Leanna Ivy Lin O'Dwell
Leanna smiled widely and looked back at Garchomp, reaching back and rubbing under his chin, which in returned by pressing his head into her hand. After a short moment, she looked back at Xavier. "Thanks, he belonged to my father." With those words, her smile seemed to diminish some, but she quickly cheered back up. "His names Gibby." She slowly brought her attention to the phantump by her legs. "The little one hiding is Terror, though he's anything but." She giggled as the phantump quickly hid even further behind her legs, obviously nervous. She then brought her attention to the salandit on her shoulder who was watching Xavier with upset eyes. "And this little troublemaker is Scandal." The salandit let out a little hiss and scurried from Leanna's one shoulder to the other before forcing her way down into Leanna's bag. "She can be quite the handful."

When Xavier brought out his pokemon Leanna instantly grabbed her own pokeballs and did the same. "And here is the rest my team, Snowcone my spheal, Buttercup my aron, and Flutter my Flaafy." She watched as each one came out of their pokeballs, each making a little noise to hearing their name. "Like Gibby, Flutter and Snowcone were given to me by my family. Though, one by my mother and the other from my brother."

Leanna smiled at the budew's happy demeanor but seemed a bit concerned by his munchlax's lack of activity. It definitely wasn't uncommon for a munchlax to sleep often, but she felt concerned non-the-less. "I see your munchlax seems to be having trouble staying awake? Is it because of a recent pokemon battle?" She questioned calmly as she reached down in her bag, being careful to not bother her salandit, who was still hiding. "Here, I know it's not much, but this should help." With those words, Leanna pulled an awakening from her bag and held it out for Xavier to take.

Christopher Andrew O'Dwell
"It's very nice to meet you Adrian," Christopher smiled as he shook the man's hand. He opened his mouth as if he was gonna say something else when he heard a squeal from behind him. "Wha..?" He quickly turned both curious and concerned to see the girl waving her arms around with Whisper looking at her, also looking confused.

Whisper backed up some, almost as if he was startled by the girl's sudden noise and actions. The Golisopod took a small step back, giving the girl room as he watched her closely, only taking his gaze off her to look over at her own Pokemon. He let out a soft rough noise as if asking the girl if she was okay before listening to her ramble and speak before quickly making her get away.

"Well... that was, strange..." Christopher patted Whisper on his back before speaking up again "Well... it could have been wor-" Before Christopher finished Golisopod faded, going back into its Pokeball that was held on Christopher's belt.

For a moment Christopher was silent, letting his hand fall back down to his side. "You're such a scaredy cat Whisper..." Christopher's voice trailed off as he sighed and turned back to Adrian. "Well, that was... interesting?" He gently scratched the back of his head as he smiled trying to relieve some of the awkwardness around them.
Adrian looked on with confusion as the girl freaked out over the bug Pokemon and ran off. Personally, he had never been afraid of Bug Pokemon, thinking they fascinating instead of ugly. He then turned and said to Chris," Yeah, that was unusually. I don't even act that dramatic in plays i'm in. Nice Pokemon by the way."

Arielle stepped back, allowing some space for the battle to take place. “You can start us off.” She made a note to get something nice for Archen after this battle, as asking the ancient bird to battle something with a major advantage against him seemed a bit harsh. But, letting the kid fight against a Pokémon like Thirteen or Volcarona would be equally harsh. “Stand your ground for now Archen.” With bobbing a few inches in the air, the bird Pokémon seemed to nod. If the idea was the rookie to learn, being overly aggressive wouldn’t help him out, not yet at least.

CJ took his time looking at the moves. "What kind of Pokemon is Archen?" He asked as he looked and thought. "Like what species?" When he finished reading he locked eyes with Blitz. "The attack you used earlier. Growl." The creature looked at him for a second, as if unsure, before hopping forwards and unleashing a low deep croak at the flying Pokemon.

"Archen is an Archen." Arielle's lips quirked. "Flying and Rock typed." She did offer knowledge after all, even if it didn't serve her ends. Archen wobbled in the air, as the Froakie's Growl washed over him, glancing back towards Arielle for orders. "Wing Attack." Squawking in acceptance, Archen bobbed back into the air, moving to strike Froakie with it's left wing.

"You named it its species? That's like calling you Human." CJ was aghast at that even as Blitz spectacularly failed at paying attention to its enemy and caught a wing straight to the mouth. The creature made a startled croak as it was knocked backwards and onto its back. CJ frowned, his face growing more serious. "Blitz get up. You have to watch your opponent and try to avoid their attacks bud. I'm sorry I was distracted, won't happen again. " He eyed the Pokedex again. "Use those powerful legs to jump at it with Pound!" Blitz nodded as it righted itself. It gathered its strength under its legs and pushed up towards the Archen.

Arielle shrugged, somewhat amused by the comparison. “Not all of my Pokémon have nicknames, actually. Thirteen is a bit of an oddity in that regard." The Absol barked in an agreement, while the Trainer gave instructions to his Froakie. It was solid advice; the sort she didn’t expect a Rookie Trainer to give his Pokémon. Froakie leapt into the air, striking Archen before he could react, knocking the prehistoric bird back and to the dirt. Getting up, it shook some dust off, wings spread wide to take off again. “Quick Attack Archen, and this time, give yourself some space afterwards, so he can’t surprise you again.” Kicking off, Archen darted forwards, jabbing it’s beak forwards to strike.

Blitz was fast enough to see it coming but not well trained enough to get out of the way in time. The small creature was knocked back again, struggling to get back on his feet. CJ grimaced, watching the Archen fly further up into the air after its last attack. Blitz had barely reached it in the first place and now it looked pretty beat up. He needed something with range. He checked his dex and found something that might work, assuming his Froakie could guess what it meant. He'd never seen Blitz do it, but he'd barely known the creature for a few minutes. "Blitz jump again and use Bubble." Blitz jumped again, despite the pain, reaching inside himself to collect the powerful spray of what appeared to mostly harmless bubbles that spread out in a shotgun arc towards his flying rival.

This time, Archen was ready for the attack, with plenty of time to see it coming. He dropped down, clearing the majority of the attack, however, one bubble caught him in the left wing, bursting and showering Archen in water. With only time to yelp in surprise, the bird whirled, before a second slower moving bubble caught him full in the chest.

