into the air. Electricity quickly began to collect within his cheeks. Finally once the Pichu could contain it no longer, the Pokémon let loose a crackling bolt of electricity in the Gyarados’ direction, sending sand up into the air. Not even coming to a stop to see if the move had worked Kei continued to charge at the beast, snatching up a piece of driftwood up from the ground and using it to deliver a hard smack across the Gyarados’ scaly face. But as the dust finally settled, Kei realized that the Pokémon had been the slightest bit effected by either his Pichu’s Thunder Shock nor Kei’s stick attack. In fact, it just looked more angrier than anything. Realizing his mistake, Kei slowly hid the wood behind his back as he nervously smiled, taking in the giant monster’s razor sharp teeth and eyes filled with bloodlust. He had screwed up, really screwed up, hadn’t he? Well, Kei had lived a long life, hopefully Dian and Cindy would hold a nice funeral for him and Steve. He could already imagine the gravestone. ‘Kei O’Neil, gone too soon due to his own idiocy’.

Athena Lavigne
Location: Castaway Town

Athena sat in the comfort of her rickety wooden hut. She hadn't gone outside much other than to collect essential resources for her own survival. Though she cared deeply about the creatures that inhabited her old world, she began to almost feel frightened at the hostility of the creatures in this new world. Something was unusual about them... Different... She had never been attacked by Pokemon back home, they were friendly. But here they seemed constantly aggravated for some unknown reason.

Graaahh

As a result, she'd taken refuge in an old fishing house ways away from the other inhabitants. She couldn't risk hurting herself, or worse, hurting Sunny, her spoiled newly evolved Rapidash she'd known almost her entire life. Though her neighbors didn't seem hostile, she didn't know exactly what to make of her situation. What was the meaning of all of this? Why were they all there? Could this all just be some sort of dream?

She pinched herself, wondering if perhaps it would wake her up, closing her eyes tightly and counting to three.

"1... 2... 3..."

Graaahh!!
She opened her eyes. Nope, she was definitely still here. In the warm, humid, yet oddly familiar setting she'd been transported to. She let out a sigh and began to recount the events leading up to then. She remembered leaving home that fateful night. The snow was thick, yet the air was clear...

BOOM! Graaahh!!

A loud crash interrupted the solace of her mind, the refuge she often retreated to when things went bad. Athena had a bad habit of secluding herself from the world when things got rough-- a habit she'd long been trying to break. That's why instead of distancing herself from the world, she decided to expose herself head first and begin volunteering at the Pokemon Center at Snowpoint City.

Athena hurriedly lifted herself up off of the floor and opened the wooden door. She flinched a little as it came flying off its rusty hinges.

"Er... That's okay! I'll fix that later"

In the distance she saw figures. Athena stood at a significant distance from the monstrous beast that towered over the coastline of the beach. She knew better than to get anywhere near it. It was much bigger than any Pokemon she'd ever seen before in person. A dynamax Pokemon, perhaps? No, she'd only heard about that on television and from her brothers. This was different. It wasn't nearly as big as that, but it was hostile. It roared loudly, threatened not only the Pokemon that dwarfed in front of it, but the people that also stood before it, attempting to take it down.

She felt nervous. Paralyzed in her thick boots that contrasted sharply with the beach-like environment. She didn't know how to react. Though she faintly saw as a spark of electricity hit the beast, to the effect of nothing more than a slight tickle.

"No, this isn't good... They'll get hurt if they keep going at it like this"
Almost as if on cue, she saw as a figure rushed toward the beast themselves with what appeared to be a piece of wood, or something of the sort. Athena's eyes shot open. Could they be attempting to attack the Pokemon... Themselves? Suddenly, she found herself running toward the action, though involuntary. Her mind advised her against it, but her body knew better, she knew she had to do something.

"Stop!!! Don't do it! Please!"
Athena knew nobody could hear her, but she shouted anyway. She hoped that someway, somehow, they would get a hint, that it would find a way into their subconscious and they'd hear her. Though despite her best efforts, she witnessed as the figure charged head first with the piece of driftwood, striking it themselves. She looked away, unsure if she was afraid for the bold attacker, or for the safety of the large Gyarados. When she looked over, she noticed it had no effect. She breathed a sigh of relief, until the Gyarados dove down and bit into the attacker.

She gasped. She couldn't believe what she saw. Had the Gyarados really just bit that person? Are they okay? What do we do now? What--

Athena's mind raced. She was unsure how to feel, but she ran in and dragged the attacker out of harm's way, coming just feet away from the raging Gyarados. She dragged the attacker away from the shore, and further inland.

"Are you alright? Where are you hurt?" she asked the stranger.
Athena trembled violently as she looked down at the attacker. She'd seen him a few times before, but not this close. He didn't look like he belonged here, either. She knew she had a bag full of remedies, but all of that vanished in her mind. It all felt like a blur-- like snapshots of a fever dream; vertigo. She looked back over to the Gyarados, seeing the loose Pokemon attempting to continue the frey their trainer had sent them out to.

"Pokemon", she said. "Are... Pokemon?"
She took a deep breath. She could feel her heart jumping out of her chest and she knew she was spouting nothing but nonsense as the adrenaline rushed through her body.

"Are those your Pokemon out there?"

She sat serenely on a log as the place was destroyed, she wasn't particularly fond of the place, she didn't care if it was destroyed, no. She didn't care one bit, at least that was what she told herself. She eyed how the others floundered, she snorted, breaking down in laughter as they failed to subdue the monster, bah, she swore that in the time they'd been at this place you could hardly call a town, "Orca my dear, im afraid we are doomeeedddd." "Umbre?" She looked at him with his puppy dog expression, "No im not serious." She facepalmed at his innocence, he always had that look on his face when asking, 'are you okay?' Pfft, but she had been stuck with the thing this long and while she was hesitant to admit it, she loved her Pokemon dearly.

She didn't want to help the misfit group of people she had ended up with just yet but they were loud and she had her fun. She took Orcas face into her palms, his small scruff of fur soft against her hands, "Now you big lump, here's what you're gonna do. You're gonna run really fast and use yawn on that big guy, go on shoo!" Orca ran off calling to her nervously, "You're fine, don't worry!"

She took out a Pokeball, throwing it up into the air, her honedge popped out, "You know what's going on! Wide Gaurd. Be quick about protecting everyone, we have to last until yawn takes effect."

As her Pokemon rushed out she jogged towards the others, shouting loudly at them, "We just have to last it out now! Orcas going in for a yawn! Night Night time!" She snickered before adding on in a more reassuring voice, "We'll be fine and dandy, promise."

Sami watched in horror as the Gyarados bit down on Kei. She had never seen a Pokemon actually injure a human before. Even here in Hisui, where she had been attacked by Pokemon before she'd never been injured. Of course, that was due to Levi, Princess, and Espy's assistance. It's entirely possible that she could have ended up injured if they weren't able to handle it.

Nevertheless, she and Levi ran over to Kei's side almost immediately. She arrived at the same time as another person, another Castaway she recognized as Athena though she didn't know much about her. That wasn't really important right now. Kei looked real messed up.

"Is there anything we can do to help?" She asked Athena.

Suddenly, the Gyarados reared up again. It aimed to bite down on them but before it could get there a barrier of hexagons sprung up around them. The Gyarados' mouth slammed into the barrier but had zero affect.

Confused, Sami glanced around for the source of the barrier and saw a Honedge using the move. Jogging alongside it was a woman, Meka was her name if Sami recalled correctly. She was a cold one, claimed not to care.

"We just have to last it out now! Orcas going in for a yawn! Night Night time!" Meka called. Then she changed to a more measured voice. "We'll be fine and dandy, promise."

"I knew you cared, darling." Sami called back, blowing a thank you kiss at her.

An Umbreon, Orca presumably, used Yawn, Zs emanating from it and hitting the Gyarados (Sami took a moment to wonder why the move used Zs since it probably predated the modern alphabet). The Gyarados began to sway. Then, it fell.

"Time to move, I think." Sami shouted at Athena. She grabbed Kei and began dragging him away from the falling Gyarados, Levi running alongside her. They just barely got clear before the Gyarados collapsed.

Meka whistled loudly at her Pokemon getting their attention, "Clear everyone out! We're moving hurry up!" She turned back to her compatriots, her order making her Pokemon work faster.

"I knew you cared, darling." Someone who she hardly recalled the name of, Sami was it, called out, blowing a kiss at Meka.