With a heavy thunk Archen dropped out of the air, landing in front of Blitz sopping wet. Shaking some of the water off, he stood, swaying back and forth from foot to foot, now regarding the Froakie with considerably more wariness. Arielle grimaced. She could attack, of course, and might be able to knock Froakie out, but should that fail, Archen wouldn’t be able to take another attack, and they’d be making a Pokemon Center trip over a simple spar. “I think we can safely call that a win for you.” Dipping her head in the direction of the younger trainer, she shrugged a bit. “I’m not confident Archen could knock Froakie out with his next attack, and another Bubble would end it for me.”

He frowned. What was that? A couple of...bubbles...and the Archen was shot out of the sky. Either Pokemon lived by different rules than he'd been used to, or that attack was stronger than it looked. Probably both. "Oh. Well. I accept?" He called Blitz over and the creature hopped closer before jumping onto his shoulder, much slower than usual. CJ would have to get that checked out, he'd wanted to see a Pokecenter anyways. "Can you explain to me what just happened?"

Waving Archen over, Arielle started digging into her back, searching for a few berries for each Pokémon. “Of course.” Finding what she wanted, Arielle pulled a few Oran berries out, offering one to Archen, who set to devouring it greedily. “Being a Rock type, Archen is weak to Water type moves, such as the Bubble your Froakie just used. Most refer to it as being ‘super effective,’ but I’ve always found that a little corny. In either case, it means that Bubble does extra damage to Archen here.” She tossed an Oran berry over. “Give that to Blitz, it will help him recover from the battle.” Recalling Archen, Arielle made a note to visit the Pokémon Center later to be certain. “A big part of Pokémon battling is memorizing Pokémon types and move types, and remembering which are effective against which.” Arielle bit her tongue, already feeling a bit lecturing, from just that little bit.

CJ caught the berry and looked at it. It was food at least, healing properties or not, and Blitz was always hungry. He held up the berry for the Froakie who grabbed it with his tongue and held it between two ebbed hands as he nibbled at it. Meanwhile, CJ listened intently to the woman's lecture, nodding along. "I see, there's more to this than I thought. Looks like I've got some studying to do while we train. "He looked Arielle in the eye. "Thank you, for the lesson and the battle. I'm sorry I was so suspicious before. I'm CJ, by the way."

Although she didn’t show it, the subtle shift in the boy’s demeanor caught Arielle quite off guard. Meeting his gaze, she dipped her head. “I’m Arielle.” At this point, she truly was surprised, not having expected the boy to volunteer his name. “Glad to help. I’ve been told there is no such thing as too much knowledge.” An old maximum, from her previous life, but it held true. Waving aside the apology, Arielle went on, “Don’t worry about it. You were subtler than most anyways. That caution will serve you well traveling.”

"I've noticed." He agreed, thinking back to those he'd seen in the Pokemon Lab. "I hope it does. Though I'm not much ready for travelling either. I- we have a lot of work to do." He said, petting the Froakie who'd already finished the berry. "I'll probably be around here, if you're staying in town and want to chat."

"I'll admit it's good to see a new trainer who knows their limits." At the very least, it meant someone who wasn't going to run off and crush their dreams in the first week of traveling. "I'm staying in the area, still haven't decided what I'm going to do this time around. Might have had my fill of gym battles." She paused, to shrug. "I might just take you up on that. Be nice to have someone to train with."

I wouldn't get too attached to another trainer's Pokemon if I were you Shinx. You might find yourself fighting them one day. I don't need you stopping short of winning a battle because you don't want to hurt your friend. Because I can guarantee you they won't hesitate to take you down for their trainer. I've seen it happen.” Zeke would ramble on to his electric companion as they walked, Zeke's almost full attention on the pokedex in his hand. His attention would divert only long enough to look up and make sure he wasn't about to walk in to someone or something. Other than that, it was the pokedex. The Shinx would merely yip at his trainer's words, not really fully understanding what he meant. Maybe he would on day, but that day wasn't today. “...Wonder if there's a way to see what Pokemon have been spotted outside of town lately...” Zeke would mutter to himself, stopping when he heard the telltale sounds of a battle in progress. Looking up, Zeke would spot an Archen staring down a Froakie. Archen wasn't a Pokemon you saw every day. Zeke would half smile, telling his Shinx “That'll be us soon. Going toe to toe with someone to see which of us is better. It's my job to make sure you're prepared for that. I hope you're ready for what that means.

Once it seemed their battle was over, with the victor being clear from the beginning, Zeke would take the opportunity to approach his two fellow trainers, his Shinx following closely behind until they arrived. Once they had the Shinx would immediately approach the Froakie as it ate and paw at it in a playful manner. “Pardon us” he started, looking between the two trainers. “I caught a bit of your battle just now. It's not too often you seen an Archen. If you don't mind me asking, did you have him revived from a fossil, or did you hatch him from an egg?” He didn't know where one might find an Archen just wondering about in the wild, so it had to be one of those two options, right? He realized then he hadn't introduced himself yet, stating “Ooh. Sorry. I'm Zeke, by th way. I just couldn't not come over once I saw you were trainers.” Aah this was the life. Getting to know his fellow trainers. Well, hopefully anyway. For all he knew he had just interrupted a date. That...would be severely awkward.

CJ nodded to Arielle, about to accept the chance to train when a second stranger entered his little clearing. Maybe this was a park grounds or a communal gathering place? He'd have to look for somewhere more deserted if he was going to get any alone time to actually train. At least the kid was more interested in the Archen and Arielle than him. He filed away the information that Pokemon could apparently be revived from fossils. He'd heard about that before, of course, it just seemed on par with the ludicrous idea that a Pokemon created the universe or that some Pokemon live in different dimensions on other worlds. They're just animals, not gods. As he was thinking to himself, another Pokemon had sneaked up and was staring at Blitz, still perched on his shoulder. Blitz stared down at the strange blue four legged creature with wide yellow eyes. The creature seemed interested with Blitz, it was pawing up at him and past CJ in a way that was a little alarming for the novice trainer. Blitz too seemed only a little nervous, making a confused ribbit down at it.