She wants deeply red in the face almost immediately, pushing back against that thought, albeit lacking any of her usual gusto or bite, "I don't. You're all just annoying when you're freaking out. Don't think much of it... It won't happen again." It would happen again.

She cursed at the sight of the wound, she looked to the group, "Do any of you have cloth? We need to stop the blood flow, mighta hit an artery. Any strip is fine we just have to tie it up before the bite, tight enough he blood slows, he's already lost too much." Meka was biting her lip, a nervous look on her soft face.

The day had started out like any other. He had woken up, gone through his morning routine, went to school, and then to work. Somewhere along the way between work and home he, and others he came to find out, had been sent in to the past via a mysterious portal in time. It was almost so hard to believe he had come right back around to believing it again. There had to be a reason he and the others were sent in to the past. If that's where they really were. Maybe they had been flung so far in to the future a new wold had been born, and they were in it's most advanced stages of technology. None of this was making any sense to him. And if anyone claimed it made sense to them, he'd call them out on their Tauroshit.

His dwelling, like a lot of the other's, was about as ramshackle as they come. It kept the weather out, but did a poor job of keeping the warmth in. And he dare not light a fire inside it, for fear it would burn to the ground with him still inside. Speaking of inside, that's exactly where he could be found. Sitting on the ground with a pile of apricots at his side. How he loved apricots. They were the most versatile berry he had ever encountered. Hungry? There were a half dozen ways to cook them. Bored? There were ways to make them in to simple toys. Low on supplies? Apricots were the key ingredient in making poke-balls by hand. A little twist here, a little finagling there, and voila! A poke-ball fit for capturing! Setting the newly constructed ball down next to the others Zeke would flex his free hand, rubbing the back of it. It wasn't a hard thing to do, but as any warm blooded male could tell you enough repetitive motion of any sort began to hurt the joints. He had crafted 10 or so poke-balls from the apricots he had found on the ground since washing up on the beach, and had plans on passing them out as gifts to the others as a show of good faith.

The commotion outside finally caught his attention, Zeke standing with a stretch. “What in the seven hells is going on out there?” he would mutter to himself, scooping up the poke-balls in his arms and plopping them in to a torn up sheet of cloth to make them easier to carry. As soon as he exited the ramshackle building and saw the Gyarados he froze, immediately going back to that day. Or I guess going forward to that day? Time travel was weird. Swallowing hard he would reach for his belt and toss his Wartortle's ball to the ground, the Wartortle seeing first Zeke then the Gyarados, moving in between his trainer and the wild pokemon in a protective stance. After a second Zeke realized the others seemed to already have the situation under control, and the Gyarados was actually (potentially) on the ground fast asleep. It almost pained him to walk forward but he did, one hesitant step at a time. Then another. And another. Until he was almost next to the group. “Um...I um....made these for everyone someone please take one and catch that thing before it wakes back up.” he held the poke-balls out for the others. He knew he needed to get over this thing with Gyarados, that not all of them were the same, but it was hard to think like that when there was a huge one, huger than any he had ever seen, laying just a few feet away. Looking away when a cloth was asked for Zeke would quickly tumble the balls over to one arm, dropping a few in the process, offering the cloth to Meka.

One moment he stood facing down the widening mouth of Gyarados, the very next, he was on the ground, a girl around his age looking down at him and thankfully far from the Gyarados. Had she saved him? Kei stared at the girl as her mouth moved, the sound of his ears ringing drowning out her words. Finally the ringing subsided as he caught the very end of her question. “Pokémon…?” Kei craned his neck over back towards the Gyarados, where if he squinted just enough, he’d be able to make out the small electric mouse darting around the beast. Thankfully it seemed Steve’s small size made it rather easy for him to dodge the creatures attacks. In the middle of the chaos the Pichu finally noticed Kei and made a beeline for his trainer, calling out. “Pi!” The worry in his voice obvious.

Just as the Pokémon was able to make it over to Kei, more people began to make there way over to him. A silver haired lady who was the owner of the house, a red and black haired trainer who’d owned the umbreon, and the young man with the wartortle. He’d be able to see the black haired trainer impressively put the beast to sleep while the young man held out a bunch of Pokéballs to the rest of the group. Kei would go to prop himself up so he could actually look up at the others, as he could only glance at them just barely from where he was lying. It was nice of them all to check on Kei but was it really all that necessary was it? it wasn’t like he was-

A hot flash of pain forced him back on the ground as his faced scrunched up. Forcing himself to peel his eyelids open Kei finally caught a glimpse of the state of himself. His jacket dyed an ugly shade of crimson from what he could only assume to be his own blood. He stared blankly at it, the fogginess finally beginning to wane as reality hit him harder than a truck.