CJ stepped back out of its reach, eyeing the creature warily as he pointed the 'dex at it. After a quick scan, he found it was a Shinx. Apparently an electric type that produced electricity with its muscles, it could glow when in danger. The 'dex had more info in it than just moves and species names then. That was...useful to know? It wasn't glowing now, anyways, so it didn't seem like it was being threatened. Though not being scared and not being dangerous were two very different things. "Uhm." CJ looked at the newcomer, Zeke was his name. Gaging what he could about the kid from a cursory glance. He looked young, younger even than CJ and his wild hair and wide eyes clashed with his clothes which just screamed 'school uniform.' Compared to CJ's more laidback style, this kid was basically begging for attention, he felt. So, why was it that CJ was the one drawing in people? Some assassin, couldn't even escape notice on his first day as a trainer. Hell, his first few minutes, even. "Is this Shinx yours? And can you take it back?"

The arrival of a second trainer caught Arielle a bit by surprise. This one, almost impossibly, seemed less experienced than CJ, perhaps because he looked fresh out of school. Experienced or not, he definitely was more eager. “No fossil. I’m not that lucky. Got Archen’s egg from a friend while in Alola. I’m not sure of his origins beyond that.” Sweeping her gaze up and down the new trainer, as well as filing his name away. “I’m Arielle. This is Thirteen. ” She gestured to the Absol at her side, whose attention was currently focused on the Shinx who seemed quite interested in CJ’s Froakie. Both seemed just a little askance at the attention from Shinx.

“Starting with a Shinx?” Letting her posture relax a bit, Arielle considered. “Interesting choice.” She wasn’t about to offer to battle this kid, but his choice of starter Pokémon did intrigue her a fair bit, espeically after finding another rookie with a conventional starter.

"Well I know quite a few people are scared of bugs... but that was the first time I witnessed someone freak out that much. She looked terrified." For a moment Christopher paused, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Wait, You do plays?" Christopher asked. He had never thought that someone who was here to help the professor would also be performing plays or doing any sort of performing activities, but the more he thought about it, it made sense to study pokemon relationships between everyone, not just on the road pokemon trainers. "What sort of plays do you do?" He asked becoming evermore curious.

Adrian grinned widely as Serperior rolled her eyes, She knew exactly where this was going. Adrian then said to him while keeping his big grin," What plays do I do? What plays don't i do? I do mystery, musicals, drama and much, much, more. The critics don't call me the most versatile Thespian in the regions for nothing."

Zeke would look first to the male that asked him to take back his Shinx, then to the Pokemon in question. “I'll try. But watch this.” Zeke would move a few steps back, looking to his Shinx. “Shinx.” He stated flatly, the electric Pokemon looking to him for a second, then back up to the Froakie. When he hunkered down in preparation to pounce, Zeke would call to the Shinx again, this time using a more serious, stern tone. “Shinx. Stop.” The Shinx would flinch slightly at the harsh tone his trainer used, but would straighten back up without taking its eyes off the Froakie. He was going to play, or he was going to pounce. Lightening his tone, Zeke would look to the two he had intruded on. “Now watch this.” He would again look to his Shinx, telling the electric Pokemon “Shinxy, foods ready.” In an overly sweet tone. The Shinx would immediately snap his entire form 180, eyes wide with anticipation and a grin that was so large it forced his tiny mouth open. “There, ya see. Complete one track mind. I'm sorry about him.” Zeke had gotten used to apologizing for his Shinx.

Zeke didn't react when his Shinx began to sniff him and the area around him, wondering where the food was. He would instead give his attention to the female trainer as she told him about her Archen being hatched from an Egg, giving an interested nod. That was some friend, that felt comfortable enough to give out an Archen Egg. “Aurorus is my personal favorite fossil. I blame too much Region Before Time growing up.” When the female of the duo gave her opinion on Zeke's starter of choice, Zeke would respond with a nod. "One of my teachers gave him to me for graduation. He told me to make sure I train Shinx hard, and that's exactly what I plan on doing." It was then that he realized he had gotten far off topic. “I didn't mean to intrude. I only meant to ask if either of you might know the fastest way out of town. I've been at sea the past week getting here, and I'm ready to get my journey under way as soon as possible. Won't make much progress sitting around here all day.” At least, in his opinion he wouldn't. First things first. He needed to add more Pokemon to his lineup. Something that wasn't going to happen staying here in town.

CJ, murderer and Pokemon Trainer, stared at the new trainer, his face a blank mask. In truth he was disgusted. He'd known Blitz for less than half an hour and the amphibian was already far better behaved than that Shinx, who had also not been named. That still struck a sore point with CJ. It spoke of a lack of willingness to connect with the Pokemon. Sure, he'd intended to use Blitz and any others he'd found as tools, but they were still living creatures. He wondered how these people would feel if the roles were reversed. He was willing to bet they'd want their own individuality affirmed. None of this he'd share out loud of course. Even Arielle, who's help he'd accepted and would continue to accept, wasn't really worth the effort. Maybe that was why Blitz was already so obedient, since CJ had given him the gift of a name. That at least settled that in his own mind. He'd be naming all the creatures under his command, and treating them as sentient. They were definitely the latter, as far as he was concerned. They were far more than just animals.

As he thought to himself, CJ blankly nodded along to the conversation. When the young boy had finally stopped talking, after asking some question or another, CJ took his chance. "I really don't know. Actually, I was just headed back to town. I'll-uh- see you later Trainer Arielle. Good luck, or whatever, Human kid." With that he moved to leave the clearing headed back the way he had come. He'd need to do some shopping before he made his way out of town anyway. It was clear this little park wasn't remote enough to avoid people. So he would have to find something outside of the city, preferably someplace with trees. He still had money left over from the spoils of the family treasury. It would see him through for a little while yet if he budgeted. Eventually he'd have to start seeking out battles. Training came first though, as it should.

Xavier Winstfield
Aero City

Xavier looked at each of Leanna's Pokemon as she introduced them, they all had their own quirks and personality and it made him excited to meet more Pokemon. Budew went on to socialize with Leanna's Pokemon, or at least the one's that were willing to socialize with the excited little plant. When Leanna asked about Muchlax's state of sleeping and offered him an awakening Xavier let out a chuckle while holding out his hand to decline the offer, "Oh Lax? He's always like that," he told her before kneeling down and rubbing the big eater Pokemon's head, the Pokemon's eyes slowly open as he lets out a big yawn. "See, he was taking a little nap," he continued with Lax looking up at Xavier with an expression of 'Why have you awoken me?' which the trainer shrugged off. Xavier considers Lax his strongest Pokemon as he was bred from Xavier's mom's Snorlax and the two have been together since Xavier was a little kid.

Another woman approached Xavier and Leanna, she seemed older than them with a Dragonair following behind her. The woman complimented Xavier's Pokemon and asking for their names, "oh yeah," he blurted out looking almost dumbfounded, "I guess I should tell you their names. The Togepi on my back is Toge," he said, turning slightly to show the Togepi in his backpack, which was waving at everyone. "This lazy boy is Lax," He continued, patting his Munchlax on the head, the Pokemon letting out a shallow yawn. "And finally we have Violet the happy Budew," he finished, attempting to show off the little plant which was too busy trying to play with the other Pokemon.

After introducing his Pokemon Xavier looked out at the other two, "So what are your plans now that we're finally off the leash?" He asked before looking at the Woman, "You should challenge old man Winston over at the Gym. He specializes in flying type Pokemon, but don't underestimate his old age," He told her knowing from the many trainers that come to challenge the old gym leader. To be honest Xavier was ready to bounce, he wanted to run free and catch new Pokemon, but he didn't want to abandon some potential friends.

Arielle regarded Zeke's display with the Shinx with some disdain. While she didn't approve of mistreatment or over zealousness, Trainer and Pokémon needed to trust and listen to each other, not be led by the nose, or in this case, the stomach. Perhaps that is what she found interesting about CJ and by extension Blitz the Froakie. Despite being obvious newbies they bonded well and trusted each other, more than your average new trainer and Pokémon, and in her travels, she had seen more than a few.

She shrugged in response to Zeke's question. CJ, even more obviously uncomfortable than when she approached, begged off, pleading ignorance. "Later" Respectfully dipping her head, she tried not to snigger when CJ referred to Zeke as Human Kid. It was altogether childish, and amusing. She'd definitely be sticking about to help him train for that remark alone.

"I'm sticking around for a while as well." Although she’d been in the city a short while, Arielle expended her energy figuring out where the Professor’s lab was, not how to leave. And if she wanted to travel, Volcarona could fly her. "Might try checking your Pokedex, they apparently can do everything except cook your food these days." Of course her first Dex had been stolen, and her second bought fourth hand for a ridiculous price, so perhaps her Knowledge was a bit questionable. "Beyond that, maybe the local Pokémon Center would have maps or something.” Internally, she sighed. “Unless there’s anything else I can help you with, I’m probably going to head back into town?”

Taylor smiled, then reached to pat the Togepi on the head. "That is an adorable Pokemon. Togepi are known to have amazing hidden potential, so keep an eye on this one!" She stated.

The Togepi seemed very happy with it's trainer, and was wide-eyed amd trusting. Such a young kid. Hopefully he wouldn't falter on his journey.

The Lax seemed to be in tune with it's nature. A slothful thing, but that could be attributed to species more than owner. Then there was rhe Budew. A cute little thing, wanting a friend.

"I think I have someone who'd wanna play with your Violet," she added. With a practiced spin she flung out a Pokeball, and out came a Lilligant.

"This is my Lilligant, Athena," she introduced. The flowering Pokemon showed an exuberant expression as her red-orange eyes met with thr Budew. It bounced excitedly as it wandered over to Violet.

As the two played, Xavier began to get anxious and addressed the professor. They brought up the league challenge, of course. The first leader specialized in flyinf type. Taylor could probably pop in, steamroll him with her Tyrantrum, then get back to important matters, if time permitted.

Taylor then turned to address the boy. "You seem so eager to atart your journey," she mused. He'd be a good member of Rocket one day, if fate permitted, but right now he was too young and starry eyed to handle such a burden.

"Are you sure that you're prepared?"

Zeke would first look to the male of the duo when he suddenly announced he was going back in to town, calling Zeke Human Kid. Taken back by such a weird nickname, Zeke would take a few seconds to respond with “You too...I think....Alien Kid...” He felt like he had missed something somewhere, and it was very confusing. Zeke was going to ask, even half pointing after the guy as he left only to put his hand down and shake his head with a sigh. “I...don't think I even want to know.” In all honesty he did, but he wasn't going to come right out and ask.

Zeke would look back to the female of the duo when she began addressing him, telling him she would be staying in town at least for now. He would nod when she said it might be a good idea for him to check his dex, again producing the device he had just gotten from the good professor. “I tried that....I'm not good at reading maps like this one. I was hoping it had a GPS function in it, but it doesn't look like it. That, or I'm missing it.” Which was also just as likely. He had hoped to get his adventure underway as soon as possible, but that wasn't going to happen so long as he was stuck in town. When the woman suggested going to the Pokemon center, it was like a lightbulb went off in Zeke's mind. “That...actually could work. Surely the local Joy can tell me how to get out of town. We can stay th night, and head out first thing in the morning.....It's brilliant...why didn't I think of that?” After a moment's consideration Zeke would shake his head. “No, I think that was it. I didn't mean to interrupt your date.....or scare off your friend....If I see him in town I'll.....well I don't know honestly.” A one day set back wasn't going to be the end of his journey. “Did....I mean if you're going to the Pokemon center too, did you maybe want to walk together? Or ya know, if you want to go and find your friend is cool too. Either way.” Now that he had a more set plan in mind, Zeke was sure the rest of the day could only get better.

Subtly, the corners of Arielle's lips turned upwards, as Zeke started talking, mostly to himself. Yet again, a rookie trainer running off without thinking and forgetting the obvious. Maybe the kid would take the lesson to heart, and slow things down a bit before he landed himself in worse trouble. History suggested, however, that wouldn't be the case.