“Oh”

He’d messed up, badly.

She yanked the cloth from the newcomer's hands, cursing as her hands bloodied, she checked over the wound, a solid bite mark. Tracing the teeth until she could find the highest one upon his arm, she gently slid the cloth around his arm before tightening it, "I'm not strong enough to tie this thing, someone f***ing help me." Her voice was stressed but she was doing her best to keep a straight and calm face.

She almost looked as if she was going to cry, "We need to wash off his arm with clean water, whoever has a Pokemon with a water move, use it as soon as we're done with this!" She cursed again, looking at the small, stupid and hurt boy, what was he thinking? He should have left it to the adults. He should have let her handle it before he went off running into danger, but that was the woes of living with idiots.

"One of you is good with needles right? He needs stitches. Fast as you can manage without f***ing it up." She started to tie the makeshift tournaquet. She looked to the kid, "This'll hurt like shit." She grinned and turned to her Pokemon, "Orca! Gimme a yawn please! He'll need it!" He turned to him, "You don't want to feel the needles so sleep like a good little boy." Her teeth ground as she looked at him.

Sami nodded when Meka mentioned stitches. "I can take care of it. I've never done it before but it can't be that different from sewing." She reached into he bag and grabbed a spare set of needles. Her sewing kit was back in her shop/house but she always had some needles on her. She glanced at Levi. "String please, Levi dear."

"Leavanny." Levi said. She sprayed some silk from her mouth which piled into Sami's hands. Admittedly, it was a little gross and probably not the most sanitary thing but they were on a tight schedule. Besides, if people could wear clothes made of the stuff then it had to be okay enough to be used as stitches.

Sami threaded the string into a needle she judged the appropriate size.

"I can't promise this is sterilized." She said. "But we don't have many other options."

Once the wound was clean and Kei was asleep Sami began her work. It took a bit of mental effort to force herself to intentionally puncture Kei's skin and, were he not in desperate trouble, Sami doubted she could have managed it. But she did manage it. She stitched together the wounds as best she could, ending by tying off a knot and having Levi carefully cut the remaining string not used.

Meka groaned as she tied a knot around his arms grabbing a stick for nearby to use as a lever to make the cloth tighter, only stopping when the blood flow had stopped considerably, "W-we need to wash off his arm and then put some bandages on it, and... a splint too. Just in case he's broken anything." She was panting heavily, tired from the stress, "Someone catch that damn Pokemon... please."

She stood up, her face twisted into annoyance, and stomped away, they could figure it out, she had given instructions and help she could leave, she practically ran into the forest. Panting once she was far enough away that she couldn't see the others, she shoved her face into her hands, all this, it was all too much for her, the blood was still on her hands, and now on her face, she couldn't stand seeing someone else like that.

She had to leave them, she had to calm down, she had to not cry like a damn baby. She sucked in a breath and violently hit her head on a nearby tree to calm herself down, "Shut up Meka, don't let the brain do the brain thing." She crumpled onto her knees, too exhausted to get back up.

Athena stood paralyzed at the sight of the stranger. Although she had experience healing Pokemon, she couldn't do much in the realm of real people. All she could do was commentate on what was happening, although she felt lightheaded and faint. It all felt like a terrible dream.

"I'm sorry", Athena said. "I-I should be the one helping, but I can't..."

Suddenly Athena remembered how she could help in her own way. She opened up her messenger bag to reveal a warm blanket that had managed to tag along with her from back home. She outstretched it over Kei.

"I know this isn't much, but I suppose it'll keep him comfortable for now," she said, taking care to place it over his body and tuck it in nicely.

Athena looked over at the direction of the sleeping Gyarados-- a man stood in the way holding Pokeballs out. He suggested they catch him before he causes any more trouble.

Athena looked over at Zeke. "Are you saying we should... Catch him?", "I don't think that'd be a good idea, if we fail, it'd most likely make him angrier," "After all, it's us who are trespassing in his home...", she added. Then she looked back down at Kei-- the Pichu looking at his injured trainer with concern. She squated down, her face written with concern as she carefully grasped the small creature with her soft mittens.