When Zeke suggested that he'd interrupted a date, Arielle couldn't resist breaking into outright laughter. "You-we-oh my..." Regaining control of herself, Arielle shook her head. "I'm twenty-one kid, I think rookie trainers are a bit young for me, no matter what region we're in." As for the offer to walk back to town, Arielle considered refusing, but she did, in fact, want to stop at the Pokemon Center to ensure Archen stayed in good shape, before either eating something or taking a nap for the afternoon. Speaking of CJ, something jumped out at her. Although she'd offered to help him out, she didn't give him a means of finding her, besides her somewhat distinctive partner Pokemon. "Give me a minute to write something down, and I suppose we're both headed the same way." Without waiting for a reply, she pulled a small pad of paper from one of her jacket pockets, scribbling down a quick note, containing a number to get ahold of her, and a quick note explaining as such and apologizing for the somewhat strange delivery method. "Thirteen, can you take this to CJ?" The Absol barked once, head darting out to take the folded paper from her fingertips, and bounding off after CJ. Returning her attention to Zeke, Arielle nodded. "Shall we?"

“Alriiiight, looks like everything is all done here.” Cross mutters, unplugging the PokeGear from the new dex, shoving the two items into their own pocket on her pants. “Now we just find Route one, then you and I can do our stupid tradition and we can finally get a move on and get over to those ruins! OoooHHH, I am so excited about those!!”

Cross was barely containing her excitement at this point, her feet constantly moving and toe tapping eclectically as she stood up, gathered her bag and slung it over her shoulder, walking off just in time for a little kid to walk out of the Pokemon lab. “Sooooo, the route we oughta take should be... a right, a left... annnnnd straight on.”

Soon enough, she found herself at the exit of the city, the path in front of her spreading wide with a few trainers wandering around with pokemon of their own.
“Well, this is it, Luna.” Cross said, looking at her partner, who was eagerly waiting for the right cue, “The next big adventure starts right here. So let’s just take our first big step down that road.” And with that, the Trainer and Pokemon stepped in unison across the line into Route One (at least she assumed it was called Route one) and the two looked at each other, having an almost identical twinkle in their eyes.

Luna nudged Cross’s arm eagerly, and she immediately knew what that meant.
“Oh, what? Did you want everyone else?”
“Guuuu!”
“Awww, getting sick of me already?”
“Megiii!”
“Awww, it’s okay Luna, I know, I know. Gimme a minute, you impatient lil sprout.”
Cross teased playfully, giving’s Luna neck a pat before digging into her pants pocket and bringing out all her other Pokeballs, clicking them all to their larger size, then tossing them all into the air.

Out popped Espeon, Raichu, Dragonite, Ninetales and Absol. The five pokemon glanced around them, then quickly seemed to realize that this was another new place and began to wander around in their own ways. Absol sniffed the air and went to sit beside his Trainer patiently, while the Dragonite kind of shuffled his feet and looked nervously around the nearby area. Meanwhile, the Ninetales and Raichu immediately bolted off to look around (and maybe pick a fight with someone) and Espeon...
“...Cherry?... oh, crap. Graceon! Find Cherry! The rest of you, come back here!”

The mischevious Espeon had immediately run off into the city under her trainer’s nose. She even went as far as to chuckle (if Pokemon can chuckle?) as she wandered off, looking for mischief to cause.
Eventually, her eyes found some lone guy wandering through the city, looking mildly nervous. He wore all black, had a choppy short haircut, and in general stuck out like a sore thumb in this brightly colored city. Like a dark cloud in the blue sky. He was clearly deep in thought.
A PERFECT. TARGET. MWAHAHAHA.

Immediately the petit pink Pokemon ran over to the guy and started rubbing her body against his legs, not unlike that of a Meowth begging for attention. Then she turned her eyes up to him and blinked, her purple orbs glowing faintly.
She had to work quickly, before her trainer or, even worse, Graceon, showed up.

Solana had been told by her mother to deliver a package of Poké Balls and potions to the nearby professor's lab. Professor Maple and her mother went way back; if she hadn't moved to Caerleon City, Solana was certain her mother would be working as the Nurse Joy in Aero City. Usually the packages Sol had to take were super heavy, so she was grateful it was an easier task for the first day of her journey. Sol looked back at Happy, who was sleeping in her pack due to the package she was holding, cuddling with the egg her mother had also given her, before continuing her way through the route. Her mother knew she'd have to get a Pokédex from Professor Maple if she wanted to have an idea on which Pokémon she'd want to catch to grow her party, so she sent her on her way with her package, knowing Professor Maple would need them for the new trainers arriving every day.

Solana pressed a button on the back of her shoes once she reached the lab and the wheels seemingly disappeared, contracting and hiding under her maroon hi-top boots. These shoes were so useful; she didn't have to worry about her bike getting stolen, or becoming fried due to an electric Pokémon. Solana entered the building with a smile after someone walked out, not wanting to hit them with her box. Oh. It seemed like she'd just missed the introductions. "Excuse me, Professor Maple?" Sol said softly, shifting the box a bit so it would be easier to carry, her eyes meeting the professor's after she'd finished her speech. "It's good to see you. My mom gave me a package for you!"

Solana took the time to observe the laboratory while she waited for Professor Maple to tell her where to put the box; it had been a few months since she'd visited last, and Maple had changed a few things around. The basics were still the same, of course, but Sol loved to see what new research the professor and her assistants had been doing while she herself had been learning all other things about Pokémon from her parents. Research about evolution, about things outside of nature and nurture, was what the Professor was after, and seeing all of her new work had Solana in awe. She was so distracted that when Happy yawned, waking from her nap on her back, she almost didn't notice. Then, the young Happiny seemed to mirror her own excitement at being in the lab with a squeal; that got her attention.

Sol looked back at Happy, her smile growing a bit. Happy had no idea how she'd helped to quell Solana's nerves after it had hit her that she was late. "I know, right? It is very exciting." She replied smoothly, and Happy waved her tiny hands with another squeal. Solana turned a bit so Happy could see more of the lab, before quickly leaning down as she realized what Happy would actually want to do. She was unfazed as the Happiny jumped out of her bag to explore, turning to check on the egg she'd left behind. Once Happy was certain the egg was alright, the Happiny bounced off, immediately finding interest in the growing group of Pokémon and the trainers, but more specifically with the Togepi on the only boy of the party's back.

Solana walked over to the party and closer to the Professor while Happy bounced up and down. "She really likes to take care of eggs, sorry about that." Sol said, admiring the Garchomp with the party before her eyes settled on the Flaafy. "Oh, she's gorgeous." Solana cooed. She hadn't seen a Flaafy in a while, maybe months. She knew at some point she'd want to find one during her journey, but the feeling was more prominent now. Solana finally gave her attention to the group. "You all have such divine Pokémon."

CJ, murderer and Pokemon trainer, currently staring down the Absol from earlier. "Thirteen, right?" The creature snorted around the paper in its mouth. "That for me?" He nodded, trotting up to drop the note in his outstretched hand. CJ took it, shaking his head. On the paper was a number and an apology for the delivery method. "Well, at least I don't have to track her down if I need anything." He said with a small smirk. "It's cool you can be trusted to do something like this, proves a lot of theories in my head." He spoke absentmindedly to the Absol who at least seemed to be paying token attention. He opened his pack and put the note inside, doubling back and taking out some food in case Thirteen wanted any. Then he heard the sadistic laughing-meowing sound.

He looked up to see a small pink feline creature with a twin tail and a gem between its eyes trot up to him, purring and rubbing up against him. He stood stock still, unwilling to startle the strange Pokemon, Blitz hadn't even seen this creature coming until it was too late. "Uh, hey...little guy...girl?" He spoke calmly, still trying not to startle it. He looked around for a trainer and saw no one actively looking for a Pokemon, if any of the people around were trainers. "Where's your trainer? Are you all alone?" It wasn't acting dangerous. But that didn't mean it was safe. He looked desperately at the two Pokemon he knew. The Froakie was just staring down at the creature, curious. Blitz was probably not going to be any help in this matter anyways, he was still weakened and untrained besides. That left Thirteen. He stared at the Absol pleadingly, mentally asking him to do something, anything.

We live in a world where a 10 year old is considered mature enough to be responsible for another living, breathing creature. Anythings possible.” He grinned, adding “And if you call me kid again, I'm gonna start calling you old lady.” Zeke would nod when asked for a moment, taking the moment to look around....Hey....Where had Shinx gotten off to? The answer to his question came in the form of several Wingull suddenly darting from their perch in a nearby tree, Zeke finding his Shinx had disappeared to climb the tree and started making trouble with the water birds. He didn't let it show, but Zeke wasn't sure whether he should be angry or proud of his Shinx for doing what he had. That was quickly replaced by a momentary twinge of fear when the Shinx suddenly jumped from the tree in Zeke's direction, likely with the intent of toppling his trainer over. The Shinx however greatly misjudged the distance between them, and had he continued to fall to the ground the only thing he would have accomplished would have been hurting himself. But his trainer was no slouch.

Without thinking, Zeke would produce the Shinx's poke-ball, expand it, and recall the electric kitten while it was still mid-air to keep him from going splat against the ground. “This is what happens when I take my eyes off you for two seconds.” He would mutter to the poke-ball as it exploded back open, the Shinx shaking as he again took form next to his trainer. When the Absol took off to find the guy from before, Shinx would watch for a second and start after the larger dark type, Zeke already squatted down and picking the electric cat up in his arms. He started to scold the Shinx, even took a deep breath and opened his mouth, but instead went with “.....maybe next time.” With a Yip the Shinx was put back down, Zeke looking to his walking companion when asked if they should getting under way. He would nod, outstretching a hand towards town. “After you ma'am. I...can't even find my way out of town, much less through it.

The deep maroon gem on the Espeon’s forehead glowed brightly, and slowly, out of the bag that CJ had carelessly left wide open, the man’s wallet began to float, bobbing along behind and around him.
Meanwhile, Cherry continued to pull the cutesy-wootsy act, rubbing against him and mewling, flicking her gigantic pink ears around and fluffing herself up, making herself look even cuter, before suddenly, she seemed to lose interest and... took off like a rocket, the wallet and any spare change that might have been laying in the bottom of the bag racing after her through the air.
Having successfully gotten her prize (at least she thought) the wallet open, the spare change was shoved into random pockets in there, then closed it up again. She then drifted the thing up in front of her and she grasped it in her teeth as she ran, chuckling mischeviously as she went.
About halfway down the street, a shadow appeared on the roof of a flower shop, and down jumped an Absol, scaring the bejeezus out off the pretty pink Pokemon. She stopped dead in her tracks, stared into the red, cloudy eyes of the Absol, before turning tail and attempting to run, only to be snapped up by the tail, and carried back in the direction of CJ.

By now, Cross had run up to the scene of the crime and had a disappointed/angry look on her face as Graceon approaches, carrying Cherry by her tail between his teeth, with Cherry still holding the stolen wallet.

The young woman took the Espeon from Graceon, flipped her right side up and gave her a stern look, one of which Cherry’s only response was a big, “I’m innocent, I swear!” smile.

“...How many times do I have to tell you not to steal things? I never taught you to steal stuff! Cripes, I’ve been trying to break you out of this dirty little habit of yours for years!”
Cross said, holding the Psychic type in her hands at eye level, staring into her Pokemon’s purple eyes. Still, just the innocent grin. “Ughh... you do so well, no stealing, no mischief for months, then POOF! You go back to it AGAIN! Why are you such a kleptomaniac?! I don’t understand!”
Having finished her rambling (for now), Cross began to try to take the wallet back from Cherry, but petit pokemon held on.
“Seriously, Cherry? Let go.”
Another tug, no dice.
“Cherry, you’re caught, let go.”
Another try. A little give, but still.
“Cherry. Let. Go. Now.”

Finally the wallet was retrieved from Cherry as all of Cross’s other Pokemon appeared, the Ninetales plodding up daintily, Dragonite kind of timidly hovering in the air on the other side of his trainer, Raichu hopping up onto his trainer’s shoulder and looking at Cherry, and finally Meganium taking up her place behind Cross, shaking her head in disapproval in Cherry’s direction. Meanwhile Graceon sat in front of Cross, his back straight and proud, and his eyes fixed on the trainer in front of him.

Cross handed the wallet back to the young man, “I am so sorry about her, I’m trying to break her of this... habit. Here, this is yours, right? You might want to look through there and make sure everything is still in there.”

Arielle Atken

“Just use my name.” For a moment, Arielle’s expression darkened, shoulders tensing, her left hand balling into a fist. Being called Ma’am invoked a few too many memories of her less than savory dealings. Of threats, both those she carried out and those she made. Occasionally, a few threats made against her. “Ma’am is altogether too formal.” Yes. That sounded like a good explanation. Trying not to laugh at Zeke’s obvious directional challenges, she accepted the proffered hand, electing not to comment on the marked difference in their heights.