"Are you hurt...?" she asked the Pichu. She took out a potion from her bag and gave it to the Pichu, taking sure to nurse it while his trainer himself healed from his wounds.

Meka stared at the blood on her hands, still fresh and wet, and it smelled so metallic. She had seen blood and wound like this before, even on herself but every time it bothered her, she still held it starkly in her mind, vivid and disturbing.

Meka puked up her breakfast violently, she swore loudly, her limbs still shaking, she was reeling, the shock just having settled in.

The Pichu had to force himself not to attack the well meaning strangers, as while they were doing their best to help, seeing them poke and prod Kei with needles and stitches certainly wasn’t the most calming sight. With how on edge Steve was it was no wonder that he’d accidentally shock himself when a pair of heavy mittens wrapped around his body. Thankfully it wasn’t the Gyarados coming back for round two, rather it was the lady that had dragged Kei away from turning into Pokémon food. He’d slightly relax as she went to grab something from her bag. A potion by the looks of it. Thankfully Steve hadn’t sustained any major injuries in his kerfuffle with the Gyarados, only receiving a few bumps and scratches at most. Nevertheless, he’d still appreciate the gift, licking the girl’s mittens in thanks. He’d start climbing up her arm until finally reaching her head, sitting on her beanie as he observed the others with his small button-like eyes. As small as he was, Steve hoped that there was some way he could help the others. It was in part his own fault for the state Kei was in after all. If only he’d kept by his trainer and protected him then maybe this wouldn’t have happened.

“Pichu…”

No, he couldn’t dwell on that when there was work needed to be done, the Pichu hopped off of the lady’s hat and grabbed a Pokéball from off the ground. Hoisting it up with two arms like Atlas himself, Steve shouted at the others with his shrill cry. “Pichu! Pi Pi Pichu Chu!!” Though it was rather unlikely that any of the humans nearby would understand, their partner Pokémon would know exactly what those words meant.

[Pi can’t just sit here and do nothing! There has to be a way to get rid of that overgrown jerk!]

Meanwhile, on the other side of the hill, a dainty hand reaches out into the bushes. Tama had been foraging around the Cobalt Coastlands all morning with her Urara. The two worked in a comfortable silence, despite what was happening in the makeshift town just a few minutes away. A low humming could be heard as the two made their way to their little Castaway Town.

She walked quickly, but quietly, though her pace quickened as the carnage of the attack came into view. It looked like a renaissance painting. She squeezed through what was supposed to be the back door of her hut, and came out the front with her gohei in hand. Her Big Shaman Stick. And a normal stick, a spear, as well.

"It's either we catch it, or we kill it." Tama said to the group, but directed to Athena.

Now that Sami was finished with the stitches, she glanced in the direction where Meka had stomped off. She wasn't entirely sure what to do in this situation. The girl had seemed... angry(?) for some reason and Sami was curious why but it might be best to leave her alone and let her work through her own issues. Plus, she was unsure how much supervision the unconscious Kei would require. She glanced around at her associates.

"Do you think perhaps one of us should go after her?" She asked, pointing her chin in the direction Meka had went.

Athena looked curiously at the frantic Pichu. For the first time throughout this entire ordeal, she let out a smile. Seeing the Pichu so enthusiastic made her feel warm inside-- she was glad he was feeling better, glad that she had contributed to at least something. She breathed a sigh of relief-- things appeared to be calming down more or less.

"I'm glad to see you're doing alright", she said to the Pichu. "I'm sure your trainer will wake up soon and put you back in your ball, but just bare with us for the time being, okay?" she said, leaning close to him and rubbing his soft head. Though, the Pichu continued to jump about, as if trying to communicate something to her.

Athena's smile then turned into a fixated glance at the Pichu, her hand raised to her chin trying to decypher the squeals and squeaks he was making. After a few moments, she heard the rustling of the grass and looked toward another unknown figure.

"Another person?" she thought to herself. "Just how many people ended up here...? What's going on around here?" she thought to herself.

Athena stood back up, clasping her hands together up to her chest, her face looking nervous, like a child about to be chastised or talked down to by their parent.

"It's either we catch it, or we kill it", she said. Athena couldn't help but notice the type of clothes she was wearing. She looked around at everyone else-- a diverse set of individuals, she thought. As if whoever, or whatever sent them here did so for a reason. To prove a point, maybe?