“Luckily for you, I spent most of yesterday finding my way around town.” One of those old habits that even a long vacation in Alola and a peaceful life couldn’t manage to quite shake off. “It isn’t too long of a walk from here.” Setting off in the direction, Arielle had to remind herself not to move at her usual brisk stride, her current companion being substantially shorter than she was. “Forgive me if this is prying, but what has you in such a hurry to leave?” Presumably, either over-eagerness or the kid had a more interesting life than she assumed.

Thirteen

Although he was only supposed to deliver the note, Thirteen accepted the offer of food. What his Trainer didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her, and it wasn’t as if that other one represented a major concern to him. Even without the ability to sense danger, Thirteen could tell the one he’d dragged his Trainer too didn’t enjoy the attention from this new arrival. As the Espeon continued to rub against CJ’s legs, the Absol stepped up, growling a low warning, without much effect. Without his trainer, Thirteen didn’t want to fight, reaching out with a paw to shove the Espeon away, and interpose himself between the new Pokémon, and his Trainers newest friend. Before he could the Espeon turned, and bolted.

Thirteen prepared to bolt straight after the Espeon, now entirely unconcerned about starting a fight with said Espeon, before catching himself. While he didn’t think his trainer would mind, she probably could solve the problem a better way if they were forced too. By the time he reached this conclusion a third new trainer of the day appeared and started chastising her Pokémon, one that had been retrieved by another Absol.

As the trainer approaching CJ and they spoke, Thirteen remained between his new friend and the multitude of strange Pokémon, hackles raised a small degree. While none of them seemed overtly threatening, it paid to be safe, particularly with people his Trainer liked.

CJ watched in horrified fascination as the creature's gem began to glow and Thirteen moved in to react. Playful or not, what that pink creature was doing was clearly an attack. He moved to get out of the way before he realized just what the attack had been. In shock, he watched Blitz's long tongue just barely miss latching onto one of his wallets as it floated to the creature's mouth. It turned to run and Thirteen looked like he had wanted to help but didn't know whato do. CJ could relate.

"Wha?" He stepped forwards to give chase. If that had been the wrong wallet, he might be in heavy financial trouble. But he stopped when another Absol took the creature in its teeth. It turned to face him and he watched as a Pokemon Trainer rushed around the corner. This girl couldn't have been much older than him but she stood with a full retinue of monsters at her side. CJ took stock of her as she scolded the Pokemon named Cherry.

She didn't seem like much, more muscular than CJ maybe, and much more tan with pale green eyes. She seemed a little...off was a nice way to put it. Awkward fit better. Even so, she must have some skill to have the small army that followed at her heels. He supposed it took a special breed to be a trainer. He wondered what that meant for him. As she finally directed her attention to him, Thirteen decided now was the time to interpose himself. He could almost laugh, really. "Thirteen, it's ok, she's returning it to me."

He stepped passed the Absol to recieve the wallet. A cursory glance showed that it had just been his mugging wallet. It was a decoy with small change designed for humans who might try to steal from him, though apparently it worked just as well on mischievous Pokemon. He felt like he should be angry and the low rumble from his shoulder told him Blitz had that emotion covered fairly well. Mainly he was more overwhelmed than anything. This day had been more eventful than his last year. He let his subconcious do the talking while he mentally recovered. "No worries, really. I'm just glad you caught her before I had to call for a Jenny." He smiled disarmingly, implying a joke. "Thank you."

Can't do that either stranger. I don't know it.” So far he knew she had an Archen and an Absol, and that he had interrupted a not-date, thus scaring off her accomplice who referred to him as Human Kid. That was it. He was glad the center wasn't too far from here, Zeke asking “So are the marts set up inside the Pokemon centers like Alola, or are they separate buildings still like in Kanto?” At least, they were still separate the last time he had been home. “I'm only asking because I have some supplies, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure my stock is up to snuff before heading out.” Since he was going to stay in town for the day anyway. Walking with her, he noted that her steps seemed to be slower than most regular people, likely so she didn't leave him in the dust. He appreciated that, even if he didn't say it out loud. His Shinx on the other hand would run full speed ahead, Zeke shaking his head at the way his Pokemon behaved. “I swear if I could bottle that energy and sell it I'd be rich.

When the question came of why he was so eager to start his journey, Zeke would begin rifling through his pokedex. “You ever hear of Pokemon Tech Universities? They've got branches in a lot of different regions. One of their big draws is that if you successfully graduate from any of their schools, you can attend League Conferences without collecting badges. Long story short, I had no other choice but to attend one of their Universities before the Pokemon League would recognize me as a legitimately capable Pokemon trainer. This is me.” He would offer her his pokedex, which had his digital Pokemon League License. It listed his full name, Ezekiel Hammond, his age, 15, and like all other official Pokemon League License stated he was a full fledged Pokemon trainer. “What they don't tell you is once you graduate from the University, they don't supply you the Pokemon necessary to attend said League Conferences. So here I am. All know-howed up and no way to show it off.” He would shrug. Story of his life summed up in a few sentences. His Shinx would rejoin the duo once he realized how far ahead he had gotten from them, Zeke glancing to the electric Pokemon before looking back to his new friend. “One of my 5th year professors gave me Shinx here as a graduation present. He was....my biggest hater when I first started at the University. But by the time I graduated, I was his favorite student. He said Shinx and I were alike, in that we had the makings of greatness in us. I had drawn out my own greatness, now it was time for me to draw out the greatness in others.” Though honestly, Zeke felt like the professor was trying to get him to become a teacher, not inspire him to become a better Pokemon trainer.

When the Pokemon center came in to view, Zeke would turn his attention back to his companion. “What about you? What made you want to be a trainer?

She blinked, for some reason she swore she’d given the kid her name, but wasn’t about to argue with him about it. Not worth the effort, and given the excitement of the day, it seemed likely she’d genuinely forgotten. His next question proved easy to answer. “I believe Marts and Centers are combined, but I haven’t needed to restock my own supplies since arriving here, so I can’t say for certain.” Nor would she for a while, more than likely. Taking the momentary distraction of Zeke’s Shinx returning, she couldn’t help but chuckle. “I’m afraid you would be far too slow to that idea. I’ve known more than a few who’ve had the same lament.” And even knew a few people who tried, and managed to make a quick buck with the con job.