Athena looked down at the ground.

"I would really not prefer the second option...", "But if we catch it, my only wish is that we simply let it live along us", "it may be tempting to use him for battle, but..."

Athena sighed-- all eyes were on here, and she wasn't sure what their eyes meant. Were they in agreement? Disagreement? Was this not the time for her to interject with her opinion on battling.

She shook her head.

"I guess what has to be done has to be done," she finally said in resignation to the ordeal. "But please try not to hurt it, I'm sure it didn't mean to hurt us, it was just protecting it's territory, I'm sure", she continued.

Athena then looked toward the girl with the white hair-- the one who'd bravely decided to help out the stranger she dragged out of the battle. She asked about Meka-- the girl who'd helped along with her to heal up the stranger.

"I don't know, she seems a little intimidating to me...", she said, fiddling with the buttons on her coat. "I'd rather not get in her way, I think..."

Then she glanced at the stranger.

"How do you think he's holding up...?" she asked, trying to change the topic. "I think the Pichu is getting antsy to see his trainer again", she added.

Sami looked down at Kei. He seemed to be doing alright, aside from his injuries, obviously. His chest was heaving up and down steadily. She knelt down next to him again and placed her index and middle finger on his neck. Taking a pulse was something she knew how to do. She'd learned it in high school gym class.

She counted his heartbeats while simultaneously counting to 60. Not an easy feat. She counted a steady 60 beats a minute. It was at the very low end of the normal range. She looked up at Athena.

"His heartbeat's steady." She said. "I can't say when he'll wake up. I haven't the foggiest what the average duration of Yawn is. Still, we should probably get him inside."

She stood up and held out her hand to Athena. "Unrelated, I don't think we've ever been properly introduced. My name is Sami."

Meka huffed as she scrunched up her nose, "Ugh..." She forced herself to get up from her knees, gagging. Stumbling towards the town. She felt horrible, and she was no doubt pale as a ghost, but she had to get the tourniquet off of the kid, it couldn't be on for more than 2 hours and lesser was preferred.

Her feet were unsteady as she walked but she kept on her feet until she was approaching the group, "The cloth tie. Get it off." She stated forcefully but her voice was small and tired as she groaned and face planted onto the dirt heavily...

Steve looked up at the blue haired lady, their newest arrival. By the way she gripped the stick in her hands he knew that she meant definitely meant business. Was she planning on hurting it herself? As much as he didn’t want to think about it, if things didn’t get any better it may very well be possible that he or the others would have to one day seriously hurt his fellow Pokémon. But still…

the Pichu looked at his sleeping trainer. Steve might be really really mad at the Gyarados but he was sure that Kei wouldn’t want that sort of thing to happen to the beast unless there was no other choice. Placing the Pokéball down he’d go to his trainer’s side and nuzzle against the boy’s cheek. “Pichu…”

As he did, an ear would perk up as he heard the sounds of footsteps coming there way. It was the umbreon trainer, looking utterly miserable. That’s it! Human’s liked being around cute Pokémon such as himself himself didn’t they? If he wouldn’t be any help with defeating the Gyarados then maybe Steve could make the trainer happy again instead. “Pi!” Giving a small lick to his own trainer, he’d make his was over to her. In preparation, he put on the cutest expression he could muster and grabbed the girl’s finger with his tiny little paws. “Chu chu?”

Athena examined Sami's hand. She still held her hands against her chest, perhaps as a way to withdraw herself from the situation. However, she ultimately decides to extend her hand outward and shake her hand.

"Athena...", "Nice to meet you, but uh..." she stammered, running through what she wanted to say in her mind for a brief moment, parsing in between speaking. "Listen, I don't think I'm supposed to be here--", she continues, but is promptly interrupted by Meka staggering back from wherever she had gone.

She stepped back a little as she watched Meka fall face first into the ground after muttering something about the cloth tie. She jumped a little as she saw her fall. She held her hand up to her mouth, showing concern.

She began to debate doing something about it, unsure what she could do-- if anything.

Athena squatted back down over Meka and poked her head before looking back up at Sami.

"I think she'll be alright...", she said, not having any real idea if she'd actually be alright or not. She decided to stay by her side, sitting on her knees and observing both Kei and Meka, her hands patiently cupped on her lap.