She had indeed heard of Pokémon Tech, a few of her on and off companions talked about it, and she’d fought a few trainers from various arms of it. A few in Kanto even. “Sounds like the sort of stupid thing the League would do.” She eyed the Trainer’s License without comment, her eyebrows jumping age his age. That did manage to surprise her a fair bit. “Probably a good way for them to do it really. Keeps the Leagues from getting all clogged up with Trainers or something.” Not that Arielle would really know, despite her fairly impressive collection of gym badges, she never challenged the Leagues herself. She nodded at the appropriate times during the rest of his explanation, electing not to comment about his former teacher’s remarks. Those sorts of sentiments didn’t quite sit right with her, something she knew to be a result of a very different outlook on life.

Zeke’s final question was anticipated, although that didn’t help Arielle with figuring out how to answer it. “Nothing really. I ‘caught’ Thirteen pretty young, without any real intention of being a full-fledged trainer.” Perhaps it would have been fairer to say Thirteen caught her? Either way, it didn’t matter much. “A few friends of mine dragged me into their traveling, and I brought Thirteen along. One thing followed another, and well…here I am. I’ve meandered my way across most of the world, so I can’t complain too much.” She could, what with all the excitement today; but most of the time, her life wasn’t too bad. “Hoping that I can relax and do a bit more of the traveling this time around.” She still needed to decide if she wanted to bother with Gym battles this time around. “Might forgo the Gym thing entirely this time. We’ll see.” As the neared the doors, the thought that she still failed to give her name occurred. "My name's Arielle, before I forget."

“I would honestly be surprised if all the Jennys didn’t know me and my Espeon by name at this point.” Cross said, rubbing the back o her head awkwardly with her free hand, the other firmly holding onto the aforementioned Espeon. Whom of which was busily taunting the Froakie on the young man’s shoulder by using her psychic powers to tug on it’s bubbly collar.
“Hey, quit that.” Cross mumbled, and when she was ignored, she huffed in frustration, then pressed her free palm against Cherry’s forehead, directly over her little jewel, causing the Pokemon to abruptly stop what she was doing and start squirming.
“If you don’t behave, I’m gonna put you back in your Pokeball!”
“ESP! Eeeee!”
“So you gonna behave?”
Cherry nodded frantically.
“Alright, fine. Behave.” And with that, Cross put her Espeon onto the ground beside her, “Graceon, keep an eye on her, would ya? ... er, nose, I guess.”

With that, Cross turned towards the guy and began digging around in her bag for something. While she did that, she said, “Again, I am so sorry about her, she’s normally well behaved, but she’s been cooped up for a while and she gets kinda... energetic if she can’t let all that energy out...”
That being said, the young woman pulled what appeared to be a orange chew toy out of her bag and waved it in Cherry’s direction, before lightly tossing it over her back, at which point it was immediately snatched out of the air by the Espeon herself as she vaulted into the air and caught it in teeth. The pretty pink Pokemon then proceeded to fall over and start gnawing on it. Cross could only shrug in the poor guy’s direction.

A momentary, awkward pause fell over her before Cross suddenly blurted out, “That’s a pretty cool Froakie ya got there. Looks like a strong one, too. Ya know, I’m more partial to Grass-Types myself,” Luna leaned her head forward and rested her chin on her trainer’s shoulder, and Cross quickly wrapped that arm around her head, idly stroking her precious partner’s head, “Buuuut, I have to admit, Greninja is pretty cool. And you also got an Absol here, that one I would recognize anywhere. For obvious reasons.” She gestured with her thumb towards the Absol sitting among the little huddle of Pokemon in the background.

Zeke would nod, glad to hear that marts and centers were in the same building in this region. Or at least, there was a distinct possibility of it. He would snap his fingers when told he was slow on the idea of bottling energy and selling it, making the statement “Darn. And it was such a good idea too.” Which is probably why someone else had already had it. It did seem like a fairly common thought now that he thought about it.

I....can't deny that...” As much as he hated to admit it, the League made the right decision in forcing him to go to Pokemon Tech. “Society thinks that any 10 year old is responsible enough to care for another living creature. But that's....just not true. One of the guys I grew up with, that left for his journey like everyone else our age, couldn't find his way out of a wet paper bag with a map and a machete. This guy was....dense. Point is, maybe there should be some sort of course or test or something you had to take instead of simply filling out paperwork and turning 10.” He had thought about that for a long time now, and that was his ultimate conclusion on the matter. “I mean, yeah, the classes were ridiculously hard, but end of the day I think I'm better prepared for the world from it.

When it was Zeke's turn to listen he would do so intently, years of hard knocks studying forcing him to make mental notes and come up with questions to prove he had in fact been paying attention. He would listen in utter silence, nodding a few times to show he was listening. When she seemed to be finished answering his question, he had another, likely obvious question. “If I may ask a follow up question? If your friends hadn't dragged you along on their journey, would you have considered going on one by yourself? Or rather, If you hadn't traveled with them, what do you think you would have done?” He kept a close eye on her for a moment, considering. What would she have become, given how she had been until this point? “I think you would have been....” he considered, tossing two ideas around in his mind before admitting “A cop. That or a tour guide. Earlier you said you've been in town since yesterday, but you've not only scoped out the city, you've already remembered how to get to a certain destination from somewhere else in the city I'm assuming you're otherwise unfamiliar with. Cops and tour guides need to know their way around their cities like that.” he hoped the statement didn't offend her.

Once they reached the Pokemon center Zeke would follow Arielle to the counter and hand over Shinx to the resident Nurse Joy, then make his way for the waiting area where he would take off his backpack and double check his supplies. That's when he realized he had made a terrible mistake. He had left the professor's lab in such a hurry he had forgotten to pick up his starter poke-balls. Get your free shit and get out ran through his mind, Zeke realizing too late he had done the get out bit a little too perfectly. “Of all the stupid, asinine, foolish mistakes I could've made.” he would mutter to himself, sitting back in his seat and letting his head rest against the back cushion, even going so far as to allow his eyes to close with a light sigh. Opening his eyes and turning his attention back to Arielle, if she had accompanied him, he would ask “Think there's a way to make a quick buck here in town?