The cold and salty breeze of the ocean flew through her hair, shifting her braids around. She rummaged through her messenger bag for a Pokeball.

"Sunny, go ahead and warm us up, please", she said, as Rapidash promptly exited his ball. He neighed roughly, but quietly under his breath. Athena then began to blankly stare off into the distance, reflecting on the day's events.

"We haven't even been here this long and we've already got ourselves in this sort of mess", she said. "If I can be honest, I'm terrified of what lies ahead if this is all we've had to deal with", she continues.

Athena inches closer to the leg of Sunny, and brings out a leather bound notebook from her messenger bag, beginning to journal the events of the day. Every few moments or so, she glances over at Meka.

She lifted her head at the small Pokemons touch, "Eh, oh, Hello, you look like my Puppet." She grinned slightly slurring, pushing her body up into a sitting position, She huffed getting up and grabbing the Pokemon by the scruff and placed him on her shoulder, "Since no one here, " She glared at the others, "Will catch him, I guess I'll do everything." She wobbled violently.

She gazed at the sleeping beast, smirking she pet the Pichu. Meka yanked the ultra ball out of her bag, "Whooosh!" She exclaimed as she threw the Pokeball square onto the big guy's head. As she watched the Pokeball shake she stumbled back slamming into Athena's side, "Oops."

As Athena began to write down the details of her day-- she did it again. She got lost in her thoughts and let the solace of writing in her journal take over. She began to recall the quiet morning she enjoyed with Sunny-- watching the sunrise, followed by the uneventful transition into a few hours later, and then the sudden interruption of her quiet afternoon due to the Gyarados.

She then looked over at Meka. Or at least where she was supposed to be. She wasn't in the spot she had faceplanted on just a few minutes ago.

"Whooosh!" she heard coming from the distance.

Athena's heart sank as she saw Meka attempting to take on the fierce creature. She stood up to try to advise her against it, but it was too late, they'd already thrown the ball-- a great ball, at the Gyarados.

As Meka stumbled into her side, Athena hid behind her, petrified at what might happen.

"Did you really have to take initiative like that?" "Maybe we could have taken a vote and decided who was most qualified to do this..." "And what's your game plan if he breaks free? Are you gonna hurt him?" she asks, a sense of urgency continually rising up in her tone after each question and comment.

She begins to rub the tip of her mittens together, concerned.

"Though I guess you Galarians are used to dealing with Pokemon on the bigger side, so maybe I should relax...", "you are Galarian, right?", Athena whispers under her breath.

Sami walked up next to Athena and placed her hand on the poor girl's shoulder. She seemed about ready to collapse. She needed reassurance stat.

"Relax, darling." Sami said, attempting to be soothing. "Everything will be fine. The Gyarados is fast asleep. I'm sure it won't break out."

At least she thought it wouldn't. Could sleeping Pokemon escape Pokeballs? She wasn't sure but she wasn't about to say that out loud. She was trying to be comforting here.

Steve gave a small yelp as he was suddenly placed onto the lady’s shoulder, struggling to keep his balance as she swayed from side to side like a spinda. She really didn’t seem like she was in any condition to stand up much less catch a Pokémon but if no one else was going to do it then it wasn’t like he could say anything on the matter. Thus, he sat and watched the girl shakily throw a Pokéball at the sleeping Gyarados’ direction, observing as the massive creature shrink down to fit fit inside of the capsule. Soon after it seemed that the black haired trainer had lost their balance once more, crashing into the beanie lady’s side. Steve would tightly grip onto the black haired trainer’s clothes as he lost his footing, just barely managing to not fly off in the other direction.

“P-Pichu!”

Having had quite enough of that, Steve took the opportunity to hop off and get a closer look at the Pokeball which contained the previously rampaging Gyarados. He’d circle around the object cautiously, making sure that the Pokémon wouldn’t suddenly pop on out and attack. When everything all seemed to be in the clear he’d conclude his observations by blowing a raspberry in it’s direction. It’s what the jerk deserved for hurting his trainer after all. Satisfied, he’d collect the ball and rush back to the Gyarados’s new owner, pulling at her sock and plopping the object right by their foot so they could collect their new partner. With that, he’d head back to his trainer’s side, snuggling under Kei’s blanket and falling asleep soon after. It’d been a long day and the two of them would need plenty of rest after all.
